Location
Property is two blocks from Madison Square Garden which was perfect.
We also love staying here
Newly renovated, which I love. The room size is reasonable for an NYC hotel, and the space is clean and conveniently located. However, the biggest downside is the lack of soundproofing. I could hear everything from the hallway at night, especially when the cleaning crew was nearby—lots of door slams. Being on the 6th floor, I also heard the garbage truck loud and clear at night, which was unfortunate. Even walking through the hallway, I could hear what was happening inside the rooms. If you’re a light sleeper, definitely bring earplugs or noise-canceling headphones.
Check in was late and rude.
The hotel was easy to find and walkable from the redline subway. We even felt safe walking from the subway at night. The room was very clean and breakfast area was constantly cleaned and restocked. The staff that ran breakfast was phenomenal! The front desk also provided complimentary bottles of water which was nice when running out the door. We did not have any issues with the elevators and would definitely stay here again.
The woman at check in was distracted and sent me to the wrong room
Wonderful, quick stay in a comfortable, clean room
We had to visit New York City just for one night because we had an appointment the next day for administrative family business. We have stayed at this particular Holiday Inn express before, and we were worried that it might have slipped in cleanliness since the last time, but the room was extremely comfortable and clean And the service and all the employees were very friendly and knowledgeable and efficient! Breakfast was included and that is the only reason we downgraded at a star because there really wasn’t enough space and it was very busy and chaotic and those eggs were extremely odd! Lol they were like Mass produced McDonald’s, McMuffins style eggs… if you want easy eggs for everybody that taste much better just go for scrambled. But really the hotel is very nice and that was just one element staff extremely friendly!
Great location, nice bedrooms and good size bathrooms. courteous staff. Small dinning area. They only have two elevators and they get very crowded. Cleaning staff could do a better job vacuuming and cleaning mirrirs.
LOVED It's
Great stay
In a decent location, hotel is decent too but attempts to contact reception were often unsuccessful.
Nice hotel convenient to the train station. We took train from SC and was an easy walk to property. Easy walk to Madison square garden and Empire State Building. Would definitely stay here again.
I had a great stay at this hotel for 6 nights. The staff were amazing—super friendly and always eager to help, which made the experience even better. The location was perfect, with many places within walking distance, so it was easy to explore the area. The only downsides were the thin walls and the comedor (dining area). It was extremely small, and during my entire stay, I only managed to find a place to sit once. That was a bit disappointing, especially since breakfast was included and I was looking forward to enjoying it comfortably. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this hotel for its fantastic staff and great location, but if you're planning to relax while having breakfast, be prepared for limited seating.
Good breakfast!
Overall pretty decent with great location
Everything pretty good except there was no hot water for over half the weekend in the entire building. This is a bit unacceptable and although after I requested a rate adjustment they did take some off, ice cold showers are not good. Breakfast was okay, but definitely nothing special. Key to this hotel is the price, especially considering the location was very good. It is very quiet, yet you are so close to MSG and a lot of other things. There is a really decent bar called Walter’s just a block or so away too. Would I stay here again, definitely. It deserves another shot. Just realize it is nothing fancy, rooms and elevators are extremely small, and don’t book it for the breakfast.
Didn’t have hot water one morning and TV did not work. Construction was so loud nearby throughout the night I had to sleep with my phone music on. Staff was very nice and accommodating. Price was right.
Quiet, clean and in a great location. Easy check in and staff was friendly! Great price too!!
No hot water for 12 hours.
Excellent location, although somewhat dirty around the area -- but the same is true outside other fancier options in the same sector. Overall super friendly staff.
It was great I was very comfortable and it was convenient
Good stay.
It was a good stay overall. The room was small but very clean; cleanest shower ever. The only problem was that I could hear people in neighboring rooms enter and exit their rooms repeatedly in the early morning hours. It woke my son and me repeatedly.
Loved my stay! Staff are SO KIND and understanding. Hotel room was very nice.
Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Room was clean and breakfast was great
I wish there was a room for serving breakfast instead of eating in the frontroom. But the food was nice and hot. We enjoyed our stay regardless
It was fine. The bed comfortable. I was using as staycation so the tv not working correctly and premium channels not working, and the hot water never getting hot were not ideal. Fair price, clean, good breakfast, Friendly staff.
Jeremy was very friendly and helpful. Great stay.
It was very small
The bed was comfortable and the the bath was clean. There is a free breakfast which is nothing special but still saves a lot of money. It’s just a couple blocks south of Penn Station and several subway stops. Getting to and from Newark airport is very easy. I would stay here again.
Hotel is newly renovated, however, the are isn't that nice.
The staff were great and efficient. Only complaint would be that one of the two elevators was broken for over a day which made it very slow getting up and down.
We stayed for 3 nights and every day upon our return to the hotel our room was cleaned and feesh towels. I have stayed in others where they do not even check on the rooms. The hotel itself was very clean, the staff was polite and helpful. The neighborhood is safe and within walking dostance of broadway and time square are. It was also very close to the subway. Having subway maps in the hotel would be very helful, especially to be able to ask staff for advice for first timers.
No issues with this hotel. The first time I’ve stayed and everything was ok. The room was in good condition. The staff was lovely. It all worked out well.
Very pleasant and clean. Great location.
The hotel is great location but the rooms are tiny, and they’re super overwhelmed with guests.. Basics like laundry bags, robes, slippers, etc are misisng-so I would give this 3/5 stars max!
Clean , convenient
Small but comfortable
Small but comfortable room. Friendly staff. Morning breakfast was a madhouse--very crowded! Otherwise, no complaints.
Great location
Great location and excellent breakfast.
We had no hot water one morning for showers. We should have been notified in advance that they were turning it off.
Excellent Stay
Super friendly staff. Allowed us to check in early. Generous complimentary breakfast. Convenient location for train commuting.
We had no hot water on the last day of our stay. The free breakfast was great.
Great renovated room! The only downside was breakfast. The food was okay (cold eggs on day 1) but really it was the location of the dining area close to the hotel entrance (it was COLD out). Otherwise the stay was great!
Great hotel!
The staff, room, location, and breakfast were all great!
Business as in business
The staff was great and my group had a wonderful experience! Would book here again!
It was a really good experience I recommend it
Bad elevator didn’t work held the time
Ease of access to the city
The hotel was clean, comfortable and quiet - convenient location close to NYP and the 1 subway. Free breakfast had something for everyone.
69 / 5.000 The hotel has a good location and access to the transportation system. The Empare State Building is close.
Love IHG brand! Quick trip for the Knicks game and a great price. Literally a few short steps to Msg, Herald Square and major eats and shopping. The only small annoyance is the elevator. There is only one and there are multiple floors. The housekeeping , staff uses the elevator during check in, which can have you waiting for 10 minutes or so to get to your floor. But that was the only small thing besides no in room fridge or microwave. But there is a nice area downstairs to sit and eat. Would definitely stay again!
Would recommend and stay again
All was great but are to eat was so small that we had to eat always in our room as it was freezing outside on December 2024:)
Wonderful stay. Staff were courteous and helpful, breakfast was busy and full, but was really nice none the less to have available. Easy walking to Penn station, MSG. Lots of food options. Elevators were not always available due to some maintenance needed; however, this wasnt a huge issue. We will def be back!
Check-in desk first gave us the wrong room. The Jets in the tub did not work and there were some black dirt around the tub. Elevator was a little scary in that it would bounce if they were a few people in it at one time.
The hotel is very clean and modern, the breakfast is excellent. The only thing is that there are hardly any tables inside and in winter the tables outside are very cold. The double room is small but the bathroom is excellent. For the New York area it is very good.
An excellent choice for the price! The rooms are cleaned daily, and they offer a complimentary breakfast along with free bottles of water available on the first floor. The staff is incredibly friendly, and during our stay, we had the pleasure of meeting some wonderful guests to connect with. Overall, I’m completely satisfied!
I like it
Great hotel, but very bad breakfast setup
Breakfast is chaos. Not enough room for all guests. Horrible trying to get food and then having stand to eat very bad set up and not enough room to accommodate guests
Lovely hotel with friendly staff
Nice and clean room, good breakfast, fast check in and check out, great location close to all attractions, subway and shopping, comfortable beds, good bathroom.Reception staff were super friendly and helpful, thank you Richard. Free water bottle each day.My one only complaint is that the elevators are slow and one did not work. Will stay again.
Parking is not in premises Breakfast was awesome -should try a different arrangement of tables-
Great stay, not far from time square really enjoyed it.
This was a great location! A block from the subway or a few blocks from Penn Station. Breakfast was great and rooms very clean and modern. One of the elevators was broken when we stayed so it was a little inconvenient waiting for one during high traffic times (breakfast or evening) but wasn’t too bad. We took the stair when we could. Staff checking in was very nice and recommended a parking lot for us.
Go to city hotel
This is our go to hotel, have stayed multiple times now while in the city for concerts at MSG..close proximity to everything we need. Staff is great, rooms are clean, check-in and out is a breeze. Everything you want in a hotel
I am not one to usually write reviews but my stay at your accommodation warrants one. Apart from the location being near sites and train stations, nothing good comes out of your experience in this hotel. Firstly, that damn elevator needs to be fixed. You got over 15 people waiting in line for one Mesozoic lift that might make you stuck if you’re unlucky. Breakfast was a nightmare. Seats aren’t enough and your meals could induce a heart attack in two minutes with the poorest array of viands for consumption. They shouldn’t be consumed. No veggies or anything fresh aside from bruised apples and oranges. Poor staff and maintenance response. It was freezing cold inside our room with a faulty thermostat and an even more faulty GE heater. Rang staff and the front desk a few times and they will either lie to you by saying that maintenance will come in an hour OR they plainly don’t respond your call. So you have no choice but to use said crappy elevator to throw a fit downstairs to get their attention. Moreover, what’s up with the hidden fees? A destination fee of $28.69 is outstandingly expensive for such a crappy service with absolutely NO amenities. It’s also absurd how your staff promotes “FREE” water per day of stay without having to mention the mandatory fee that you’d have to pay to drink the damn thing. They don’t even mention it when checking in OR checking out and just deducts it to your $150 deposit upon check in. Absolutely ridiculous. Not to mention there’s
One of the elevator was damage. Only one for guerra and staff
Rooms are good. But breakfast lobby is way too small for the croud, and this becomes hell. Only one of the elevators was working, so it took up to 10 min to get to our room due to the jam. Bathroom was not vacuumed properly with many women hair on the tiles. Front desk not friendly.
You get what you pay for
The room was NY-small, which was fine for the price, but having only one working elevator for a 15-floor building was difficult. Also, a lot of the housekeeping stuff happens on the first floor, right next to the elevator. The pancake machine was working, but the dining are was a zoo since it was very small relative to the number of guests.
The staff was friendly, room service was excellent! Our room did not have a refrigerator, a staff member assisted with having one brought to our room in a timely manner. The location was great for walking distance to the subway. The area was clean, and felt safe.
Overall, our stay was decent, but we did encounter a few issues. One night, we struggled to sleep due to other guests partying in the hallways. They were smoking marijuana in a neighboring room, which caused our room to smell of smoke. These disturbances occurred between 3-5 AM, which we found completely unacceptable. We eventually reported the issue to the front desk, and security intervened, bringing the situation under control. Thankfully, we didn’t experience any further disruptions for the rest of our stay. Additionally, one of the two elevators broke down, leading to long wait times to travel between floors. Despite these inconveniences, our stay was overall satisfactory.
Close to msg good front desk people …nice and basic I would stay again
Only one elevator functional at busiest time of year. Would have been nice if it was at least being worked on.
Excellent choice
Great location; hotel was safe, staff efficient; except when we asked for extra pillows and towels. The front desk said they would order them. No one ever showed up.
Excelente la estadía, buen precio, rico desayuno, accesible a metro, lugares de comer, Times Square. Muy recomendado.
Great stay
Great location to explore the city. We had one room for a family of two adults and two children which worked well, as we only used it as a base to sleep. Bathroom was a good size. The room was well cleaned.
My initial impression was of the friendly, competent service of the staff at check-in. This was immediately forgotten by discovering that only one of the two, small elevators, was working! We were on the 7th floor. We had to wait for several cars to come and go before we were able to get to the lobby, the next morning, barely in time for the free breakfast, which was being cleaned up by the time we got there. The room was clean annd attractive, but there wa.s no comfortably seating
Pros: it is at an excellent location in NYC only blocks from train station. Price was good given that location. Cons: (these are actual events). The heat in the room was not working properly. No matter what setting, it was blowing out cool air and temp in room never exceeded 70F. Complained to staff multiple times; best response was maybe someone will look at it but don't know when. No one ever came in our one night stay. This is mid Dec in NYC. Additionally, there is only one operational elevator for this 15 stories hotel. That elevator is limited to 8 people. I was in the 7 th floor which means that I was never able to the elevator down.
In the middle of everything
Great location for walking to MSG which was where the venue for the event we attended.
Good
Great stay!!!
Wonderful stay!!! Check-in very easy and all workers there were wonderful and so friendly! Complimentary water upon check-in and during the stay. Hotel lobby very nice and clean and welcoming. Our room was very nice, clean and quiet. Bed was extra comfy! Bathroom was roomy and clean. Complimentary breakfast was amazing and such a nice perk being in the city. You don't find that at too many hotels around there. Coffee, juices, fruits, yogurts, cereals, eggs, potatoes, meat (sausage patties and links), and pancakes (best little make your own pancake gadget I've ever seen!). Breakfast area was always extremely busy, but all guests were pleasant and patient. Area is fantastic and within walking distance of everything.....stores, restaurants, Penn Station, MGS, other subway entrances, etc. We would definitely stay here again!!!
The hotel was in a great central location with easy access to transportation. The rooms are smaller but clean. The only downfalls are that it was very noisy when the people next door would go in and out and the breakfast area was too small. Otherwise, a great place to stay in New York.
The room size was great but the thermometer was broken in my room and it was FREEZING. I did ask for an extra blanket about 4 times until I said something to the front desk, advising that we’ve asked 4 times for a blanket already in which they admitted they probably don’t have any extra … the walls were also super thin and we could hear every single person talking or slamming their room door. The elevator was broken 2 times during my stay and the 2nd time was when I was leaving the hotel to go the airport and I had a check in and a carry on which I had to carry down 6 flights of stairs … the employees at the front desk are honestly not very pleasant but other than that the room size, comfortability and location of the hotel was pretty good!
Jaisa was the best hotel rep ever!
Will stay again
Will stay again! Very clean ! Staff was very helpful
The staff did absolutely nothing They would tell us they would attend to things and never did any of it Got ready to leave this morning and the ride I asked them to set up and confirmed was never called This place was the soriest place we have stayed in over the last 20 years
Staff was wonderful. Great value and super convenient to get to all the major sights! Delicious breakfast!
Great location, shame about the lift
This hotel would have had a four star rating, however, one of its two lifts broke down the day after arriving and still hadn’t been repaired on the day we left, we were there for. 6 days. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great location to be able to navigate our to do list.
Love the location, cleanliness, comfy bed free bottled water and breakfast! I just wished both elevators were working. 1 elevator only works and can only hold a max of 8, maybe 4-5 with the luggages.
Great location near MSG. Room was extremely clean. Only negative is that only one elevator was working and it would “forget” which floors people had pushed so it would go up and down to different (unselected floors) unless you kept reentering the floor #s (which is challenging with several people going to different floors). Great hotel and I’m sure they’ll get the elevator fixed.
Won’t stay there again
Had to stay in a basement room the first night because they ran out of rooms. Nobody would ever pick up phone. Not the best service. Location is great. Rooms were clean.
We were very disappointed to be given a basement room upon our arrival, after travelling all day from western Canada. We were told we could get a higher floor the next day, but that came with the inconvenience of having to pack up all of our things. Once we were in the 11th floor room however, it smelled very bad of sweat. It was horrible! We also felt cheated out of the complimentary breakfast that was offered on our first morning there. We had to leave the hotel early to get a spot for the Macy’s Parade, so we were unable to benefit from the free breakfast. It would have been nice if the hotel could have offered some “grab n go” breakfasts in a bag for those taking in the parade. We would have then received our complimentary breakfast and we could have started our long day with some food. Also, the elevator was not working properly on our 2nd morning there. I had a severe knee issue, and taking the stairs from the 11th floor was not an option for me. Other than that, the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. They gladly kept all of our bags for us when we switched rooms and again when we checked out. The complimentary water was also an added bonus!
I liked the cleanliness and the cleaning staff! They were amazing. We had many issues with the elevator and the breakfast area had to be left at 10am sharp. The reception staff didn’t explain the facilities and how some things worked in the room. We found out 2 days before leaving that we could get ice from a machine in the ground floor. We had a great experience with the Night Shift reception staff.
I am a solo traveler so the room size was enough to meet my needs. More than 2 people can be a little tight. 10 minutes walk from Penn Station which is great to travel around the city via subway system.

The hotel was very nice but the guy who greeted us at night was very unfriendly.
