Wonderful stay
Amazing stay, property felt like Costa should be. The staff made the experience wonderful and made you feel like family. Absolutely would recommend.
Cute room freandly staff
We had a wonderful time at Hotel Heliconias recently. Me and my two best friends came to celebrate my 50th birthday and we can't say enough good things about this hotel, the staff and the exceptional service. From the moment we arrived we were taken care of by Diego and Alejandro. Check in was seamless, the rooms were clean and well equipped, the breakfast was scrumptious and believe me when I say this was the best breakfast of our entire week in Costa Rica. The service was impeccable. Alejandro took care of booking all of our excursions and made sure we felt at home. The owner Omar made the effort to welcome us to the hotel and provided fresh coconut water for us at the pool. Diego went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable with our stay. This hotel is different. It is quiet, peaceful, surrounded by natural beauty and you feel at home. I would definitely come back here next time I am in Costa Rica. Thank you for making our stay very memorable and special.
Absolutely beautiful property! We loved our room, the grounds, the food. Would totally recommend a stay here!
The staff was incredible. I’ve never felt so welcomed and appreciated as a guest. The property is stunning with glorious views and the nature walk area was amazing.
Great Location
Overall we enjoyed our time at this place. Unfortunately, perhaps due to off season, we did not find several places around the resort closed, for example bar at the pool. There were construction going on around the resort, which also seemed unsightly. Cleaning service was not that great. Our room was not cleaned properly and we could find dirt and hair balls in the washroom and around the room. This was disappointing. Washroom could use some shelves to place our shampoo and stuff, we had place all that on the floor. Front office staff was very helpful and totally took care of us and for that we are grateful. Breakfast was included, but it was not that much. But the staff and management was very kind and allow us to orders extra portion and that was greatly appreciated. All in all, it is a good resort and I am sure that in main tourist season they would be much better in their ambiance and other services. Thank you for making our stay and memorable one. My family did have a very good time.
We stayed in a family treehouse and it was fabulous. The staff is so kind. There was a sloth hanging out by reception. The hot springs are gorgeous. It is paradise
There was no available wifi. The a/c needed to be maintained- it was very loud.
Slice of Paradise
Beautiful family run resort . We stayed in the Deluxe Treehouse and it was wonderful up in the treetops! Hot springs were perfect on the property within walking distance . Restaurant was under roof open air and the food was delicious . The owner and his family were so friendly. J was a great server and told us a lot about the animals and ,fauna Such a wonderful Costa Rican slice of paradise !Thank you for sharing your property with us !

This place is pretty special. It is a small, low key resort. My son wanted to stay close to the pool, so we stayed in a standard room. The room wasn't great. The beds were hard, it could use a refresh, the air conditioner was loud, and there was no soundproofing. If we had picked one of the bungalows or treehouses, I likely would have given the place 5 stars. It is a nice alternative away from the hustle and bustle of La Fortuna but still close to lots of attractions.
Overall the property was beautiful and lots of wildlife surrounding. Staff were always pleasant. Breakfast options were decent. Our only two complaints are the beds/pillows and the bugs in our room.Extremely hard and uncomfortable bedding and the large amount of bugs in our treehouse. Not sure if the cleaning crew left the doors open while they cleaned or if they managed to enter through the small openings but our last night in the tree house has several bugs that night.
Loved it!
We enjoyed our stay. The restaurant was excellent along with the service. There is a pond next to the restaurant where you can see the fish, ducks and wildlife. The owner visited with us and was very friendly. It is a family affair each son works in a different area. The breakfast was included and was very nice. The gardens are beautiful as well as the vegetable garden they have on site. We would recommend this hotel.
Beautiful resort. Pool was nice and hot springs are lovely. Really enjoyed the opportunity to explore paths on the property and see flora and fauna (we saw a sloth on the first day, toucans, parakeets, and much more). We stayed in the treehouse and it was a wonderful treat. Would stay again here.
We loved this hotel! Kids had a blast with the hammocks and hot springs! Only recommendation would be to have stronger AC. Room was very warm when we checked in and took a while to cool down.
We stayed in a glass bungalow, which had glass walls on three sides. It was really an incredible experience. The people there were so helpful and friendly. The Hot Springs pools was a really unique experience. We would definitely go back.
We had a wonderful stay at Heliconias. The bungalows were clean with plenty of privacy. We didn’t get to spend a lot of time there because we were out a lot on tours but Diego made us the best Piña Coladas every evening while we enjoyed the hot springs. He works very hard and you will find him running around from one job to another and always has a smile on his face. This place is lucky to have him as part of their staff. We will definitely return.
The property is a little slice of paradise. It is very relaxing. There is a soccer field for the kids to play soccer. The staff is amazing and friendly. Jimmy even played soccer with my son. I highly recommend staying here!
This was really, really a fun place for us! We stayed in the deluxe Treehouse #1. The treehouse and the grounds were just wonderful. The staff was super friendly, the treehouse was clean and SO COOL with all the glass windows. The meals were excellent. We loved the pool and hot spring tubs. Highly recommend!
Great staff.
The staff here is great. They are easily accessible and so willing to help with your experience on and off the property. They are very knowledgeable and added to the experience. The kids loved how much nature there was around we stayed in the deluxe bungalow which backed on to nothing out trees and they loved the hammocks. There is a walking trail that’s great for a quick morning hike right on the site. Have the Pinto Gallo for breakfast in the morning!
STAY HERE!
The service was fantastic, the rooms are beautiful and they thought of everything, right down to soft blankets to snuggle with in the hammocks. We loved the walking paths, the hot springs, the breakfast was fantastic, we loved our stay and would love to come back!
I heat to say something negative about the guys there because they are nice but so clumsy and neglectful. 3 time we needed a ride in the heavy rain no one respond and their is a voice mail no even identifying the hotel , room condition is bad . Do not lean on the sink you will get heart . every thing looks like it was put on cheaply. mosquito protection is poor! My advice if you need to pay $60 or less you are fine ! If you pay more have been taken for a ride (we paid $240).
Great treehouse for a family!
Amazing treehouse and staff. Our kids had an incredible time exploring. We saw toucans right on the property. The drive to the resort is scenic and we found it enjoyable, so much to see and great sodas and markets along the way.
A Natural Paradise
A beautiful property with a pool and hot springs in a natural location. The bird life is amazing. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The food was delicious, especially the included breakfast. Alejandro at the front desk was very helpful in making our transportation arrangements and ensuring our stsy was very enjoyable
Beautiful property with well maintained gardens and walking trails. Only disappointment was that the hot springs water was cold in multiple occasions
Such a relaxing and wonderful stay at Heliconias for our honeymoon. The glass bungalow was quiet and romantic and the staff went above and beyond to make our stay special. They were immediately responsive to all of our questions on WhatsApp and scheduled interesting tours and transportation (night walk and farm tour on the property, chocolate making tour at a neighbouring farm and safari river float were all excellent and worth the cost). On site hot springs were lovely (but only open in the evenings). Truly a great place can’t wait to come back
This place is magica! So worth the trip to visit
This is one of the finest experience we had during this Trip. A must stay for everyone, Cruize like experience with many Hot spring natural tubs ( Private for a family ), nice pools and Trails and indeed a hidden treasure. Staff is exceptionally welcoming and make you feel safe and welcomed. our Entire family would like to strongly recommend this property for anyone visiting CR and have plans to include mystic hanging bridges , Arenal volcanos and La Fortuna water falls. Best Location to camp here.
Area around property is good but the property itself is not up to the standards. Toilet stopped working. I stayed with my family and felt like bathrooms were not clean. It was just OK. Breakfast was not great and have very few options. Though they say it is buffet breakfast it is limited to juices, fruites and coffee. Overall not great. Will not come again.
Beautiful grounds of trees, flowers, plants, fruit trees. Very scenic. Rustic. Peaceful. Could upgrade room more , sink low to ground, no safe in room, no microwave.
This place was just magical! Such an awesome sanctuary they’ve created there. Everything from the staff to the accommodations were 5 star!!
Nice quiet experience. Very friendly staff restaurant was very good. Would have been nice to have better location to store luggage, and personal items in the suites.
First rate! Our favourite place of our entire trip. Beautiful and well-appointed bungalows, the setting is amazing, and the staff is fantastic.
Property was perfect for us as we were looking to spend time in nature away from the city where we could enjoy peace and quiet.
The Heliconias Nature Inn is contained on a beautiful property. While the accommodations are fancy, they are more than adequate - after all, we were in a tree house! The thing that made our trip was the staff. I got a 24 hour stomach bug and was quite ill - all of the guys checked in and went above and beyond to assist, including bringing crackers and Gatorade, chicken soup, and fresh coconut water, which according to Tavo, helps cure everything! Can't say enough about the staff, location and spaces. Next time, we will likely choose a bungalow - and we do hope for a return visit!
We had a very pleasant 5 night stay in a glass bungalow. It was lovely to wake up in the morning and listen to birds in our hammocks on the porch. We liked the glass bungalows. comfortable beds, spacious bathrooms, basic amenities. The only issue was that we couldn’t operate the fan because the in and off cord was missing. Breakfast in the open air restaurant was good-mostly eggs american style. It would have been nice to also have continental style pastries and cereal. Staff are friendly and responsive. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained.
Beautiful grounds and glass bungalows.
Heliconias Nature Inn exceeded our expectations in terms of how beautiful the grounds and our glass bungalow were. The breakfast options were filling and tasty. The service at the front desk and the restaurant was always prompt and friendly. If we ever make it back to CR we would be thrilled to stay at this property again.
Property was great overall. Only commentary is we found the restaurant lacking. Menu was boring, food was only ok. We ate there once only wasn't to our liking
The lush, tropical landscape
We loved our stay at Heliconias Nature Inn. The bungalows were clean and had a wall of glass to view the jungle. The grounds were peaceful and well maintained. The restaurant on site was very good and convenient. We would definitely stay here again.
A gem in Costa Rica
This place was amazing!! Highly recommend. We went in the off season, and pretty much had the place to ourselves. The staff is incredibly friendly and the property is beautiful. Not much to do at the resort, but we went for the tranquil setting, so we were not disappointed. Enjoyed mother nature to the fullest. Very private lodgings. Ask for Lizano sauce with your meal!
We just returned from a 2 week stay in Costa Rica. We spent 5 of those nights at Heliconias. Our treehouse was amazing! The breakfast that was included was delicious. It was so relaxing and peaceful there. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Alejandro and Diego helped us with anything and everything we needed. We will definitely return here.
This is about 20-25 min driving distance from La fortuna. Best Location. Very quite and safe. Lot of small restaurants on the way to La Fortuna , Very economical and great food. Easy car parking and great restaurant on the property. You are away from La Fortuna but not that far. You get best of both . Tree house is awesome.
Overall I was pleased with the place - this was a last minute booking.
We absolutely loved staying here! Peaceful and great service! Food was also amazing! Be aware however that this is a little out of the way so you will pay more for transportation to tours. Was worth it though!
Excellent service. The property is beautiful and peaceful. The bungalow was clean and big enough for two adults. The complimentary breakfast was delicious!! There are some outdoor activities that can be done within the facilities. They don’t have ev chargers yet. :(.
Amazing we will be definitely going back soon
This place was amazing. The individual bungalows were beautifully designed and cozy and the grounds were vast and beautiful, we saw toucans, sloths and macaws. Our family enjoyed the large field where we could play soccer and volleyball. The location is about 1/2 hour from the Arenal volcano and the touristy area so it was perfect. This is a family-owned Lodge and Alejandro was so friendly and informative. We would recommend this to families and anyone not looking for a nightclub scene. We loved our stay at Helconias Nature Lodge and will definitely go back.
Don’t stay here unless you want to be isolated from all of the attractions. You should have a car to get back to LaFortuna to explore restaurants and shops and excursions. And it’s 30 minutes away. The restaurant on-site is marginal at best and the manager, Oscar, is not very responsive. He is the owners son-in-law so doesn’t care much about his customer service. Don’t bother with the on site night hike, the bird watching tour or the hike to the Childrens Rainforest. The guide only has a few months experience and was not very good. We kind of feel ripped off. The only good thing was the treehouse room we stayed in. Very unique experience in the room. If I had to do it again I would have stayed in LaFortuna.
Beautiful natural grounds kept impeccable. Amazing warm staff, I felt right at home. I can’t wait to go back, absolutely wonderful.
The staff was amazing. They made us feel like family. They were very friendly and accommodating. The Deluxe tree house was amazing. We also stayed in another room but it was not as nice due to the water not getting warm enough all the time. The food was amazing. The property is peaceful and beautiful. We would definitely want to stay there again. We enjoyed it so much!
Very lovely property and unique. Super friendly and nice people running it. Unfortunately they weren’t as prepared as we would have hoped. The heater was never turned on in the warm pool when we wanted to use it and you can forget the TV working. If you don’t mind simple and rustic, this place is nice. There are many other options closer to town than may have more commercial amenities.
Dont book it
Nice land but staff doesn't help. Bad customer services
Beautiful property overall, but the workers yell at each other a lot across the property which really disturbs the quiet vibe, and they drive loud vehicles up and down the road a good bit within the property right past the cabins. Laundry came back wet. Rooms a bit stale. But I would give it another chance to see if maybe it was just a bad time.
.
Our group booked 10 rooms and all the rooms were unique in it’s own way. The glass rooms were great Bc you have full view of the jungle. The deluxe is great Bc it’s roomier and has a dining table which was nice with kids. We like the treehouse rooms also but these rooms are very small. The owners/staff were very friendly and helpful. It’s a family run hotel so they were very nice. The swimming pool was very nice also. I would definitely recommend staying here if you want to be in nature.
Norwegians in Costa Rica
Alejandro helped us check in and was an amazing resource while we were staying. The tree houses were incredibly quaint and welcoming.
Treehouse Adventure!
Amazing views! Pleasant surprise. Adventurous! Great hospitality! Jungle book feeling! Very safe! If you love adventures and want to try something different this was definitely an awesome experience! There were a couple of ants which is expected because you are in a treehouse. But everything else around you such as monkeys, sloths and beautiful birds and landscape will make up for it! Oh… the pool next to the treehouse we stayed in was at perfect temperature and we really enjoyed seeing lots of beautiful hummingbirds flying around. It was the icing on the cake to our Costa Rica adventure!
Stayed at the deluxe treehouse and had a great experience! The family that managed the Restaurant and Lodge are the nicest people. Our Driver from the Lodge, Andres, was prompt and very professional! Thanks for a great family experience!! True Pura Vida!!
Stunnning treehouse
The perfect place! Our room was up on a treehouse and it was stunning overlooking the jungle we saw tucans and all sorts of birds. This is a family run establishment and you feel at home right upon arrival. Alejandro makes sure you have everything you need and the breakfast is delicious, also 3 options to choose from American style or Costa Rican style, we tried both and it was homemade and organic. Definitely recommend it
It’s less of a hotel, but more of a family compound with individual cabins. Our cabin had a non-working AC (wouldn’t turn on), rock hard beds, but otherwise it was OK.
The family who owns this hotel was super friendly and more than welcoming. They did so much to make us feel special!
The staff is very friendly! The food is very good!
I want to return
One of the best hotels & experience ! Beautiful place and wonderful service You go to resort and feel better then home Worth it and we will back soon Thank you Alejandro and the family
The Heliconias Nature Lodge is an excellent place to stay. Everything was very clean and the staff were very attentive to every detail. They made it feel like a true vacation. Also had many activities to do on site, but if you chose to leave they would help get an activity or tour set up. The food was amazing. I would absolutely stay here again if back in Costa Rica.
We absolutely loved our stay at Heliconias Nature Lodge. The treehouse was magical. We loved having a cooked to order breakfast each morning that had four different options to choose from. We really felt like family during our stay and will most definitely be back.
A quiet retreat where you are treated like family.
This is a beautiful little retreat with amazing staff who treat everyone like family. Even though we were there at a tough time (mid Corona-virus) we were stunned by the beauty of this place and how accommodating everyone was. The area is very quiet and they are willing to drive you into town and suggest awesome places to eat nearby. The accommodations were extremely comfortable, with wonderful beds and air conditioning. Fresh fruit and vegetation everywhere.
Extremely friendly/helpful staff, great food, unique treehouse lodging, beautiful grounds.
It’s family owned - very personalized. Tours are easy to book on-site. You get to be right in nature, in a tree house!
We loved everything about this resort. The staff was especially accomodating. The food was excellent, the beds were comfortable, the whole resort was beautiful..
The owner shows you around, everyone is very friendly, and your bungalow is in a tree at the treehouse bungalow! A dream come true, truly.
Very helpful staff, nice location. Quiet and covenient
The staff is made up of some of the friendliest people we met in Costa Rica. The grounds were beautiful and the cabins accommodating and private. The only issue we had was obtaining drinking water and food. They don't have a store on the property (as far as I know) so when we arrived we were very hungry and couldn't get snacks. The bathroom sinks were also not big enough to fit a water bottle under. They do have a dispenser in the main office and restaurant. The restaurant was also a small issue. It's the only place to get food and the wait was very long 2 out of 3 times we ate there, assumingely because they have a very small staff. Those two times we were also served out of order from when we arrived. Again, I assume this was a mistake but it offended a couple people we were with. It shouldn't really take an hour to get nachos when guests who arrived after us got their full meals way before us. We also didn't even get water or our drink orders taken before two other groups who arrived after us had their food orders taken. Again, not sure why this was, they were very kind and apologetic but it made us feel some type of way.
Beautiful property and friendly staff and comfortable rooms makes this location a worth while place to stay and enjoy Arenal!
The glass bungalow with 300 degree views was very unique. Friendly staff very helpful with directions. Many of the fruits and vegetables were grown on property. You will likely see sloths, toucans and other beautiful birds.
Family owned and operated, personal touch made us feel so welcome and at home. Treetop bungalow accommodations in the rainforest unbeatable! Highly recommend!
My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights, and we loved it! Our room was nice and cleaned, but we do regret not staying in a treehouse. Their breakfast was really good, and we loved the restaurant’s atmosphere. Big thanks to Brandon and Alex! They made our stay even more enjoyable with their outstanding hospitality. Loved their energy and friendly nature. We are definitely staying here again!
Beautiful, Natural, Family-Run Hideaway.
Our family (two adults, two teenage boys) stayed at Heliconias for 5 nights. We used it as our home base while exploring the La Fortuna/Arenal area. We had a rental car, which gave us the freedom to explore on our own, but they do make it possible to do many daily excursions directly from Heliconias if you don't have your own transportation or if you want a local guide. We stayed in the "deluxe bungalow." It was not large, and there was not a good place to store luggage (no closets), but it met our needs and definitely gave that rustic feel of being in the jungle while also providing modern conveniences. We were glad to have the AC. The beds were very comfortable and the housekeeping superb. One thing to note is that they are not built to be perfectly sealed (you can see cracks here and there near floors/doors) and are actually designed to be able to open the huge windows up and experience nature. I mention this because we did have an invasion of ants in our bungalow the first night. We were very grateful for the help of the night security who eventually moved us. The staff are fabulous and were willing to help with anything we needed and treated us like family. We really enjoyed the breakfasts! They were made to order and "all you can eat" (not buffet style). Dinners were wonderful too, though we typically ate out in La Fortuna or another restaurant in the area. The downside is that everything is a bit of a drive from the lodge, so you have to plan ahead. Small, clean, pool.
Loved Heliconias Nature Lodge
A beautiful and unique property! What really makes this place stand out is the family that runs it - our family enjoyed getting to know each of them. I highly recommend this place although you do need to keep in mind that this location is not close to town (it wasn't a long drive though).
Love the natural beauty of the lodge, the staff is excellent, the bungalows are very comfortable
The perfect place
We absolutely love this place! This family owned business is definitely service oriented. The cabins are so private and surrounded by nature with so many amenities. Can't wait to go back.
Great place to relax
Beautiful resort, staff is very friendly and helpful. Planning to return soon
It was a wonderful experience to stay in one of the glass bungalows. Comfortable, clean, with amazing views of nature from any angle. The property is huge. After parking, we were transported with our luggage in a electric golf cart for 6 passengers passing by streets of bungalows decorated with beautiful gardens. Breakfast and dinner at the restaurant was also great. Personalized attention of Alejandro providing excellent Tico food in a warm atmosphere. Thank you Omar! Definitively we will stay in Heliconias in our next trip to La Fortuna.
The lodge is amazing experience. The staff is couteous and friendly, the food was awesome. The property is kept very tidy, the vegetation is beatiful and seeing the sloths on the property is a bonus. Our cabin was perfect, clean and very comfortable. I would highly recommend Heliconias Nature Lodge and hope to return again.
We loved everything about this hotel. Having a rental car was definitely worth it because it gave us more flexibility to explore other parts of La Fortuna during the day. We would absolutely stay her again!
Heliconias Nature Lodge
Heliconias Nature Lodge is a lovely place to stay. The food is delicious ( and so are the drinks). They offer several on site tours which we took advantage of. They were excellent. The landscaping is beautiful. It's a ways off the beaten path but well worth the drive. Everything you need is on site.
Returned to Heliconias
My second time staying at the Heliconias Lodge....love the area. Great to see the new additions to the place. Loved the chocolate making session- so yummy!
This place is delightful - the staff is very friendly and helpful with all aspects. It is away from the bustle of town - but located on a decent road. Great gardens & morning an evening creature walks with loads of animals.
My two grown daughters and I took a mother/daughters trip to Costa Rica and stayed at Heliconias. A decidedly great choice. Such a pleasant, quiet, restful and beautiful place. The staff was great and very accommodating to our every need. Their onsite activities/tours were great. We really enjoyed the night walk tour. Our guide was so knowledgeable about all of the nocturnal animals and insects. We even got to see the la ojo rojo, the the bright green yellowish tree frog with the big red eyes you see on all the souvenirs! The hotel provided transportation for us to some of our offsite activities also. They were always very prompt and courteous. The only negative for us was that it was 2 hours from the airport and it was also a 2 hour drive to the Arenal Zipline that we did. I think it was about 1 1/2 hour to drive to do the White Water Rafting.
Would stay again.
Easy to find, quick check in, tour of the property by friendly staff, great breakfast. overall very happy with the Lodge.
The glass bungalows were very unique and allowed you to feel like you were part of the jungle. Great walking trails. Also, the staff were excellent in arranging tours and transportation.
Amazing staff amanzig stay! Gorgeous property. Super clean and so relaxing. It’s for sure one of a kind stay
Comfortable accommodation in nice surroundings
We stayed in a standard room which was actually a small bungalow with a little terrace at the front. The room itself was a good size although the bathroom was quite small. We really liked the hammock on our terrace though (and also the larger ones in the lodge gardens). All the bungalows are set in lovely surroundings and spread out throughout the gardens. The staff at the lodge are very friendly and helpful. They organised an excellent early morning bird watching tour for us with a local bird watcher which was fascinating. We also requested a few things, all of which were sorted out extremely quickly and without a fuss. The same applies for the staff in the restaurant - every one was very friendly and explained anything we didn't understand on the menu to us very clearly. There is a relatively limited choice of menu and the food is fairly plain but we had had some rich food elsewhere in our visit to Costa Rica so we quite liked that. Apart from that our only comment would be the location. The lodge is a reasonable distance from La Fortuna so it is possibly better to have a hire car when staying here as there is a supplementary charge for pick up from the hotel for a lot of the organised excursions. However this does mean the hotel is very peaceful.
The property was so beautiful . The staff were so nice and helpful , especially Diego at the front desk. He helped arrange our tours for us . Highly recommend to stay here .
The service is outstanding. The place is quiet and beautiful. The grounds are well-kept. The restaurant is convenient and the food is good. The cabin flooring was an issue that could easily be solved- between some of the wood boards there are spaces and around the plumbing in the bathroom there are gaps- this allows ants to crawl into the cabin. Also more hooks to hang things, but in logical places not over the headboard of the bed. Other than some simple changes within the cabins, I highly recommend Heliconias Nature lodge! I would absolutely return.
AMAZING. The grounds were lovely. Our cabin was private and tucked amongst the trees. Restaurant was great with authentic offerings but the beaten track so bring some snacks. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Pool was a fantastic place to relax But also so many great activities not too far away!
Everything and everyone was great! Super friendly staff. Would definitely love to go back again.
Diego, at the front desk made sure we were taken care! Thank you, Diego
