Watch out for $28 mandatory daily amenity charge when you arrive - for wifi that is provided free by any other hotel, free bike that no one use, and $15 food that we have no time to use. Also and $50 daily parking charge. It's deceiving low rate is not real.
The staff was extremely friendly. I missed that there was no paper copy of a paper (I know only us old people still want a real paper). Best burger and fries ever.
…
The staff was amazing, beautiful rooms and the food decadent
Friendly staff, wonderful ambiance.
Our service was just wonderful! The room was amazing! The property was beautiful and located perfectly! Stay here if you are coiming to Portland!
Charming Historic Hotel
The location is great and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The building is historic and has been sensitively renovated. The rooms are very comfortable and the downstairs library is a pleasant place to hang out. As a hotels.com silver member my booking was supposed to include a complimentary bottle of wine, which never materialed.
Loved our stay, did not recieve our VIP wine. I'm not a huge wine fan so did not follow up. Great location
Hotel is very nice
Restaurant not available due to short staff.
Loved the conveinence to my seminar, excellent facilities including library and coffee, restaurant.
We will return!
This location rescued us twice; once when a stay elsewhere was not possible and another when our flight was cancelled. The staff went out of their way to make us feel very welcomed.
It could have been a 3 but the bathroom was sooooo tiny. When you are by the sink you would need to go over the toilet to get out the door.
Beautiful hotel in a good location
A beautiful hotel, well located, renovated in 2018 and comfortable. Unfortunately the building is very old and rooms are not well insulated from noise. I could hear everything happening in the hallway and adjacent rooms. Wish they would upgrade to smart TVs as options are limited.
All being said, I would stay here again!
Took stars off because the toilet was dirty and there was urine and toilet paper in it. The dinner service was canceled because of illnesses which is understandable. You have to pay extra for room coffee and no creamer. The lobby coffee was only out between 6-9am which is not late enough! The $15 per night credit was nice considering the amenity fee is $28 per night. Besides that I found it to be pretty quiet and my room was close to the elevator which I thought was going to be a problem. The location was great and it felt safe to walk around at night.
Great location, great hotel and a lovely bar downstairs. Would definitely stay here again
Lovely place
Classy and cozy
We love staying here whenever we go to Portland. Morning coffee in the library and breakfast is wonderful in their restaurant. It is always clean and comfortable
I loved my staff at the Heathman. I was going to see a show at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, the location is perfect. My room was clean and the view was great. Every single one of the staff that I encountered was friendly and helpful. I ate breakfast at the Tavern each morning of my stay, my food was good, and the waitress Connie was top notch.
Historical and Comfortable!
We live in the area and try to see Portland more than just day trips. We chose the Heathman Hotel because of its location to the Portland Art Museum. What a great choice! The best room so far. We loved the original windows protected by energy efficient ones. The Library was cool. It's history was really interesting.
It was fantastic we had 3 one bedroom suites with two adjoining. Staff was great and friendly
We will be back!
I loved the large rooms, nice decor and helpful staff. I wish the restaurant was not closed during the day. I arrived at noon and the restaurant was closed until 4 and would have been nice to get a coffee /snack upon arrival from the airport
I loved how beautiful and clean it looked when I walked in. Also a very convenient location .
Theater weekend stay
Very good for a theater weekend
Excellent Choice for Concert Goers
You cannot beat The Heathman if your visit to Portland includes a show at the Schnitz or the Performing Arts Center. The venues are right next door. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the hotel only sport 10 floors so it is not overrun with people, especially during the holidays. The library room with spacious fireplace is a great place for adults to unwind and soak up the ambiance of the place. Great staff!
Lovely hotel and service; would stay again for sure!
Great location easy walking distance to everywhere
We were overwhelmed by the courtesy and availability from the staff especially Brandon very courteous friendly and professional.
The photos make this property look much better than it actually is. The website claimed that the rooms with king beds would have a tub - this was not true - the bathroom was very tiny and cramped. Also, the chatges for any item/food in-room were outrageous. Example - a snack size bag of chips was $8 and a mini bottle of cheap wine was $30. The location is good - especially if seeing a performance next door, but besides that, we feel like this hotel was not worth even close to worth the price.
Nice place, great time.
Hotel itself was great; we originally were supposed to receive a free bottle of wine with our stay, but since my husband doesn't drink wine, the front desk girl swapped it out with two drink vouchers for the attached bars, which was amazing! The only downside of the hotel is that the only parking they have available onsite is the $55/night valet parking, which we didn't realize until we got there. We ended up parking at the parking garage across the street for 1/4 of the price, but still a little frustrating when you're already spending so much money a night.
Family Friendly
We had a lovely stay at the Heathman with our two boys over Thanksgiving. We had two connecting rooms making the stay especially comfortable. The staff was very accommodating and helpful during our stay. We enjoyed using the gym facilities too. The breakfast was excellent! So much better than a standard hotel breakfast.
Staff is superior
The library is gorgeous -- wonderful place to burrow in in front of the fire! Great staff. Live Christmas tree everywhere. Art throughout the hotel & the rooms. The best hotel experience.
As always, the staff at the Heathman are amazing. Unfortunately, this visit, the bathroom was missing a light, and the hairdryer was broken. None of which, really affected my visit. I will return again!
Loved the library, the hotel decor and location
Great property, excellent service team
Beautiful property with a great library for guest use - perfect for a city built around books! Team was great! Would stay again.
A bit disappointing
The Heathman is beautiful and the staff are great. We had a few problems, though. We went to our room after being out and the door card didn’t work. We asked for help and they forgot about us. We had to call a second time. It turns out the battery had died. It took quite some time to get us in the room and we almost missed the performance we had paid for, next door. Then, when we left, it was apparent that one of the valet staff had changed the radio station and got the floor quite dirty. The carpet was all pushed up on the floor. It’s not a crime to change the radio station but I feel when someone is parking a car it isn’t appropriate to do anything but park the car. When we left the car the radio wasn’t even on, but when we picked it up it was blaring rap music. Not okay. Disappointed.
BEST Hotel in Portland
Gorgeous room, friendly staff, excellent in-room French Press coffee, marvelous stay!!! BEST hotel in Portland!!!
Beautiful building! Great staff 😊 Location couldn’t be better! I’ll definitely be back to this hotel
Its nice, but not sure I would stay there again
As a solo female traveler, the lack of dead bolt, door to adjoining room, etc did not made me feel safe. Also the first day my room was not cleaned, even while I did not have a door sign asking for privacy
It was peaceful and comfortable
Is a great hotel to stay in .
The bathroom was very small. I had to sit on the toilet to open and/or close the door.
Great staff and service, clean and comfortable rooms and an awesome cozy library with a fireplace that was fun to chill in.
The hotel is nice, and our room was quiet and clean. We stayed on the 10th floor. At one point during our stay, our minibar cart started rattling by itself for several seconds. There was no one near it. I guess the hotel really is haunted?
Classic Portland. Well staffed, professional courteous staff and nice rooms.
Lovely hotel, great walkable location, terrific staff. They even let us check in two hours early.
Lovely stay in Portland! Very convenient location for the marathon.
Beautiful hotel on a really nice street in Portland. Kind and attentive staff. We enjoyed our surprise VIP gift!
Overall we had a great stay, room was clean and quiet. Staff was friendly and helpful. Great location to get around town and to providence park. Would recommend to anyone wanting a nice spot to stay downtown.
Wonderful stay
Nothing to complain about, and I mean nothing. Friendly courteous staff, spotless room, extremely comfortable bed. Nice to see the downtown area getting cleaned up. Way too long in my eyes.
Classy atmosphere but dining room and lounge closes way too early -8 PM
I love staying at the Heathman. It is always my go-to when staying in Portland.
Heathman Hotel What a Find
What a surprise to find this gem in downtown Portland. The only complaint I have is the restaurant menu online does not match what the restaurant really serves.
Really nice property. Only issue for me was that the bathroom was really small like only one person can be in it at a time. Also the connected restaurant did not have a very wide selection of food and they were out of some of their alcoholic selections.
The room was very clean and had every comfort needed. This hotel has something unique...a library with signed books. I had breakfast in a very comfortable and stylish library. It was an excellent experience. They are dog friendly which is another big plus. I recommend thr Heathman in Portland.
Staff was amazing, friendly and helpful.
No heat
Great hotel, but we had to have an hour long repair on our heater which did not fix the heater. Our cable went out while the guys were in the room and never came back to repair that either. So, no heat or cable. Was not impressed for how much we paid for one nights stay.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to others - overall wonderful experience!
Second time staying. Will definitely be back!
The library, many books signed by the authors.
The Heathman was definitely iconic with its history and design. The room was large and well appointed and the library was quite charming. The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating, we especially appreciated the special touches of sparkling cider, a hand written card, and complimentary bevies for our anniversary. We will note that we did feel a little unsafe at night with the ever present un-housed population but it was nice to know that there was always hotel staff around. Lastly, we did notice that the air conditioning the unit was quite loud. My wife did have some trouble sleeping because of this but we weren’t sure what could be done seeing as it was unseasonably warm when we visited.
The property itself was nice, tastefully decorated, etc. Our room was a good size, but the toilet/shower area was smaller than expected. I wasn’t aware that there was no onsite parking prior to booking. We had to pay valet in order to have our car parked close by- $55 a day… and there’s a resort fee on top of that. The front desk reps could’ve been more approachable. We did appreciate Jared’s attentiveness and knowledge, and frankly, he salvaged our perception of the staff. Probably wouldn’t book again just because of the parking issue. Felt like we could’ve gotten more for our money elsewhere.
In a great area, lots of restaurants and activities nearby.
Great Valet Parking Service for my EV which was fully charged when it was delivered back to me!
Didnt feel welcomed at all.
I have stayed here many times and still love it. The rooms are on the small side, but the service is the best.
Great Hotel! Would definitely stay again!!!
The hotel and staff were amazing. We would definitely stay again. It’s Portland so be mindful after dark.
Access to theaters couldn't be better. Library was a relaxing, fun place to sit, read and have a drink.
Location
Staff is super friendly. Hotel is very clean. We love the library. So many good books and incredibly comfortable.
I love Powell's books!
Very clean
I got free wine 🍷 and the room looks nice
do not stay in downtown area. streets around the hotel is not safe at all. hidden charges are too high. had to valet which is $55 per day.
Great Stay!
We had a great stay! It was in a good safe feeling location with easy access to everything. The staff was so welcoming and the library was super cool! Would definitely stay again!
Excellent location
What a lovely place! Excellent location and the staff is very helpful!
The library was cool, and the coffee was wonderful. The bathroom was ridiculously small. The homeless population in the area is just scary.
Staff was wonderful! Beautiful hotel!! Would definitely stay again!!!
Beautiful classy hotel. Will definitely stay there again!
Great service
Great location beautiful older hotel well taken care of! Great staff
The hotel was very clean, and great front desk and valet staff. We had breakfast at The Tavern inside the hotel. The food was great, although our server seemed very scattered and overwhelmed, despite it not being very busy.
Not what it used to be
Disappointed, as the Heathman is not like it was 10 or 15 years ago. "The Tavern" is not a good replacement for the excellent dining room they used to have. Housekeeping in public areas could be improved. When we checked in around 5 00 there was a breakfast tray on the hall across from our room...it was still there five hours later and remained until I called the desk. Seems somewhat understaffed...not unusual these days, sadly. The staff they do have are friendly but don't seem as on top of things as they should be.
Lives up to the hype.
This is our 3rd time staying at The Heathman and it’s now my go to place to stay when visiting. It is easy to walk to various neighborhoods from its location. We had an upgrade to a larger corner room this time. The shower is great, really appreciate the big shower head and excellent water pressure. Bed is quite comfy.
Great
Everyone is so nice and happy to help. Beautiful rooms and quiet.
The rooms were well appointed and the beds were very comfortable.
Beautiful Hotel. Front Desk staff and bellman Joe was exceptional
Birthday celebration
This trip was amazing and the hotel staff went out of their way to make sure our time there was perfect!
I attempted to have breakfast in the restaurant and service was non existent! I had to ask for coffee after being seated for about 10 minutes. Then no one came to take my order. I asked for sugar and cream for my coffee which I never received. Finally after about 30 minutes, I left. Imagine my surprise when upon check out, they tried to charge me for the coffee! The room was fine. Coffee in the library was ok. However, it is just not the hotel we remembered from the past…it’s just a shadow of the fine establishment it used to be.
beautiful art throughout the building
Overall good! Didnt like the additional guest fees
My trip was half business, half pleasure. The staff that greeted me from the curb to the room were excellent. Very friendly and attentive to all guests needs. Great location in the cultural district of downtown Portland. The room was clean and spacious. Comfortable bed. The bathroom is tiny and cramped. Good water pressure.
Very comfortable hotel in the center of downtown Portland. We would stay there again.
