Pro: grounds are immaculate and beautiful room is spacious, clean, and comfortable. Cons: food and drinks are overpriced and average tasting; be ready to be hounded by aggressive sales representative regarding timeshare—this was really annoying; it’s the last thing you want we you come to a place to relax. Overall: although it’s a very nice and relaxing place, we wouldn’t return.
Beautiful Resort but no repeat visits
Good/bad news: the resort is beautiful, and the food is actually fairly good considering it has an all inclusive aspect to it. On the flipside, you cannot swim on their beaches, within each building the toilets are so loud you can hear toilets flushing in the middle of the night throughout the building, waking you up every single night, several times a night, so we didn’t sleep well.
This was a beautiful property for four nights in Cabo. The resort had many amenities and dining options and was right on the beach. Please know that the beach it is on as a black flag beach and not one of the swimming ones in this area. Staff were amazing and kind and room was beautiful.
Hacienda Del Mar has been a go-to for our family for years. I know parts of the complex are undergoing renovation… but the older rooms are for showing their age. The rest of the complex is great, and the staff is great. Will still go back, will just be sure to stay in a remodeled part of the resort.
Very peaceful, beautiful resort.
Well maintained
Everyone at the resort is amazing. Except the people that check you in. Our check was supposed to be at 3pm we didn’t get our room until past 4pm. The person that checked us in David, didn’t care to apologize or make up for the late check in. I made him aware of the time and that it’s past our check in time and all he said was yes I know. No apology or anything. He spoke English, and I speak Spanish there was no misunderstanding or miscommunication. Our room that we paid for had an upgrade of ocean view. The view of the ocean from our balcony was, best way to explain it is hold up a nickel with your hand and that nickel was the ocean. Not what was expected at all.
As a former Hacienda Del Mar member for 30 years. Property is wonderful. This time stayed at Autograph Collection. Was disappointed. Was not given the expected room I requested, plus paper thin walls could clearly hear conversation from room next door as well as upstairs constant moving of furniture. Would prefer to stay at former (Sheridan hotel) next time much quieter.
Heaven on earth, plane and simple.
Everyone was nice my only bad experience was with room service the food was bad quality we ordered pizza pasta churros and drinks. Pizza was like microwaved and cold pasta almost dry very little taste churros with strawberry sauce were hard like over cook, also one restaurant had cajun shrimp they had no flavor. But the burro cansado tacos were awesome.
The place is very nice, clean and convenient; I stay at Hacienda whenever I go to Cabo for the last ten years or so.
Great customer service nice and helpful information
There was terribly loud construction going on and they did not disclose it to us when we booked it and so we never even checked in to a room and they still charged us $700 and said we “canceled and no showed”. This is unacceptable and we are disputing it.They were not accommodating or understanding to our plight. I’d never stay there for that reason alone. It was pretty deceiving.
Beautifully laid out, expansive and maintained ‘old style’ property.
The property was beautiful. The staff were super nice and very caring. Our room was right by the ocean. You could hear the waves crashing at night. The property was clean and safe. There are parts that are under renovation and so we weren't able to use the spa and one of the main restaurants.
The property location and condition is excellent. Loud construction during the visit was a distraction. The food service at the on-site restaurants and pool grill was terrible. Waiters rarely came by, difficult communication, some had abrasive attitude.

Perfect location with your family to be far from the crazy crowd of Cabo San Lucas.
I go to Cabo 2 to 3 times a year and always stay at Hacienda Del Mar. The staff is very cordial and helpful, food is great, rooms are clean and well kept.
The bartenders were attentive. The room was dirty and the tub did not hold water and the shower was very dirty, had sand grit in the toilet room. I was charged for my piece of birthday cake, and the person at checkout had a copy of my passport, he checked the birthdate and gave me a smirk, like meh. Not cool at all. Will not return here ever.
It felt like you were in Mexico! And the food was very good!! Rooms were beautiful with a spectacular view!!
We’ve been here 3yrs in a row and always a Good time. At check-in David was helpful with upgrading our room from Garden to Oceanview. (Just to be clear nothing wrong with Garden View we personally enjoy the Ocean view). The staff at Tomatoes are Very friendly & Very welcoming. The bell boys Oliver, Christian, Humberto were very helpful when arriving, during our stay & when it was time to leave. A Great place to Relax and enjoy the views for All ages. We’ll be back Soon!
The increase in employees dedicated to pool and beach service - both dining and with assistance on the pool deck and beach (green shirts) was wonderful! It really makes a difference having those people monitoring and assisting people at the pool and on the beach to secure chairs, umbrellas and navigate busy times. Thank you for this edition. Also - the dining options for the full meal plan are wonderful. So much better than anywhere else we have stayed. The hospitality of all your employees from the the concierge, dining and desk staff, to the cleaning staff is impeccable. It just can't be beat. Though many of the buildings and pool area items (umbrellas, etc.) need to be updated, the grounds are simply beautiful and all areas very clean, including bathrooms at the poolside.
General atmosphere of the property was great. A bit on the expensive side for food and drink ( we were non all-inclusive). Didn’t like the sales pitch when first arrived! Staff was great and extra shout out to a Thomas on the beach, he goes above and beyond! We will return for sure.

The property was beautiful!! We had a wonderful time here. The views were breathtaking and I loved the beach! The service was phenomenal and the resort was super clean. Great restaurant to pick from, all with wonderful views. Zero complaints. You will NOT be disappointed here! Only downside are the vendors, they can be a lot but they are only allowed on the beach.

The property is stunning in terms of landscaping and layout. The resort is a bit older, but it has a rustic Mexican charm, the food is fantastic especially at the buffet, and it's a quaint and friendly resport.
The property was clean and maintained. However, it shows signs of age (peeling paint, chips and stains in the bathtub and sinks).
Would like for the property to have more ambiance for guest like music at the bar, it seem like around 9pm all is quite, not much too do. Other hotels they have more night life, de Cortez it’s a nice restaurant right by the beach was disappointed they closed very early, went for a drink and no more service

The staff is friendly and prompt. The grounds are beautiful. But some furniture movement noises could be heard in upstairs rooms in the middle of the night, 2 nights in a row, preventing a peaceful sleep. We thought it might be the staff storing tables and chairs for an event, but the front desk denied it. Our friends experienced the same in their building on the same nights. I have a feeling we were not told the truth. Nothing was offered for the inconvenience.

This is a very beautiful and large property. I had the three bedroom suite with ocean view. Absolutely breathtaking views. My only complaint is that food is awful and overpriced. I’m a foodie so good food is important to me. This forces you to go to town every day for your meals and shop & cook in your kitchen if you have one. I still can’t believe how awful the food was. $20 for one bottom shelf shot? No thank you. If I’m going to pay for crazy over priced food it at the very least needs to taste good!
We loved our view of the ocean from our room. We loved all the seating viewing the ocean. The food at all the restaurants was delicious. We felt the prices on food and drinks was unreasonably high. Our room was perfect.
Could have been better
Let’s start with the positive: the resort grounds are lovely and the landscaping well cared for. The restaurant staff was pleasant and helpful; the breakfast crew at Tomatoes was particularly friendly. A few pools and beach chairs to choose from for sunbathing. The negatives were: shower obviously not cleaned when we arrived (stray hair and body wash smeared on walls). Even after I called about this problem, the shower remained not properly cleaned. Details were overlooked like the lack of mini bar in our room even though we paid for it through the all-inclusive. And when the mini bar arrived after I called, it was not consistently replenished as it should have been. Also, the cost of food and sundries at this report was ridiculous. You know you will pay more at resorts, but my friend was charged $27 US for a replacement bottle of sunscreen. The pricing at the restaurants were also unusually high; we were so happy we went the all-inclusive route. Our last night there we went to the steak restaurant for a nice dinner. There was a drunk man there who decided he was owed dances from my friend and I. When we rebuffed him he became angry and kept coming back to our table. The staff did nothing to remove this threat from us. The manager apologized and said security was called but 30 minutes later security still had not shown up. This drunk man’s behavior was so unacceptable that people from other tables took to looking out for us and warning us when he was on the move.
I have always stayed at Hacienda Del Mar because the staff is always cordial and professional. it is quiet and food is always excellent.
The property is good, but I’m met with Expedia
We had a room refrigerator that did not work, called front desk, they promised a repair person would show up. That never happened which was very frustrating as we had food/drink that went bad. Also, had shower that did not drain, called front desk again and promised a repair man that never showed up. When I checked out of resort, I brought it up to agent checking me out and ironically she did not even apologize for the inconvenience. I cannot recommend a hotel that does not address room problems when guest call to notify them and they take no action. Frustrating to say the least in particular for the room cost, food and drink costs.

This resort was very basic. The level of service, from the people at the front desk to the service at the restaurants, horrible. Employees working the host stand spoke zero english so making dinner reservations was next to impossible. Food service was the work I've ever seen.

The whales were quite a spectacle, all day! We even ventured out on a boat and felt as though we'd seen the best of it from our pool deck at Hacienda del Mar. The staff was amazing, the food was good (it is family friendly so not quite the spice you'd hope for in MX), the pools and amenities were superb, I recommend Irma at the spa! She's a healer -- tip her well!

Ok, but not great.
I'm not new to Cabo or this Hotel, This is my 4th or 5th stay here. I hate to say it, but I really can't highly recommend to stay here anymore. Originally I booked an upgraded ocean front room. Upon check-in was given a ground floor with only partial ocean view, and the back of a hotel restaurant with a loud generator running 24/7. Was told that was all that was available for that night. Got moved the next day, but late in the afternoon and it was a hassle. The other issue was the cleanliness and temperature of the pools/Jacuzzi's. First off the pools were freezing cold, and only 1 jacuzzi was working on the property, but the water was gross and it was full of sand everywhere on the seats and bottom. There was also lots of uneaten food around the pools like chips pieces, lime wedges, it was gross. Food and drinks are also ridiculously expensive. I'm talking the bufffet dinner $45+ USD, Mexican brand beers are $8 each, and one night we ate at the steakhouse on property and it was $350 for a party of 3. It's simply pure grered and unacceptable to be charging these kinds of prices, and we won't be back.

For the price, it’s a lovely property. It’s older and needs some cosmetic touch ups including the landscaping. Food is a bit overpriced for the quality, drinks aren’t strong, rooms not super quiet, pools cold, seems like they are training a lot of new staff including the spa. The time share pitch right off the bat upon arrival was annoying. All that to say, the staff was pleasant and we enjoyed our time on the property. We had a great deal and a killer ocean view on a corner room.
Most wonderful time!
We had the most wonderful stay at Hacienda Del Mar! Celebrated my 60th birthday with my family. The staff made me feel special throughout our stay. Every staff member was so kind and caring of our needs. We loved Regulo at the pool, so great in taking care of us! Dennis at the De Cortez restaurant was so fun. The food was delicious at all the places and we recommend the all inclusive meal plan. The beach is beautiful and we enjoyed our daily swims in the morning. Seeing the whales was also such a high point as we were having breakfast each day. The architecture of this hotel feels so authentic not too modern, we liked that traditional feel. Spa was amazing! We will be back again to visit this special place! Thank you to all staff for making this such a memorable vacation.

This hotel was fine and the staff was very kind, but the rooms are dated and the food options were mediocre- especially for vegetarians. The walls in the rooms are also very thin and we couldn’t sleep well at night. There was construction nearby and very noisy with loud banging. We also had an incident where the indoor alarm went off every few minutes for over an hour when we were trying to rest during the daytime. Also, we were very disappointed that we could not see the ocean at all from inside our ‘ocean view room.’ The pictures online are deceiving and we could only see the ocean from corner of the balcony. I don’t think we would return to this hotel in the future.
We’ve been coming to this hotel for that last 10 years and have always appreciated the staff and service. This time was very disappointing. We got a “no” and “can’t do” with every small request we had. It’s sad to say that we probably won’t be coming back…there are too many other hotels/resorts that I’m sure would value our business!
We stayed here after our original reservation was lost through Expedia and VRBO - as stranded travellers Haciendal del Mar was a good 2nd option after 2 days of frustration looking for a suitable replacement- the sounds of something that sounded like sliding furniture in the middle of the night was quite bad one night but the manager the next day was well on top of it - very helpful good staff
Beautiful, quiet, restful, great food and service. Enjoyed the whole stay. The only negative was no washcloths, or hand towels, and not enough bath towels-one day, we (2) would have only 2 towels to use.
Service with folks on the phone was horrible and electricity didn’t work in half of our room. We complained and it was never fixed. We also paid for an ocean view room and were not given it.
We have come each of last 10 years and love it!
Friendly staff
Over all we enjoyed our stay. Loved the balcony and ability to watch whales from there. Resort was right on the beach. Beautiful location and easy to go play in the water and beach. Resort was super cute and very romantic. But the shower leaked all over the floor. Did not like the time share persons that approach you everytime you walked thru the lobby. Difficult to get to help when needed. Everyone was too busy to notice you. Advertised high speed wify, this was only available in a room next to the lobby. Went to one of the restaurants was told we needed a reservation but there was few people there. When we pointed it out they seated us but it felt like they didn't want us there. Staff didn't explain much, assumed we knew what to do... lots of guessing. When we asked for help, we felt like we were an annoyance. Our package was supposed to include breakfast but we couldn't find where our how to get that. Restaurant waiters were either really nice or acted like they didn't want us there. Never knew what we were going to get. Last couple of days we ordered room service and ate offsite.
Beds are very comfortable and property absolutely beautiful.
Our stay was excellent. We loved everything about this property from staff to service and property grounds. We definitely give it a 5 star. Only inconvenience was checking in. We arrived at 2:30 and was told we had to wait an hour as our room was not yet ready. However, overall everything is excellent. Thanks Hacienda Del Mar and your wonderful service and staff.
This is an amazing and sprawling facility with offering that appeal to families, singles and mature patrons. There are several restaurants that fit most budgets. Excellent service staff, spacious rooms and breathtaking gardens and beaches. Their pools offer options that can appeal to all taste. The only reason this is a 4 rating is bc the rooms furnishings could use a refresh. This is my 3rd repeat visit.

Beautiful views. No bad rooms, all great views, get a top floor for panoramic views. Wales were seen from the pool chairs! Loved the turtle releases.

The housekeeping was exceptional Needs more places to eat. One was overly expensive. The other was closed a few days for weddings. Pool area nice and drink and food service was great. Only negative was all their wrought iron railings in the whole resort were corroded. Needs to all be replaced. Gardens and buildings beautiful.
The pictures online do not do the property justice! This resort is STUNNING! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, Mauricio was awesome and will give you great recommendations. Also the property is so huge make sure you stay long enough to explore it all. I will be back very soon :)
Amazing hotel and service
We did the all inclusive deal and it was worth every penny! Sometimes all inclusive gives you bad drinks and service but this absolutely the best either of us have been at. Our room was clean and HUGE. The property was beautiful! The views were spectacular. The food was amazing. Next time we go to Cabo I will absolutely stay here again. They made the trip excellent!
As regulars who have been coming to this property almost every year for 20 years, it is sad to see that since new ownership has taken over from the Sheraton group, there has been a slow but steady decline. Staff are awesome and friendly but managements first priority is Corporate dollars and not vacationing guests. We just stayed for 9 days and corporate events closed down half of the pool for 4 days, forcing a shortage of pool area that left everyone scrambling. When asked why, the manager told us that they have to abide by their Corporate Customers wishes as " they pay more ". Not the right answer to loyal guests. When asked half jokingly if they would at least buy us a breakfast for the inconvenience, they laugh and say they can't do that. Sad to see this great location deteriorate. We will not be coming back again.

This was my first time in Cabo and it was amazing! The resort is in a beautiful location with views that are incredible! The resort grounds are immaculate and well kept and the service AMAZING!! Victor, in concierge, always went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and like family. He is also great at capturing beautiful photos. He really got all my angles!!! I looked forward to seeing him when we needed transportation to the gate. The Victor who managed Tomates was very friendly and accommodating. The Italian and Mexican night buffets as well as breakfast buffet were delicious. Although, I do wish they had more seafood options. For $30 it should have at least 3 different seafood options. It was only 1 each night! Bummer! Market night buffet was very lackluster. I wish we’d gone went off site or tried DeCortez. The biggest disappointment was the room location. We were in room 1312 which was outdated and in front of an active construction site. Not at all visually appealing. We kept our curtains closed most of the time because we could see men walking around working on top of the buildings in front of our unit. Also, the cabinets were so darn high! We had to step on our tippy toes to use the microwave and could not reach the plates and cups at ALL without standing in a chair. All in all, we were surrounded by a beautiful and lush landscape and happy people, so it made for an amazing birthday!!

Perfect place for couples and families. Beautiful resort, exceptionally clean and very friendly and helpful staff. We discovered this precious jewel 12 years ago and have returned ever since and in most years twice for a 10 night stay. We are typically met by the bell captain Joel who knows the resort inside out and makes certain our beach front room is perfect. We especially enjoy our breakfast at Tamates restaurant. We refer to the staff there as our second family. Starting with our hostess the perfect morning begins. In particular I’d like to mention the wonderful servers Rocio, Adelina, Natalia, Maglia, Lino, Juvilo, Abdiel and Jose who have are Mimosas waiting for us when we arrive. Housekeeping and room service is also top notch and we prefer to dine at night on our spacious balcony. It was a hidden gem when we discovered it 12 years ago but word has gotten out and it’s now flanked by a new Four Seasons on one side and a Hyatt on the other. It however remains secluded and has the best staff and beach in Cabo Del Sol. Finally they have numerous fabulous restaurants for fine dining we just prefer our balcony
