It’s a reasonable priced hotel

We booked non-smoking room, but they cannot provide the requested room type on the day of check-in. This is not acceptable for a star hotel. They should not accept booking if cannot provide. Also when we have breakfast in the morning, this is first time no staff leading us the a table. They just asked for the room number and let us go in and find the table ourselves. We walk around and cannot find a suitable table and need to request staff the move the table eventally.

The room has a very nice view and very clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly too and the amenities is very good. Close to a lot of restaurants and public transportation is convenient. Only thing need to improved might be its lighting and the sign

The staff are friendly but lack basic English communication for an international chain. bed is comfortable and pillow options are available. getting up to the room is a hassle, you need to go up to the 22nd floor and then change elevators to go back down to your room. The location of the hotel was pretty good, but I would recommend staying at the room facing the park, our room faced the road in which you can hear car honk and construction noise. The layout of the room was stylish and reasonablem, but has some smoking odor even if we stayed at the nonsmoking floor.

Customer service is on point!

The staff were amazing , attentive and helpful, especially on the Club Floor . The Club Floor lounge was very well equipped with delicious evening snacks and great service.

Room looked nice at first, but upon further inspection quite a bit of disrepair: dirty walls, dust and dirt along surfaces and edges. Staff was friendly. All services (pool, spa, gym, etc) closed due to coronavirus. Room service adequate but not great.

Overall good for room and service. There’s only sauna inside men’s changing room but is not enough for relaxation, need to be improved. The guys at hotel entrance are not friendly at all, what a pity.

Check-in: Everything was smooth, just when booked the hotel room, there was no notification that the pool is not available. The hotel employee was kinda arogant and didnt want to make up for that mistake, after insisted on something, he finally agreed to do something. When we came back from our city trip, there was nothing left in our room, no breakfast voucher or anything. After calling the reception we got a fruit platter served to the room. Better than nothing but that always going behind the things and that they dont do what they promise. Thats not 5* hotel like! The pool could be used at Park Hyatt around 600m from the Grand Hyatt, but need booking in advance etc. thats not relaxing. Room: The room itself is already aged, furnitures have many marks of usage. Also the electronical equipment is old. The bathroom was clean, as far as I could see. The bed was very comfortable. but there are two light left and right from the bed. And they shine red all night long, it would be okay, but its directly on your head, so its never really dark. Room delivery: we ordered water bottles to the room and took time. Around 8 min later the water was delivered. I think thats average time, but still okay. What was a bit disappointing was the coffee. A 5 star hotel offering instant coffee instead of a real coffee machine (Nespresso) is nowadays rare. Overall it was a good experience since we got good sleep

Smoky smell room and poor service

The experience unfortunately was quite poor for me. I booked one night twin room in this hotel and requested specifically a “non smoking room” but the room still smell. The stand twin room had a weird layout, thought spacious on the website it has a very tiny basin in the toilet and tiny/small bath tub you have to sit like a “butterfly” and can’t stretch your legs not even for a small Asian girl like me! When checked in the hotel, the service was suboptimal. I was asked if I want to change to a king room instead given my fiance and I travelled together, which I thought was thoughtful, but 20sec later the “supervisor” looking guy said to the lady at the counter said “depends on her grades, we can give her a king room or double twin”... then was told can’t change to a king room with the same cost and plenty of vacancies as I can tell from the website... anyway, this supervisor had no eye contact with me and didn’t make me feel being respected. I travel frequently as a business exec, didn’t have a good experience with Grand Hyatt Beijing from 2014, thought I will give it another try after 6 years in Guang Zhou, clearly wrong decision again! Will definitely let colleagues and friends know...

The concierge was quite impatient. One of the cab drivers waiting in pick up line refused to take me and my friend so we asked the concierge for help but he refused to and asked me to pay extra to the cab driver.

Nice welcoming reception Our request while booking has been already ready for before check in. Nice cleaning and good view room. There is biggest green parking from Guangzhou, in front of facilities. Easy to walk any biggest shopping mall; especially if you want to reach Tee mall, Grand View Mall and Parc Central Mall, it is only 15 minutes walk securely. Highly recommended.

Overall not bad

I have stayed plenty of Hyatt in China and around the world, the service of this hotel is well above average and even better than some of the Park Hyatt. The hotel is pretty old but renovated in recent years so facilities were not bad. The location is pretty good but not as good as the Park Hyatt down a few streets.

Always pleasing here. The staff and the design of the hotel are world class. Unfortunately there are many obvious signs of wear and tear. Breakfast and the restaurants are great.

Wonderful, excellent! The breakfast is very copious. The view from my room was incredible nice , same when Manhattans penthouse! The dinner also was excellent, any country kitchens ( not only from China, Japan, Italy etc ) The restaurant boss name is Alen very helpful man and offers local specialties! Very good trip !

Rooms layout abit strange as the sink is housed in a standalone island unit. The furniture feels a little dated but room is extremely clean and well kept. I must commend housekeeping for the fabulous job - my charging wires are neatly rolled up, my clothes were folded nicely and arranged neatly either on the chair or placed on a laundry mat on the floor (where I have originally left it). It’s the little attention to detail that makes all the difference. Location wise it is situated right next to the park, literally at your doorstep. Mall of the world is also right next to hotel so finding food is not a problem at all. There is also a huge supermarket about 5-8 min walk away

Luxurious hotel with friendly staff. Great location in Guangzhou.

Well to start off i kept my money in the safe when i got there i had about 4500 US dollars i thought i locked the safe. I went out but when i came back the safe was open i counted my money and they were missing about 1300 USD when i notified the hotel they said they coudnt do anything for me since there was no evidence that i had that money after that we notified the police we didnt sleep the whole night and they didnt give me a dime. Even the night that we stayed at the police station they also charged me for that and the rates were crazy then since there was a fair. Its weird that a five star hotel would have theives and burglars and whats worst is them doing nothing about it. Really disappointing, this was the worst hotel i have ever been to.

Excellent condition hotel!

The location and the view from the hotel room was amazing. The condition was fabulous! It was very clean everywhere. The staff was very nice to assist at the door. The swimming pool has three different temperature pools. The only strange thing is that the lobby is at 22nd floor and every time client need to leave the hotel has to go back up to lobby and switch to another elevator to go down to the ground floor.

5 Star Hotel in CBD area

Front Desk upgraded my stay with complimentary breakfast. Breakfast spread was amazingly good with lots of varieties and garden fresh. One of the best breakfast I ever had!

nice location within walking distance of subway lines, museum, opera house, library and an impressive wide open square. Bathroom design a little odd. Sliding doors do provide some privacy. Restaurant is very expensive and staff should be a bit more knowledgable about taking wine orders. lighting control inside room hard to learn and perhaps better explanatory signs or booklet may help.

Great hotel, can be upgraded though.

Our stay during the Canton Fair break was amazing. We stayed in Club Room. The hotel smelled good, the room is clean and wide. The bed is really comfortable. The location is located in center of Zhujiang New Town which was very modern and clean. However, compared to any other 5-star hotel, this one was a bit lack of extra service (usually I got fruits or some sweet treats in room for other hotels) and the variety of breakfast is not so many.

The room layout is strange. Never stay in a hotel with bath tub and shower room behind your bed. Staffs at the front entrance are rude. If you park your car at the parking lot, you will need to take 3 different elevators to get to your room. Location is okay. The whole experience is average at best.

disappointed

First I found the bathtub is rather small compared with other same grade hotel in GZ. The towel on the bath floor was full of long hair when i checked-in which is a disgusting. (I'm guy with short hair) The more disappointed was the hot water was not hot enough for a bath in Winter. I don't understand it is suppose a 5 stars hotel and one of the most expensive hotel in GZ but i cannot take a hot bath after a full days work. The manager was very nice to explain the situation but the next day just the same. I can't believe it is Grand Hyatt. By the way, the staffs are very friendly and nice. Nice breakfast, and everything else is fine.

Disappointing for Hyatt

Being a loyal Hyatt customer I was so disappointed with this stay. Starting at check in when they could not find my Expedia reservation and were really not solutions oriented, just stating that they had not received it. I had to push for them to solve the problem and give me the expedia rate as per my confirmation email. Secondly the room we got smelled of mould and humidity. We changed to a room that instead smelt of cigarette smoke. We added a breakfast and after work drinks package. When we came down to eat breakfast the staff said we had not paid for breakfast and when I said we had they just kept insisting that I pay. It turned out that the package we had bought only entitled us to breakfast in a separate lounge. I have never experience this at Hyatt. The club Hyatt does not exclude you from other facilities of the hotel. The dinners we had (room service and the french restaurant) were not a good experience either. One of the room service dishes was inedible. The french restaurant seriously over priced and the marinated vegetables with the salmon we ordered were some salad leaves with dressing. The bar could have been nice had it not been for the live band that played every night. Sounded like karaoke to me and I felt quite embarrassed on their behalf. Check out took about 30 minutes. Very complicated but at least the nice girl at the desk was apologetic about it.

Amazing Experience

Fantastic. Superb service as characteristic of Hyatt hospitability. Central and convenient location along the vibrant Mall of the World with all its amenties. The cultural venues of the Guangzhou Grand Theatre, museum and library are all within easy walking distance. Highly recommended.

Quick upgrade response to electrical issue

Quick overnight business trip that required sleep to be prepared - didn't quite happen. Have stayed here numerous times. Excellent location close to public transport. We arrived late, check in was quick, no problems. However every 20-30 mins or so the entire room would activate all the lights and air con. Being kiwis we looked everywhere in room for the fuse that could be causing it. Turning off the air con, unplugging stuff....by 2am finally rang reception who sent a technician who arrived quickly and ascertained that we needed to move room. Reception arrived and we packed up and sleepily followed - to discover we'd been upgraded to a giant corner suite! Interestingly no note appeared to be placed on the file (or it was ignored) as reception on check out made no mention of the issue.

High quality hotel

Nice hotel in good location. Meets Hyatt standards. Weird reception on 22nd floor. A lot of ups and downs in elevators but once mastered, all is okay.

Probably would not return

A nice location and very decent rooms pretty much make up for the absurd 22nd floor lobby which forces all guests up, only to have them transfer to another set of elevators which takes them back down to their rooms. What is inexcusable and will probably keep me from returning is an internet connection which is so slow that it is all but impossible to work from the hotel. Now a days this is not a luxury but an absolute necessity. It's nice that it's free, but I would much rather pay for it and have it work.

Great hotel down town area

This is my first time in Gran Hyatt Guangzhou and I can say I will come back only to this hotel for my coming visits to Guangzhou. The service staff provided and the home feeling at arrival is price less, more after coming back from visting factories and work hard! the Spa is gorgeous and the Restaurants with excellent food and service. Nice hotel overall

Had a nice stay over all. Food was a little expensive and there is WAY to many rules to get into the pool area. You must check in, sign a waiver...got told I wasn't allowed to sit on the edge of the hot tub bc I was Capri's not in a swim suit. Cannot go into the pool just to relax... had to be swimming laps with a swim cap. It was just annoying because there was NO one in there except for us. These "rules" seemed a little silly. Went to the spa to find the relaxing spot I was looking for and it went better.

The bath tube is too small, strange square shape, not like one in a 5-star hotel.

The hotel is located at Tinhei area which is the commercial centre of Guangzhou. The room is spacious and clean. The design of bathroom is very unique and a bit peculiar, as mentioned by many others before^^. In general, I would recommend this hotel.

The air conditioning was bad as it can only provide heating during our stay. It may be fine for the guests from northern but definitely make us whom come from Hong Kong very uncomfortable especially in the night.

Lovely hotel in Guangzhou

First class accommodation, with spacious accommodation and everything you need. The staff were very friendly and I had a surprise for my birthday bought to the room, which was lovely. Ideal situation.

Indescribably wonderful hotel.

I stayed here for work and I wish it could have been for a longer visit ! The rooms are beautifully designed, the service (staff) is above par and the food is delicious. I had some issues with phone signal once I put the blinds down at night but the wifi was very good. The hotel itself is gorgeous and well located within walking distance of shops, restaurants, the park and other landmarks.

Ideal downtown hotel with easy access to metro as taxis can be hard to find when it rains in Guangzhou.

Bad experience

I booked the hotel through hotels.com, but when I reached that hotel, the reception said cannot find out booking, and that was midnight, so I didnot have any idea that I just pay and stayed there for one night. That was a such experience.

Awesome Hotel

The hotel was awesome I stayed there while attending the Canton Fair. The people were warm and friendly the food was great and the room was totally great. I would definitely stay there again.

The Chinese way maybe ....

Extremely good all round with one big problem - the hotel allocated it's only open bar to a big high door cost disco type function on New Year's Eve - so when returning to the hotel from our own function it was not possible to have a glass of champagne in the hotel on New Year's Eve!!!! We were invited and advised to use room service - at a minimum cost of AUD$45 per glass this was a bit rich.

City view

Overall the hotel is fine! During my dine out between 7:15 to 9:30pm, obviously someone entered into my room eating and drinking as grapes and tomato left in the floor and my drinking bottle has water that I haven't been used it.

Incorrect informaton given by Reception

We were looking for food at late night. But the reception gave us incorrect information about restaurants closing hours and made us wander around incorrect area looking for food. He should have called the restaurant instead of giving us incorrect info. Room setup was abit weird.

Great Experience

This hotel meet all expectations. The employees are incredible. They think of your every need and make sure you are satisfied. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet and the drinks in the lounge. The bed was very comfortable, not hard like most of China. They layout of the room is fun and funky, the view was superb. There is a nice green garden area outside the hotel (there is an underground mall with some stores) shopping and ex pat areas are near. A wonderful experience.

Awesome location, with matching staff

We had the opportunity to experience service that was not only consistent, but top notch at every turn. The staff could not do enough to ensure you were taken care of at every level. We upgraded to the club lounge and again the service was the best. We have traveled the world and always find the Hyatt a great place to stay, but this service and personal touches the staff show is unbelievable. The location is great for business and pleasure. Access to anywhere in the city is short taxi ride from the front door. You receive genuine care for any need you may have and a smile to go with it, which at many hotels is hard to find. We would recommend this hotel to anyone that is looking for the full package from the great food to the spa and of course the rooms are very comfortable. Would not stay anywhere else in Guagzhou. Thanks to all that made our stay such a pleasure.
