There was no AC during our stay. It was very uncomfortable to sleep in the heat. We asked the staff about it and they said they"turned it off until further notice because it wasn't working perfectly". Also the comforter and pillows smelled like smoke so there was no escaping cigarette smoke even with a non-smoking room

Lovely property, unbelievable views, incredibly helpful and friendly staff, great shuttle service. Only needed Coffee/tea in the rooms and working AC.

The staff was EXTREMELY helpful with all the questions we had. They were professional and polite. The hotel it self was very nice and clean. The views from our room were AMAZING. Ttg shuttle was very convenient and fairly often. I would definitely stay at the this hotel again.

We had a sea view and the view is outstanding. There’s a shuttle that is convenient for the 10 min drive down the mountain to Sorrento. A taxi equivalent is 23 euros. Service at the hotel is excellent. All the team (be it at reception or at the restaurant) are very polite, kind and attentive. My only negative comment would be that the breakfast could be better. There’s lots of choice for cold cuts, pastries, cakes etc but it would be good to have more hot options, especially different types of eggs.

A two-star hotel at best

There is nothing “grand” about this hotel other than the size of the crowds at the dining room. I have never seen a hotel that touts itself as a “four-star” hotel put disposable PAPER cups in the room and bathroom. We were told in reception that the hotel was built in 1982, but if it was, it was built with 1960s materials, down to the Corby trouser press in the room (seriously??? Who uses a trouser press these days in a holiday destination??). The breakfast, thankfully the only meal we took at the hotel, was downright mediocre and was easily the worst breakfast of our entire three-week trip - the “orange juice” was weak Tang (or was it Kool-Aid?), something outrageous in a region famous for its citrus production… I could go on, but I think you get the idea. Do yourself a favour and avoid it. The piano bar singer in the evenings does sing quite well, however.

Hotel was immaculately clean. Very pleased with the room. Fantastic pool area and the shuttle bus was invaluable. Only booked bed and breakfast and Breakfast was good although most people suggested that the food was average. Sorrento is a wonderful holiday resort with so many nice restaurants. Recommend booking the classic trips to Amalfi coast and Capri from the hotel. Good value and pick ups and drop offs at the hotel.

Only one thing I liked was the pool. However, there was no pool side service. If you wanted a drink you had to get it yourself at the bar. Only gave one beach towel for the entire stay. If you wanted it cleaned you had to pay extra for that. Limited amenities in bathrooms. No tissues, hair conditioner, lotion and making up the beds was half fast. Disgusting foul smell in the bathroom and when the air conditioner fan was turned up high. The lobby and 1st floor lounge area had old worn/ torn chairs and decor was dated. The outside grounds also needs updating and grooming.

Returned to our room to find workmen in it, no prior notice given by hotel, and we were made to feel uncomfortable for being in our room that we paid in excess of £250 per night for! Shuttle bus is also quite useless.

This is a really nice property. Our room was clean and be had a beautiful view. The shuttle to and from town was a huge plus. The only complaint we had was that the restaurant staff were not very friendly.

The bus schedule wasn’t as frequent as we liked. Would have been nice to call for pick up from hotel when needed. Bar tenders were the best. Young Indian man trying to remember his amen was always there and excellent as well as his manager at pool bar

Wonderful hotel just a little outside of Positano. A very organized free shuttle gets you back and forth to town. It was reliable, quick and easy. The hotel staff were very accommodating and the breakfast was a nice touch each morning.

Walls paper thin. Overcharge on wine. Far from town and inconvenient as there are no sidewalks to walk into town. It’s up the mountain on a super busy street. You need to take the shuttle which runs every hour and a half. Good size rooms and bathrooms. Good breakfast. People were nice overall.

This felt like a lovely luxury stay. The location was a little tricky and although there were a couple of issues with the shuttle bus, this did not really impact our stay much. The only thing I would suggest is having more transport options available at the end of the evening as it could get a little stressful knowing if you were going to get on the shuttle or not and taxi's are very over priced for the distance. However, the hotel is amazing, and the staff couldn't do enough. The pool is lovely and there are some nice options for lunch. The bar staff were so friendly and the evening entertainment was excellent with amazing views of the surrounding landscape. Our room was lovely and always kept clean. We did have an issue with ants which was sorted immediately we brought it to the attention of the hotel even though it was late at night. We felt very looked after, and the trips organsied by the hotel worked out really well and worth the price. I would definetly reccomend it and I look forward to staying there again.

I love the hotel, front desk staff was excellent. The view from our balcony was spectacular. I had a problem with the transportation, the bus driver was very rude and passed up several people waiting at the bus stop for return pick up to the hotel. The breakfast buffet was okay.

Hi! I had a great stay on this property. The staff was very helpful and the hotel super nice. They offer transportation for free to the city (which is key!!). I highly recommend this hotel. Our room had a terrace and was really nice. A few things to improve: - The tours offered by the hotel where way far expensive than outside -Breakfast was good, but it could be better. Try to improve the quality of the scrambled eggs

We stayed 5 nights in room 325 of this excellent hotel. The room from the large balcony was absolutely breathtaking. All the staff were very friendly and the Reception staff were particularly helpful with any queries - I booked our Pompeii/Vesuvius trip with them, which was excellent. I requested a kettle and it arrived efficiently! Nothing was too much trouble for them. The hotel courtesy bus to Sorrento is excellent and essential - we walked it once but, in the heat, it is hard work! The pool is lovely and there were always enough sun beds. The pool staff were so kind, helping a disabled guest in and out of the pool with great care. We were “breakfast only” and that was fine. We have had better 4 star hotel breakfasts with eggs/omelettes etc being cooked in front of you - but it was ok. We did a ferry trip to Capri which was good. Be aware that the Sorrento to Positano bus is crazy busy on a Saturday! Think its quite busy most days but we tried on a Saturday. Each half hourly bus holds 50 passengers and when we arrived at the bus station, there was probably 200 people already waiting in the queue in the heat, so we were told we wouldn’t get on a bus for 2 hours!! We decided not to bother and, if we had read this fact anywhere, we would have tried on a weekday instead! We would highly recommend this beautiful hotel and, for sure, all the friendly and helpful staff, - including porters, cleaners and everyone - really make your holiday perfect!

Good place to stay - slightly out of sorrento town

Overall good stay. Easy checkin. Breakfast ok but slightly limited in choices. Lunch menu again ok. Only ate dinner once - buffet dinner - expensive and not great. Rooms good size. superb view from front of hotel over the bay. Bus transport to town often overcrowded and required wait for bus to return for transport to and from the hotel. Service at the hotel excellent. pool area clean and lots of beds/shade when needed.

Love this place! The pool was amazing and shuttle was used a lot. Perfect spot!

1. The staff were amazing. We arrived very late,.and the manager immediately called ahead to the restaurant (ballroom with incredible views) to expect us, even though we were past the hours, and were served an amazing meal. Afterwards, though pretty late, he again set us up for shuttles and tours, gave us recommendations for driving to Amalfi and Positano. 2. The food options at breakfast and at dinner were outstanding and the view is amazing. 3. They have an excellent bar on an open water facing terrace with very reasonably priced drinks. You can even sit and sip water, they really don't push you at all - the staff here are super friendly as well, and they have live music most nights from 830-11. 4. Parking is available and free should you choose to drive here. 5. The location is amazing. Close enough to use their free shuttle to be in downtown Sorrento in 10 minutes, far enough to not have constant noise. 6. The rooms are extremely spacious and well appointed.

Very far up the hill and every taxi charged min 20euros for a 3-5 minute drive! There was a shuttle bus that we found out about later, that ran every hour from the hotel. Very old hotel, rooms just ok, didn’t look the best.

The photos on Expedia don’t do this property justice. This resort was the highlight of our two week trip to Italy. As many mentioned, the food is less impressive than the rest of the resort, but I’m not a foodie so it didn’t bother me too much. The free shuttle into town was only a 6 minute ride and was always on time and efficient. The staff were all friendly and helpful with any issues we ran into. Definitely one of my favourite parts of our trip.

Every ammenity is available. Had a sea view balcony room with breathtaking view. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Bath tub was odd in design but not a big deal. AC could have been a bit cooler in room. Breakfast was much better than expected. Pool, bar and restaurant were all enjoyable. Wish there was a later shuttle bus back to the hotel to enjoy a late night downtown. A taxi ride was €25 each way (that gets a bit pricey night after night). Lobby is beautiful and front desk staff was always pleasant and willing to assist. Would recommend staying here and I hope to be back again soon.

Grand Hotel Vesuvio

A large hotel just outside the centre of Sorrento with an amazing view over the bay of Naples. We paid for the cheapest room type but were lucky to have been upgraded to a room on the 4th floor with a balcony view over the bay and to Mt Vesuvius. The room was recently refurbished and was very clean, spacious and had everything we needed for a four night stay. The pool area and gardens were nice, cared for and relaxing and all the staff were so polite and helpful. We appreciated the free parking and shuttle bus into the centre of Sorrento which runs roughly once an hour. The only real negative was the choice and quality of the food on the breakfast buffet, which could be improved.

The hotel was relatively empty but service & variety of food in breakfast didn't suffer from that. Good WIFI. Not near old city & port but have free shuttle to & from the city. Swimming pool which we didn't visit. OK Restaurant in place for dinner. Very good service, help in organize Capri tour, Pompei tickets.

Great hotel, good value!

Lovely hotel, friendly staff! Convenient parking and excellent internet both included. Breakfast could be improved, same commercial scrambled eggs and white beans every morning for hot food. Pastries were fresh, yogurt and juice, cereal all good but canned fruit!? Omlet station or fresh eggs would be great, fresh fruit would complement the fresh cheese, ham and tomato. Shuttle service (free) was a life saver!

Our stay at this property was amazing! We had a wonderful time… Very clean very professional the room was clean and quite. The mattress was a bit lumpy but the air-conditioning work and everything else was great it was a balcony the bathroom was very spacious the shower was huge and the water pressure was extremely good. pool was amazing and the shuttle service into town was a definite bonus!!! We would definitely recommend this place and hope to return!!!

A little way outside the town centre but the tradeoff is the hotel enjoys amazing views over the Bay of Naples and also the hotel has a large pool and plenty of space. Particularly noteworthy is the regular and efficient bus shuttle service. This is particularly important as taxis generally are very expensive..

Disappointing

The front desk staff definitely is not a fan of American travelers. The woman who checked us in was sweet but after that the staff tended to be condescending and flat out rude. I have worked in the hospitality industry for 10 years and could not believe how unwelcome I felt at a hotel I was paying for. To make matters worse I left my hat and they are trying to charge €40 standard shipping to send back, without proof that it is exactly how much it costs. Being that I had such a poor experience, they haven’t exactly built great rapport or trust with me, so I am unsure if I am being scammed! Plenty of air bnbs and beautiful hotels in town to stay at, definitely do not stay here!

Great location of the property. Although it was not directly in the busy main part of the town, it was easily accessible by the shuttle coach bus (yes, a coach, not a typo) that ran all the time, even to the late PM hours. I much prefer this as the hustle and bustle of beautiful Sorrento was easily available when you wanted it but not so when it was time to relax. We must have taken the coach 6 or 7 times and they were always on schedule. The views of the Gulf of Naples from our room was breathtaking. Room itself was nice and well-maintained but could use a little improvement on the AC as they are not used to American AC tastes. A tad humid but again, not keeping us from getting a relaxed sleep. We asked for some help with finding an outlet and they were up in like two seconds to help. Cleaning staff very friendly. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise in a spacious and elegant dining room. Love the self-serve cappuccino, pastries and fruits, although the eggs were very tasty, they were a bit runny for my taste. Pool was huge with chairs aplenty. Hotel desk clerks were very responsive and never experienced a line there more than one person deep. Their English was good enough. In terms of negatives, wish the place had a fitness center as they have ample room for it and a large amount of visitors to make good use of it. Did not like the Italian keyboard at the business center. Could not find the @ key, lol. Minor stuff as you can see. Highly recommended hotel! Have fun!

Nice spacious room with a balcony. Breakfast was terrible. Coffee machines didn't work, mostly had sweet, not much else. Front office staff was very helpful. They booked us on a tour to Capri which was very good. Dinner at the hotel was not much to write home about. Shuttle to the town goes great.

No work etiquette

Even though the hotel looks grand on the picture the cleanliness is very bad. Silverware were not cleaned well, it had food sticked, glass smells so I couldn’t drink. Bar service was very slobber. None of them are interested in their work, no enthusiasm, very slow & bad customer service. No work etiquette. They won’t use thank you , please or smile. Over staffed. Four people to clean one small table. Looks like the management is very bad.

Excellent hotel in a great location

We had a fantastic weeks stay at GHV - the location is superb with great views, good food and a relaxed environment around the pool. Only slight issue was with the shower which didn’t work very well but otherwise the room was excellent with lots of space and comfortable beds. The free shuttle bus is really useful for getting to and from the town centre and runs frequently throughout the day/evening.

This was a beautiful hotel. We were pleasantly surprised at how elegant it was. The view from our balcony was breathtaking and romantic. A wonderful thing was the shuttle to Sorrento. It ran early enough for our boat tour, but late enough to accommodate a late dinner. All in all I would recommend this hotel.

The location was ideal as a base to explore the Amalfi Coast. Shuttle into town was very helpful the front desk staff had an interesting attitude. Coffee was only available in the restaurant after 7 am. Rooms where outdated. Would not return there other better choices

I liked the location. I didn’t not like the breakfast hours and the rushed if you get there during the breakfast times but close to the end. They rushed us and removed the foods. Most places I have been they have the breakfast hours until 11am and if you got there 10 min before closing they still let you have your breakfast without any restrictions. I also did not like the pool hours. They close it at 7pm even though still sunny during the summer long days.

I had my wallet stolen between Naples to Sorrento and when we arrived at the hotel, Carlo the manger at the front desk helped us deal with the matter. The hotel is nestled up on the hill side but having the shuttle bus going to the city centre was very convenient. The room and view was great along with the breakfast. All round the hotel made our stay.

Spacious clean room with a fantastic view over Sorento. The pool area w as lovely. We really enjoyed the terrace where we could sit and enjoy some live music with a drink while overlooking Sorento.

Our room had fabulous views to the ocean which was beautiful. The room was huge however it was disappointing that the bed for our 3rd person was a foldout bed when the space easily allowed for a proper bed. I don’t like paying money for a foldout. This definitely let the room down.

Nice full service hotel with a great view

We arrived late night driving from Rome. Our room was ready, and we were in bed in no time. Woke up in the morning and the view from our room was breathtaking. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The shuttle to Sorrento was convenient and frequent. We extended our stay 2 more nights to enjoy the magnificent and stunning beauty of Capri and the Amalfi Coast. Wish could stay longer.

High end hotel with beautiful views from your room if you wish, very clean, very accommodating and friendly staff. Hotel has 2 restaurants and a snack bar area if you want to eat there. Hotel also provides you with free bus rides to and from center town of Sorrento(15min drive). All around excellent hotel.
