Vacation
The hotel is very nice and clean close to a shopping area. Room was pretty spacious.
DON’T STAY HERE!
Rude employees. Room not cleaned over 5 day stay. Sheets not changed. Argued with guests. Better hotels right across the street. Crown Plaza, Radisson, etc. Used to stay here for business but NEVER AGAIN!! Looks good but it has gone down. Try other places. Don’t get fooled like I did.
When we arrived the hotel, the Reception Manager being very impolite and rude, when we requested whether there is an upgrade of room when we are Gold member of Expedia. Last time they upgrade for us, so we requested is it possible this time.
Very nice. Good on the executive level was a little disappointing and was only avail e for 3 hours, 5-7pm
Shanghai stay
Fantastic service from the reception team, very clean rooms to a high standard Great location for metro and shops and great restaurants just 2 minutes walk to nanjing road 10 minutes walk to the bund which is an amazing site as it lights up
Always a great service from this hotel. I always arrive early and they always have a room ready for me- the main reason I always choose this hotel. Great location for sightseeing, easy 2 minute walk from line 2 exit 4 and good value.
Hotel is centrally located easy to walk to main street amd the Bund
Lovely, clean and friendly
Amazing hotel, really nice staff, very clean and well maintained. hotel very close to main road, lots of shops, restaurants and night light close by.
Great hotel in a great location
Old time charm but clean
Clean room, wonderful service and convenient location
My room was beautiful, and so is the lobby, and the location is central and excellent. Many staff spoke English. But the front desk was not very welcoming or helpful— they immediately started trying to upsell me, confused me about breakfast, and rushed me. The cost of breakfast is highway robbery for China. Compared to other hotels I stayed at, I didn’t think it was all that great. There are lots of food options nearby, good shopping, not too far from the Bund. Great for a quick stop in Shanghai at the end of my big trip around China.
Excellent stay.
Love the location! Close to great food, shopping, many attractions, and metro. Services and staff were excellent. Great amenities.
Bad service at the front office
The front office outrightly rejected the request for check-in at 12noon citing only that check-in time is at 2pm. The reception did not even bother to check whether any rooms are available. Guests from overseas do frequently arrived at odd hours of the day. Some improvements required for the front office staff to handle such requests more tactfully. And when it was time to check-in at 2pm, the front office staff are overwhelmed with the long-queue of hotel guests checking-in all at the same time. Adequate staffing should be deployed to ensure smooth check-in by guests.
Excellent
It was a nice 5 star hotel just we didnt like the variety of food for breakfast ⁰
Great hotel, professional staff.
Excellent Hotel/Location
My hotel of choice
I have been travelling to Shanghai for over a decade and the Grand Central has become my hotel of choice. It is a very well run hotel , clean , comfortable and convenient. I have stayed many times and I would highly recommend this hotel
Good
Great property, great staff.
Inspiring big dining lobby
Nice new hotel in central location with walking distance to many major attractions
Request for change of bedsheet ignored
Card placed on bed to request for a change of bedsheet was ignored at this 5 star hotel.
Great location for walking and shopping
It was a very pleasant stay. The staff were friendly and respectful. Cleaning and laundry service were very considerably and flexible to fit our time frame. Front desk responded fast. The location was very convenient.
Great place to stay in Shanghai
Great hotel in the heart of Shanghai, less than 5 min walk from the pedestrian street and metro station with line direct to Pudong Airport. Rooms were large, well appointed, and very comfortable. Buffet breakfast had a large variety of western and asian food. Would recommend this hotel.
Excellent location; just beside the bustling street so it’s quiet but still near the heart of action. Staff were polite. Breakfast was alright. All in all, I’m happy I chose here!!!
The hotel was centrally located and very convenient for the day tourist. There was relative lack of service and quality for value. Breakfast was average at best.
Fabulous location and beautiful hotel
Amazing, location fantastic
Excellent location, great staff a perfect stay for those wanting to explore East Nanjing shopping.
The staffs are very professional and friendly.
Great property, pretty, clean. Concierge brilliant. Reception ridiculously rude. They obviously have a picture of what 5* guests look like and it wasn't us 😂 (I am black and we dress casual ie branded jeans and hoodies) room service also good.
We were upgraded to a larger room. Breakfast is good with both western and Chinese food. Location is only 100 meters to the main shopping street of Nanjing Road.
Booked the hotel for my parents stay. They enjoyed the hotel and the nearness to shopping and food.
Central location, close to shops, park, subway station and walking distance to the Bund.
All item in room look too old, got a smell when entering the room. Room is too hot and air con is not working.
Very convenient and location is great!
Great hotel with very friendly staffs. Room was huge and grand and walkable to Nanjing walking street and the Bund. Overall a great and value for money hotel.
Good location, steps to one of the major subway lines. Also convenient if you're looking to frequent Nanjing Road East and the Bund is about a 30 min walk away. Property and rooms are a bit older and a bit outdated. Staff (excluding housekeeping) not the friendliest by any means; definitely did not give off hospitable or welcoming vibes.
Location is great, room is good only the heating system is very bad, can’t control by room which is my room is super hot and the hotel manager said just open the window to keep cooler, and my room become freezing and noisy , they don’t want to fix the problem. When check out time, the receptionist didn’t ask which room but took the room keys and mentioned that I should return 4 keys, which is wrong. After 10 minutes she asked the manager, she said that she put wrong room number! What’s kind of service!!! I ordered the taxi to the airport, I mentioned to go to pudong airport the night before, but they told to the taxi driver go to different airport, lucky my husband heard the conversation between them, so the taxi driver change .
large comfortable room with big bathroom, shower and tub. Everything looks new and well maintained. The location is great within one block of the pedestrian Nanking East Rd shopping area. Only a few minutes to walk to the Bund too. And the subway is also within a block. I will definitely stay here again (having stayed here a few years ago!). Highly recommended.
Convenient location and friendly staff. Very clean and comfortable beds.
Everything was lovely, new, clean and well maintained property. Our 2 rooms, were side by side on high floor. Location is near everything. Would stay here again
Great experience !
Room aircon didn’t work… so hot it was a nightmare…
Not as ok as before
Not so comfortable, the room is very hot, air condition unit is not working well despite of constant calling their attention. They just told us to open the window which we did but still no air going inside, just construction noise only coming in. Maybe they should change our room for better air circulation but they didn't. We used to like this hotel before and stayed few times there, but this time we're disappointed.
Hi Team. I just checked out of this hotel and I had a terrible experience. Throughout my stay the heater was not working and the duty manager couldn't care less. I was shivering all night and had the most uncomfortable sleep. I will be contacting your team tomorrow once I get back home. I demanded refund for my stay but the hotel couldn't care and asked me to contact expedia.
The staff there very friendly especially Mr Andy great service.
Physically beautiful hotel. Well kept but facilities a little dated. Very well located a few paces from Nanjing Rd East, the pedestrian street and a short walk to the Bund. Not very good for food, but lots of that outside nearby
Solid location which is mainly why I got it. Staff were friendly and able to help with hailing taxis when necessary. Rooms were spacious but a little dated and the shower needed a bit more cleaning around the corners of walls/floor. Overall, I recommend.
Ok
Great location, nice property and spacious room. Will be my hotel of choice when I return to this magic city.
The location is so convenient for dining, shopping, and transportation.
great hotel
very nice hotel located in the city centre of Shanghai, the room was very well equipped, however the bed was not as comfortable as some others, but the bathroom was one of the best. The breakfast was very nice with good choice of food. The staff and cleanliness was excellent.
Hi, I would like to follow up regrading I stay in Grand central hotel Shanghai on 20 Sep - 24 Sep. I have use my credit card to pay for the room deposit 2000 CNY, until today I still haven’t get the wave deposit from my credit card. Please do check for me. Thank you
The room was specious and clean and the location was easy to excess to the shopping mall and train station
Love the comfort and view of outside, super friendly and helpful
Good location close to metro
A very nice upscale Western style hotel right in the middle of everything in Shanghai. You are a block away from a main pedestrian street, walking distance to the Bund area as well as other sights. The hotel staff was very prompt and courteous, as well as helpful. The internet is fast (unlike my last hotel) although you do have limitations on what you can get to, such as Google products and most social media. You may want to use a data card to access your accounts for these. The restaurant also has a lunch special, you might have to ask for it (there is a sign in the elevator) for an all you can eat Cantonese dim sum lunch, it was very tasty and a good way to try different dishes without going from food stall to food stall on the street. Overall, a very nice stay. I usually don't stay in larger, upscale hotels, since I am traveling for longer periods and usually like laundry and cooking facilities, but I thought this hotel was a good value on this trip and a very nice facility.
Good value and location
We enjoyed our stay here. Great location, nice room, good breakfast and dim sum. Would have been helpful for them to provide a wifi code but received when asked. Concierge not all too helpful.
All is very good, Wi-Fi is China problem and not the hotel
Really enjoyable stay, great room perfect location for downtown Shanghai.
Great location very close to the Shanghai Metro and shopping. Excellent breakfast
Walking distance to Nanjing North road shopping street, next to metro station. Good service, polite staff.
Location is great , walk distance to the bund, pedestrian shopping avenue and Yu Yuan. Every staff member was very nice and helpful. Swimming pool, hot tub, sauna room and steam room, all are very good and relaxing.
Great stay
Fantastic business suite room. It had 2 bathrooms on opposite sides. My only complaint (just like every hotel in China I’ve stayed at) the room struggles to stay cool. Nice open lobby. You can pay to get access to happy hour (free snacks and beers and liquors). Carpeted rooms with a classic feel were welcomed.
It is very convenient to the bond and all shops. Staff friendly and welcoming.
I had great time at this hotel. Everything is perfect. Love this hotel very much.
Great location, breakfast is below average for the money. Ball service staff are great.
The staff is very helpful. I needed to mail out a package but didn't know much about how and where to mail it. The staff kindly mailed the package for me.
Loved the hotel and the staff and service were excellent. Very professional treatment. Definitely staying here again.
good hotel & poor service
As hotels it’s very good but the service not good it’s poor
The service at this hotel is superb, and it's in a perfect location if you want to see Nanjing Lu and the Bund. Great shopping!
Grand lobby, beautifully appointed rooms, big hotel rooms, central location, friendly staff.
Was unable to fly to China for Visa issues and hotel would not refund my reservation
It was a very nice hotel. The staff really went out of their way to provide a great experience.
Over all is okay, waiting for over 10 minute to check out.
Awesome high end hotel in convenient place next to train. Only negative is that I’ve stayed here twice now and the showers in both rooms have been hot and cold. Quite annoying.
Great location to see the city only one block away from exit 4 of subway line #2 Did not eat at hotel, lots of places to eat nearby Free drinking water in room
I am in an electric wheelchair and they were great with me. Breakfast buffet was fabulous, room service arrived within 30 minutes as promised and was delicious. It is 2 blocks from the hop on/off bus and around the corner from the famous shopping street. You can walk to the Bund if you want a good walk, but it easier to take a taxi.
For 4 1/2 stars hotel they have to improve the service about Restaurant buffet is very poor quality from breakfast and dinner very disappointed ☹️
Your staff is not as friendly as at Regent Hotel in Beijing, overall not too bad, good location and comfortable bed.
My room radiator wasn’t really warm, but my parents’ room was alright. No complaints about other things. Location was great, just a walk away from Nanjing East station and the shopping belt.
Great experience
Next door to all the action, 2 minutes walk to the metro and 2 minutes walk to Nanjing Avenue walking strip, few minutes walk to the Bund, and many more.
Wish the WiFi didn’t require a text passcode. Had to pay international roaming charges just to get that text message. Otherwise it was a great hotel. Great location, nice spacious room.
Excellent service and amenities, great location and hotel very clean with good sized rooms.
Nice location! Easy access from airports. Got upgraded to a nicer room with toys by the reception when they saw our five year old. Will stay here again next time in Shanghai.
Stayed for 4 nights, the deluxe room with a king bed is very spacious, quiet and comfortable. Hotel location is excellent with plenty of eateries around, also close to the subway station. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. I would definitely come back again.
Good
Great location, very clean, friendly staffs. Nice place to stay when visiting Shanghai.
Fabulous Shanghai Hotel
I stayed at the Shanghai Grand Central Hotel for 5 nights and had an excellent stay. The bed was super comfortable and the room was clean and spacious. Staff were very professional and courteous. Concierge assisted me with my train ticket purchase to Beijing. Hotel is located near numerous shops and restaurants near the Nanjing Road pedestrian area. Easy access to several subway lines in People's Square and East Nanjing Rd stops. Subway to the airport only cost 7RMB (a little over $1!!) and to Hongqaio train station for only 5RMB (less than a dollar!). My only gripe is that TV has very limited English stations. I went to Shanghai to attend the Shanghai Masters tennis tournament for 4 days and was surprised to find little or no coverage of the matches on TV. There were maybe 3 or 4 English language stations. Other than that, I had an awesome stay. This is my third stay at this hotel and will definitely be back next year for the tournament!
Great location. Our previous bookings would show that we’re more keen on smaller boutique hotels not really our kind of place
Loved the hotel and location is great. Not so impressed with Expedia’s disclosure of pricing. Hotel is superb!
A government official stayed at the property and the security was very inconvenient for the guests. Required going through scanners, bag checks, rude treatment of guests. Treated like terrorists! Compromised guests. Room service and cleaning terrible. Left coffee cups and beverage cups for days without removing. Not a 4 star hotel, let alone a 5 star. Will not stay there again!
Spacious, sufficient lighting, friendly house keeping staff. Shower gel insufficient for 2 people
Hotel is relatively clean, spacious room. Hotel staff are friendly & helpful. It is convenient as is near the famous tourist spots & lots of shops & eateries around. Hotel not providing toothbrush & toothpaste not the usual practice for other hotel in the other parts of the country. Overall stay is comfortably satisfied. Thanks.
Great position in central Shanghai. Close to Metro
Beautiful hotel with incredible service from every staff member. The spa and pool were a highlight along with the perfect location and beautiful atrium
