No sleep until 5am

Don't get any rooms next to a wedding group. I had too bang on their door at 3am because I couldn't sleep. They thought it was their right too keep everyone else awake. Hotel staff did nothing except told me it was a wedding party. Explains why NONE of their parents wanted the room next too them.

Fix the elevator in Tower 2. It closes very fast , I don't think the safety work's on the doors. I complained about it in 2019 and 2022 and it's still the same in 2024

Not so good. I think just because I booked through Hotels.com, they gave me a second floor room next to the street. It was very noisy early in the morning. The room also smelled of dank and sewage that has not been cleaned in a long time.

Room was nice, it was spacious and had a lot of furniture. Location of the hotel was also near the mall and a lot of public transportation is available just outside the hotel. Only issue I encountered was the breakfast was not delivered the following days.

Has basic gaps but makes effort to be responsive

No hotel is really perfect. Thus, what is equally important is how the hotel appropriately rectifies or makes up for the gaps and deficiencies to make guests as comfortable as possible. Astoria Zamboanga is such hotel. I found the cleanliness and overall condition of my room very poor. Initially, the room was tidied up upon my request. But the staff did not stop there; they transferred me to another room, which was not only better maintained but also was bigger and of better overall condition.

Its great that the hotel is in the city. The staff are friendly and no problem. But the facilities may need improvement. The elevator is too slow and needs upgrade, its not yet full with people but its already alerting with overloaded. The water in the dispenser in the hallways is not cold. They may also need to improve breakfast.

There was no hot water. No mobile phone signal, and the wifi was extremely weak. There are bed bugs. the sheets gave me a rash and itchy. Terrible hotel. Will not be booking this establishment again. I would give it less than a star.

Wifi is OK on the 6th floor only!Me and my sis-in-law felt harassed by the housekeeping guy on the 6th floor because he’s holding his private parts everytime he saw us!!The room boy,staff serving breakfast and the front desk staff were friendly and accommodating except for the lady guard who’s not courteous in greeting guests coming in..there’s cockroaches on our room on the third floor(because we changed room on our second booking) and it was so disappointing...but over all stay is OK. Thank u!!!

Bed was clean. Air conditioning worked. But no hot water in shower. And the complimentary breakfast was only rice , egg, bread, and fish heads. But most importantly to mention as well is the water they served at breakfast was tap.. and no warning. I got sick as a result. The only other option for liquid was coffee. Asking for a slice of cheese cake for dessert meant talking to 4 staff members at the same time. Asking for water was a bit of a chore for them for whatever snarky reason. This hotel is not meant for foreigners. Locals may like it? Im not sure?

Think Twice

We had to check-in at 9 am because our bus arrived earlier than planned. The receptionist said that there was no available standard room because no one checked out yet. He pitched for an upgrade to a deluxe room if I want to be able to check-in right away, and I had to pay extra Php 800.00. I paid and checked in. The room was not the cleanest. The headboard was dirty, there was no foot mat in the bathroom, and the furnitures and sanitary fittings were old. I made a complaint and spoke with the manager. Unfortunately I had to leave for a meeting so I told her that we’ll settle the issues when I get back. When I got back around 5pm I asked if I can be transferred to a different room. The receptionist was quick to say yes and offered to refund the php 800.00 that I initially added for the upgrade. The nee room that I was given was cleaner and had a bigger bathroom. In a nutshell, the experience was not the most convenient and comfortable. However, I am thankful to the staff who helped resolve the issues and proactively offered to refund the extra payment.

Good value for money but needs better maintenance

The hotel rooms are good value for money; been going back to stay here. Great location as well - not too far from the airport and within the city's main commercial area. The beds were comfortable, EXCEPT for the pillows which are old and really thin. I asked for thicker ones, and they gave me 2 pillows jammed into 1 pillowcase. The hallways were also dirty, and water from the sink faucet tasted bad (even for toothbrushing). The breakfast buffet can be better - that is, be more breakfast in fare rather than a chinese lunch.

Nice hotel in the centre of town

I had a single room in the new tower, great room but air conditioning and fridge a bit noisy, but I rented a couple of extra pillows as you only get one, room service is OK, but no food after ten pm, Which is the restaurant closing time downstairs, The restaurant is good and cheap, the staff are very friendly and helpful, I would give the astoria a Good 3.5 out of 5, excellent value for money!

Good hotel, located downtown

The room was quiet and cold, perfect for the hot summer in zamboanga that I spent. The staff are mostly courteous and attentive, with a few exceptions. The room service food was OK, delivered relatively fast, just don't expect chef-prepared meals. The free internet was good enough, it worked for an hour or so, then I kinda had to turn Wi-Fi off to relog to the network. But the speed was good enough for browsing, whether in the lobby or in my room. The room cleanliness was sketchy, there was mold on the upper walls, the bathroom tile grout was dirty in places, but the bed was perfectly made every day, new sheets and blankets. Do expect to pay extra for a second pillow if you get the single room. I looked forward to resting in my room every day I was in zamboanga, so that's saying something for Grand Astoria. :)

The room was quite nice. Newly renovated as I stayed at the tower 2. However the bathroom was very dirty. There were a lot of dirt on the floor which looks like molds. Aside from that, everything was fine.
