Gorgeous, intimate hotel with beautiful appointments. Location is great but, because its in the heart of the tourist section at the river, expect noise at night. Highly recommend having dinner at the hotel.
Such a lovely comfortable hotel! All the staff were very friendly and attentive, especially Arthur at breakfast service who excelled at learning each guest’s preferences and offered great recommendations in town.
Couples trip
From check in to check out, very friendly and helpful staff. Great location and view from both the room and restaurant over the waterfront. The room itself was clean and spacious with a nice powerful shower Would happily stay here again. Great vibe with all the musicians on the waterside
Very quaint boutique hotel in a great location. The room was beautiful, with a wonderful view over the Duoro river and Dom Luís I Bridge. In easy walking distance of everything (although being Porto, there are lots of hills). The included breakfast was absolutely delicious. All cooked fresh to order rather than a typical buffet. All staff were very friendly and helpful and we appreciated the complimentary bottle of Port in the room. We enjoyed listening to the music outside in the evening, but keep this in mind, as this continues late into the night so may not suit everyone. Surrounding bars/restaurants are okay for a drink to take in the atmosphere but are very touristy. However, there are plenty of choices all within walking distance.
We loved everything about the hotel, most of all the service (special shout out to Bruno). The hotel restaurant's host was wonderful. The chef bakes fresh bread, including gluten free options.
Amazing, right on the river. Outstanding service and staff!!
Excellent
Great view , friendly staff but area around hotel entrance not clean , very touristy. Bathroom very small , hole in the carpet ….
Fantastic stay. Great view of the river and delicious made to order breakfast. Friendly staff.
Great location on the river, nice and comfortable room, bed and shower. The staff gets 6 stars for their service! Only thing to consider was that the music playing outside below along the river was pretty loud until 10 or 1030 pm, which didn't really bother us, in fact the singer was pretty good, but our friends in another room tried to sleep early that night and said it was hard. We would still come back and stay there again.
We loved our experience at Gran Cruz House and your excellent team. Thanks for making our stay and experience so memorable and exceptional.
Perfectly Charming
The Gran Cruz House went beyond my expectations. The staff was helpful and friendly. The room decor was attractive and authentic, overlooking the river. The breakfast was elegant and delicious. It was a lovely two days in the heart of Porto.
Great location. Loud until 10 pm Creaky stairs at night. Great breakfast and lovely staff
Stay Here!!
We had the most wonderful and magical stay at the Grab Cruz House. The morning attendant, Arthur, was amazing. He took care of us every morning and gave us ideas of places to go and things to do. He also got me a birthday reservation at a wonderful restaurant nearby. This hotel has a lot of style, sits right in the middle of one of the best areas to mill about and has a terrific staff that is very accommodating. We will be back and we will tell our friends all about it! Great value overall for all of the experiences we had!
Would not stay anywhere else if I went back to Porto. Amazing location and facilities.
Great location.
Beautiful small 8 room hotel on the prime corner overlooking the Porto waterfront- not quiet- but great music playing in the square until about 10 - parking is a few blocks away but worth leaving your big suitcase and carrying in an overnight bag - best restaurant ever!
Great location close to everything. The staff was super helpful and in particular Artur who was the waiter at breakfast was fantastic. He provided great recommendations on touring and was a fabulous waiter.
I absolutely loved this property. We stayed in the pink room overlooking the river, and entertainment square. The welcome reception port sample was lovely welcome, and then the bottle that they supply in your room was superb. The view is outstanding, but I will say that if you are sensitive to night noise, it is in a very busy area that parties late into the night. We didn't mind this - we simply shut the doors and put on white noise. The complimentary breakfast was fantastic, and our server remembered our likes (coffee, juices, pastries), after the first day. This really is a gem of a hotel!
Great location in center of everything. Staff does a fantastic job, even packed us a breakfast when we had to leave for an early flight. Restaurant was a surprise, it’s a really great dinner option with great view, food and service. Loved everything about this place.
Great location in Ribera Square, fantastic small boutique hotel, great restaurant & staff extremely polite, helpful & everything you'd hope for.
Stayed 3nights. Very comfortable and clean, air conditioning worked well/ quiet. The noise from the street was audible through the vintage/ old single pane the glass but it died down enough by11pm or so... didn't have to use ear plugs though it was nice that they're provided. Antonio at the front desk was very pleasant and helpful to many questions and provided a recommendation (and got us reservations) to a fantastic restaurant for dinner ( Adega Dona Antonia ). Breakfast/ items was also very good including the coffee and very attentive/ friendly service from both waiters on both mornings. The third morning they packed us a breakfast to go since we had to leave early. Small/ inconspicuous entry to hotel Might be hard to find if you don't have a guide. We would recommend to stay here. We were on the 5th floor ( Vintage room)
Location is amazing. Delicious breakfast.
The hotel staff went out of its way to make my wife and I feel comfortable. We loved the 2nd floor outside bar with a beautiful garden. The hotel is on a quiet residential street very close to very nice restaurants and bars.
Fabulous location and beautiful rooms with great views of the river and square
Stunning
Fantastically helpful staff, cute hidden lobby, and GLORIOUS rooms! I was very pleased with the value. I will be recommending it and staying again, on a longer trip.
Stunning
Fantastically helpful staff, cute hidden lobby, and GLORIOUS rooms! I cannot believe this wasn't triple the price. I will be recommending it and staying again, on a longer trip.
Beautifully restored antique building right on the riverfront with BEST restaurant and delicious complimentary breakfast and intelligent staff.
Everything has been perfect
The white room is beautiful and has beautiful views of the river. Very clean, well maintained, excellent staff. We left super early to catch our flight, and they surprised us with a to-go breakfast box from the restaurant. Very nice detail and came in handy!
What a beautiful hotel! Our room was fantastic with an amazing view. Close to everything! The staff was very nice too!
Fantastic boutique hotel right near the Duoro River in Porto. Staff was fantastic. Highly recommended!
Lovely place. Even better than the pictures. Directly on Riberia Square so expect some noise but it more than makes up for it in comfort and finish.
Noisy as on the riverfront
Property is quaint and beautiful. Located right on the river. Staff is great!
Lovely staff who were so friendly and helpful. Excellent location with loads of sightseeing and dining options. Make a dinner reservation in their restaurant for a great meal as well.
This was a wonderful boutique hotel that was a perfect place to stay on the waterfront in Porto, within walking distance to everything we wanted to see. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom facilities were good. The front desk staff were helpful and friendly, especially Antonio. The restaurant was so good that we did most of our dining at the hotel. The breakfast that was included was very good as well. It is a lively atmosphere with lots of cafes on the street but when we closed the windows and shutters it was remarkably quiet. We enjoyed the street musicians as it added to the ambiance. Would definitely stay there again.
Fantastic staff, great location with made to order breakfasts. Would stay here again.
The hotel, itself was lovely~ spacious room, well appointed, and excellent location. The review is unfavorable due to the hotel’s restaurant. We ate their complimentary breakfast Saturday morning and had reservations for Saturday night (we did not eat anything else on Saturday, as we were looking forward to their menu offerings). We ate Sunday’s complimentary breakfast. Immediately following breakfast, my wife started to have diarrhea. Within 2 hours she was vomiting uncontrollably. My malaise set in around that time, and I experienced the same vomiting and diarrhea . It is 48 hours post our dinner, and 33 hours post our breakfast, and we are still sick. I hate to leave such a negative review, but I also feel obliged to warn other travels.
Views are amazing, great comfortable beds and the energy around the property make this a great stay
Incredibly nice staff. Breakfast had bread, juice, and your choice of something cooked and was very good. Rooms are well done and look nice. Only complaint is it is in a very lively area and it can be late outside until the crowd quiets down (also one of its positives).
Perfect location for this intimate property! Staff was super friendly and the made to order breakfast was delicious! We had dinner there as well and the staff was so helpful and knowledgeable about the food and wine!
Lovely staff and great spot!
Every little detail of this property is perfect. The location is superb. Just don't drink too much port like I did! I will be back.
Very helpful and friendly staff. We had a great view overlooking the river. Very lively area
Amazing stay at Gran Cruz, Porto.
The staff is very helpful and courteous. The daily breakfast is cooked fresh and amazing. Perfect start to a day of walking around Porto. River views were exceptional.
Amazing and helpful staff. Delicious breakfast. Beautiful boutique hotel with 5 star bed and linens. Lively location with lots of restaurants and shopping. Very loud plaza at all hours of the day and night so if you are a light sleeper use a sound machine app.
Friendly, welcoming staff, very professional, and helpful
Solid choice in Porto
Great hotel right in the middle of it all. Bruno is awesome. Helped us with restaurants, cars and trains. Great restaurants all are walking distance. Check it out!
Beautiful, unique property with amazing views. We loved the Pink room--the design was beautiful and very functional. The hotel is at the bottom of the hill, but we knew that going in and chose it for the views of the river, which were well worth it in my opinion. So many great restaurants in Porto, including by the hotel. Breakfast was very good and quick even though it was made to order.
Property has the best location, service, restaurant.
Very enjoyable. Great location on the river. Easy to walk to many area. From booking to leaving the staff was helpful. Gave advice on activities ahead of time and booked them. Helped over and over while there. Felt well taken care of. Room was very nice, breakfast very good. Would highly recommend
Great location, right in the heart of the action in Porto
Very noisy. The room was not as they advertised. Staff were nice
The staff was very nice, the breakfast was amazing, the room was comfortable BUT……I received a message from the Reception before arrival that they would send a car to pick us up. They DID NOT MENTION THAT IT WOULD cost me 35 EUROS!!!! We weren’t even offered any Amount of the TOTAL cost of the room. I will be asking for a refund of $35 from Expedia.
Perfect spot right on the Douro River. Charming small hotel with a lively staff and great restaurant .
Very cute boutique hotel in a prime location on the river. Sightseeing was all quite walkable. Staff were incredibly friendly and breakfast was delicious. Room (non-balcony) was clean, bed was large, bathroom decent size, great water pressure but overall, a smaller room. Overall, would recommend to anyone looking to stay in the riverfront, old town part of Porto.
Staff was exceptionally welcoming. They provided a very sweet birthday letter to my partner and complimentary bottle of wine without even requesting. Location is prime (right on the waterfront). Breakfast was delicious. We can not wait to visit again. 5/5
A lovely bouquet hotel
Perfect spot. Great hotel
Thanks for your great hospitality
The best
We loved the hospitality, the location and the room. Lots of restaurants, lots of people love the vibe.
This place was great! We’ll definitely be back. View was amazing, staff was great, breakfast was delicious.
Spent 4 days in Porto, there's not a more desirable location in the city than the Gran Cruz house. Right on the water on a busy intersection yet quiet and hospitable inside. The hotel had amazing service and the included breakfast was incredible. Fantastic service, great location, beautiful view.
Beautiful boutique hotel right in the middle of the action . Staff was helpful and the dinner was magnificent. Would highly recommend
A true gem. Perfect location, lovely rooms, friendly and helpful staff. Bruno and Daniella were particularly wonderful at the front desk with recommendations.
Lovely boutique hotel situated on the riverfront in Ribeira. Easy walking access to all attractions and right in the centre of all restaurants and bars. Friendly helpful staff and comfortable and spotlessly clean throughout. It has a small restaurant with balcony and views over the river great menu for evenings. Couldn’t fault this hotel we will be back.
The star attraction of Grand Cruz House is the superb view from the rooms and the restaurant across the Douro River. The hotel is also right amongst the bars and restaurants of Ribeira, and most of Porto's tourist attractions are walkable (mainly uphill!). The room was modern, functional and just about big enough. A la carte breakfast was high quality. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Less attractive, and not very restful, was the continuous 11.00 am to 11.00 pm amplified busking nearby on the quayside.
Very convenient to everything. Free breakfast included. Staff very nice.
Friendly staff
So loud all day due to proximity to the Ribeira (square). There’s a lunatic that screams about popcorn and peanuts. So loud you can hear her through the live music, making it impossible to rest in the room from 12p-6pm.
Absolute perfection stay here. Very busy area with a ton of activities. Windows close up tight and the noise is drastically eliminated. Be prepared to walk up hills.
Amazing location and nice rooms.
Small boutique hotel close to everything, The entire experience was amazing. Centrally located with lots of history and entertainment within walking distance. I would suggest getting the room with the balcony. They only have one room with a balcony but the view was unbelievable.
Really friendly and helpful staff with great recommendations about what to do. We had a lovely stay.
The check in process and all the information we received from Bruno was worth the price of our stay
Gran Cruz Hotel is absolutely amazing. Nestled in a small corner of the building. This 5-story 7 room hotel has that “IT” factor. Staff is very polite and helpful. Just ask the front desk and they can tell you or get you practically anything you want. Located on north side Douro River across from Gaia. The area gets pretty crowded during the day and by night it is a much calmer area. Would recommend this hotel to anyone who want to visit Porto.
Easy access to everything.
The hotel was very conveniently located and quaint. A perfect hotel for staying in Porto. Definitely recommend
As this was our first time in Porto we enlisted Daniela to arrange two tours for us. We enjoyed both and were very pleased with her selections. Over all, very one was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend to others!
Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Location was great!
Parking can be hard to find near the river in Porto. Staff were amazing. Booked NYE dinner on site, and were not disappointed. Started eating at 8pm and the pace kept us busy until just before the midnight fireworks across the river at WOW. This evening was well worth the expense, and would do it again! Thank you everyone that was part of our evening!!!
Great boutique hotel owned by an important wine/port producer. Good vakue for money.
Excellent location excellent design
Service was excellent, I would return and stay here again
Beautiful room with stunning views from all the windows.
Daniela was very welcoming and helpful during check-in. Arturo prepared wonderful breakfasts during our stay. The only problem was getting enough sleep at this hotel; loud music from neighboring restaurants went on past 1:30 am and construction in neighboring properties started as early as 7:30 am. We could also hear people moving around in the room above ours as the room was not soundproof.
Gran Cruz is a gem of a stay in Porto! Staff is very friendly, relaxed, but knowledgeable about the area. The river view is gorgeous... Who doesn't want to wake up and open the windows to a nice river view? Breakfast is excellent and included, with amazing seats overlooking the river. Rooms are beautiful, comfy and clean. I will note that because of the riverside and popular location, you will hear the street music from your room to around 2-3 am. My wife and I are from a busy city didn't mind at all (music was a nice upgrade from honking cars and motorcycles), but if you are a light sleeper the noise is something to consider before booking. The hotel is from the same company of a port wine company across the river, and does offer a discount for their wine tastings to hotel guests. Just note that the wine tasting location is closed on Mondays. Overall, we highly recommend Gran Cruz House. The hotel is only a few years old and (relatively) unheard of, opening just before the pandemic, so book now before it catches on!
Directly on the river Douro and in the historical area. Fantastic breakfast and great staff
Great stay, but sleepless nights
The hotel is very cute and clean, and the staff was welcoming and very helpful in providing suggestions for our stay. The breakfast was lovely and overlooking the water. It is right on the water and in a great location for accessing the city, but it is also located right on a main square which means we could hear the music downstairs playing until 2am. We tried using a noise machine, but it didn't cancel out the bass. So, if you are a night owl, this is a great place for you! Everything, other than the sleepless nights, was perfect.
Just perfect.
We spent 25 days traveling through Europe and no hotel stay compared to this one. The room itself had the most gourgous view. The room itself was just beautiful and flawless. The staff was so kind as well. A free bottle of Porto wine was included with our room. When was asked about the taste, the attendant gave a free tasting of different wines. The hotel itself is part of a winery. I only wish we could have spend more time here. We are definitely coming back.
Gran Cruz had the most amazing view of all the hotels we stayed at during our trip. The interior of the hotel, bedroom, bathroom was modern, stylish, well laid out. The staff was super friendly, helpful, and personable.
This boutique hotel is in the very best location. Right on the Praca (Plaza) Douro with literally restaurants and the river at your doorstep. This is where a lot of street musicians play. Within a very easy walk you have dozens of restaurants, beautiful river and bridge views. 15 mins on foot and you can cross the Louis I Bridge and be on the other side of the Douro, at the Vila Nova De Gaia waterfront with even more restaurants and all of the Port Houses (Yay). I was in the "Pink" room, a river facing room with 2 Juliette Balconies. This room can be a bit noisy but I put on my white noise app on my iPhone at night, problem solved. The hotel seems to be recently renovated in the common areas and everything looked new. The restaurant is for guests only and as far as I can tell is breakfast only, which is included and excellent. The staff , to the man (and woman) were ALL very welcoming, gracious and their English was spot on
Would recommend!
Great location and beautiful & charming hotel. A little loud in the evenings at times (due to your location), but worth it for the proximity to the water.
Beautiful hotel with wonderful staff. The breakfast was a highlight!
Such a lovely boutique hotel. Fabulous location, great views, great restaurant and breakfast, friendly service. Everything you need at your fingertips!!
Great location! Staff were kind and very helpful. We enjoyed the breakfast - on days we had to get up early for tours, the staff helped to arrange some food for us. Beautiful and clean hotel
Absolutely delightful room and view, charmingly restored in every detail, wonderful service, and you couldn't ask for a better location.
Perfect location for being in the middle of everything. Corner room was clean and comfortable with river views from all windows. Excellent staff and included breakfast. Only small downside was the elevator being out of order for part of the stay, but highly recommended regardless.

Beautifully appointed rooms in a location that is in the center of the action. Stunning views from “river view” rooms. Breakfast was a moment to be treasured with incredible service, views, and food. The staff were delightful, knowledgeable, and engaging. Coffee was superb. Can’t wait to come back and stay here again!
