Don’t recommend

The hotel is located In Taksim area which make it easy to access to everywhere . But the area it’s extremely noisy as too many pubs and restaurants around so you can hear music till 2am . Stuff hardly speaks English and the person who worked at reception at night shift was so rude . I don’t know his name but he was Mid aged around 45 years old . Once I have complained about some thing to him but rather he solve my problem he mentioned here is turkey , its not your country you can’t complain

The hotel is in a prime area for convenient dining and other activities. Nida, in particular, was great at providing the utmost service and ensuring we were content and comfortable. From breakfast to overall, I would definitely stay here again.

Very small room

There is no vip benefits and staff lacks hospitality and is unable to communicate in english. Rooms are in horrible conditions where the toilets and shower leaks water. Absolutely not worth paying to stay at this hotel as management doesnt bother to help even when you tell them issues. Also dont askfor anything from housekeeping as they will never come even if you call multiple time's.

Nothing was good accept the location being Taksim Square. The hotel rooms ac doesnt work, shower & toilet leaks water, rooms arent fully cleaned, housekeeping never brings anything even after being repeatedly reminded, also this hotel states it includes free baggage storage but they dont do it unless you pay them extra, front desk & all other staff barely speaks any english. When you tell them issues with the room they scream at one another in their language and consistently seem annoyed that they have customers to deal/speak to. There is no one to help with anything you need nor do they care to or even bother to understand you. Its overall been a very horrible experience at this hotel, hirrible hospitality, they should be rated a 1 star or lower & its definitely not worth what i paid for it. There is absolutely no expedia vip privileges here available, so dont book thinking there are any privileges as its all a scam & waste of your money staying at this hotel.

Nice and comfort stay

The location is excellent, situated near the square and very close to public transportation. The variety and taste of the breakfast at the facility were delightful. We would like to express our gratitude for the friendly and helpful staff. The room was clean, and we enjoyed the pleasant pool area.

A great place to stay. Had a blasting experience considering the location of the hotel. Its as best as a 4 star hotel could be with all the staff and everything. They gave us fruit plate as a welcome gift , has a tea time for free at evening etc. So many options as well. Friendly staff and fast check in is also great.

My stay at the Golden Age Hotel was nothing short of amazing! The location is perfect, putting you close to everything you need. The staff are incredibly kind and helpful, always going the extra mile. The breakfast is delicious and offers fantastic value for money. I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel recently, and I must say that I was thoroughly impressed. The breakfast was delightful, offering a wide variety of options that catered to all tastes. The open-air pool was a fantastic addition, providing a relaxing and refreshing experience. What truly stood out, however, was the warmth and friendliness of the staff. From the moment I arrived, their hospitality made me feel right at home.

Excellent location except for extreme nighttime music noise from surrounding discos, making it very difficult to sleep. Accordingly, request a quote room while doing the reservation.

I stayed in Golden Age Hotel from 17 - 24 March 2023 to celebrate my Birthday and New Year (Norouz). I had an amazing experience at the hotel. The staff were so lovely and helpful. My especial thanks to Tahir and Aysenur who were wonderful . Thank you and I will be back!

When trying to arrange transportation from the airport to the hotel ( a service they advertise ) I was meet with resistance - that led to frustration - they actually at one point laughed at me when I was being nothing but polite and respectful - rude and unprofessional - I gave up - I would not stay there again

Although I didn't book with breakfast, they offered us to have a free of charge breakfast as a hotel welcoming, This is a very nice friendly attitude that made us feel very welcome.

It was so noisy I couldn’t sleep properly

Very good location. Staff have hard time communicating in English. Very noisy place i stayed over there for 7 nights and had to take sleeping pills due to too much noise by the other rooms. Only one elevator for half of the rooms which there is a line up in many occasions.

Staff is great, hotel not so much

This hotel is not couple friendly and not suitable for a relaxing stay. Full of children, noisy from the guests and from the outside. Although it is rated 4 stars, it is only so because they have many facilities like a a pool and spa. However the rooms are not 4 stars and the service either. Although the staff makes a good effort of being friendly and nice, the hotel is overcrowded, the rooms can barely fit 2 people and there was mold on the showers. I did not receive the room that was promised to me and I would not recommend this hotel if you are looking for a relaxing - romantic stay in Istanbul.

Horrible Stay in Room 3108 Everything in the room is Not Working ,The Air condition is not working so i stayed my whole stay 2 weeks with a ‘Fan’ which also was not available during the first 4 days , as the hotel has only 2 fans !!! The mini bar, telephone & door bell is not working !! Mehmet in the reception was so rude and aggressive and nobody from the hotel stuff offered any solution. Even the morning manager when i told him i cant stay like this in this room he told me as you like and left !! They also refused to refund us our money back so we weren’t able to move to another hotel . I saw many people in the reception asking to refund their money because they cant stay without an Air condition as its summer in turkey & its too hot !

Staff not helpful and give a lot of attitude

The location of the hotel is good and convenient but it’s not clean at all. We asked for the napkins and water for 2 days and no body gave it to us. The breakfast is ok.

I booked for 2 Bedrooms suite, however there is no 2 bedrooms at the hotel it’s just 1 bedroom suite .. and there wasn’t any air conditioner

The worst hotel I've ever stayed at! Right in the middle of Taksim with all the cafes, restaurants and all the crowds and noises, they didn't bother to two layer the windows! We couldn't sleep till 3 am in the morning every night! The biggest issue, I requested a smoke free room and they accepted my request before my stay! It was not a smoke free floor and it was not a smoke free room. We couldn't turn on the AC in that hot weather because of the smoke coming through our room. We complained every night and nothing happened. The staff were careless and not a single person offered us an apology for our horrible stay! Avoid at all cost! Beside good luck getting a Taxi or Uber comes there and pick you up, and the hotel doesn't have registered taxi services. Weirdest experience!

It was ok. Close to everything but staff where not so friendly. Did not have a Gym. Breakfast wasn't worth $20.00 each person. The room was tiny.

Our reception was not warm to the guests. We asked for a Covid examination. They asked us $ 400 and we went to other hotels. They asked us for 300 for a person. There is a person who speaks Arabic who never smiles. There is no service to carry bags to the rooms and the rooms are small. The floors are dirty but not up to the standard of 4 stars.

The hotel is located in very convenient location and that's the only thing good about it. It doesn't deserve 4 start hotel maximum I'll give it two ! The double room is very small and isn't clean and even when staff cleans they don't clean properly. There is bad smell in the lobby like sewage ! There is no much variety in breakfast menu. I wouldn't recommend this hotel, for the same price there are better hotels in the same location even on the same road Water only two per day and sometimes they don't bring at all, power plug adapter if required cost additional charge.

Room was small but very clean. I did book a double but got given a twin room. But they managed to put the beds together so I ended up with a king size bed. The WiFi is good. I didn’t opt for breakfast as there are many cafe near by which worked out better choice of options and cheaper and not time restricted. The bed is comfy and so are the pillow choices. It’s less than 5 min walk to Taksim. Hotel is surrounded by other hotels and cafes too and there is buzz in the evenings and night time. I’ve stayed here several times when I want to be near Taksim and have a short trip. If I was here for longer I’d opt for a bigger room

Location is good, but otherwise poor services. The hotel shuts down AIr conditions at midnight and no hot water.

People where friendly. Our flight was in the night but they couldn’t extend our stay by a few hours, so we were sitting around in reception.

You can hear everything goes inside out No Sound insulation at all

I had done a mistake in reservation and they asked me to pay 100 Euros to get my room back. After talking to them and expressing that it was just an honest mistake, they agreed to charge me 75 Euros for 1 night, while I had already paid for the room in full. They had just found a reason to cancel my reservation. They didn't even let me talk to their supervisor. Just think about it that a hotel already has empty rooms and denies your fully paid reservation just due to a mistake in reservation, I ended up sleeping in another hotel. I will never ever use local hotels in Istanbul, if I ever be back at all.

Golden Age is smack in the centre of a neighbourhood of hotels and restaurants, and a less than 10 minute walk from Taksim Square and the metro. The hotel staff were helpful and informative, the triple room actually had 3 single beds rather than a double bed with a foldable bed that a lot of other hotels have, ideal for 3 friends travelling together.

Very clean. Comfy bed. Clean bathroom. Modern. Room a little small for two people generally. I would stay here again. WiFi was good too. Only thing I found to be lacking was the teas and coffees. I only had one tea bag in the room and when asked they said they will top it up. But that was done the next morning. They were very busy. But I would stay here again for sure.

Older hotel. Relatively clean. We spent one night. The staff were really nice and helpful. The towels were old but for the price we paid my expectations were met. We did not eat at the breakfast buffet so I can't comment. After checkout they took care of our luggage so we could keep exploring the city. Hotel location was perfect. Very comfy mattresses and the shower water pressure was amazing. There was a review stating bed bugs. We didn't have any and I checked the mattress seams before spending the night. We were on the first floor.

It was amazing only problem in airport shuttle which was not on time , they made me 30 minutes waiting outside , and were telling 5 minutes sir, 5 minutes. Their time was at 1 PM and we left at 1:30 PM. Same with my friend

The hotel so dirty, small room, no services, Not Freindly, bed is horrible, No Iron, no toothbrush , I booked king bed, they gave me twin bed. They are not professional. The sofa is so dirty

Very unpleasant stay

To start with I would advise anyone reading this, if you have any other choices of other hotels to stay, take that choice, this is not a very recommended hotel. I Checked in the room and the AC was not working, it was blowing very weak air, I called the front desk to fix it, they promised they will send someone, 1 hour later no one came, after 3 or 4 calls; someone came only to tell me that the AC is working fine, it’s blowing dry (un-cooled) very weak stream air and he is insisting it’s fine, eventually he said he will send maintenance guy to fix it, 6 hours later no one came, talked to front desk again someone else came, only to say the same, then they told me there are no other rooms available until next day, I told them I am here only for 2 days, and after long conversation, a room suddenly became available, they gave me another 2 bed room, with working AC. Once I entered the bathroom, I found remains of female hair on the floor and door. It was not the best image you would like to see. I took some photos to post them. And actually the worst thing that I didn’t like is the staff attitude, not very friendly , specially the helpers who carry bags, they were talking and looking at me as I am asking them to do something that’s not their work and they rather just walk around in hotel doing nothing. Apologies for long story, I just would like to advise other travellers to avoid this hotel if possible.

My stay was very nice .

I enjoyed it at the golden age apart from on one of my days I said in my room for a bit at 10am I was woken up by drilling and banging , so I went out I then came back after a couple of hours, thinking it might of stopped, but no I did go down to reception to complain and was told that they were doing some renovation on the top floor and they this was the only time they could do it as most of the guests were out for the day . If they were doing this I think they should not put guest near to the noise by the the end of it I had a really bad headache . I got no apology just it needed to be done .

Pros: Friendly staff, GREAT breakfast, GREAT pool, Good shower pressure. Many elevators. Close to attractions and metro, many money exchanges and shops/restaurants. Cons: Couldn't get 2 room cards after 5 tries. We had to share one card. AC not the best and didn't work the last night we stayed. Sweated in our sheets. Many rules for the pool, but attendant didn't enforce them and children at the pool were awful; running, eating IN the pool, screaming. Carpet in room was quite dirty and stained, don't take off your shoes. Bathroom was so dim, lights too low, like it was a dance club? Construction in room next to us, quite loud in the late morning. Hallway walls banged up badly. Honor bar in room had several open bottles and snacks open, we complained and were not charged, be sure to check while the bellman is in the room. Wifi in the room was weak and slow, but much better in the lobby area. Did not try the sauna, nor room service. Room Tip: Lower floors for better wifi.

Really some hotels do not change.Used to stay here few years ago and the standards are still bad. Not improving. Staff still not ready to help much. My booking email mentioned the price i paid includes breakfast but they were adamant to charge me extra for breakfast. Carpet in the room too dirty. The chair provided in the room to work is not at all comfortable. Can hardly work. Could not find any english channel on TV.Thin walls. Towels are hard and rough. The table provided in the room did not have any socket to plug in your laptop etc. Neither there were any sockets near the bed. Basically there was no socket that i could find. So they sent a technician who found one behind the minibar. And then connected an extension cord. Why was the room poorly designed in the first place. Wifi is useless. Too slow. Room lighting is no good. Feels like too dark. Bathroom has worst lighting.Too dark inside. Breakfast hardly has any vegetarian options. Normal turkish breakfast with olives and various cheese. The staff could not find my booking , wasted probably about an hour. I really fail to understand when will these hotels start trusting customers. Charging about Euro 85 for single room is not justifiable for these standards.

Horrible place to stay

Tiny rooms with no natural lights, feels like prison. You can hear your next door neighbour what they are saying which was very disturbing. Still under construction, couldn't sleep due to load construction works going on at the hotel.

I don't advise to stay at this hotel. Staff isn't hospitable. Especially reception and night auditor isn't friendly and they are very rude, they expect bribe when your friend wants to visit you at your room. I don't advise anybody this hotel :(

Do not worth the money

We stayed there for 3 nights they said they had wifi in the rooms and air conditioning but the wifi did not work and our rooms did not have any coverage. Air condition was poor. The coffee/tea maker was free ONLY FOR THE FIRST DAY!!! Totally not worth the money there are a lot of residences with much more comfort that you can stay in.

Poor facilities for a high rent!

Poor standards for a 4 star rating. Exactly same average breakfast every day. Not even a computer with flight check-in and boarding pass print out facility! (as per the reception staff). Only should be considered as 3 star and the room rent is highly inflated for the facilities provided

Unwanted surprises

What do I mean by my title? The first thing a person must do when he or she enters a hotel room, is to check the fridge filled snacks and goodies! On the cover of the fridge door was a picture of its contents. Most of the items depicted in the picture were not in the fridge... one of the containers of Pringle chips was empty, and a small bottle of whisky was empty as well. Now whether or not those items were intentionally placed in that manner to cash in more money from visitors, the Hotel should have responsible employees to thoroughly check the rooms. Overall the Hotel in question was ok, but if you were to visit a foreign country the one thing you expect from a Hotel staff is a smile!
