Great location, comfortable and quiet room, lovely staff. Thought breakfast was a bit expensive.

Excellent hotel with very helpful staff and a very nice restaurant; close to old town, marina, museums and with its own parking area. Will rebook this hotel the next time we are in Heraklion.

The stay was comfortable. Breakfast was delicious with a large selection of choices. However, it was unfortunate for us when our special gift left in the fridge was not able to be recovered.

Great location, excellent property in general. Walking distance to many restaurants; we recommend ippokampos if you love seafood and sunsets and peskesi for a traditional Cretan meal! The staff were great and went above and beyond. The room was clean and had an excellent view from our balcony. Definitely recommend!

We had a wonderful overnight stay at the Megaron, and were very impressed with the standard of our room, which was spacious, clean and extremely comfortable. The large bathroom had a great shower, and we loved the Korres toiletries. The buffet breakfast was amongst the best we've had at any hotel. Staff very friendly and professional, with nothing too much trouble.

3 days in Heraklion

Great 3 day stay. I can’t say enough good things about the front desk - very helpful with restaurant suggestions and ordering cabs. Food at restaurant was great esp the breakfast.

My husband and I have both traveled internationally but neither of us have ever experienced the type of gracious and considerate hotel staff. Each and every one we encountered was amazing. This was really proven when my husband, who has heart problems, had to be taken to the hospital. They arranged a car to take me (while my husband was in the ambulance) and deliver both of us back home upon release. This was our first visit to Crete, for our 30th anniversary and we could not have been more pleased with our accommodations.

Hair conditioner is missing from the toiletries set - a five star establishment should have it as a standard.

The property is beautiful, but definitely not someplace to spend the holidays. Very limited food in the hotel.

Beautiful old hotel with excellent staff and location.

Very clean and comfortable room. The livingroom with several seating areas and large screen tv was a big hit for us. The buffet breakfast was amazing. So many Cretan savory and sweet food that we might not have had if it weren’t for this breakfast buffet. Every staff member that we met was friendly and helpful. It was a great hotel to stay in Heraklion.

One of the best stays

Only stayed one night but it was totally a pleasure. Great king bed, clean and spacious bathroom and shower. Staff made you feel totally welcome. Free parking right in front and ferry port across the road. Breakfast is included and it was spectacular. Highly recommend

Mega Value at the Megaron

This amazing hotel is a 10 minute walk from the ferry (exit to the right from the boat). There’s not much else nearby. We were delighted by everything here JUST STAY HERE. Also, rooftop pool was an amazing space for a drink to unwind. Breakfast had a wide variety of foods.

A classy stay in Heraklion

A wonderful three nights stay. Personnel particularly smiling and efficient. Very welcoming. Small parking, but we always found room. Refined breakfast selection. Immediate neighborhood is rather sad and shabby, but the hotel is not to blame. The hotel is tastefully renovated while maintaining his historical character. We will be back!

They helped us book a sailing adventure, and were always so warm and welcoming. Felt safe, always. The pool was great. And the breakfast was absolutely fantastic! Loved the different food options and descriptions of each food. Highly recommend this hotel - seriously made our trip memorable.

Reception services and restaurant are excellent!

We didn’t realize we had booked a 5 star hotel for our 1 night in Heraklion. This was by far the best hotel we could’ve picked. Very easy to get to the port from here (5-7 minutes of walking). The rooms are spacious and the hotel itself is only a few minutes of walking from the town center, which is where you want to be for shopping and dining. The staff were very accommodating and the property itself was 5 star worthy.

Excellent, spacious, and clean room. The rooftop restaurant food was delicious and very affordable with a stellar view of the Port of Heraklion. The complimentary cookies provided in the room were also very delicious and protected my wife’s dairy allergy.

hotel was clean and modern, however I had requested a shower handicap chair for my disabled partner and none was available. I find it unusual a luxury hotel like this can not offer a common appliance for handicap travelers

The staff at the Megaron is excellent. Effie helped amend our reservation and welcomed us warmly. The breakfast buffet is outstanding. We highly recommend the hotel!

The hotel is right next to the port and in easy walking distance to the pedestrian zone. Great views from the rooftop restaurant, bar, pool area. One of the most incredible breakfasts ever seen on this planet or any other planet. And like all of Crete, the people working at the hotel are wonderful, kind, friendly and helpful.

strip club next door

umm there is a strip club right across the street. otherwise we are on the edge of the old city and can see the Venetian port and fort from our hotel room. The reception staff are super friendly and helpful. The breakfast is amazing with a huge selection of choices and awesome fresh squeezed orange juice.

Good location near the port and good resraurants

GDM Megaron is a great stop over for a couple of days in Heraklion, professional and knowledgeable staff, extensive breakfast buffet, and walkable access to shopping, dining and cultural attractions. A solid choice.

Very clean, has a rooftop pool restaurant and most of all, within very close walking distance of the ferry.

Lovely place to stay

This is a really lovely property from the lobby to the rooms to the rooftop pool and restaurant. The restaurant and the breakfast buffet are both excellent. All the staff were charming and helpful. A bonus is how easy it is to park!

Very nice place. Excellent breakfast, and very helpful staff. Located right on the edge of Old Heraklion, so it's easy to walk there. Just a 10 minute walk to the port, so if you are arriving or departing by ferry, you won't need a taxi. If you are arriving by car, just push the button at the entrance, and they will raise the arm for you.

Wow. Wasn’t expecting this excellent level of service — better than most places we have ever stayed. VIP room wasn’t huge but bed and view and bathroom (fab soaker tub) were top notch. And believe everything you read in reviews about the breakfast buffet. OMG — literally 50 choices Rooftop restaurant and poolside bar were great. And SOOO close to wonderful sights in Heraklion, like the archaeology museum and the ancient technology museum and the Venetian fort. The staff are wonderful too (yes, Jasmine, I’m talking about you. )

Megaron is excellent: the location is great, the property is elegant, facilities up to date, and the breakfast delicious. What makes it outstanding however are the people. Especially Efi at reception whose disposition and informative suggestions made our stay so much more pleasant

BEST HOTEL BREAKFAST EVER! We are frequent travelers so that we are fussy about breakfast options. AMAZING and TASTY! Offerings we would not even have imagined including homemade cookies, both sweet and savory dishes, including numerous Cretan specialties as well as every part of both an English and a German breakfast. AND the staff were ALL extremely friendly and helpful. The sea views overlooking the port from our room as well as the rooftop restaurant/bar are breathtaking. We have already recommended this hotel to various travelers we met along the way.

The hotel was very convenient- walkable to the ferry system as well as excellent restaurants and museums in Heraklion. The breakfast was lovely and rooms and common areas beautiful. The staff in the dinner restaurant were wonderful but there were better and more interesting nearby choices to eat dinner meals.

4Stars - Amazing Breakfast

Great hotel. It is a bit dated. The room & linens were dated/worn. Staff are friendly. Breakfast is indeed one of the BEST I've had. Location is 8min walk to the Ferry port and 10 min. walk to the tourist pedestrian street. Our room faced the back and I was quite worried as it looked down onto a street which had a disco/nightclub and a strip club but there were no issues and we couldn't hear a thing. Roof top restaurant has great views. Food was decent but a bit pricey. Pool deck is nice but actual pool is VERY small.

This is a recently renovated old hotel. It still has that grand hotel ambience. It's a little off the city center but is still quite easy to walk to all the things you want to see or eat. The sea view is actually a view of the ferry port, so that's not much. The breakfast is excellent. Overall, it's quite nice.
