Great place to stay and access to many places nearby. The only complaint would be the loud music at night going on through the night until 3 or 4 in the morning.

I was upgraded to the Mykonos suite shortly after arrival. A beautiful ocean front/ocean view room on the 7th floor. The views were breathtaking. The lush vegetation all around the perfectly manicured landscape was very calming and beautiful. The lobby is open and airy. The staff were very polite, accommodating and helpful. The pool area was beautiful. There was plenty of seating on the beach with impressive beach access! The bar was on point. Walkable to many shops and restaurants. I highly recommend this property. This was my first trip to Mexico and Gaviana was perfect!! I can't wait to come back!

The property was great and conveniently located close to restaurants, shops and the best part was that it has direct beach access. Just would have appreciated more if the young lady who helped us check in to our room would have had a nicer attitude. Would visit this property again.

Nesesitan remodelar los baños! Bueno los cuartos en general! Mi habitacion no estava muy limpia que digamos! Los baños ni los limpiaban bien. Era demaciado el ruido no se que seria ya que nos toco en el primer piso. Aparte que casi todo el dia el olor que salia de la regadera como a drenaje era muy desagradable. No volveria a este lugar la verdad.

I asked for oceanfront view and there was no view. Elevators very slow and kept on getting stuck . Rooms feel Claustrophobic there is no windows only In the bedroom and small Window no balcony

Easy beach access and walking distance to many places

I liked the Greek architecture. I didn't like that the room had no microwave or minifridge. The hair dryer in the room didn't work.

Property is in great location, walkable to great areas. Customer service is horrible! The young ladies at front desk have horrible attitudes, not friendly whatsoever. We checked out at 11am, when I gave our room number for check out they told us someone had already checked out our room. My partner and I were the only ones in our room, I asked the young lady to verify why and she rolled her eyes and tore a stapled paper off another and said “your done”. The buffet is not worth the price, waiter service is poor we were never offered refills on our coffee or juice. We don’t recommend!

Everyone was very helpful and attentive. Housekeeper was always on it making sure our room was clean.

A good hotel option - we enjoyed the access to the beach and availability of beach cabanas for guest use. This would not be the place for you if you are a light sleeper - music is blaring until after midnight from the beach/restaurant next door. Hotel in need of some updates and repairs in the rooms.

Love this place!

Very noisy, no insulation or soundproofing in the rooms, so we heard the music from the nearby clubs all night. Also got a 3 AM wake-up call from the hotel staff because someone else (not us) left their car running and they were trying to find out who it was.

Overall we had a really nice stay at the Gaviana Resort. All of the staff were nice and the restaurant food was good. I liked being able to walk directly onto a nice beach. The pool was nice as well and they have somewhere you can buy sunscreen on site. We did not realize before arriving that there was a club attached to the property lol, so be mindful of that. The music is loud and lasts until about 4 or 5 in the morning. You get free entry though so it was convenient to have somewhere so close to go out and have a drink at night. Sleeping through the music was not an issue for us either, so that is not a complaint. The area is very walkable with lots of restaurants and other places to go out too. Our tv stopped working and had a pop up that kept asking us to enter in a password we did not have, and that was annoying. And we had to track a cleaning lady down to come clean our room because no one came the first two days. Other than that it was a very lovely stay. We had a really early flight and the staff helped us to book our taxi to the airport, which was awesome.

Upon arriving this property looked nice. Our room was far away from nice area and above a few night-clubs. We had very little sleep.

It was not what we , pay for , rooms where dirty , no hot water and not enough towels, I pay for an ocean view and I didn’t get it , but pay or it !! People were rude , only thing we like was the pool !! I don’t recommend this place !

Everyone at the Gaviana was fantastic!! The delicious breakfast with complimentary drink on the water was outstanding! Joe's is a blast!!!! Mazatlan is a super fun place and the Gaviana is a perfect place to stay!!

This hotel is dated, need some refresh, The pool was dirty, we were assigned a room that felt boxy , not to mentioned that we paid a higher rate for whatever reason,(long weekend in Mexico)I respectfully ask to change the room and they couldn’t . To top it off, the two days we stayed, we ran out of water mid shower . We have stayed in this hotel many times before, I hope I don’t have to come back to them in the future .

If you stay in the rooms next to El Muchacho Alegre I guarantee you will not be able to sleep. Live music was going until 5am and hotel staff told me there’s nothing they can do. Upon asking for a room change I was told I would have to downgrade my room and not be able to be refunded the difference from my original room. Luckily the employees at the bar were outstanding. Giovanni and the bar manager will go above and beyond to help out the guests.

Overall the stay was great, central location within walking distance to boardwalk. Although it is noisy at night due to the clubs around the hotel, staff was very accommodating and move us to a more quiet area within the hotel.

I liked the convenience of the property Need to do more cleaning in the rooms, smells like bleach, staff are great!

We had a fun stay. Its very LOUD during the night, but if you are out late hours then came back and pass out you will wake up to a quiet morning of waves crashing on the beach. The cleaniness and staff was excellent. Bed was comfortable. Walkable to the Melecon and hotel zone, all in all, we were happy. We'd stay again.

Family getaway

This hotel offers everything you need for a family stay. Great location by the river with quick access to the malecon. The rooftop pool and lounge area is a great way to spend a hot afternoon. The room was very spacious and the kitchen was well equipped. My only complaint was the beds. They are too firm , like sleeping on an ironing board. Staff is great and they keep the hotel in pristine condition.

This hotel hasn’t being renovated since it was built. Is old, appliances are old, it’s extremely noisy. The location is great but they’re really over due on doing some major renovation.

Right on the beach with an amazing view and close to a lot of good places to eat and visit.

Location is great, you can walk to great restaurants like El Panama for breakfast and the new location of El Muchacho Alegre for Dinner. The best club of Mazatlan is in this hotel and if you stay here you get VIP entrance with no cover fee. However you can hear the club until 4am and people party in front of the pool until 6am. If you like to sleep then this hotel is not for you.

I made a reservation, and when I got the paperwork to sign, I noticed it had a different city and so I asked the receptionist and he said that that’s how it comes up. I didn’t feel safe I didn’t feel my identity was well kept ask Tia he told me that that’s what they do because there’s so many Beatriz, and then to top it off the guy was really rude and not helpful at all. I stayed at this hotel a couple of times after this experience I will never stay here again I am so disappointed as I’d like to travel once a year to this destination I ended up checking out a day before since my safety comes first and I didn’t feel safe at all.

No electronic elevator

Place is rundown and dirty, nothing works from fridge and ac in the room to elevator on property. Pool was dirty. Money exchange be careful count your money before walking away. Only good thing is that is location is central and beach front but would never stay there again.

The elevator didn’t have A/C, it took to long to get to the lobby

Rooms on the south end (21 and up) need a soundproof windows and doors to keep the loud music from bar next door quiet. Unless you don’t mind listening to loud music until 1 am.

Nice hotel

The room that they gave us the AC wasn't working, so we have to pack our stuff and move to another room, the second room the sink was plugged, the AC unit was very loud that you couldn't listen to the TV, the staff was very friendly, just one restaurant on the property

It’s a prime location but the rooms are outdated they need to remodel them also the pool policy don’t make sense at all we would bring can beers but because we bought them outside of the resort we could not drink them there but made us buy glass bottles from them in order to drink in the pool you need to change your policy a bit

Everything was good except half of the sockets did not work and the mini fridge did also not work. Also,wifi in rooms is not that great. Other than that our stay was great.

Nice resort just not the cleanest rooms

We really enjoyed our stay at Gaviana. The rooms were nice, the staff was kind, and the grounds/amenities were great. The only complaint is the noise from the surrounding area. This is at no fault of the hotel. The building is old so the rooms are not well-insulated for sound. The first night we had a room on the 8th floor and there was a bar/restaurant next door that was playing music extremely loudly. We would have been able to sleep with it, but then a full live band (drums, tuba, etc) started playing at 11PM - 3AM. It was as if there was a parade right outside of our door. It was unbelievable. We asked to switch rooms the next morning and the staff was very accommodating and we moved to a room on the 5th floor and slept like babies the rest of the trip. After speaking with locals, the level of noise from music in Mazatlan is a larger issue, but please be aware of it if you are staying in Gaviana and request a room that is in a strategic position to avoid the loudest areas. Overall, we would stay again. The pool is incredible, location perfect, and the spa services were very nice.

I think this area is one of the best, access to the beach and resort pool. Rooms are clean and look great! It was a great stay, beds were comfy and our room had 2 bathrooms! So convenient!

Cannot sleep . Venues around the hotel plays Mariachi music on lound speaker until 2 to 3 AM . Hotel is nkt sound proof . I fekt like i am tryinb to sleep in a night club . Shame that they cany do anything about it . I had headache everyday . Property itsself nice , staff all areas amazing . Pool is good Monday to Wednesdays. Then all family kids check in from friday then its mayhem in pool . Please do not send people here if they are going there to get nice and relaxing holiday . Especially if you like good night sleep on your vacay .

Out dated and WAY too noise!!

Room was very small and musty, it was nice enough not to pack up and leave but would not return, out window was to the beach soid, that would have been a good thing except JOES OYSTER BAR (and they dont have oysters) plays very loud music Banda with the big tubas Big drun, so you will NOT get any sleep until 4:00 AM its horrible music also! sat at beach bar and was never approched by waiters they were not even busy? better service across the street at Los Zarapes. all the stsff seemed disconnected? kinda wierd like they are fourced to work there and don't really care about guests Beach was nice, but I dont think the hotel had much to do with that
