I can’t overstate how great of a stay we had. I wish we had more than a night at the Exmo because the room we had was excellent and the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. The breakfast was delicious as well! We will absolutely stay here again the next time we’re in Porto.

Lovely hotel in a perfect location with terrific staff.

This small hotel is perfectly located within easy walking distance of Porto’s lively riverfront, but out of the immediate crowds. The building and lobby bar/restaurant are beautiful as are the rooms. The best part of this experience was the attentive and friendly staff.

A very nice little boutique hotel, well located in the old town of Porto. Wonderful staff, delicious breakfast and a lovely bar. The rooms are a little too small and the lighting is not great but it is definitely worth a stay in this little gem.

Our room was very small but that was ok! Loved the location and breakfast was good!

Away from the hustle and bustle and the noise from the river front

Overall, excellent but there are some minor oversights. The lighting in our room was not convenient for shaving and makeup. There was no drawer for clothes in the room.

Property was basic, no warmth in the room. Reception staff were inexperienced and some quite rude.

The hotel is located in a great area, near the water (easy access to river boats) shopping and many many restaurants.

Lovely, modern hotel in the center of everything. Great staff, good breakfast, and comfortable large rooms. would have been great to have scored the top floor room which is the only room with a view. Otherwise, we didn't spend that much time in the room, so it was fine.

We went to this property for an overnight getaway. So, we were only going to relax in the room. Well, the tv didn’t work. The reception attempted to fix but said it was the service provider that had to come and that would probably be the next day. Also, the hose in the shower did not work, only the rain fall overhead in the shower. We were only there for one night but this room was almost $500. I feel if you are advertising luxury that everything should work and especially the tv. They only wanted to not charge us for a $30 bottle of wine. I don’t feel that was satisfactory since we had no entertainment all day. I asked for some of the room rate to be reduced and they said the manager would be in contact with me. I have not had a call or email and it has been 4 days.

Neat hotel near the river and at the bottom of a square. We had a room overlooking the square and we opened the windows and people watched the tourists and locals.

I stayed almost two weeks in Portugal. This was my favorite hotel and experience. Prunelle went above and beyond to welcome me and ensure I had a great stay. Cannot thank her enough. The bed was so cozy. Shower was spendid. Breakfast options good and the location cannot be beat.

The ceilings in the 4th floor rooms. Dangerously low.

Our room is on top floor with beautiful view. We have to pay about $450 per night which is expensive.

This hotel by far had one of the best staff who helped assist with all our restaurant reservations that required phone calls even before I arrived. upon arrival there were very accommodating for some of our requests, and it's perfectly located in Porto to access The main sites. We faced the river, and I could have hung out of that window for hours just for the view. I would love to stay here again. Included breakfast was very helpful for the mornings even though there are many options nearby to try.

Excellent Exmo

Exmo was outsting in all regards. Fantastic location, clean and modern rooms, a fabulous breakfast and, most of all, the staff were all wonderful. They were pleasant, generous and extremely helpful. They went the extra mile again and again.

Beautiful property, lovely staff! I loved our room!!

No onsite parking. Had to park 1/2 a mile away and walk in the rain. After driving and looking for parking lots that still had spaces for a long time. The hotel is near the water in an incredibly busy and noisy area, great for sightseeing though! Breakfast was good and the staff were great!

The rooms smelled, plugs next to bed didn’t work, door handle came off in bathroom, our window wouldn’t close, air system didn’t work, walls are thin and you hear everything

Area is crazy busy. Central….both good and bad. Very good breakfast, but can’t get coffee until 8pm. Very nice room and view. Parking lot across the street. Recommended.

Wonderful location by the river. Delightful breakfast, helpful staff, modern minimalist decor. Fabulous view of the park. We were afraid it would be noisy but the windows and shutters kept the noise out.

I booked two rooms of the same category but there was a significant difference in both the rooms. One room was bigger and better than the other. There was no manager on site for theee days of our stay. And only one person at the front desk , who did not have any authority. Inspite of several request we were not able to contact the manager. Room cleaning was also very sub par

Great quality hotel in a perfect location.

Located a short distance from the Duoro River in the Ribeira area with its great selection of places to eat and visit, this hotel is a real gem. The staff were wonderful and always helpful & polite. The room was large with minimalist design - bed comfortable (high off the ground!) The added touch of a gift of local Port and a welcome drink added to the ambience. Breakfasts were very good with freshly cooked eggs, bacon etc as an option. Thoroughly reccommended!

The hotel is in a beautiful building and is very cool and quirky inside. The staff are delightful and helpful. We booked the hotel driver from and to the airport,which was so convenient and also cheaper than the other out of hours options we looked at. They even gave us a breakfast bag because we were leaving early. Top marks from us, we loved it.

I can't speak highly enough of the people who work at Exmo. Everyone we encountered was wonderful and helpful. This was especially true after my husband got food poisoning after eating out one day. The staff at the hotel went above and beyond assisting us in getting medicine for him and then just general care for us while this was happening. Exmo's location is amazing, the breakfast is great, but the staff is the real gem of the place. Thank you!

Hidden gem boutique hotel!

One of the boutique hotel gems that you will walk by and never know. This hotel is located perfectly by the most interesting tourist spots with a nice view of the park. It's a small hotel with a ton of heart. The staff were courteous, welcoming and friendly. The hotel looks brand new, everything is cleaned regularly (so much so we left our baby crawl everywhere). It's a small hotel with a family feel. We loved our stay and would love the opportunity to be back!

Wow - what a gem!

Just wow! Perfect location overlooking the monument by the palace and the river is literally behind the hotel. Staff are absolutely fantastic and helpful. Couldnt recommend them highly enough from getting around to excellent restaurant reservations, nothing is too much trouble. We celebrated my husband's birthday whilst we were away and they left celebratory goodies in the room for him which was a lovely touch. The staff are a real asset to this hotel. We had a city view room which had 2 french balconies overlooking the palace directly in front and the cathedral to the right (see pics). Breakfast style buffet but with a real boutique hotel style and eggs and bacon made to order if you wish. Located 5 minute from Sau Bento metro (downhill all the way) would recommend the €5 taxi ride back to the metro with luggage as a steep incline with luggage. Metro is really easy to navigate and very cheap. Recommend the 6 bridge cruise and the tuk tuk historic rides which are also reasonably priced and you cant go to Porto without checking out the port cellars! Recommend Calem for restaurant on the other side of the river for great food and views. Also Mitsu was an amazing restaurant close to the hotel. The only negative if youre trying hard to find fault is lack of storage/hangers/space but hardly a reason not to stay here! Thank you for a fantastic stay.

I loved the gentle atmosphere of Exmo, the young team who run this beautiful hotel are amazing and nothing is too much! Best breakfast I have ever had in an hotel🙂 buffet brekky plus a cooked brekky to order! Yum! The bedroom is everything you dream of, very comfortable bed, bathroom with all amenities and lovely extras. Plus a special little light if you get out of bed at night which lights your way! Loved it. The situation is fab, right by the Douro river in the historic part of Porto, walking distance to basically all the beautiful areas of Porto plus the special sights, gardens, churches and the se. Can’t wait to go back. Thankyou for my second wonderful stay, will be back again soon X janine

Uncomfortable beds, shower floor in bad condition

When we checked in we found a note in the room apologizing about the “situation”in bathroom and offering a very small bottle of port wine for our inconvenience. At first look the shower control handle was missing and there was a mat on the shower floor. The shower want could not be used. Only overhead shower was working. When I used the shower, the water did not drain and wet the entire bathroom. They had used the mat to cover the floor of the shower, which was stripped down to bare concrete. You could potentially cut your feet on the sharp edges of concrete. When I called front desk, the lady came in with some towels, apologized and said she will inform the management of the situation. They were full so could not change our room. I was told that we will get some accommodation at check out, which was not given. The bathroom is dark with minimal light. The bathroom has no tiles but only painted concrete, which is rough and stripped in places. There is a big glass between bathroom and bedroom with no shade to cover it. This gives you no privacy while using the toilet or shower. The sink is outside the bathroom in bedroom. Very unpractical layout. The beds are supported by thin steel tubes, which make noise every time you get up. The breakfast is average. You have to ask for eggs and it takes a long time to get them. I will not stay here again.

The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the area. They look after all guest requests efficiently.

There are many negatives here. It was sweltering hot in Porto so the AC had to be used, but the vent blows right on you when you sleep. The balcony ( which had amazing views) didn’t have a handle to let you back in! Parking is a nightmare and ridiculously expensive. I could go on but I’ll spare you and me the first world whining.

Very quiet even though it is in a high density tourist area. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Room and bath very nice. Great beds. Terrific location. A very happy experience.

Nice hotel in a good location but staff are not very helpful, especially when it comes to breakfast. Very stingy with the portion sizes of the eggs (I think it’s one egg per person) and the rest of the breakfast is mediocre and looks like it’s been left out for a while. For someone with health dietary requirements there are little to no healthy alternatives, just a lot of cheap cakes and pastries. Rooms are very small but modern, bathroom is impractical. Noise control from outside the hotel is good.

The property was very modern and perfectly located near the ribeira area. I did not like the bathroom clear glass window to the bed. It lacked privacy.

I booked the "Penthouse" top room, but got more like what seemed to be a basement. The tall windows did not have an accessible view. The ammenties i.e. drinking glasses, soda, water were set up for 2, so we had to remind them the reservation was for 4! I reserved months in advance for my 50th bday at this hotel bc of the name "Exmo by Olivia" which by the way includes my name, but there was no mention of my bday. We could've reserved 2 rooms and paid less! I paid close to $600 for a room that had minimal walking space because the sofa bed was set up and blocked the walk-way, the ceiling was quite low so we hit our heads just walking around the beds, and we even had a broken bathroom handle. I learned that they charged extra per person x2 and also charged for the bed... it was a sofa bed! Very disappointed in the lack of comfort, no view to the city, and basically nothing to do with what the booking led me to believe. All other rooms below our top floor had windows with a view and a balcony. Room 15 is not a penthouse by any definition. Very disappointed in the price for the room. The best part was the location, breakfast staff and breakfast meal, and the friendly security guard. Would not recommend bookimg this.

Boutique hotel with wonderful staff in the perfect area. Great breakfast included. One thing to keep in mind is that beds are quite high so shorter guests might have an issue.

The staff here are nothing short of Wonderful! And the location is perfect - in the busy center of it all, yet the inside is quiet and peaceful. My stay was the perfect welcome to Northern Portugal!

The hotel is very centrally located and perfect right by the river next to some lovely restaurants. The room was very clean and modern and I had a nice view into the square. The staff were very friendly and helpful, as it was only a small hotel it had a nice friendly feel to it. The breakfast in my opinion was very good, really fresh and tasty fruit selection as well as lovely breads and cheeses. You can tell a lot of thought and care is taken in the breakfast and hotel overall.

Great city hotel in a beautiful location

Positives: Very nice hotel in a great location. The rooms are big and modern. We had a super nice view over the river. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They gave us a very warm welcome when we arrived all the way through to when we left. It felt very personal. It was nice that the beverages in the room were all included. Negative points: breakfast could have provided more healthy variety and the coffee was not very good (cappucionos etc). Great that it was so long, until 11 AM. Gave more fresh towels than needed. They spoke about sustainability efforts, but then didn't deliver on it. If towels are on the floor, replace them. If they are not, no need to replace them every day. This is getting more and more important.

The staff here are unbelievable! They helped me with my luggage from the Uber, assisted with restaurant reservations and even made me a packed lunch for my 6am flight! The rooms are spotless. I opted for a river view which was beautiful! I would highly recommend this hotel.

Excellent in every way

My stay at Exmo. Hotel was excellent in every way. I loved the view from my balcony, the luxurious linens, breakfast, and the location. The service by Bruna topped it all off making this the best part of my month long visit to Portugal.

Exmo was the best of all seven hotels on our trip to Spain and Portugal. Absolutely dead silent and dark in the room (a must for me), outstanding breakfast and coffee, and — most of all — EXCEPTIONAL hospitality from everyone. We had a number of great tips and advice and help with everything we needed from the staff. Truly excellent and highly recommended.

The property is very conveniently situated close to the river and the old town. Front desk staff were extremely helpful and professional.

The hotel was beautifully decorated with modern styles. We were welcomed with a glass of wine and a beer for my husband. The rooms are spacious with a comfortable bed, and perfect location. It was nice waking up to a breathtaking view of Porto. The staffs were very friendly and helpful. Nadia gave us a map of porto with suggestions as to where to visit and eat. The breakfast was healthy and very delicious. Highly recommend this place. I look forward to returning.
