Not 4 stars at all
Very difficult to find it, look like non star or hostels from outside also entry reception. Room clean and good.
A decent hotel in Istanbul
My wife and I recently stayed at the Endurun for 8 nights. If you are reading this review, then know that everything good and bad you've read in the reviews about this hotel is true. The staff are decent people trying to do their jobs. Sometimes it might not be 4 star service. Example, when I asked them to restock water. Manager on site said it wasn't free. I told them not to bother and I will handle the situation myself. Water costs .20 cents u.s. Strangely enough, that night, a regular staff bought us water for free. Example number 2. Istanbul is a city of contrast. You can find anything here if you look for it. Extreme poverty and obscene wealth exists side by side. The Endurun tries to maintain its "4 star" in an industrial area. This is not a 4 star hotel in my opinion. It's more accurate to say 3 star at best. Let me be clear, this hotel is not handicap friendly, eco friendly, nor is it the Westin. Example number 3. Safety. This is the gritty part of town but walk 50 feet and the bustling heart of Istanbul is in full view. Istanbul is a living and breathing city. Exercise full common sense when visiting. Overall, I was satisfied with the Endurun considering the price. If I wanted a more sanitized experience, I would have paid for it
The cleaningness of the hotel, the staffs are friendly and supportive and the breakfast provided wasn't bad. So we enjoyed our stay.
The rooms are neat and ok to stay. The hotel generally is very clean and the environment is clean as well
Avoid This Hotel at All Costs! I recently stayed at what was supposed to be a charming little hotel, but it turned out to be a complete disaster. 1. The room was disgusting from the moment I walked in. The bathroom was even worse, with an unbearable stench that lingered throughout my stay. 2. If you enjoy the constant roar of trucks, bikes, and people shouting 24/7, then you’ll love this place. 3. The attitude of the managers was atrocious. The hotel is run by two people only. They actually raised their voices at us and seemed genuinely annoyed that we wanted something to eat and a clean room. 4. The rooms were not only small, dirty and noisy but also ridiculously overpriced for what you get. 5. The breakfast selection was pitiful. With only a few options and poor-quality food 6. The area is sketchy at best. It felt unsafe to walk around 7. Don’t expect any scenic views. The rooms overlook nothing but a dingy alley or a brick wall, making the stay even more depressing. In summary, this hotel was a complete nightmare. Between the dirty conditions, smelly rooms, horrific noise, terrible management, and overpriced, tiny rooms, I wouldn’t wish this experience on my worst enemy. Save yourself the trouble and book somewhere else!
I’ll share the pros and cons. Location isn’t the best for us, so we won’t stay here again. Although it isn’t far from some main attractions, taxis refused to take us directly to the property multiple times which led to us hauling luggage up or down hills on stone covered/ rocky paths. The neighborhood is also very industrial so you won’t find a variety of dining options in the area. The staff was professional, and they do offer a large breakfast buffet too. The room was as described, traditional style, and hotel is kept clean.
Convenient for walking central Istanbul
I have stayed here a few times. Always good.
My place to stay in Istanbul
Very pretty hotel in a good location for walking around central Istanbul. Very helpful staff. Nice breakfast conservatory.
A very pleasant stay. Close to kapoli casa and t1 tram which will get you to most important places in the old city.
Friendly staff, good location close to grand bazaar, tram and close walk to ayiasofia. Good full breakfast. rooms are a bit dated but clean and quiet.
Good value, great staff and fantastic breakfast
Stayed 4 nights and most of the staff are fantastic, two of them are a bit weird. We had two rooms but one had issues with the heating pipes ticking but was offered another room but declined. Beds are terrible. Pillows available are soft and hard option. Breakfast is fantastic. Only negative is the areas streets are bollard controlled so some taxis can't get in and end up dumping you bit of a walk away.
Staff were always helpful, our room was comfortable and service was excellent. I would recommend the Hotel. It's location is within easy walking distance of many top historic sites and great public transport close by too.
Good hotel for the price. Friendly and helpful staff, especially Harkhan who organised a well-priced taxi to the airport. Clean rooms and comfortable beds. To be aware: hamman is not included in the price.
The hotel is nice, clean, in good location. The lighting in the room was not so good.
The staff were helpful and friendly. My room was nice and clean.
Worse location and very small rooms
This hotel should be 2 star hotel not 4 star. Is not worth the price. The hotel rooms are very small, you can’t even open your lodge on the floor. The bathroom very small, like airplane bathrooms The worse thing is the location, hidden between the stores and the taxi can’t get into it. The other bad thing is the price, you can find way better hotel with cheaper price. The only good thing is the staff working during the buffet, they are nice and helpful.
Great staff
Great location. Friendly personal.
Great breakfast and the bell boy Enes was super.
Generally very good
Comfortable beds, excellent staff, nice breakfast. Location excellent for main sites but in scruffy business area so not attractive immediately outside the hotel. Our taxi found it difficult to find. On arrival, our prebooked room was not available for the first of 5 nights so we had to move rooms on day 2 which was very disappointing.
Awesome place, highly recommended
We enjoyed our stay at Enderun Hotel. They were very friendly and helpful with booking airports from and back to the airport. It was very clean, well heated and a great location.
A good experience at a small hotel.
What I liked about this hotel was that the bed was really very comfortable, the sheets were soft, the pillows were good quality. The room was clean. The staff was polite and very helpful. It was a very short walk from the tram which is a huge plus, and although I was walking alone, with a suitcase, at 11pm, I still felt safe in the area and was not every threatened in any way. It has a very sweet garden in front that has places to sit. It's not luxury but for the price, it's definitely a good deal
I am satisfied
I think I just found the most perfect place to stay in Istanbul. Its placement right in the heart of the city with the most spectacular sites within walking distance and world’s friendliest and most professional stuff made my stay so comfortable and easy. The rooms are spotlessly clean, breakfast plentiful and delicious, your every desire and request attended to cheerfully and immediately. Particularly Osman was extremely professional and friendly. All I know is that this will be my hotel when I come back to Istanbul. 5 stars isn’t enough. Thank you.
clean classical hotel near Grand Bazaar
Best hotel in town. Affordable, clean, near to the famous places like Hagia sophia. Friendly staffs also speaks good English. The room service was great. In a word BEST.
It is a very nice small hotel. Very traditional in style of the castle. It is cozy and clean. It is taken care of but some small cosmetic imperfections can be found as with any older buildings. Staff at the front desk is very friendly and provide a lot of information and can assist with anything. Area around hotel is very busy during weekdays but offers a lot of things. Easy walk to grand bazar, tramway stop, mosques. Overall we had great experience staying in March 2022.
TOP
Staff were so helpful
I had such an amazing experience there
The location of this hotel is excellent, it's close to all of the key attractions within walking distance. The hotel is very clean and includes all of the necessary amenities. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. This is a great place to stay in the old city Istanbul!
The hotel and the rooms are very clean. Everyone was very friendly. If you are planning to rent a car, there is no street or on-site parking. You can't park your car from 10:00am-6:00 pm. Lots of restaurants, shops,Grand Bazar are by the hotel. You can walk to Sultanahmet and Hagia Sophia, or take a tram from the Beyazit Stop. I would like to mention about the area: lots of businesses are there. Some taxis refuse to go there during the day time.
I do not recommend this hotel at all. It wasn't clean, blood spot (or something similar) in bedsheet, spider web, dirty bathroom. The area was also not safe. Our first two days were ruined in Istanbul because of this hotel.
I do not recommend this hotel at all whoever wants to have leisure time in Istanbul. When me and my family arrived to the hotel, the hotel area was very dangerous with full of rubbish around. The room was not clean at all. Bedsheet had a red spot (like blood). In top corner of the room some spider web was visible. The bathroom wasn't properly cleaned. The rooms had weird smell. When we looked at the outside from the room. we didn't feel safe and comfortable ourselves. We were scared to spend a night at this hotel. We couldn't spend even a night in this hotel. We were disappointed as we were not expecting this at all during our trip. I had to book another hotel immediately. We wanted to have a refund, but the receptionist gave us only empty promises. He said we could talk to his manager on the next day in the morning. When I came on the next day morning he wasn't available. He said the manager would be in the afternoon. When I came in the afternoon again the person who's responsible was not there again. The receptionist was just a liar. Me and my family wasted our two days in Istanbul for this frustration. PS. It seems even taxi doesn't want to come this area. I was calling for a taxi when we were leaving 4 different taxi drivers (BiTaksi - Uber prototype) cancelled it. So we had to walk 5 mins to get a taxi.
Excellent hotel. Would book there again.
Quite hotel and great location
Great hotel and location. Staff are helpful. They have assisted me with PCR test. A nurse came to the hotel and received the result in 6 hours for 250 TL. Basic breakfast but good enough to start your day. The bed in extremely comfy.
The rooms, are clean and, and beutiful. The brekfast, very poor. The lokation is very good. They ask for extra money(7-10) uro for using the spa. So the nedt time i will no book again in this hotel
Very nice decor in the room. Lovely atmosphere breakfast was good and staff very nice.
Friendly staff, clean and beautiful place, great location
Beyond expectations
Excellent in all..staff, rooms, location, cleaning, breakfast, price
Great stay at Enderun hotel
Good hotel, friendly service. Great breakfast buffet.
The customer service was amazing, really helpful receptionist and other workers but the hotel was old and hard to find. The cleaners didn’t clean the rooms properly and the rooms smelled rotten. It’s a really old hotel and you can smell it. My phone dropped under the bed so I pulled the bed and found lots of rubbish underneath such as used condoms.
Staffs are really nice and really helpful especially the manager, Selkn Enrel (not sure if i wrote the name right) and Osman. They were amazing and very kind
The hotel is quite close to Beyazit Tram station which was a great plus as the road till Beyazit has a lot of local food shops restaurants. If you always go towards Sultanahmet area from this hotel then elevation shouldn't be your concern. It is pretty flat. In terms of cleanliness, it was good although they have very old faded carpets in the rooms. Breakfast was good too. The staff was pretty hesitant about giving extra coffee milk powder sachets which I didn't really understand. We like more milky coffee than a strong one. Every day I had to call for extra sachets. It wasn't like I was in the hotel to set up a coffee shop. They eventually used to send the sachets but either they would send them half an hour later or they would be like "we generally don't give extra sachets but okay we will give them to you". It was more like a fight to ask for 4/5 more sachets. We eventually bought them from nearest supermarket store. The moment we checked-in the staff seemed more interested in selling the tours which were ridiculously priced higher than the market rate so be careful. Although the airport transfer they offer was pretty reasonable and always on time. We stayed for 4 nights. The female staff of the hotel was very very sweet, welcoming and warm.
Very close to Grand Bazar, nice and clean, perfect polite helpful staff, lovely breakfast. Definitely I will stay there again.
great location, clean, interesting decoration. felt safe and cared for
Old-school charm and elegance
This old-boarding school turned hotel is a charming setting in the heart of Istanbul. The rooms were a lovely throw-back to a more elegant time, and the glassed-in breakfast gazebo in a garden area was a welcome breath of air in a very busy, modern city. The staff was excellent--very friendly and very helpful. The surrounding neighborhood, while not the best section in Istanbul, is safe enough, and the proximity to the Grand Bazaar and public transportation was very convenient. I would definitely stay there again.
Property is very nice and clean, stuff are excellent, only disadvantages is area which is very noisy.
So close yet so far
Shuttle took ages to arrive, general sexism (my name wasn’t on the booking but I was ignored) and my male friend spoken to instead from the off, bed wasn’t uncomfortable and duvet too small, only one bottle of free water (tight!) a day between us, only accepted payment in euros (we’re English so don’t easily have it to hand), didn’t give us the price for sauna and implied it wasn’t free then charged us at the end, and you need to wait two hours for the sauna, it isn’t just ready 😂 Thin walls, don’t expect much sleep, blackout blinds are useless. Could be loads better with a little improvement.
ENDERUN HOTEL - A GOOD CHOICE!
Well located in the Old Town - near restaurants of all prices. 5 minute walk to tram and within walking distance of most major sites. All the staff were very helpful and courteous. Breakfast was very good with the semit bread the best anywhere! Thank you to everyone at the hotel for making our stay so enjoyable. We'll be back!!
The staff tried to give me a much smaller room than I booked .
I will go back there.
Very good. Rooms are great. Breakfast was amazing.
I dont know what to start with, I think excellent is a small word for the service that was provided. One of the best decisions taken while planning our trip. So starting from the moment we landed, the hotel had arranged the pickup for us, and that was an amazing luxury 6 seater. As soon as we reached Berat was there to welcome us and he gave us major information about the city and guide maps. Then Ozisik droped us to our room and made sure everything was there, has was extremely helpful till the last day of our trip. The room was beyond amazing, it has a neat and clean bathroom, a single bedroom and a double bedroom with a balcony facing the bosphorus. We had a great sleep on the comfy bed and wokeup to the beautiful Istanbul morning. We went downstairs and were greated by Mr. Emre and Mr.Ahmet who were always there to help. The best part about all of the mornings was the yummy breakfast, you just name it and they have all the turkish fav breakfast items. The lady who made breakfast was really nice and she kept an eye that everything was perfect, she even served us fresh hand made cake in our plates, that was so sweet. The cleanliness was up to the mark and the room was made perfect every day, it was a treat to the eyes to get back to a clean room which you left messy lol.
Good experience. Nice location. Unique breakfast. Good room.
The walls are paper thin, and the doors don't fit properly, and the plumbing is noisy. For 5 nights I was kept awake until the early hours of the morning by bangs and clatters coming from people in the corridors / staircase etc .... and from talking / shouting / screaming children and crying baby's in other rooms. My Electric Razor was damaged beyond repair by the cleaning staff, and when I complained, the management were not in the least bit interested......Positives ? There's a decent selection for Breakfast, although the hot stuff (eggs scrambled or baked) is clap cold by 8-30........The area the Hotel is in, is pretty run down, dominated by Shoe and Bag manufacturing and Wholesaling, However It is within easy walking distance of the Grand Bazaar and Beyazit Tram Stop.
The hotel is close to major attractions. This hotel is great for a budget traveler. the breakfast is very good, so you can get ready for walking to all major attractions of Istanbul
The best thing about this hotel is location, quite central.
Great breakfast
As is often the case in Istanbul, the room was rather small but the hotel is very well kept. The breakfast room is in a conservatory in the garden and provides a wide range of food. The staff were very pleasant.
It is located close to public transport system. Tram station is at about five minutes walk. Many restaurants around. Staff very friendly and always ready to help. It is situated in busy area as such little noisy during the day. Breakfast is reasonably good.
Excellent location and professional staff 👍 The breakfast is very good with a wide variety of choices. I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone!!
The beds were really comfortable and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The Blue Mosque, Agia Sofia and the Grand Bazaar etc were all within easy walking distance and the Metro was nearby. The hotel could do with a little updating and the breakfast, although plentiful, would be improved with the addition of melon slices. However, we enjoyed our stay there and would recommend it.
It was 5 wonderful days. The hotel is in a great location, very close to the main tourist attractions. In a 15 minute walk we were in the main square where the Mosques and the Grand Bazaar stand. The room and beds supercomfortable and clean, breakfast delicious and complete, people very pleasant and always available. My sister and I love everything. We will be back to Istanbul and we will definitely be staying at Enderun Hotel. Thank you to the manager and everyone who helped make our holidays perfect. Marilene Dias and Mila Poli. May 2019
Great value for money hotel in good location
Location of this hotel is great, 15 minute walk to main area of Sultanahment and the Blue Mosque. Plenty of shops and restaurants on the doorstep and a lovely walk along a bustling main road full of shops and restaurants to Sultanahmet. Grand Bazaar and a tram/metro stop is a 5 minute walk. Hotel is great for the price, very friendly and helpful staff, nice clean rooms with a good shower, quiet at night but it does get quite noisy with local shop deliveries at around 7am, but it is in a busy location so expected. Breakfast was ok, good selection of international food. Overall, great value for money.
The Hotel was ideally located a short walk from the Grand Bazaar and the Historic sights of the city. The staff were helpful and welcoming. The breakfast was varied and tasty, which set you up for the day.
Liked the price, staff (helpful, respectful), location (about 15 mins walk from main Tourist attractions), my room (clean, great views from 3rd floor over the decaying rooftops to the sea, restful, quiet nights).. Breakfast was plentiful, but the fried eggs seemed to be the same ones all week. Fine on Monday, not so good by Thursday (scrambled on Friday). Location in old, run down, crowded part of Istanbul - not pretty but I never felt threatened, and it was v quiet at night.
It has a good location for covered Market and far enough away from noisy streets and traffic. This area is very hilly, so get ready for aching leg muscles!
This hotel was the perfect base for our short stay tourist visit to Istanbul. Clean, good location, sea view window, very clean (as noted by other too). Breakfast was a nice and large selection of items and staff was prompt and kind in helping or dealing with any issues. "Imere" at the reception was genuinely kind and helpful. (Thank you Imere if you are reading)
Great hotel - location issue
It was a great hotel where I will stay again if visit to Istanbul again. However, this great location will become a bit dangerous when the night is over 9.30pm. In one night, a mom asked her child chase us to beg for food/money (I'm not sure what's she talking about but based on her action). So will be better if go back to hotel before 9pm.
The property was clean and quiet, the staff was very helpful. The hotel was very close to all amenities, and shops.
A characterful hotel, with something of a retro style. Friendly staff, quiet location not too far from the old town. My single room was very small, which was not itself a significant problem; but the absence of any drawers or cupboards (other than the one smallish wardrobe with 4 hangers front to back) or bedside surface other than the floor did make living more awkward than perhaps necessary. The small wet-room had a faulty flush mechanism to the WC, and the water would commonly not stop noisily flowing. This was repeatedly reported, but not fixed. The flush-button plate was not screwed to the wall, so it was possible each time to lift it off, feel inside behind the pipes to pull the levers free of the valves to stop the flow and noise. If these irritations were addressed, it would be a fine 'cheap and cheerful' stay.
We love the cleanliness of the hotel, good food, and Excellent staff.
The stuff and the location is excellent The hotel was so clean and tidy The breakfast was so delicious I recommend to everyone
Excellent
Hotel was cosy and clean and very conveniently located next to everything however the best thing about this place is the staff. They were genuinely friendly and helpful so it made our trip that much more enjoyable.
I loved my stay at the Enderun Hotel. I loved the decoration and the breakfast was excellent. The staff were very helpful especially Tufan and Ahmed. Tufan was so kind in helping me with my internet access and he was always approachable and friendly. The location of this hotel was ideal being a 5 minute walk from The grand Bazaar. 10 minutes from the Blue mosque and spice market. I would definitely recommend it , great value for the money.
The hotel is a boutique old one, located in the middle of the old europian side, into a commercial area, very close to all main Istanbul's' touristic attractions ...the place is secure, close to one of the main transport lines (T1)...and walking distance to the grand baazar.
Friendly service and pleasant stay Thank you for a proffessional team
An excellent location for exploration of Old Istanbul and beyond. Easy access to the Metro or explore everything by foot. Service within the hotel is warm and friendly; and everything worked as it should. We would definitely return.
Nice environment
The hotel and staff are ok overall. The staff, in general, are kind and helpful. I went for a short break and this hotel was the best option quality/price. I don’t retreat my choice.
Enjoyed our stay here. Staff professional. Received a poor room on the first night right behind the reception desk. But they changed our room the next day. Breakfast was amazing. The hotel is very classically beautiful inside and feels like you are in the movies...
Close to most tourist attractions; helpful staff who were great in giving suggestions and were very respectful
Mr.Tofan was excellent very Co operated other was also ok but not Better then him it was great location near everything can find
Convenient location and good hotel
3 night stay, hotel & room was clean and tidy with housekeeping each day. 24hour front desk service. Area was central and convenient to all points of interest, within 30min walk
Nice hotel in a convenient location.
Old tired room, great staff and location
The pictures in the ads dont do justice. The room with exception of bathroom, is old, tired, needing update and much more lighting. The location is great and the staff has great hospitable attitude.
The room was great, breakfast buffet was wonderful, the staffs were very friendly. Only one thing I should mention is that a lady staff entered my room without my ok just after 3 knocks. It turned out to be just a mistake, but anyway the staff should not do that.
Cosy and clean
The hotel is pretty and clean All the rooms have high ceilings but are small The rooms are clean, the breakfast area is nice and the breakfast is ok. The staff are accomodating. The hotel is located around wholesale area so during weekdays, cabs can't access this place till after 6. It's located a walking distance from the grand bazaar and local aminities HOWEVER, if you have mobility issues, this will not be the hotel for you as it's located over a steep road. The staff offer services to arrange Bosphorus tours, cab, excursion etc. However, it's expensive. We opted to do our own arrangements. Overall it's a nice hotel to stay in .
Nice boutique hotel
Reasonably priced boutique hotel, clean rooms and helpful staff. Near the bazaar, tram and underground. Not on the main road, getting there is through narrow lanes which is confusing initially.
The garden wss beatifull, breakfast was good, location was good, staff freindly. The blanket was small. The doors always pass the sound and noise.
Hotel is generally good and located in convenient location, the rooms are small, but clean, little need to increase the assortments of breakfast, the staff are good.
Nice location
Nice hotel located close to the beach, restaurants , transport, shops .
Amazing staff and property very close to all major attractions. Will stay again for sure .
Very friendly hospitable staff, excellent breakfast with varied food, clean comfortable rooms. The hotel is surrounded by small apartment buildings and shoe stores. As advertized, it is truly a short walk from the main attractions.
It was a good stay. I was spending the evening in the hotel. I had a good location close to the markets and archaeological sites. I could visit it again. They had small bathrooms in the rooms.
A vintage but very well maintained, classic hotel
The hotel is located in the heart of what seems to be an old town with very narrow and crowded streets lined up with numerous shops, stores and other establishments. One may initially feel a little uncomfortable seeing the surroundings, however, the bad impression will go away right after checking in, seeing the place and being greeted by polite and helpful hotel staff. The hotel is a vintage one but very well maintained. Everything - facilities, rooms, furrnitures and curtains were classic reminding us of earlier periods and making us feel like royals; of course except toilets and shower rooms that are modern. Everything is in order and are very clean; beds and bed sheets are fresh and comfortable. Buffet style breakfast are being served in a gazebo like structure in the front yard. Breakfast items are more than basic and are sufficient for us to start the day healthy. The hotel is also nicely located. Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque could be reached in less than 10 minutes walk. The crowded narrow streets turned out to be safe place to walk later on with plenty of shops and restaurants.
The room is very small no pleace to move .very hard to find the address
Hotel looks brand new in photos but it’s old. Rooms are small in american standards. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Hotel should add access for strollers or wheelchairs. Day time cruise costs no more than 40 lira per person
4 start hotel
The hotel is near to public transportation (5 min walking distance) and provides a free open buffet breakfast with many of verity (cold and hot) Turkish dishes. The hotel will recommend you to places nearby attractions and the most convenient way to get there.
Great Staff! (Especially Mr. Erkan)
I learned something during my stay at this hotel. The best hotels are not those that have the best and biggest facilities and comforts. The best are those that have people who want to make your experience better and luxurious, with whatever they have. This hotel has good amenties and luxury, but most importantly, the staff is ready to do anything to make you happy (especially Erkan, the Front Desk Manager). That deserves a 5 star.
Instant hot water, excellent breakfast, super nice staff! Oh! And a nice gym
