Little overpriced. Spacious room with refrigerator, iron, TV, coffee pot but the cleaning is a little lacking.

The room was clean and the property was safe. The building was older. The toilet screeched every time it was flushed. The sink and counter were leaning off the wall, the flusher on the toilet was falling off, and the shower drained very slowly.

Drive right up to your door. Friendly staff. Comfortable room.

Bedbugs

One room had obvious signs of bedbugs. They moved us to another room and the bedding was still stained and the bedbug risk didn't seem worth it so we left and stayed somewhere else.

Stayed here before off and on over last few years but now property is in serious decline. Unpleasant mildew odor in rooms, toilet broken and ran all night. Not as decent as it used to be for the price. Needs upgrade and repair. Probably will not stay there again...sad decline.

Ok for one night, bed clean but other surfaces need attention, poor value for money.

This motel was great. The oarking was fantastic, one of the comfiest beds ice slept in and the room was huge. Stagg were very polite and helpful with anybquestions we had and itbwas just an overall great experience. Would definitely stay again.

Read the reviews, thought this would be a decent place to stay for a week of work in Santa Monica area at different Ambulatory Surgery Centers than driving back and forth everyday from Ventura. This property is in a derelict area. Wooden floor thruout room was covered in dust from filthy ac vent filter, mold on bed sheets, layers of dust in corners. Mold around bathroom window. Plush towels, good water pressure and free parking were pluses. However, one work assignment got cancelled for Friday and I needed to check out 1 night earlier. Property collects all monies at check-in. I explained to the manager that I had an emergency and needed to check out 1 day earlier to go cover a different assignment for a nurse who had an emergency and he told me I had to get the refund from Expedia even though I paid him directly on arrival. Expedia contacted the property and was told they needed to submit a request in writing for a refund which they did. The property manager refused to refund one night even though I was still going to be staying 2 more nights for work. This property also does not offer housekeeping. I found out too late that I needed to tell the manager it was OK to come into my room to clean!! There is a kitchenette which was another reason I booked however the fridge was not cleaned, the microwave barely heated up food and the ac unit was extremely loud when in use. Since these are all ground floor rooms beware of opening the door as critters run in from outside.

Could have been better since the plumbing system needs service. quite a bit the watering can half water up and half down the water is sprayed as I said. The plumbing was very poorly attended to. The others things are fine.

This hotel is great if you want little foot traffic on property as there are very few rooms.

What I find most interesting about this motel is, you can hear the street traffic, but it sounds like Sean waves crashing on rocks and not like street traffic at all.

Great room for a small motel!

The motel doesn't look like much from the outside, but the room itself is as nice as some hotel rooms. It was in great condition and the bathroom and shower were nice. the bed was comfortable as well.

This ;property is good, as it is only 17 rooms in total and they are removed directly from the street. Each seems to be a studio apartment. My only “problem” with this place is they need to upgrade the color scheme! The room I was in had all dark materials —the wall paint, bed linen, desk, floor, etc.—and made the atmosphere of the room feel “heavy” Other than that, I had a wonderful stay and slept very well!

The room was clean & tidy with good bathroom kitchenette. The heater was an old unit and noisy. The motel located not far from Venice Beach on local bus. Very good brew pub 5 mins walk Firestone Walker.

Good place to stay

The hotel was filthy. The room had not been cleaned - not just since the previous guests, the room had not been cleaned in years. The sink and the bathtub drains were clogged with hair from previous guests. The floor of the room was so dirty that I had to wear shoes the whole time. The towels were dirty. This isn’t a hotel for people visiting on business or vacation, it is a shelter for the long term homeless. Avoid this place and stay somewhere else. I did not feel safe at any time during my stay. I locked my belongings in my car rather than leave them in the room. I travel a lot and this is the worst place that I’ve ever stayed at

The hotel looks pretty run down and “sketchy” from the outside, but I went in trusting other reviews I had seen, and all of the cars in the parking lot were nice. It looks like the type of motel people rent by the week or month, but the rooms are very clean and spacious. We had a king sized bed, there’s a nice sized kitchenette plus plenty of space to move around - you could even fit a double air mattress on the floor if needed. My only complaint is that the door did not have a way to secure it “extra” like a chain - you could see two places in the door frame where some had been removed. I ended up pushing a chair in front of the door for some piece of mind. The bed is comfortable, but the blankets are light and thin, as well. I would probably stay again if I was in the area

AFM2023 Stay

Service and cleanliness were great. Parking was a little challenging, but due more to other guests than the facility. Mattresses were a little stiff, but still provided good rest.

Not a pretty area, but the motel is safe and away from street, so we were comfortable in room.

Motel was in a business area. 2 blocks away there was shopping, restaurants etc.

Do NOT book this motel !! You will be sorry if you did. I would never ever stay at this place if I had known better 1. The location is terrible. It is not a safe location ! Homeless people are always around there, and scary ! 2. The rooms are filthy ! The day I checked in, the bed sheet was filthy (see picture), it looked like it was not changed after someone had sex on it ! 3. Equipment are old and not working. AC is our room stayed at 87 degrees in hot weather ! The celling fan was making noise and the bathroom fan will keep you awake all night ! 4. The owner is an Indian guy, he has extremely bad attitude and very short tempered, obviously knew nothing about how to run business in America. He thinks this is still India and he was treating customers badly. 5. The owner was so rude and was pointing finger at my wife as she was questioning why her items were moved to another room. This guy was thinking he was talking to an indian woman and could treat woman like dirt. I dont see how even any indian woman could put up with this trash! 6. We were bumped from one room to another without notification. No hotels ever do that ! 7. The room door could be opened by anyone with a key card, as the lock or deadbolt from inside either don't work or NOT THERE ! go figure DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE !

room smelled awful and was not the cleanest either. for the price i paid you’d think it would of been a little (A LOT) more nicer. it is right by a busy street so you could here loud noises from cars/people passing by from your room. only stayed one night, thank goodness. on the bright side at least there’s an in-n-out across the street…

Great Location

The Encore was close to Venice Beach, lots of restaurants, Costco, etc. The room was quiet and clean. Enjoyed having a little kitchenette. Overall, the room was a tired, but adequate and a good price.

Nice until we saw the bathroom!

King size bed was nice and room was nice but no blankets, bathroom was a disaster! Molding and sink back splash where all pulled away from the wall about a 1/2 inch, mold all around the window and mold going up the wall near the bottom of the shower about a foot and molding had pulled away from the wall! There was no anti slip points on the bottom of the bathtub so it was very slippery and the tv was a nice large size but never could find any local channels or weekly shows to watch! Very disappointed! Cost effective but the mold made it a breeding ground for spores!

I had a great experience for what I paid for. It was well cleaned, partially updated with new paint etc. little things need work but I was still satisfied. The area is noisy next to the road and the walls can be thin but I just slept with ear plugs and was fine. I was able to walk to several restaurants from there and it was easy to drive from. Overall I felt safe and comfortable and had a great experience!

No heat, flickering lights, literal nightmare

Not sure if it was how the hotel is normally or the horrible rainy weather, but our room had the power intermittently going out the entire night. We had heat when we arrived, but it did not work after we got back from dinner. The outlet wouldn't even charge my phone properly, it kept disconnecting and reconnecting. Overall I wouldn't take the cheapest option again, especially in February. Biggest complaint was freezing in the room.

We stayed in the room with 2 king sized beds and the beds were comfortable. The bedding was decent, if stained. The carpet is pretty gnarly looking and everything in the room could use a deep cleaning. It didn't flood though! And seeing as you step down into the room and we were there during a flood watch that was a happy bonus. There is a very convenient and cheap bus going directly down to the beach, an In-n-Out directly across the street and a Walgreens just down the block so if you're in town and need some essentials it's in a good spot. It's also a quick and surface street trip to LAX. The room is pretty quiet and there is a ceiling fan. Unfortunately for us the heater/ac until stopped working our second day, and we were having brown-outs that night which dimmed the already dim lights. I don't know if it was a city wide situation or just the hotel, or just the room. There is a vent in the room that is just open to the outside so it did get pretty chilly once the heater went out (this was during the Blizzard of '23). The owners seemed nice enough and had we asked I'm sure we could have gotten extra blankets. It wasn't anything fancy but it was certainly in range of being the cheapest place to house a family of four with room to move in LA so we got what we were looking for.

Really surprised by this place. The staff was great, nice amenities (microwave, sink, coffee, good wifi, tv, shampoo, lotion, bodywash, hair dryer, iron) and I got one of my best night's sleep here. I'm also from NYC so I walked everywhere including Venice each day (30-40 minutes). Good food options and public transport (bus $1-$1.25) right outside the door

Honestly didn’t use the place much besides to shower and sleep so I don’t know about amenities but the room was surprisingly nice and well kept. Close to lots of restaurants and stuff in MDR and Venice. Only complaint is that nobody was at the front desk this morning when I wanted to ask if I could extend my stay another night.

Surprisingly clean and quiet! Not the best but certainly not the worst and the price is decent.

We are not too fussy so this motel was perfect for us. Nice and simple. Around a 20 minute walk to the beach. Near a lot of bus stops. Restaurants and shops close by. Friendly staff. Clean room. Big double bed, TV, Fridge, Shower/Bath etc.

They ignore do not disturb signs

I will not be staying here again. Yes, it was a very large room with lots of space. It also had a fridge, microwave, and kitchen sink. Those were the only good things about this place. The bathroom walls were disgusting, there was hair in the shower that was not ours, and the carpet was dsigusting. Your feet got black just walking on it. There were also black stains on one of the pillow cases and some of the towels. The thing that was most annoying to us, though, was that they ignored the do not disturb sign. We don't like having the maids come in while staying at a hotel because we like to spread everything out and don't like people moving our things about. When we need things like fresh towels, we call for service. Because of this, we leave the do not disturb sign up when we leave for the day. Both days, the sign was ignored. They came in, changed out the towels, and oddly, left the trash. It felt like an invasion of privacy. Also, most hotels in California don't change towels daily unless you request it in order to conserve water. Why they don't beats me. The parking was also very tight. It was nice to have free parking, but it was very hard to get in and out of the spaces.

The property is walking distance to the Marina del Rey area. It has shops and restaurants close by.
