Property was in a good area.
Property clean and service is execellent.
We had a wonderful stay for three nights in November 2024. The staff was pleasant and friendly, the food was great, and the view from the terrace was beautiful. The location was great and we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go.
Great stay
Excellent front desk staff and wonderful historic hotel in the heart of the City.
The staff were amazing and helpful we were able to relax and enjoy time in the restaurant and bar
ESPECTAKULAR
Property is overrated
Fantastic Find
A total gem in the heart of Tánger. I couldn’t have been happier with the hotel. The staff was top notch. The hotel and styling is exactly what one hopes for. The restaurant is good with a terrific view. And the proximity to the Medina and restaurants and attractions is all very close, walkable and easy!
Great location in the heart of the city
All the staff at El Minzah were super friendly, professional and helpful. I highly recommend staying at El Minzah, the facility were well kept and clean, and the best part is the location, in the heart of the Medina with lots of restaurants, shopping stores and the ability to experience Tangier within walking distance and at the same time having the security , quickness and safety that the hotel provides.
It is a lovely hotel but the housekeeping let us down. We came back to our rooms late afternoon to find we had no towels. The phone didn’t work and so we had to go back down to Reception. Some of the female waitresses in the bar weren’t very friendly. It’s a 5 star hotel. But the decor and position is lovely. Food was lovely too. So I would go back.
Iconic hotel, friendly staff, impeccably clean, comfortable beds, beautiful pool area, huge variety of food for the included breakfast. The only parts I didn't like was that the AC wasn't very strong, and when they clean your room, they take your towels but don't give you replacement towels until hours later, so twice I returned to my room to find there were no towels.
Good location
Good location, helpful staff, good breakfast and pool.
Amazing
This is not a 5 star hotel! The beds were appalling, so hard I couldn’t sleep. I asked for a topper for the mattress, they put a thin blanket down. Difficult to get room service, and the pool bar staff very rude, it was one rule for the Moroccan tourists and another for us! Great meal and staff in the restaurant. Pool staff exceptional. Small room for me as a disabled person with a mobility scooter
Bel hôtel dans la Médina
Très bel hôtel avec une magnifique vu, le déjeuner le matin était bon et varié. La piscine et d’une très bonne taille
5 ***** stay
I had the pleasure of staying at El Menzah Hotel for a couple of weeks, and it was an exceptional experience. The food was delightful, the pool was refreshing, and the spa was outstanding. Ali from the spa was especially attentive and always greeted us with a warm smile. The professionalism of the entire staff was impressive throughout my stay. I’m already looking forward to returning. Additionally, I would like to commend Farida, the housekeeper on the 3rd floor, whose attentiveness and professionalism greatly enhanced our visit.
Wonderful stay. The staff were attentive and kind. Location of the hotel is great, making it easy to walk into the city centre for meals and tourism. Room was lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The hotel is nice, but I didn’t get the vip benefit
The hotel & staff definitely provided a 5 star service. The outdoor pool area was very busy, so we didn't get an opportunity to use the outdoor pool. The restaurants were fantastic, the food was amazing & the staff couldn't do enough for us. Overall, we had an amazing stay & would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Tangiers.
Attentive professional staff. Perfect location for exploring Tanger and a relaxing oasis right in the centre of town. We had a room facing the roads which are busy until the early hours but you wouldn't know as the windows are well sound proofed. Some areas are dated as you would expect for a hotel of this age. Fantastic stay!
A classic hotel in a central location within walking distance of everything. The hotel's location, classic feel and decour and peaceful rear terrace are the best things about it. The only criticisms would be that the room was a little small for the price, the pool was a bit busy and the breakfast buffet was a little chaotic in the mornings.
Staff was very helpful.
From other reviews I was expecting a slightly run down hotel but was impressed and thought it had not lost any of it’s charm from when it first opened in the 1930s. Lovely grandeur, refreshing nice pool in a convenient location between the old medina and more modern part of the town. We took the airport bus and walked about 15-20mins to the hotel. Staff were all polite and let us check in 30mins early. I really enjoyed staying at this hotel.
The staff was incredible
This is an older hotel, but still a high end hotel to me. The staff was excellent. The beds were very comfortable. Our room was quite large. The room was quiet and the patio and views were excellent. Breakfast was was excellent. The dinner was very good and we really enjoyed the show. I highly recommend this hotel. I recommend transportation to and from the port. Shopping was close by in the Medina and Casbah.
Very nice hotel excellent location
Très bel hôtel très bien situé au pied de la Médina. Personnels courtois, disponible et attentionnés. Un hôtel haut de gamme que je recommande.
C’est le luxe à part entière!
Excellent stay at El Minzah. Clean rooms and friendly staff. Excellent location for walking and exploring the sights. The gym is a little bit run down but functional. Highly recommend.
They are very good, but the rooms and air is old. They need to improve now, because its not matter how long you are there, what matters how well your property is.
It’s a very nice historic building in a great location. Breakfast is great and the diner with the live music is fantastic! The elevator configuration is a disaster, so either you’re too patient or you end up taking the stairs like we did everytime.
Love the El Minzah!
What a wonderful experience! A beautiful old hotel with exceptional staff. Everyone we encountered was a delight. I can’t wait to go back
Beautiful space with excellent customer service. The best hotel I stayed in while in Morocco. I would happily return.
The property was rated as 5* It is not. Its old and needs modernising. It was clean, but we had to ask twice for towels when we arrived. The toiletries would be good for the older gentleman. The staff do not understand simple English. The rooms are very noisy.
Nice hotel, great location, with super friendly staff
Excellent location in town, near to cafes, shops and the Old Medina. Historic property with great ambiance. Great room with a lovely view of the Bay and Spain. Extremely good breakfast! Very copious, with a variety of hot dishes. Lunch service in the Bar was not up to standard. The lock on our room door was broken and the door made a terrible noise when opening. Housekeeping / maintenance staff were oblivious to the problem so it was not repaired during our stay.
Once grand
We selected El Minzah as a nice hotel with multi-lingual staff to ease any concerns about communication when making travel arrangements and help during our visit. We checked in and were told our room was upgraded to a suite- great! The room had a welcome platter of fruit and sweets- and the room was huge and looked nice. It was quickly clear just how little English the staff spoke. The hotel was once grand, but now is really dated. Beds and linens were comfortable, but odd things happened. They took the bathrobes and glasses away and didn’t replace them. Staff didn’t understand my repeated requests. They stopped leaving us a complimentary bottle of water after day 2 insisting that we have to pay. The bidet leaked water all over the floor that the staff didn’t mop up. The bar was listed as a great place to have a drink- but that was hit and miss as well. The wine room dinner was surprisingly good, but again, the room looks like it has been gathering dust for years and needs an update.
Property is old and needs renovation by all means. Bathroom wash handles were broken, toilet was abused Spa is dirty and no amenities Very bad experience Will not repeat
This was possibly the nicest hotel we've ever stayed in with the incredible harbor views, great restaurant onsite, and fantastic staff. It also boasts wonderful amenities like an indoor pool, currency exchange, and of course, Caids Bar which was the inspiration for Rick's American Café in Casablanca. It is located directly across the street from the French embassy and the medina and Grand Socco are a quarter mile walk away. We will definitely be staying here again.
The staff at the lobby and the restaurant were very nice and helpful. In particukar the concierge, he went out of his way and helped us find an excellent local guide.
PERFECTLY LOCATED TO THE MEDINA AND OTHER SHOPPING
Love the Minzah
The most iconic hotel in Tangier, it’s been there for many years and it has the soul of Tangier. Great service, great spa and overall a very nice stay.
The hotel itself has an old world charm and whilst a bit tired in areas it doesn’t detract from the stay. The room staff were a delight, very friendly and helpful and should be recognized. When bringing some items around the hotel to the attention of reception they were very responsive and auctioned things immediately. The main feedback is the lack of plant based options at the restaurants and the lack of attention by the F&B staff. No one was looking to see if they could provide service to the customer, eyes were averted and very slow to respond. They just need training. We would return.
Top quality hotel
Top quality hotel in every respect. Excellent facilties, room quality top drawer and wonderful staff. Can't think of enough good things to say. The location is also excellent - right in the middle of all the local shops, street vendors and night life
Its an old hotel that would have been fabulous in its day. Great position for exploring the Souk. Has a pool.
We loved the staff the gardens, pool it was a oasis is in the center of Tangiers .The dinner and show were excellent we felt very comfortable and safe .
Great location- can’t beat it, parking is great. The man at the parking gate was really helpful. Lovely pool.
Nice hotel
The beds are very hard and small like cigarette
Housekeeping wasn’t really meeting the hotel standards
Stay here when in Tangier!
Great hotel - excellent location, solid gym, lovely pool, wonderful staff. They call it the best hotel in Tangier for a reason.
Former grand hotel now a little faded. The service at reception Was great and very helpful but let down by the slow service at the bar where the waiters were absent for large periods despite not being that busy. glasses and dishes piled up behind the bar were also not a good look. Hotel is handily situated near the Medina so easy to explore that area.
The hotel was very elegant. It seemed like we stepped back in time to an earlier era. The pool was wonderful, the breakfast amazing. The property was is pristine condition. El Minzah is the best place to stay in Tangier.
Location of hotel is great. Also has parking if you are lucky. unfortunately the service you receive lacks that of a 5 star. check in was okay. prior to checking in emailed like 3/4 times with original booking and subsequent email to ensure rooms are okay and cot is provided. none of these emails were responded too until we actually checked out. complete joke. we were placed on the 3rd floor 3 adults 2 kids 4 and 2. soon after lift broke down and only way to get up and down was to use the stairs. it is okay but not easy carrying luggage and kids. said it would be fixed in 10 minutes to come back 2 hours later and still not repaired. it was the only lift accessible for guests in the hotel. we were also checking out at 5am due to needing to catch an early flight. in the hotel it said breakfast was from 7am, but as we walked out we saw that the breakfast area was prepared and therefore missed out on breakfast. hotel staff could have informed us that breakfast at 5am would be possible. sadly the hospitality was not like the hospitality I have received travelling around the rest of Morocco and it was very much centred around getting money from the guest. location was good but would not stay here again even thought it has parking. it supposedly had a business centre which is like a side room, I asked to use to computer to do a few things and check in for my flight. I was advised to just email the booking to their email and they would print it. no access to a computer.
Nice hotel ,very convenient and close to everything.
The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was terrific and served with a view. The room was spectacular with a terrace facing the sea. Extraordinary!
This was a beautiful property and made us feel like we were in old world hollywood from the 1940's and 50's.
This is a fantastic property and I am glad to have stayed here. One issue however, I did not have TV or Internet in my room. I spoke to the staff 3x about this and the told me to go to my room and they’ll have a “tech guy” come right up. Said “tech guy” never arrived. At about 10:30 pm I came to my senses and understood one would never show. I realize, I am in Tangier and there is plenty to do and see w/o these things. That said I have family with health issues back home and needed to be in contact. I would have given this hotel a perfect score had these issues been resolved.
Great stay, perfect blend of traditional and modern
The old fashion authentic architecture. Great breakfast
Very nice hotel at the heart of Tangiers, close ro all in the medina. Very attentive and friendly staff. Will definitely go back
The property was beautiful and breakfast was nice. It was hard to get service in the restaurant
The hotel was ok. Not what you expect from a 5 star hotel.
Best hotel to stay in in Tanger
Great place and service 👍 A A A
This hotel was the best hotel in our 10 days trip. Beautiful sitting areas with awesome views. 2 restaurants with live music. Pool, and spa services was available. Walking distance to center.
Wonderful
A truly splendid hotel in a great location.
Fantastic traditional property. Everyone treated me with great service and care. They need to work out better coordination of how the restaurant service works. Self serve or Full service at the table was uncertain however once that was overcome the service was excellent. Would be helpful if Head Host in restaurant spoke Engliah as he could only speak French. Not a problem at all however would have helped with communication.
A truly fantastic hotel. All the facilities of the mega hotels (pool, gym, hammam, restaurants, bar) that you find further out on the coast - but with the priceless bonus of being right next to the historic medina, and the charm of a historic building. Staff were 5 star professional. Didn't stay for dinner but the lunchtime pool menu and breakfast had a great range. And the swimming pool is lush - you lounge on grass, sheltered from the wind by trees but plenty of direct sun action . My only small gripe is that the bed was firmer than I would have liked and not enough complimentary water in the rooms for a longer stay. I'd definitely stay again
Very nice hotel near the souks, a 2 minute walk. Staff very helpful with arranging tours.
The staff was super warm and welcoming. The hotel was in a great location and the rooms were clean and very nice. The pools and the facilities were terrific.
We loved this hotel in the heart of Tangier. Very clean, nice bar, great breakfast buffet. Beautiful and authentic hotel.
This was by far the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in and the staff were by far the kindest. I love Tangier and the hotel made my stay remarkable. My next visit to Tangier I will be staying in El Minzah.
Comfortable. Go to the spa!
El Minzah was a great stay! Very comfortable and a separation from the hustle and bustle of Tangier. The hammam was AMAZING and the best part of the experience
Tanger
We had some noise the first night and they quickly changed and upgraded our room. Everyone was unfailingly nice and the facility was nice. Only ongoing issue was poor internet connectivity.
Well located in the city center . Comfortable and convenient.
Great spot to unwind after a long travel day.
Great spot to refresh after a long travel day to get to Morocco. There is a wonderful pool and gym area to use as well as sauna and steam room. This was easy to get to from the airport and had parking as well. Room service was available, which was really helpful since we got in pretty late.
The staff there were excellent! From the arrival to the exit, from the reception to the housekeeping personnel! I enjoyed my stay and will come again.
Perfect location to explore Tangiers from. The hotel is a historic landmark building with lots of prestigious international guests over the years. Overall, the staff was very professional and attentive to our needs. Complimentary breakfast was excellent in a beautiful space with views of the harbor.
Customer service was excellent, restaurants were wonderful every meal was delicious. Rooms are spacious and clean. I also had a great massage at the Spa
The hotel is cozy and located at a beautiful location
Excellent Service.
The staff was very friendly and the hotel was very clean and chic
Property is in the city center, you can walk to Qasba, minutes away from local street market. Security was good.
Very beautiful and authentic hotel. The staff was great, the food and entertainment was great and the location was great. We stayed my wife and I for our anniversary in a huge upgraded suite!
Beautiful property
Beautiful and historic property.
Really good location, very friendly staff,it was worth every penny.
An absolutely fabulous hitel in every aspect. Giegrous pool snd gardens
Excellent service and staff! Stunning hotel and beautiful spacious rooms! Walkable to shops and restaurants and Madina. Loved my stay!
Great experience!
It was a nice comfortable place! Close to the Medina and the port! Didn’t have time to use the pool but it is a nice area!
Was a lovely stay Lovely breakfast and service
Property is in a great location. It is close to most things. It didn't seem like a 5 star hotel though, more like 3.5. It might have been more impressive a while ago. The entrance is strange, it is small and you need to go through a metal detector to enter. The reception area was small and often crowded. There was a single elevator and it was also tiny and old. The rooms were well-appointed but the Wifi was very slow and the shower often did not have hot water. The workout room was large and had an amazing view, but the machines and weights were very old and many things were broken. The pool area and plaza area were beautiful. Finally, the price was decent. If you are looking to stay at a fancier place that is convenient and at a reasonable price, I would recommend this hotel. Just be prepared for it not being a 5-star resort.
Good
Great location, close to Old Medina. The bed and pillows are comfortable. Breakfast spread is good and greatly located overlooking the ocean and a perfect spot to watch sunrise. The Moroccan restaurant in the hotel is very convenient to experience moroccan music and belly dancing
Hotel was gorgeous and staff was very friendly and gave us all the assistance we needed.
Don’t stay here, never a five star hotel
As a gold Hotel client we thought we would be offered an upgrade yet when we asked for this we were given Super Deluxe room was a small corner room, with one of the windows that didn’t open, when we checked in, there was only one dirty towel in the room, also the service lift is jus beside this room 121, making it a very noisy place at all times of day and night. Had to go to reception to have clean ones sent up. Breakfast is from 7am till 11am at 9:30am went the buffet was mostly empty, not one of the hot dishes had any food in them. We were told they were going to be refilled, we left half an hour later and nothing changed. When we complained no one wanted to take responsibility, eventually reception sent us a breakfast tray to our room. Yet next day exactly the same thing happened. Don’t think we will be going there again. We had stayed there before and had been very good, obviously things have changed.
Delicious food and fantastic entertainment!
Avoid Avoid Avoid
The biggest decline. The service was absolutely dreadful. Check is at 2pm. I arrived after a long journey to be told my room wasn’t ready. There was no explanation, no apology…nothing. Front desk are rude. Service at the pool area is slow and agin awful. Ordered some food. After an hour of waiting…I asked where my food was only to be told the kitchen was closed. When I confronted the waitress she told me she was too busy serving customers to inform me. Honestly… the location is good but the hotel has lost its charm and is now a tired looking building with perhaps the worse service I have ever had in a hotel. Such a shame
El Minzah Hotel | Hotel in Tangier | Travala.com
The most magical place — El Minzah is an institution! The architecture and atmosphere retains the old Hollywood charm of El Minzah’s 1930s and 40s heyday. Service is impeccable and staff are extremely kind. We were lucky to be here for New Year’s Eve and there was a party for guests (included with the rooms) complete with four-course feast, champagne, Moroccan drumline, and flamenco until the early hours. Our new favorite place in Morocco!
