Nice place to sleep one night
The hotel is surrounded with history, perfectly complementing the charm of the area. The Colonial Zone itself is vibrant and full of culture, and staying at Beatereo felt like stepping back in time while still enjoying modern comforts. The rooms were clean and well-maintained, offering everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Recommended.
No generator supporting AC during power cut. For this price it’s highway robbery
Las habitaciones podrian mejorar mucho
Convenient location. Safe and easy accessibility
This is a lovely, small, historic hotel. It is also a museum. The breakfast was hearty and beautifully presented. The neighborhood is going through major restoration, but it was not noisy or inconvenient for us. We stayed there twice during our time in the DR and enjoyed both visits.
Excellent, Beautiful romantically Historic
Checking into "El Beaterio Casa Museo". It was like stepping back in time. I was shocked by the beauty and all the historical details provide on plaques in the walls. The walls were built of coral and many details restored to the original state. The internal courtyard is detailed with spanish tile and full of tropical plants. The room were beautifully reminisent of the old world. Bkfast was dominican with a delicious homemade papaya marmalade included with the room. The service was wonderful & helpfull. I would stay here again.
Return guest, excellent breakfast and front desk (Jose & Marvin) very helpful. Thank You!
We loved the rustic charm, ambiance and amazing Colonial history associated with this hotel. Breakfast was a nice touch with fruits, eggs, juice, pastries and homemade beads.
Great ambience. Nice staff. Breakfast was ok. But it is a very good option on that price range.
It’s a historic property so the room wasn’t large, but clean and very convenient location. I would recommend.
The staff were helpful and friendly. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The breakfast more than adequate very tasty!
Many problems with bathroom, breakfast not great at all... Dissappointed
Absolutely gorgeous place.
Great stay, great location. A little humidity smell in the room. Breakfast is very good, staff is great and helpful. Location is great. It was in general a good stay.
Nice hotel with historical sentiment.
Super friendly staff. Love the historical aspect of this hotel. Room was good enough. Breakfast was awesome. Beautiful rooftop with amazing views.
This is a very historical property and has been lovingly restored and furnished. I felt like a was sleeping in a piece of history. The breakfast was great and the staff made was feel at home and were extremely friendly and helpful.
Excellent staff (Thank You Ms. Damaze & Mr. Jose) and customer service. :)
Very friendly staff. A nice cozy spot
Excellent staff!
just love the place the staff and its location.
Thank you for the attention
Beautiful quaint hotel in great location.
Best place to stay in santo domingo zona colonial.
Historic property with gorgeous spacious rooms and tropical garden.
I loved this hotel. The style is beautiful. Courtyard was very nice. The staff were nice and breakfast was pretty good. My only complaint was that my a/c was not working in my room. I complained but they didn’t do anything about it.
Good
This property has amazing history and energy and the warmest staff.
Colonial Santo Domingo Hotel
Very friendly staff. Front desk is fluent in English. Very attentive to my needs. Great interior decorations.., it’s like staying in a museum. Highly recommend if you are looking to stay in the historic district
Lovely setting.
Great location and history. Excellent breakfast and beautiful setting with a lovely courtyard. The shower in my room did not have a working drain. I asked for this to be fixed (showered in 4 inches of standing water and tiles was slippery from all the soap build up) but sadly it wasn't.
We loved the quaint old-world charm that the property exudes in La Zona Colonial while being walking distance from many shops, cafes, restaurants, bars and nightlife.
Charming hotel in the colonial area, very close to good restaurants. We stayed for 7 nights with the family and discovered something new every day in this charming part of the city. The service was excellent, the breakfast was freshly prepared every morning. I understand this is a very old building so amenities are limited but regardless we had a great time and highly recommend this hotel. Worth noting there are quite a few tourism security guards making sure the area is safe for tourist to walk even late in the evening, se we felt safe the entire time we were there
Decent hotel in nice location.
Great location in heart of colonial old city. The rooms are very rustic. Only thing is that the bed is a bit old and sunk in a lot. But still comfortable. A solid 4 out of 5. But staff wasn’t able to help with luggage. Breakfast okay but wasn’t out of this world like other reviews had said.
An absolutely beautiful setting. Beautiful room. Great breakfast. Wonderful linens on the bed. Polite and professional staff. You can’t ask for more
A quaint hotel located in a safe and walkable area. My only negative was that to access rooms on the second floor you are required to walk up in areas that are not covered, which if raining (as it was heavily during my stay) will cause you to get very wet.
Excellent customer service, breakfast and location.
Boutique museum house
Great place, friendly stuff
Felt welcome!! Great place, quiet, walkable, everything is within 10 minutes walk:
The property was convenient and beautiful. This place has historical value which was very interesting. I did pay for the nicer room my last night and did not receive the deluxe that is my only real complaint.
would more likely to recommend this hotel to my friends. Very friendly staff and comfortable environment.
Very historic and charming
Everything was really quite nice and pleasant. It’s a unique experience in a old world building. For us the rooms are nice for a short stay but perhaps a little small for a long stay. The roof top seating is an excellent feature. The atrium and overall decor as well as historic information was great.
Good location and quiet. bedding could get an upgrade
Their customer services, is very clean, and knowing how old the building is it history i would go back
Loved this place. It was quiet, peaceful, and friendly. Importantly, it is close to Columbus Square and many, many historic sites. There's a grocery store about a 1 minute walk away, as well as several artisan shops and restaurants about a 5 minute walk away. You really couldn't beat that! The bed was comfortable, the A/C was cold, the shower had very good pressure and hot water. We stayed in a second floor room that was just so cute. Would definitely recommend.
It is very beautiful and cozy
The hotel had a very cool, historical feel, but they didn’t come clean the room after the first day. There was construction going on early in the morning.
Beautiful hotel and helpful reception
Hotel was beautiful, room was comfortable and clean. The young man at the front desk helped us to arrange an early morning taxi to the airport. The rooftop terrace was also a nice spot to hang out. Our only negative was the night club around the corner had loud music well after midnight, so if you’re a light sleeper it might bother you. We were there on a Friday so may not be an issue during the week. Would still stay here again.
A Gem
What a lovely place, like stepping back several centuries, with the comfort of today. We loved our stay.
El Beaterio is charming property and the staff are very friendly. The location is safe and walkable to many restaurants, which is good because on-site dining is not available beyond breakfast. As other reviewers have said, the breakfast is really lacking. I have never been to a hotel that has so few options at breakfast. Unfortunately during my stay they ran out of pineapple several times because two guests took the entirety of that day's pineapple allowance for themselves. I did see another guest complain and the kitchen staff couldn't do anything about it. This is something management should review, as the lack of options at breakfast is a trend among feedback. The only beverage options at breakfast are juice (if they have it) and coffee. The kitchen staff are perfectly lovely and making the best of the limited options management has given them. The rooms are comfortable, though not ideal if you're keen on having a lot of natural light. I did like that I didn't have to use the AC in the 30C heat as the rooms keep cool. The shower had good water pressure and enough hot water for me to use. The hotel is very safe and you have to buzz to be let on the property, which added an extra layer of security. I appreciated that. Communication in arranging an airport transfer prior to my stay was excellent. Overall, I would recommend this to someone who doesn't need a pool or many options at breakfast and appreciates having security and a good location while in SD.
Excellent stay. Staff were all very friendly. Ver safe area and only a few short blocks El Conde, restaurants and many historical sites.
The staff was very friendly and the hotel is beautiful and quiet
Great location! Walking distance to the Calle Conde and historic spots in the city. Free breakfast but it’s the same thing everyday. Historical building but no pool, gym, etc. or other resort style amenities. Small rooms but the staff keep it clean. Staff is nice but the young receptionists need better customer service. The highlight were the kitchen staff during the week and “Daimas” a Haitian Receptionist that works 3 to 10 pm. Super friendly and helpful. Rooftop terrace is awesome!
Everything was great but I would recommend not taking room 1, the noise from the lobby and people constantly walking past was a lot.
This property is in a colonial building. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and spacious. Really intimate and small great for a good night's rest.
Great boutique and would recommend to anyone visiting.
The staff is awesome, thank you to everyone. Clean, comfortable and well ventilated rooms with a lot of natural light. Delicious 😋 breakfast. Very quiet neighborhood. 5 minutes walk to all the historical places. All the building is extremely beautiful.
Bed was comfortable and bathroom were ok. Floors were old stone but very dirty. Feet were black just from walking around. Did not receive an upgrade, there was nicer newer upgrades rooms across from us that we were never offered. Had to make sure rooms were ready still at 500pm? We were told not to park on the street because of security; so had to park in a public lot 2 blocks away and walk to get car at 400am to get to airport. Had to make special areangements w parking co as they are not normally open by then. Risking whether they would really be there to open and the fact that we might get robbed walking there at those hours. As there were many many ?? people hanging out in park during that hour which was scary. Probably won’t return back to that location. Liked the historical district though. Breakfast was ok nothing over the top! Staff was friendly.
Great location, cute space, excellent choice
Overall a great stay. The whole building was lovely and the room well-appointed. The stone cut down on noise. The bed was fairly comfortable (two twins pushed together to form a king). The staff members were friendly though I never met the owners or saw consistent staff from day to day. The breakfast was decent though nothing too special—eggs made to order and then a spread with fruit, cereal, one type of cheese, etc. The location was great—easy to get to all the spots in the colonial area quickly and on foot. I would definitely stay again if back in the area.
Good place!
Although I showed them my VIP gold status they changed me for a 45 minutes later check out .
It was a very pleasant accommodation, I love the historical vibe. Very friendly staff, this place is so my vibe. Returning that’s for sure 🇩🇴♥️
The hotel is coniently located in walking distance to most sites of attration. Its clean and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was delicious. I will recoment this stablishment.
I absolutely loved this hotel I will definitely go back
Family oriented or and solo travelers
The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Breakfast was great! Overall great! Amazing view form the top! Lots of history Very walkable
Staff were great and super friendly and helpful
Relaxing historic quiet hotel
I like staying here and have the last four times ive stayed. The location is very safe snd relaxing across from a plaza in the centro histórico and very walkable with tons of restaurants near by the hotel serves a breakfast with eggs cooked to order and i enjoy it very much. The staff is very nice with a creole touch. There is a rooftop sitting area. There is no pool nor do i require one but have on occasion gone to nicolas de ovando nearby and enjoyed the pool pool bar and had lunch in a french sophisticated environment. The hotel is very historic though small having been part of an old convent. And the living room lobby is very nice to sit in if you dont want to be in your room
El Beaterio is the perfect location for visiting Santo Domingo, an easy walking distance for all sites in the colonial area including access to the sea. It is so quiet, a refuge from the din of the city. There is a lovely rooftop to hang out on. The breakfast was lovely. Highly recommended!!!
Parking total Chaos
The hotel staff was amazing. The parking was horrendous and needs to be corrected. There was no parking within a two block radius when we arrived.
Nice hotel in Old City. Walkable and restaurants all over. Room were nice, clean and comfortable. Our room was a bit noisy during the night, so if you have light sleep ask for a room on the 2nd floor.
Wonderful boutique hotel. Good breakfast. Excelent location.
Very old museum hotel with nice rustic courtyard and walking distance from Colon Plaza
Nice, great location and confortable
Excellent
This place is absolutely gorgeous. It is a museum and everything inside is a beautiful antique.
Overall the stay was fair. I was annoyed at the beginning due to the hard time I had finding the place. The staff was not able to offer proper direction, they weren’t able to send me their location either which would have made my life much better. Although, this trip had a rough beginning. The staff was very sweet and helpful. I wish I would’ve been able to give the cleaning and breakfast staff more tip, they were absolutely wonderful. The ambiance of the hotel was also very comfortable and home-like which I enjoyed. Thank you for everything.
If you lone a classic and antique type of environment, this is your place. Now, plumbing should be updated. They always have the front door closed, hence you need to ring the bell every time you wanna go in. That’s uncomfortable. The Haitian staff is nice but the communication is challenging
Charming, great location, and wonderful staff.
Excelente atención al cliente. Súper céntrico de todo. Muy linda y única decoración. Nos la pasamos muy bien. Gracias.
The place is very charming. I personally liked.
Quaint and cute villa style rooms in the heart of Zona Colonial! The staff are EXCELLENT. They were patient with my Spanish, helpful, and knowledgeable about the area. In this sector, you have access to great shops, restaurant, and Dominican culture (including nightlife.)
Accueil chaleureux, cadre familial. Nous avons apprécié la propreté, la gentillesse. Personnel très serviable. Nous nous sommes sentis en toute sécurité. Le guest-house est très bien situé. nous y retournerons.
Pretty good place with lots of history but be careful if you book a place for one person they charge you double the price I thought I was kinda cheeky when I was asked to swipe my credit card again. Normal hotels have a flat price for a second person. One bed can fit one or two people. Do you really need to charge double? Come on
Just book it its perfect
a truly incredible place, an amazing structure, amazing room in a perfect location, end your search & just book
The building has sooo much histrory. It’s relaxing quite super close to everything and very secure. The staff are amazing and very helpful. They would help us order food off their phone. Will definitely be back once curfew is lifted.
Great location. A lot to do nearby, all walking distance. Eating, drinking, shopping, tattoos, piercing, hair, etc., etc., etc. Great staff, delicious breakfast. Very quiet for a good night's sleep.
Excellent location and service No parking and no electric power for 1 hr
This establishment is located in an ideal area. Great for site seeing because it is at the center of many interesting sites. Our room was clean with fresh linens and all bathroom amenities. The only downside to our room was that there is no room refrigerator. If you find an employee they would gladly provide you ice if needed. My dissatisfaction were few but the reason why I did not give the place a perfect rating. When we arrived after ringing the bell a number of times a young lady appeared. I am unsure if she spoke Spanish or English for that matter because we exchanged little to no words. She took my ID and disappeared, eventually returned with my ID and walked us to our room. She disappeared before I could get a word in. We did not see her again until we returned from outside but she would open the door and disappear again. Our room TV was not working and we could not report it because we didn't know where the staff disappeared to. The hotel lost electricity twice during our stay. Not for long but again we felt like we were deserted in this large hotel without staff in sight. The second night without electricity we met Rosemary, I think that was her name. She was much more comforting and took her time to apologize and explain to us the situation. We found out that there was a problem with the cable company in the area besides the issue they were having with the generator. The morning Breakfast staff was lovely. Very timely, friendly and attentive. Kudos to them!
The hotel is an original building with a Museum, I felt like I was in another world...there is a lot of history, beautiful rooms, courtyard patio and food was delicious! Will ckme back for sure!!
I am very disappointed with this hotel. I have stayed here several times over the past 3 years.
Historic, Charming, and Absolutely Perfect!
Our stay was wonderful! The hotel was beautiful and filled with so much history! It was located right in the heart of the colonial zone so everything was in walking distance and felt safe. The bed was very comfortable which was perfect after a long day of travel and the terrace was perfect for sitting and enjoying a glass (or in our case a bottle) of wine! The staff was also so sweet and accommodating. They had plenty of recommendations for what to see, where to eat, and where to pick up things we needed. We also had a very early flight on the day we were leaving and the staff was kind enough to arrange a taxi for us and were there when we checked out to make sure it went smoothly. I would highly recommend this wonderful hotel to anyone looking to stay in Santo Domingo.
Great place to stay
Staff was great. Location was great. Room was great. You'll love it.
Very nice place and great location. Good breakfast.
Wonderful little hotel full of character. This is in one of the oldest buildings in the city and is very well situated to explore Zona Colonial. Rooms are not big, but the beds are and very comfortable. Bathrooms are also small but well appointed. Always love to stay here.
They were having power issues while we were there.
Beautifully decorated and appointed with details including the history of this place. Perfect location to explore the colonial center. Excellent breakfast with fresh fruit and eggs a la carte included. Very helpful staff.
I really enjoyed my stay! I will stay here again ❤️😁
Provides a unique experience - old monastery well maintained. Good location, good service and lots of charm.
Perfect for my needs, close to the sites I wanted to visit.
Amazing Boutique hotel
Absolutely loved everything about this place. I will only stay here when I am in Santo Domingo
Great hotel in the heart of the colonial zone
The property is an old nunnery converted into a very cute boutique hotel. And my AC worked quite well! I really enjoyed this stay.
