It was good for a quick stay. Upon arrival the front desk male worker strode behind the desk on his phone (as I can see him in the mirror) for a few minutes then I rang the bell and he came up. We get checked in and get into the room where the tub has hair all over, the beds have hair, and the room was set to 56°. The toilet ended up breaking. The tvs have about 8 channels and none for children. Poole as nice but VERY chlorine-y. Literally burned our eyes for hours. So like I said, good for a quick stay but would recommend elsewhere if you have kids.
Hotel clean, staff nice and good breakfast
Great stay.
It was a nice place to stay.
Carpet was damp, smelled musty
Everything
I think my card was declined because air got a new one. It might have been nice if someone to tell me you needed the new numbers.
Near shopping and Lake
well worth the stay!
Staff was really nice and they loved our dog we will be back next spring!
It was nice. We had a bad experience due do to other guests that were fighting in the hallway outside of our room and they had a dog that barked excessively. The police had to be called and we were kept awake until after 1am.
Recommend
Location: close to dunes. Breakfast: hot items, fruit, English muffins, bagels included. (Nice seating area). Bed/ pillows: comfy. Staff helpful and nice!
It’s just a hotel. Nothing special nothing terrible. Your getting what you pay for
Was a great place to stay. Nothing really around for food, but was still an amazing place to stay. Would definitely recommend for a family. My kids loved the pool.
Friendly, clean, large room
Room smelled like dirty ashtray, was dirty,-food along edge of bed on floor, burn marks and light out in Bathrm, cobwebs in window, breakfast was not appealing, way overpriced and there wasn’t even a elevator. Nothing near to eat after 9 pm but McD. 419$ for 2 nights would’ve been better somewhere else!
Terrible Hotel
Terrible night stay. I had to sleep with the lights on! Spiders! The guy at the front counter was very nice, he came to our room twice to kill them. The manager was very rude.
I don’t feel like I got my money’s worth at this property. Property is old and dirty. Carpet needs shampoo and breakfast was not great. Had to switch rooms in the middle of the night due to bathroom issues.
Some of the facility was old.
Quiet rooms. Staff friendly and helpful. We had a really nice stay.
The property was in a safe area off the main road in the town of Hart. The staff was friendly and very accomodating. The hotel was clean and the pool was relaxing. Nice free breakfast also. We will stay again. Thank you.
Pros Was quiet. Convenient and staff was nice. Cons Was dated, pets are aloud, rooms were filthy. And when I mean filthy there was a piece of hamburger under the bed, hair in the bed, dog food in the corners and my baby found an empty sport drink bottle under the desk. Shower was dirty. If I knew pets stayed in these rooms I would have not stayed here. Sneezing like crazy.
The beds were comfortable, and the pillows were really comfortable, and the staff was really accommodating and helpful. It was quiet and wasn’t woke up by neighbors as the hotel was full. It had breakfast in the morning, which was really good and it was close to the sand dunes…About a five minute drive Great stay!
Nice staff, safe, quiet, convenient access to nearby attractions, etc
Surprised there was no elevator-couldn't do stairs. Staff was extremely nice and accommodating and moved our reservation. Breakfast was so-so. Saw a couple of ants in our bathroom.
Pool not open till 10. Checkout at 11, not enough time to bother. Cords fall back out of outlets. No exaust fan in bathroom, so it fogs all up. No mirror in second bedroom to get ready. Vending machines not working, ice machine leaking all along front of machines. A whole 4 tissues in tissue box, not enough towels.
Room was clean and spacious as i booked a suite with 1 king and separate queen bedroom however living area did not accommodate 3.
Good
Poor service
It wasnt bad the first day but the second day was horible. We where awaken(1130 pm) by guest above our room. Thier kids was playing soccer in the room. We went to the front desk and complained, we went to the front desk and complained again. Finally we went to the room where the noise was coming from and asked them to stop. Next morning , 545am went to get coffee, no coffee. 615 they finally put out fresh coffee. This all happened an the evening of Aug. 2nd and into the morning of Aug 3rd. Very poor service from this individual working.
We’ll be back!
Thanks for the Pleasant stay
Hotel room was poorly cleaned and maintained. There was a thick film of dust on most surfaces. When I cleaned surfaces (remote, door knobs, phone, etc.) with a sanitizing wipe, the wipe was brown. There was a continuous, loud high pitched noise coming from the bathroom plumbing. When room was checked by house keeping everyday, toilet paper and facial tissues were not refilled.
No elevator..... It was a pain to go up and down the stairs 5 times a day.
Nice and clean.
The towels were folded with hair in the them and bedding had stains. The carpet had a smell and the tub was filthy as well as the shower curtain. The only positive is it was 12 mins away from silver lake.
4th July week
Some staff went over and beyond (When our room key would not work, they accommodated us on the busiest day of the year and had another room made up for us). While others just seemed angry and was of no help, wanted to check in couple hours early due to rain and they was not even busy and she's Like Check in is at 3 with a snotty voice.
It was a great location right off of the expressway, easy access to get in and out. There were a few glitches. The Jets didn’t work on the hot tub, some of the lights were out in the hot tub and the pool area, the room smelled like chlorine, the employees were not very informative when asked about things to do in the area, on the brighter side there is a nice breakfast with different options and they change a couple things every day or two. There is also a nice bike trail or walking trail paved right behind the hotel.
Very clean with a great pool for the whole family. The free beakfast was delicious. Would definitely stay here again! We stayed during the 4th of July and this hotel is located far enough away from the busy-ness of town to not cause stress with noise or traffic, but close enough that the drive isn't a burden. WONDERFUL STAY
Liked that hotel was basically next to the bike trail
To make things overall; I wouldn’t stay there again. Property was clean. We had a room on the first floor. Immediately when we went in the room the smell of humidity/moldy smell hits you in the face. The carpeted a wet feeling. Shower heads need to be changed. At night something was clicking every 5 min and was very annoying. Carpet must be changed. And breakfast was zero stars. We ended up checking out a night early than planned cause we didn’t get a good night sleep
Customer service was good
Nice room!
Housekeeping didn’t come and get our trash or give us clean towels. The room was clean and the breakfast was good.
Nice and clean
Our room was very clean and the hotel and surrounding area were very quiet.
First time here for the Jeep Invasion and worked out great!
Well kept outside. Bathroom and tub could use some work. Shower head old and weak. Beds clean and room tidy. Great location to dunes. Staff helpful and pleasant. Would stay again
Found numerous flies on the window in our room, there was a water or other liquid stain on the night table, and hair and a dirt stain on the bedspread which indicates the room wasn’t properly cleaned, even though a note was left by housekeeping. Next room smelled like it has just been smoked in. Third room was clean enough and because we were staying with other family members we decided to stay. But honestly, I considered sleeping in my car. No compensation for the inconvenience and complete disregard was offered.
Property was better than I expected. Pool and hot tub facilities were very nice. My only complaint is our room smelled like wet dog and had dog hair on the carpet. Otherwise, good experience.
Nice family, pet friendly place.
Good area.
Beds need to be upgraded. Pool and hot tub were great. Front desk staff were only available if you rang the bell to get them then quickly went back around the corner as if we were interrupting them.
Love it!
Always a pleasure!!
The hot tub wasn't working and someone pooped in the pool so they closed it early. That kind of ruined our stay as rhat was the whole reason we got a room there. But everything else was fantastic as always.
A Gem!
What a great place. The check in was quick and pleasant. The room was spotless. Great cable TV. The breakfast was excellent. This is my new go to place in Hart. Thanks Dunes!!
Needs updated but clean
Better than I expected
The property is lovely - clean, welcoming and good service. the breakfast was well stocked and very clean and orderly.
Quick and easy drive to Silver Lake Sand Dunes
Convenient, Clean & Comfortable Hotel
This is our se cons time staying at Dunes Express Inn while visiting the dunes and area from Ohio with our off-road machine. This hotel is conveniently located, clean and very comfortable. We were attending a side-by-side event at Silverback Raceway. There was plenty of parking for our truck & trailer (along with many others that were attending the same event.) Breakfast is convenient and sufficient. Will definable stay here again on our next trip to the dunes.
The bathroom could have been cleaner. Disappointed in the bathroom.
Great helpful staff Property very run down Pool area dirty Stairway carpet filthy Over all condition of property very run down
Service was slow
Gross
Mold in the bathroom, beds never got made, dirty carpet. The place was gross!
Good stay
Everything was great no complaints.
Stayed in room 106, no exhaust fan and looked like mold on ceiling above shower. Had to ask for sheets to be changed, there was sand and hair when the sheet got turned back. A very nice girl came and changed them, she very apologetic and kind. Overall have never had an issue, enjoy staying there. Front desk is always helpful! Would still go back and stay. Everyone has an off day.
Worst stay ever
The place was definitely not clean. Stairway, hallway and room floors dirty. Stairway was not vacuumed once. Bathroom was not clean. Smelled horrible of chlorine. Bathroom hinges were rusted. No vent fans in bathroom. Beds were clean but horribly uncomfortable. Not a pleasant stay.
The steps to the upstairs were filthy. There was dogfood all over them for both days I was there. The room smelled awful like they sprayed a ton of air freshener in there to make it seem clean. It's conveniently located which is the only reason I stayed there. When I arrived someone was complaining about the toilet overflowing...
Location and pool are nice. Outdated rooms and smelled like a smoking room. Overpriced.
The staff was friendly and the room was just fine. Really our only issue with the room, which we were made aware of at check-in, was that our room smelled of chlorine because the balcony was over the pool area. It didn't bother us that much, but if we had more sensitive noses it definitely wouldn't have been great.
Awesome huge pool.
Great convenient place to stay to enjoy the dunes. Close to dinning options. Nice pool area.
Hotel is very clean, room is spacious, bed is comfy and overall very clean. We travelled with 15 months baby and we like how our room qas clean. Front desk was really nice and welcoming. Will definitely be back here if we travel again to the Dunes.
This was very close to where my son was
The room was dirty, so moldy I was sick.
pool good, rooms gross
The pool and breakfast room/lobby was good. The rooms were gross. Dirty, chipped toilet seats, wet/humid, and smelled terrible. There are no vents in the room, just grates screwed to the wall to look like vents.
Had a decent stay
Had a decent stay. I have been stay here when I go to silver lake for the past 3 years and I wish they would put exhaust fans in the bathrooms. This stay the microwave didn’t work in our room
was very expensive but an old not so great place
We went to ride the Hart-Montague Bike Trail and found that the hotel had a connector right out the back door. Very convenient. Nice area to stay and easy to get to Ludington, Pentwater, Silver Lake, etc. Definitely would stay here again!
I am aware of this being a small town; however, we’re paying big city prices for the rooms. Certain things are expected. The staff wasn’t friendly at all. The carpet in the hallway is disgusting. It needs to be replaced. The lock to my room did not work. The TV channel lineup was horrible. The TVs are way too small. The windows open, but my window screen had huge holes in it. A small animal could definitely fit through one of the holes. The beds were clean.
Lots of parking for trailer
Hotel carpet including lobby stairs, rooms, walkways extremely stained & filthy. Had to move rooms filthy!!!becabhroom was g
Great stay, nice room and convenient location. Pet friendly for our dog. All was great until some smaller barking dogs arrived our last night and broke the rules ;). Anyway, the only thing that would have made it better is to have the towels and bathroom supplies in the room replaced/replenished each day. We had to go to the front desk to request some. That said the staff quickly filled the request.
Our overall experience was good. There were some cleanliness issues though. We had two used bars of soap in our shower upon arrival, and hallway carpets were in desperate need of deep cleaning. Continental breakfast was disappointing, waffles and cereal were edible though. The pool and hot tub were nice. Would probably stay here again, as it was one of the more affordable options in the area.
All is good and beautiful
Convenient and clean but needs some upgrades
The location was ideal for our needs. The room was plenty big and the bathroom updating was a plus. The staff was friendly. The biggest complaint is that there is no fan in the bathroom. Not only does not having one create a ton of steam in the room, but a fan is really helpful creating some privacy when using the bathroom...as well as solving some other issues. The bathroom's door hinges were rusted because there's no ventilation. Also, the room is very dated. I read other reviews where people complained about the rooms looking tired and I can see why. It's pretty barebones. A tiny TV, no artwork (even the ugly kind), the furniture is outdated, and the wallpaper was old and literally splitting at the seams. The little table and single chair they had was by an outlet that was too big to allow a plug to stay inserted. It repeatedly fell out. I moved to another outlet and it was barely any better. And the freestanding lamp had a burned out lightbulb (and one was also out in the bathroom). The last thing that should definitely be added is a sheer curtain on the window. All our room had was the heavy curtains. If you pull them open you see the parking lot. It wasn't possible to get any natural light into the room without everyone seeing right in. That made my girls and I very uncomfortable. Every hotel I've been in that costs $250 a night has had decent window coverings.
Our room had a balcony attached to the indoor pool. The smell of chlorine was so over powering it made our eyes water. The pool area was also very noisy. I am not sure what the hours were but kids were in late and then again very early. The fan in the room was very loud and kicked off and on approx every 20-30 min all night. Without it on the room would have been suffocating. The pool towels were the smallest, threadbare, scratchy towels I’ve seen. I would’ve been embarrassed to give them to guests. Also they don’t tell you when checking in that the pool towels are kept at the desk. So once you get to the pool you have to go back to the front desk and wait in line for towels. The bathroom amenities were also very cheap. The soap doesn’t even lather. Kids were running up and down the hall yelling late at night, and again halls were very noisy early in the morning. Overall it was like a hotel I’d expect to pay $60/night for not $208. The staff was nice, which was really the only bright spot. And don’t even consider the breakfast. I am not sure how much of that was included in the room price but you’d be much better off doing away with the free breakfast. It was completely void of anything nutritious, noisy and overcrowded. The man working in there was nice and trying his best to keep up but it was an impossible task for 1 person. Water dispenser in the lobby was a nice touch. However, it was empty on check in and check out. Overall very disappointing stay.
Was good
I would rate this place a 2.5 out of 5. It’s a place to stay, shower and cool down. Some upgrades had been made, but a new sink and vanity light doesn’t cover up the poor installation of the sink and bath faucet. It also doesn’t explain why the floors were so dirty and spiderwebs were in the corners of the bathroom. I had to wear shoes in the room, the floor turned my white socks nasty brown. The tv worked sometimes. Apparently their service provider was not providing adequate service. The breakfast bar was okay, but the choices were limited. I would suggest not eating the gravy or the eggs. Both were terrible. Get there early to avoid the counter looking like the hyenas had a go at it first. Tried out the pool at 9pm, it was normal hotel chlorine overload. We swam in the dark - no lights could be turned on. The exit doors did not lock for magnetic entry only. So anybody could enter after hours or during normal hours without staff knowledge. After returning to our room in the early evening the trash and towel fairies had come and gone. But the people responsible for making the bed, vacuuming and doing general clean-up had failed to do their part. We will not stay here again. It was not worth the $$$ we paid.
Our stay
The stay was nice, bc pizza is close n convienet for dinner, big pool. Staff was nice, decent breakfast.
The hotel rooms had no hot water or water pressure. After complaints numerous times there was no resolve. The rooms had no working TV and the nonsmoking rooms smelled like smoke. Poor quality hotel and have been staying here for a few years. It’s getting bad.
Not Great
We were never able to enjoy the breakfast. Food was either gone or picked over. Ignored when asked to refill the eggs. The room and the water smelled. Had to throw away a washcloth. It appeared to have a blood on it.
I killed a roach before I went to sleep and saw one as I was showering. The smoke alarm’s battery was dead/low so it continued to beep for its replacement battery ALL NIGHT!
Nice hotel, helpful staff. Enjoyed our stay.
Old. Moldy stinky
Close to the DUNES and Hart Taco Place
Wry nice enjoyed pool and breakfast!
Pool is large. Staff is friendly
Convenient to what I was looking for and very close to the highway. very spacious as well .
We had a balcony room which we believe made the room very warm. We had to run the air conditioning the whole time. It made it tolerable and we were able to sleep. If you have kids and want to be able to watch them in the pool, the balcony is great. If not, I'd get a room across the hall. There are no elevators, so if that bothers you I would request a room on the first floor.
no elevator Ridiculous TV like inch and channels not even reguar Networks Place is dirty and badly needs updating
The pool was very nice. The breakfast was okay.
