The staff where delightful . Professional helpful and very kind . Nothing was too much trouble especially Ashley was particularly good and deserves a special mention. Thank you
Great hotel with super friendly and helpful staff
Recommend for a stay at the Waterfront
Everything was great. If you’re looking for a waterfront stay, definitely recommend the place. The pool is shared with the nearby hotels so gets quite busy during the afternoons. Special thanks to Donovan and the rest of the staff who made our stay wonderful!
Very good apart from Television in room not working despite numerous reports to hotel.. very helpful when our flight back to uk was delayed, allowing us to keep room on.
Amazing Service
Very amazing and friendly staff. They went out of their way to assist with all issues, including challenges with a theft of one of our mobile phones, which they volunteered to assist! Every request was promptly managed from in-room dining to opening wine. Accommodation was also provide for late checkout. The room was also comfortable and clean.
They hotel is absolutely amazing. Comfortable rooms. Food is great and a great view from the garden.
Brilliant boutique in cape town
Lovely small hotel with excellent staff and beautiful rooms
Excellent hotel
Beautiful boutique property in the perfect location. Beautiful amenities and lovely staff
Just WOW.
Incredible views of the V&A Waterfront from this meticulously maintained historic building. Welcome and service during our stay bordered on embarrassingly posh. Fantastic bed made you not want to get out of it despite the excellent location. Possibly the best place we have stayed at in every category.
WOW from start to finish.
From arrival to departure was perfect. Nothing was too much trouble for Jeanette, Cynthia and the whole team. They made us feel very welcome and the service was natural and not forced in any way. The location couldn’t be any better as it’s a very short stroll away from the many restaurants and shops on the V&A waterfront. I would highly recommend the Dock House.
Honeymoon Stay
Fantastic stay at this perfectly located hotel. All the staff were very friendly and could not have been more helpful if they tried. The breakfast options were brilliant. You have a choice of 3 different hotels to eat in so you can vary your options should you fancy a change. The hotel was very clean and the rooms were very comfortable. The location on the waterfront was perfect. Would definelty stay here again.
Unique ist surely the position and the fact that it is a very small hotel which means cosy. What I did not like is the fact that they put the 50ZAR donation per day already on the final bill without telling in advance, although I understand that it was my decisione if I liked to pay it or not. I also thought that there was almost to much staff around the breakfast table at times.
Great hotel and staff.
Really lovely hotel. Only hotel we're returned to twice as we really enjoy it. Boutique, centrally located right in the heart of the waterfront. This can make it slight noisy but usally music stops at midnight. Saying this, we love sitting on the balcony absorbing the atmosphere. Staff couldn't do more for you. Decor we love.
Excellent location, Friendly staff.
Just what I needed. Close to all the important tourist locations in thecity, very friendly staff.
Excellent service! Great location. Very unique hotel.
Disappointing
Dock house was disappointing given the reviews. Itemized concerns: a) initial room we were shown was basically on the main lawn where people were doing yoga and could see into the room. b) The view is not high enough to be great (even from top floor), given other options for views in Cape Town c) The plumbing in our room was gross (shower drain spit up, toilet leaked), d) we found a massive cockroach in the room, e) it's really hard to find (we spent 30 minutes looking for it and was very stressful, not accurate on Google). This also made it tough to get ubers. f) The Waterfront is super-toursity and there are way better places to stay in Cape Town.
Excellent stay. Very personalized service. Staff is exceptional and goes above and beyond. Beautiful rooms in a historic home.
Perfect
Perfect
Special place to stay in Cape Town
We absolutely loved everything about Dock House. Fantastic location. We were lucky to stay in the suite and everything was perfect! The history of the building makes your stay even more special. Just one thing to know.......if you book on Hotels.com/Expedia please make sure you contact the hotel directly and confirm your booking with them. Get confirmation from the hotel. We booked 3 rooms months in advance for a trip of a lifetime for ourselves and 2 other couples. Upon arrival we were told only one room came through on the reservation, even though I had confirmation through hotels.com on all 3 rooms. Our friends were given rooms at their sister hotel near by The Queen Victoria. Everything turned out fine but was very disappointing on arrival. So just be aware! And by no means am I knocking Dock House, it's wonderful and the staff could not have been better but something happened to our reservation. I've used Hotels.com for years and this was a first.
Lovely hotel, right next to waterfront,
Great service, friendly staff even with our toddler in tow, perfect location & amazing breakfast
Amazing start to our honeymoon
We stayed with the Dock House for the start of our honeymoon. I travel a lot, and this is definitely one of the nicest places I've ever stayed in - it's beautifully decorated in a sort of modern/Victorian fusion style, and is extremely luxurious. The staff are quite attentive - there are only six rooms, but there's an army of people who will work to make sure your stay is amazing. They all knew our names and remembered our preferences at breakfast after the first morning. When we arrived we had a really nice surprise with a romantic turn down, complimentary sparkling wine, and rose petals throughout the room. Every day the staff gave us a different romantic turn down. The hotel is extremely well located. It's literally in the middle of everything you would want to do as a tourist in Cape Town. It is in a gated area with security everywhere - it is extremely safe. The start of the hop-on/hop-off is across the road from the hotel. In addition we were able to do day trips from the hotel to the Stellenbosch, Boulders Beach, and the Cape of Good Hope.
character and charm right on the waterfront
If you are looking for a hotel with character, charm and comfort next to the waterfront, this is it. The service is fantastic, the gardens and pool like an oasis of tranquillity. Our room was simply fabulous with huge separate bathroom, a balcony overlooking the waterfront. Breakfast was freshly prepared, not a bain marie in sight. The staff are so helpful and friendly. We had a change of plan at very short notice due to the Blue Train cancelling on the day,and the hotel was just wonderful. We would definitely stay here again.
Best Boutique Hotel with Best Manger Ever!
We spent a wonderful 6 nights here to start our tour of S Africa. Craig was the best service manager/concierge/all around service provider we have ever experienced. Our every need was anticipated and graciously provided for - staff was superb in every way. Had fantastic couples massage and therapy time at the Spa and the best meal we had in S Africa at Dash (in sister hotel Queen Victoria) - recommend Dock House as one of the best boutique hotels around! You won't be disappointed!
Could not fault it!!
Could not fault it!!
Beautiful, personal and conveniently located.
A lovely hotel, with a personal feel. Feels like a home away from home. Comfortable and luxurious without being extravagant. LARGE rooms with beautiful views over the waterfront. Delicious food! A delectable menu with some inspired local tastes.
A lil piece of Heaven
After a 24 hour flight, I could not have been happier to rest my head in this beautiful hotel. The hospitality from the entire team when I arrived onsite could not have been better. I would stay here again when I come back to Cape Town.
Great stay
Wonderful stay with excellent staff - thanks to Craig, George, Nicholas and Raymond! You were amazing. The wardrobe doors in room 3 are loose.
Intimate, luxury boutique hotel with lots of character
We really enjoyed this little boutique hotel. The breakfasts were delicious and the pool area was good too. Staff efficient and friendly. Our room was very comfortable but I think the verandah area should be cleaned every day. Loved the huge bathroom. The position of the hotel is very convenient. We will stay here again
Loved this hotel
Excellent breakfast, great hotel, excellent staff. Safe location. Aircon slightly noisy / angle of attack slightly obtrusive. Overall great place to stay would definitely stay again.
Nice but not the best
We chose to stay at the Dock House for the one night we were in Cape Town as it was my birthday and we thought we'd treat ourselves. The house is very comfortable but the rooms are actually suites with a separate sitting room. If you were like us and have travelled in on the overnight flight for the very reason you can drop your bags off and explore Cape Town itches room rate could be considered excessive. Lovely ambience, ideal location and staff incredibly friendly but not the blow away experience I was expecting.
This hotel had change mycstandard of excellence
Ones you get settle, you feel like you have arrived at your rich uncle's house that has give you Justine (the manager) and Peter our guardian Angel, to make you feel at heaven because everything is been taken care off. Everything is perfect !!! It is a treat that everybody should have, at least once in a life time.
Great Weekend Getaway
If you are looking for great 5 star accommodation and service and are willing to pay for it, look no further than the Dockhouse Boutique Hotel. The Service and Hotel are truly 5 star. Great location and view, divine cheffy food and exceptional service.
Attentive staff and well cared for historic site
The building is the former harbour master's residence. It is close to but overlooks the V&A Harbour. The staff clearly love the boutique hotel and are very attentive to the needs of their guests. Welcoming fruit and champagne and a nightly baked treat at bedside are examples. Breakfasts were served in the dining room by efficient friendly staff. The inside is state of the art modern without spoiling the charm of the hotel. If you get a balcony you can enjoy the sea breeze but the back garden is relaxing day or night. I would definitely recommend it to friends and stay there next time.
A wonderful place to stay
I cannot recommend The Dock House enough. Fantastic and personal service and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are marvellous (would suggest you try to get 505 or 504 which have balconies) and more than equal to any 5 star hotels I have stayed in.
First Rate
The rooms were tastefully appointed and very large. We had a comfortable balcony with a view over the V&A waterfront. The bathroom was enormous. Service was friendly and professional. Everyone went out of their way to be helpful. We can't recommend this hotel highly enough.
Relaxed Atmosphere in Centre of City
From the moment we arrived this hotel proved to be something special. Wonderful staff who are friendly and attentive. The room was excellent with a large balcony from which we had a great view of the waterfront. The gardens and pool are tranquil despite the close proximity of the waterfront shops and restaurants. I have stayed in other 5 star hotels in Cape Town but this was the best for me
Fantastic Location
Great location but slightly disappointed given previous reviews
Excellent Hotel and Location
We loved the Dock House Boutique Hotel! We stayed there at the end of our honeymoon and it was an ideal location to explore Cape Town for the two short days we had. The staff was beyond accommodating, flexible and helpful, and the breakfast was delicoius! Our room was enormous, clean, beautiful and so well appointed! We considered staying at a name brand hotel (One & Only, etc), but we're so glad we chose the Dock House. I highly recommend it! Thank you to the staff for making our stay so great!!
Boutique gem at V&A waterfront
This gem of a boutique hotel exceeded our expectations in every way.The location is fantastic - perched just above the V&A waterfront with a private gate off the back lawn leading directly to the centre of the waterfront action. The staff were relaxed and friendly, and couldnt do enough for us in terms of booking drivers for day trips, suggesting and booking restaurants, and giving advice on different wineries / sights. Kelly, in particular, was an angel. The rooms are, quite simply, MASSIVE. Beautifully appointed, clearly only just renovated, and with a homely touch that is still very chic. The bathroom was almost as big as the room, with the biggest bath I've soaked in in a long time, huge separate shower with marble feature wall, double basin sink and great range of local products. The room we had, #5 upstrais, opened on to a private balcony with great views over the waterfront and the ocean behind that. A la carte breakfast was downstairs in a lovely intimate dining room, with fresh fruit and pastries and a good selection of hot mains. We stayed 4 nights, and when we come back to Cape Town wouldnt stay anywhere else. Thanks again Kelly and the team.
Exceptional
Exceeded our expectations. Exceptional quality and service and we loved our stay. The Dockhouse was perfectly located being perched on top of a small hill overlooking the V&A Waterfront. We couldn't have asked for more.
Lovely boutique hotel in great location!
Fabulous hotel in a great location in Cape Town, within easy walking distance of the waterside which has lots of bars and restaurants. The rooms are spacious and immaculately decorated and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Great hotel for everyone
A beautiful hotel in the most ideal location. We stayed bed and breakfast and had the option of having breakfast at the other sister hotels which were all within a minutes walk. A great place that has to be experienced
Couldn't have asked for more
My wife and I absolutely fell in love with this place. We're seasoned traveler's and stay in very nice hotel's much of the time. But the Dock House was a extra special in it's tranquility, colonial charm and attentiveness of the staff. I couldn't recommend this place highly enough.
The Gem of the Waterfront
A lovely, quiet, exceptionally clean small boutique hotel with extremely friendly and helpful staff, situated in a perfect position on the Waterfront, tucked away from the hustle and bustle.
Great Hotel Great Location
The Dock House is an oasis adjoining the busy Waterfront area of Cape Town. A handful of rooms each each beautifully presented and personal service to match. Nothing is too much trouble to organize. Guests can use the facilities of the two nearby sister hotels. Literally a few steps away from the Waterfront Complex - over 80 great restaurants and less than 10 minutes walk to the Robben Island ferry. Look out onto Table Mountain whilst enjoying your G&T by the pool.
Wonderful stay. Really.
My wife and I stayed at the Dock House for five nights during a recent trip to Cape Town. The level of service offered by the staff and management exceeds anything I have expereinced during my personal and business trips, this includes stays at numerous high-end luxury chains (InterContinental, RC, 4S and local boutiques). I was also impressed by the size and quality of rooms. I found the location great and also enjoyed the creative and quality breakfast menu. Wonderful stay. Thanks!!
Just Perfect.
Selecting Dock House as the base for our Cape Town stay proved to be a great decision. The room itself (suite #1) was absolutely stunning.... with the beautifully appointed bedroom, living room/office, bathrrom, hallway and patio; it felt like a luxury apartment. Dock House itself is in a prime location looking down upon the waterfront district, yet it maintains a very intimate B&B feel. Last and most importnatly, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. I will definitely stay at Dock House again if I return to Cape Town.
2 day layover
After traveling 40 hrours to get to Cape Town, it was a wonderful hotel to rest and recuperate before starting a 2 week safari.
Back of house outside outside below the room. Staff very loud at 06:00
