Nice enough, with minor issues
I enjoyed staying in this historic property and only have a couple of complaints. I find the $21/day parking charge when all you have is an outside parking lot rather annoying. A pillow became soiled and the cleaning staff did not replace the pillowcase we had removed, and just left the bare pillow on the floor. The vending machines were out of order on at least three floors. It just stuns me why vending companies fail to keep their machines functional, and also why a hotel wouldn't have someone checking to make sure they are servicing them. In addition, the small alcove where the vending machine on our floor (fifth) smelled of urine, but might just have been mold from leaks on the floor beneath the ice machine. Other than that.....
I love this hotel. I’m definitely going back in the future.
Lovely hotel. Great staff
The gentleman that served us in the bar was excellent . Couldn’t ask for better service 😊
At arrival, the boardwalk going to the door very slippery. Snow not shovelled, they just drop salt on it creating a dangerous slushy and slippery boardwalk. Front desk clerk very concern and insisting about car registration plate number. Room located on the 3rd floor. In the bath tub something looking like black small dead bugs visibles: around the water drain, blue/purple colour stain visible too. Obviously the bath tub needs to be change. When you have a bad day already, it’s not a good time for that king of disagrement. Otherwise, working employees friendly and helpful.
Disappointed
Not enough parking
All good
Great place to stay
Great
Bar was good
It was just ok. Nothing about this stay was memorable. Rooms were just ok. Service was just ok.
Pretty good, greeter was a little bit rude
Overall this was a good stay. Few things, there was a breast cancer event so the elevators were quite full as we were trying to navigate from the pool back to our room. So that was a bit frustrating. During the event we were walking around semi wet, while wearing swim clothes the greeter at the front door came off quite rude as if we are not allowed to walk around. We were going to take the stairs to our room but our room card was dead due to it being near a phone. (something that should be upgraded). There was only 1 vegan option for breakfast and 1 vegan option (which wasn’t available) for dinner. That was a bummer as we wanted to have room service. My advice is that, despite there being an event it would be nice to be treated a bit better from the front lobby greeter and that there should be alternative ways to get to your room when there’s such a crowd. Lastly, adding more food options for those with allergies/restrictions would be great. Despite all of this, we would come back again. The beds were comfortable, pool and hot tub were great and the guests who were staying were all fairly friendly.
Very welcoming and friendly staff. The server, Dina in the dining rooms was exceptional and very friendly! Highly recommend a stay here!
All good
The hotel was amazing. Staff was excellent!
excellent location, historic building. Care must be taken to maintain the building, better air flow, regular upkeep and maintenance is urgently needed. Spend some $$ in the cosmetic upkeep and the property will maintain its unique beauty.
I think they should put alarm clocks in the rooms
Great historical hotel
The door was shaking to our room all night, had the thermos set and it seemed to run all night also even though it was extremely cold.
Every thing was excellent except for the areas closed off in front of the hotel's front sidewalk. Repairs are necessary though.
Great location
Classic.
Very pretty
Attended George Thorogood concert in the gardens. You can’t get more convenient than that.
The cars racing up and down nearby streets past the midnight hour.
not really satisfied. limited supplies(coffee,cups,etc.)
Great hotel in excellent lication
This is a historic building, the staff were very helpful and hopefully Delta will restore and refresh some of the interiors soon.
Historic building
Cool place to stay, but the hotel is quite dated and needing some updating. Pool was also closed, which was disappointing.
Great location. Fridge dod not work so flad we had acooler.
We really enjoyed our stay!
Found it noisy. Room was near elevator, and every time elevator arrived a loud ding was sounded. Even in the middle of the night. There were lights over each elevator door for the hearing impaired. Why they try to wake up their guests at night is beyond me.
Amazing experience, always wanted to stay at this location.
We always enjoy our stay at the hotel. It is close to the river and great restaurants.
I stayed here for a wedding and had a wonderful experience
Beautiful hotel! Would gladly stay here again. Staff went above and beyond.
It feels like you are staying in a castle
Quiet, good food options, scenic.
Our stay started off a bit rocky. I received a text message that our room was ready, and I called to see if I could have an early check in. The staff was friendly and confirmed that the queen room was ready for us. We checked in and we walked to our room the cleaning staff had just started cleaning the room and it was 2 double beds. We went back downstairs and let them know that that room wasn’t correct as it had two double beds instead of a queen and it wasn’t cleaned yet. The front staff apologized and found us a new room. We walked into the new room and it smelled like someone had just smoked a pack of cigarettes in it. I went back down, complaining about the smell and asked for yet another room. I know this hotel is older but the smell was so strong and I would not be able to stay there— it was gross. The front staff apologized profusely and took care of our parking and pet fee as a way to apologize, which was appreciated. The next room we obtained keys to was great. It was clean, didn’t smell and the front staff called to be sure the room was suitable. Even though it started off rocky, the staff did a great job in accommodating us and as a result I will be a repeat customer.
Everything was excellent but the toilet flushing is brutal on the fifth floor. Could use some help
Beautiful old hotel in the middle of Saskatoon. Room was clean, spacious and comfy. Parking was easy but could've had better security.
We could not access the coffee pot or much of the closet due to it being locked. Room #238
Very nice, people were kind
ZZZZZZZZZ
The best sleep in a long while. Amazing mattress. Great overall stay. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Great location. Lots of parking.
We booked for 3 of us to stay for our mom’s 90th birthday. Due to contacting COVID only our son was able to make the trip. Only 1 of 3 of us in the booked room. I was unable to cancel or even get a price reduction (40$ up charge for a 3rd person in the room). My son also stated his key cards kept not working requiring a trip to the front desk every time.
I was in town for the Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan festival and Canada Day festivities and the hotels location right on the river was convenient to both. The building is lovely with an old world charm and ambiance. My room was clean and spacious with a wonderful view.
Very nice hotel. Staff at reception were exceptionally helpful and friendly. They had bicycles that guests could take out, which was appreciated.
Beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting. Staff were great, room quiet, clean and comfortable. The only suggestion we have is to put a sign in parking area for hotel guests giving clear instructions that they shouldn’t pay at the meter. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
Great hotel and location
Nice building, cool atmosphere, clean pool area and rooms. Very friendly accommodating staff. The building itself is a bit worse for wear, and outdated but it’s a very classic look so not disappointed overall
Great hotel and staff. Hotels.com not so good.
The hotel was fantastic! The staff were amazing. Had an issue on the second day. My Father called and said my Mothers cancer had returned so i had to leave a day earlier too which the front desk were very helpful and canceled my room even gave me a follow up call. On the other hand ive been unable to contact hotels.com for a refund so im not sure i would recommend hotels.com and not sure i will use them again.
Pretty good
Air conditioning unit was incredibly loud. But room was nice and clean and hotel staff were very friendly.
Parking is $21 extra, breakfast is $40 extra, no safe in room, coffee is gross. Coffee pot and coffee station doesn’t have a plug in next to it. You have to move the coffee station across the room to another table that reaches a plug in.
Everything was amazing specially the executive chef was kind enough to come out and meet my wife to discuss a soup recipe. Wonderful service from the chef and utmost hospitable staff
Architecture, history
2nd excellent stay at this hotel and will stay again!
The fan in our room did not go off all night blowing constant heat and ruining the entire experience. Also only one towel in the room. Definitely not worth the premium for staying in this hotel
It's character and history are the charms of the building. Very clean and great parking options.
So many food and beverage options near by.
Booked a room with two queen beds, original room had two doubles and had a handicap bathroom, second room had a stench and a view of the roof. Third room was acceptable but still only had double beds. We did all the room moving on our own, no bellhop came to help. We had to order a cot as three people wouldn’t fit into two queen beds and the woman who brought it was very rude.
Cold water for shower
We love this hotel. One disappointing thing was the garden being closed. We always visit in the summer so unsure if this is always a practice for winter, but we were disappointed.
Just a stunning hotel ! Friendly service, clean!
Quiet. Easy check in. Beautiful comfortable rooms. Overall great stay!
This is becoming a very rundown property. Not worth the money at all
Beautiful hotel. Understand it’s getting renovated in the future but great for staycation in the city. My sister and I do this a couple times a year and it’s perfect. They always add such nice touches! A little plate of desserts to thank us for staying and nothing like the “castle” in Saskatoon. We accidentally got placed in a room that wasn’t ready but the hotel immediately made it better with phone call and comped our change to a river view. Great service!
Old school classic hotel from 100 years ago.
Comfort
Best hotel for a good sleep. The rooms are quiet, with no noise filtering in from the other rooms or hallway and the beds are extremely comfortable. Add that to the charm of the old architecture and it makes for a great stay.
Overall good & beautiful hotel. Only issue we were charged for parking and were not told we had to pay for parking in advance.
An iconic hotel property on the prairies. The property is beginning to age since its last reno. But the ammeneties on the property are first class. The pool, hot tub, gym are excellent. The restaurant decor is dated but the quality if the fiod and selection is excellent. The staff and friendly and highly attentive.
I really dislike being forced to write comments. This section should be voluntarily On future reviews i will just not bother
staff was kind and friendly
The Delta Bessborough has always been our favourite hotel. This historic property is so special and one feels very special to just be here. The staff are all so amazing and go above and beyond to ensure guests have an exceptional stay. Thank you!
The staff are excellent and friendly. I hsce acressibilty issues and theyvwere very helpful. The King size River View Room 422 was a nicely appointed, large room, but the bed was too soft for my back issues. There was a river view in room 422, technically, but it is a very limited view in a very small single windiw with a bright spotlight shining up directly into the window, which erased the evening river view completely. The hotel has other rooms with a much better river view experience.
It was a nice place
Beautiful place!
Beautiful hotel
The hotel was perfect! The location was great!

Hotel had invaluable historic qualities and the architecture was breathtaking.
This is a historic & beautiful hotel in downtown Saskatoon. Its location is perfect if you want to be walking distance to several different bars & restaurants to explore. There is parking on either side of the hotel ($20 per night), and you register your vehicle with the front desk. The staff is friendly & always willing to help. The pool, sauna, hot-tub, and fitness center are really nice! They are bright, spacious, and clean. The decor & architecture of the hotel is really beautiful. Some things are vintage in a cool/unique way (like the tile in the bathroom floor) but some things are just old and need to be updated (like our bathroom door didn't close all the way due to the wood swelling over the years ... and the wallpaper had some stains etc). But they were minor things in the overall stay. The room has a fridge, coffee maker, iron, TV, hairdryer - all the basics you would need. The views from the rooms are either downtown or the river, and either way, it's a nice scene to see. We got breakfast included in our booking (through expedia), and it was phenomenal! I highly recommend the breakfast court restaurant on the mezzanine level. We had the peanut butter jelly waffles & saskatoon berry pancakes and were blown away. The service at the restaurant was incredible, too. They do have room service that you can order the breakfast items for as well. There is a lounge/bar restaurant in the lobby of the hotel and several ballrooms & meeting rooms throughout.
Well i was kinda let down about the view. Last 2 times i stayed there. Was poor view
We stayed at the end of September. The heat to the rooms had not been turned on. We had to get a portable heater and extra blanket. The staff was very prompt with this service request. Note: Parking is available at 18.00 a day!
The property was beautiful.
The property was great, the staff were awesome but we paid for parking, and there was no parking available… that was super crappy and by the Time we found a spot in the street near by, it was a few city blocks away. Would stay again but parking was still crap
Beautiful old hotel
The Perfect Saskatoon Hotel Choice
The hotel is in the most convenient location if you are interested in exploring Saskatoon. It couldn't be more perfectly placed. The hotel itself is easy to locate even from quite a distance by line of sight. It was classy the day they finished constructing this magnificent building and it still is today. All over Saskatoon, like many places in Canada, you will be surrounded by very respectful people. Right out the door of this hotel, are endless beautiful walking paths that must be explored. Gems in every direction. We only checked out yesterday and I already long to someday go back. Couldn't more highly recommend this hotel.
comfortable.
Always a comfortable stay!
Staff very friendly and room clean and comfortable Would stay here again
I like historical buildings, and the view and location of the Bessborough is fantastic!
Good restaurants.
Everything was great. Thank you
The staff was super friendly and helpful!
The Blue Rodeo concert was behind the hotel
Have stayed here before and is our favorite pllace to stay
Fantastic stay
Fantastic service in a beautiful hotel in a prime location. Could not have asked for a better place to spend a few days in Saskatoon

This grand property which was once a delight and a privilege to stay and dine at feels very, unfortunately, tired. The rooms need an update, the garden cafe food is outstanding, but the restaurant desperately needs renovations and a refresh. The areas around the pool and the change rooms aren’t clean and feel like a run down YMCA, not a 4 star hotel. I miss the grand nature of this hotel (and I especially miss the Samurai restaurant).
