Beautiful wildlife eco tourism facility. Many trails and opportunities right there to view the OSA Peninsula biodiversity. Meals were fabulous. We stayed in their one concrete “hobbit house” like facility which was Charming but lacked good sir circulation to cool down for sleeping despite 2 fans.

The staff especially Maria was fantastic and so is the dog Maya. Maya will even go for a hike with you if you pet her and show a little attention. The trails on the property are expansive and beautiful. My son Maya and me went on a three mile hike and was still on property grounds. The bird viewing tower is an excellent place to see dawn and dusk when the tropical birds are most active.

Awesome find

We loved, loved, loved this place. The room was fantastic and having an open air bathroom was such an unusual treat. We got to see monkeys from our porch as well as many other creatures on the night tour. The food was also fantastic. If we lived closer we would certainly visit again.

A truly Costa Rican experience of living in nature. Individual bungalows that open to nature along walks thru the rainforest. Dark skies at night to stargaze. Monkeys in their habitat in the trees, butterflies and a tower in the canopy to birdwatch. Good food options and an attentive bilingual staff. If you want an air conditioned resort this is NOT the place for you, but if you want to experience the sounds and sights of the rainforest at an affordable cost in a designed environment with curated art…GO!

While being close to a village and road, the property gives feel of total wilderness. Property is vast with great trails, views and fauna right on site. We wereable to see howler monkeys, lizzards, frogs, snakes, vultures, otters and family of Caimans whie walking the trails. Each cottage is unique. Took us one day to get comfortabe with concept of no walls/locks but after that truly liked everything about it. It takes you as close to nature as possible while providing all modern fascilities. Cafeteria has limited but very good options for all.

Beautiful lodge and area

We had an amazing stay at Danta Corcovado! The staff and service are friendly and helpful. The restaurant and cooks are fantastic, and the lodging is clean and comfortable. They have many trails to hike and explore, and every day we saw new types of animals. The tours offered by the hotel are well worth it and I highly recommend doing as many as possible. I plan on telling all my friends to visit this stunning lodge if possible and hope to visit again someday!

Just outside our room we saw squirrel monkeys up close and via one of their canopy points several toucans from afar on a less traveled point. Truly embraced the countries slogan pura vida.

A lot to offer

Danta is many things : very eco conscious, sophisticated and relaxed. It's goal is, I think, to introduce visitors to one of the world's great tropicsl rainforests. The acco..odation is made from local wood. And of course it is a delight to see toucans before breakfast and monkeys before bedtime.

Great experience for 2-3 nights

Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay. We are a family of 4 with 2 boys ages 12 and 10. The lodge and screen walled cabins provide a nice setting with wonderful creatures and sounds all around. The tours were very good. We did a kayak tour from the gulf beach into a mangrove canal and saw sea turtles, birds, monkeys, and a sloth. The tractor tour into Corcodavo was nice where the highlight for us was toucans. The guide Luiz is very knowledgeable about birds and plants. The drinks and meals were really great. The shower is big and great. Cameras on the front porch and back of cabin add a layer of security. The strong Wifi, lockbox, hammock, and refrigerator were all appreciated. Some caveats: 1) Orientation: The park is “raw.” There isn’t a huge infrastructure of information centers and easy-to-find guides. You must have a local accredited ICT guide. 2) Tours: I was hoping to see mammals including tapirs and anteaters. It’s “the crown jewel” of CR’s national park system so I had my hopes up a little higher. 3) Lock-in: due to distance you are essentially “locked in” to the lodge for tours and meals. 4) Mostly only rain forest sounds: one cabin had small children crying one night. 5) Beds: two double-beds not great for the back and smaller than a queen. 6) Eco-lodge? This place runs on regular government supplied water and electricity. 7) Value: all in for lodging, drinks, meals, great service, parking, and 2 tours, we paid about $475/night for a family of four.

This property was Amazing! Our stay exceeded our expectations. First is the location; located in the jungle, a very unassuming area until you drive up to the enterance. There you see the check in area and to the right is where meals are served. We arrived approx. 11pm, Merlin, the owner met us at our car, grabbed our bags and led us up through the jungle path to our bungalow. He told us to check in the next morning. The Room: 2 queen beds with crisp sheets artfully made. Open the back patio to a small portion of a river which surrounded our bungalow on 3 sides. Constant sounds and sights that entertained us for hours. The resident Cayman (alligator), turtles, snake, lizards that run on top of the water, countless birds must toname afew of our neighbors. 2 custom carved chairs to sit on or a lazy hammock available to use while taking in the sites. Our Bungalow had an amazing path with moss on the sides with bushes and trees flanking the sides. The path led to the meal area or to paths around the property. Breakfast was included. No muffins and juice, the choices include fresh fruit plate, fresh made fruit juice which was different every day. Then I had the omlet made to order with traditional beans and rice. A real treat was fried yucca. Now I'm hooked. There were other breakfast options but i stayed with the omlet because it was so good. Activities: we took a very long hike around the property which included new jungle and old growth jungle.

Good service and good food

Nice lodge with good service by the restaurant staff Carlos and Angel. Very good food and I like the idea they only provide 2 options for dinner. The bungalows appear to be on the new side. The lodge is difficult to find as there are no signs along the highway as there are for other eco lodges. Best Eco-Lodge Experience

We were very excited to stay at Danta Lodge because we had read that they had trails you could hike yourself and see wildlife. When we arrived,we were blown away by how much terrain we could explore, and that they had a tower we could go up to look over the forest. The first day we saw 2 sloths, squirrel monkeys and iguanas! Over the next few days we spent hours each day scoping out wildlife and taking in the fauna. Our accommodation was a lodge that looked like a hobbit house,it was incredible! The bathroom had such great detail, and was half outdoors ( attached to room, but had a secure bug proof door) The sounds of nature were so serene, as was the creek flowing through the guest area. We weren't sure if we would stay at the lodge for all of our meals, but after our complimentary breakfast the first morning,we were hooked. They offered a couple different options for each meal that you choose ahead of time. Some of the best food we have ever eaten, and left each meal stuffed! The cocktails they offer are also of the highest quality. We found the staff to be so impressive with their attention to detail and kindness. We greatly enjoyed our 3 nights at Danta and are missing it already! Can't recommend enough!

We had a fantastic stay. The lodge sits on the edge of rainforest and has its own set of great hiking trails and a nice canopy tower surrounded by a butterfly garden- a great spot for birdwatching. There is farmland next door so you are not in deep jungle but you would never know once you are on the property. We did not have any issues with biting insects. The staff was very inviting and helpful with recommendations for activities, they seem to truly care about the region and want you to experience the best parts of it. We were there with 2 small children (4&6) and they were in heaven. Macaws and Toucans are regular visitors we could see from our outdoor bathroom. A sloth and a squirrel monkey troup were in the same tree over the lodge at one point. Breakfast is great each day- we only ate one dinner there but had a wonderful meal. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Fantastic experience of the forest.

The lodge is beautifully designed, open plan, wooden construction, cottages set in the forest open to the sights and sounds. The food is lovely. There are a range of public spaces and well made trails into primary forest giving several kilometres of walking. We saw frogs, leaf cutter ants, turtles, monkeys, butterflies, toucans, hummingbirds and much more. The staff are knowledgable. The lodge is owned and run by a family committed to protecting and restoring the forest and run the Lodge in a low impact way. Also, we are vegetarian and a special effort was made to prepare tasty food for us.

Amazing lodge

The lodge was beautiful and the workmanship of the construction and use of materials was remarkable and the staff were really helpful. We loved our room, it was huge, clean and well maintained and its the only time we've taken photos of a bathroom - it was so unique! . We sat on the balcony and watched the monkeys in the trees and listened to the birds. The trails on the property were good and there is a great viewing platform at the top of the hill. The food at the restaurant was the best of our holiday. The evening meal was 3 courses, we read reviews from others that it was expensive but for 3 courses we thought it was good value and it was the best tasting food we'd had on our entire trip. Choice is limited but quality is excellent as was the breakfast. One of our favourite places of our tour of Costa Rica. The area is amazing too - best wildlife you will find. We saw a large black cat cross the road on our way out (wild not domestic!).

One of our favorite overnights ever

Danta Corcovado Lodge is a magical experience. Eco-lodge rustic, but with incredibly thoughtful touches. A unique way to spend time in a rainforest setting and hike at your own pace, with very well maintained (somewhat strenuous) trails on the property. Great food at the restaurant. They take such good care of you from start to finish. The highlight of our two trips to Costa Rica. We will definitely be coming back.

First and foremost, the staff we dealt with at Danta (Jairo) was fantastic. A very warm welcome upon arrival with an unhurried pace. We had to leave for a tour the next morning at a very early hour, so Jairo arranged that breakfast would be set out and waiting for us by the night watchman. Nice touch! Breakfast was excellent both mornings. It was nice to have their own trail network close by, as we appreciated the chance to do a little walk after arriving at the lodge. We stayed in the "domed" room which, while being very creatively designed, was a bit on the warm side, especially during the day. The three large floor fans (and a relatively cooler night temperature) made sleeping bearable. Next time, we would like to try one of the other cabins further back in the forest, which looked to be more open and have more natural airflow.

AMAZING! This entire place is a work of art and attention is paid to every detail. Each guest cabin is an incredible work of art made with natural and local materials, like beautiful wood from the jungle. Even the light fixtures are artistically designed. The bathroom and shower blend in so well with nature you will think you are outside bathing under a waterfall. The food is 5 star - top notch and you wouldn't expect that in such a remote location. The owner even takes the time to play cool music while you are dining. Clean, artistic, earthy, beautiful and most of all completely unique. Worth the drive.
