The staff were very helpful at check-in but we did find it a little off putting to have the time share sales people 'accost' us as we made our way to the lifts to go to our room. They informed us it was the 2nd stage of checking in - which is simply not true! We politely declined being subjected to a sales pitch. Other than that, our stay was fantastic. I can recommend this property...and it was much quieter than where we had stayed previously in Midtown where traffic noise reached us even on the 17th floor.
Excellent. Still won't ever stay here again.
The property was great, staff were wonderful, my room was well appointed, the location is good. But thanks the ghastly interraction with a salesperson trying to harrass me into a buying a load of old touristy nonsense when all I wanted to do was get to my room after a long flight (and with heavy baggage), I will never stay here again. That lack of sensitivity from the salesbod has put me off ever going back - plenty of other options in NYC.
Large room at a good price for Manhattan
Club Wyndham is not really a hotel. I believe they are timeshares where rooms are rented. They offered to have us listen to a. Presentation but were not pushy when we said we couldn’t take the time. The rate was a good value and the front desk personnel couldn’t have been nicer and helpful. The rooms were very spacious for NYC. The location was good for us. I would recommend this place. One other thing, there was construction going on near by so there was quite a bit of loud noise near by so try to get a quiet room
The reason I gave four stars is because the staff at the front desk and the doorman were exceptional. However, after checking in, I went around the corner to get to the elevator and was blindsided by a woman trying to get me to schedule 90 minutes of my two day trip to listen to us timeshare pitch.. Even after explaining that I only had two days I still was pressured to try and schedule sometime. I spent 20 minutes there before I was able to get up to my room. In addition, there was no housekeeping I had to take my linens and my garbage out of the room each day and put it down the hall into an area for it to be collected.
Nice room, good location very near the UN building. Be warned, it is a timeshare so you'll run the gauntlet of timeshare sales people as you enter and leave. Not too pushy but annoying none the less. It's New York, so the car horns will be 24/7 but that's pretty unavoidable anywhere in Manhattan but if you've not been before, it can be an unfortunate surprise. Not unique to this hotel though. If you're prepared for the timeshare sales, it's a nice place to stay.
Harassed by Timeshare Salespeople our entire stay
With one other exception (a hotel across from the UN at 44th), the location of Club Wyndham simply cannot be beat if you are doing business at or near the U.N.. it is steps away from Grand Central. HOWEVER, beware of their extremely aggressive and frankly obnoxious marketing. This location is a property of Wyndham timeshare. So, our entire 4-day stay here we were constantly HOUNDED by the timeshare salesperson, who parked themselves downstairs in front of the only elevator. Every time we left or returned to our room, they would very aggressively corner us to see when we would have time for a 30-minute timeshare presentation. The hotel shares the contact information of its guests with any sham timeshares, so we would even receive aggressive phones calls after we left the hotel and were away in business meetings at the U.N. I felt amharrassed the entire time I was there. This type of aggressive timeshare marketing really should be illegal (especially the sharing of guests’ contact information). And clearly from a business and hospitality perspective, this type of aggressive salesmanship is not going to encourage hotel guests to return—certainly mot this one. Aside from the trauma feeling unsafe leaving and returning to my hotel room, the accommodations themselves were quite convenient. The public facilities are rather sparse, though I understand they are abiut to embark on a comprehensive upgrade.
Resort?
Great location. Nice sized rooms that are comfortable, but no housekeeping services provided even when we asked for clean towels and more coffee supplies. Also want to sell you a timeshare so you have to deal with that at check-in. Billing itself as a "resort" but not really a resort.
It was fine the room average but Gerin was amazing compassionate human being an angel on earth💙 Erica was great friendly helpful and kind
Our first time & we Love this place. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We had a beautiful room very spacious with good views. Loved everything about this place & my daughter loved the tv in the bathroom, made bath time more enjoyable! Definitely an added plus.
Very nice property but there are a couple of misleading things on the expedia listing. Firstly there is no pool like on the listing. And secondly they will try to pull you in to a timeshare presentation. Which you can obviously politely decline but it does take a little more time on check-in. The property itself was beautiful and the rooms were a great value. Overall I think it's worth the two quirks listed above (and you can even get some free stuff if you sit through the 2 hours!).
Offered disocunt on a diner that had clsoed down
Club Wyndham 45 Midtown NYC
I was extremely surprised to be pressured into attending a timeshare sales presentation.
Close to everything
Nice room, nice staff
Convenient to Grand Central, not too noisy by NYC standards. Neighborhood pretty dull but staff very nice. Hotel clean, good bed, lots of pillows.
Wonderful location and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The room was a great size (esp for NYC). Would stay here again!
for four days nobody cleaned the room. Had to call for towels or coffee. The internet did not work and i was given a phone number to contact. I heard a lot of things about my devices when it was obvious that it was a problem with the wifi. Lost more than one hour with this with no result. A terrible view of the room. Never again on this property.
Great location, clean and high quality accommodations, helpful staff
Very large rooms, comfortable bed and lots of pillows!
Once a beautiful boutique hotel, this is now a scammy “time share” from Wyndham. Disgusting and disappointed.
Very easy to walk to all and get in exercise. Staff were wonderful. Room comfortable and clean
Ann Park terrible experience
The security was terrible. I had an incident wirh someone staying there and they did nothing. Also i left a valuable coat befind and they said it wasnt there so someone stole it. I demand a full refund or you will be hearing from my lawyer..
Decent clean room. Fair price. But do not let them give you the pressured sales pitch for their timeshare. As you check in someone whisks you to the side and makes you think the pitch is part of the check in process. It is not! Then when you come and go some salesperson tries again to get you to listen to a 90 minute pitch to buy a timeshare. Oh, they promise you something. Also, everyone has their hand out for a tip. Bringing your bags in, getting you a cab, etc. But the room was reasonably nice and clean but very small. Expected for New York City.
Time share property - No thanks!
I would like to say this hotel is not the type to stay at if you want resort like amenities. They do not service your room and you are required to visit the front desk for any toiletries that are standard with a hotel stay. Visiting the front desk was unpleasant. The only time I felt like the staff was attentive was when I first arrived, but that is only because they really tried to sell me on a 90 minute time share meeting. I would have never stayed here if I was properly informed by hotels.com what I was getting myself into. Needless to say I didn’t agree to a time share pitch after that I became almost invisible. The ladies at the front desk had stand-off demeanors and not hospitable at all. Secondly, I ordered in food and some how they seem so inconvenienced by it and urged that I go get it outside the front door. Trust me there are so many other options in this area that could make your stay in NYC so much more comfortable. The slight discounted price is not worth your time here.
Timeshare request upon checkin
Check in was very hectic as someone was vacuuming while loud music was playing and were trying to talk thru glass with mask, but the worst part was we had to talk to a time share saleman trying to convince us to come to a presentation. We were so tired from traveling and walking all day so this 30 minute awkward conversation was not fun! Once we got in, the room was clean and comfyy, location was pretty good.
It was very convenient to my meetings across the street. The lobby was tiny but this is NYC. The front desk staff was very friendly, helpful, and attentive. They made up for the Covid protected surroundings.
Hotel is just ok. There are constant pressures, including phone calls, to attend a time share sessions even though my days were full of meetings and I had no time. The rooms were awfully hot and there was no way to lower the heat or open windows and promises that “engineer” would be up never materialized. Finally, check out time is 10 am but at that time, only one elevator worked and I could not get one until 10:40. By that time my Uber driver left without me and I missed my time to check in luggage, and I had to reschedule my flight at a cost of $350. Just no to this hotel.
Great stay! Central to great restaurants and transportation. Although this is a time share campus they were not too pushy. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting NYC for leisure and plan to stay again.
Amazing stay and amazing staff. It was my girlfriends birthday and they went above and beyond.
Excellent Hotel
Staff was very nice. Room was extremely clean. Beds were very comfortable. I would definitely stay here again. Nothing bad to say about it.
This Man deserves a raise!!
It was excellent!!! ELVIS TAVERAS IS AN ANGEL!!! My friend was having car troubles and he took it upon himself to fix the car key and try to start it for at least 30mins.
Business trip
Great business hote, friendly staff
Rooms were clean, as well as the hotel overall. The heating could be better.
Me & girl friend really enjoyed our visit there!!!!
The service was wonderful and they were happy to help with anything and everything! We were really excited to go to the top, but it was closed for an event. Great location!
It was great! The bed and pillows were super comfortable!
The hotel was satisfactory, the service was less the desired. If service is what expecting I’d stay elsewhere
Great staff, rooms clean Was not clear a ownership club.
Convenient location, big, clean rooms. overall very happy with the accomodations. It is a time share type property, so if you're not already a member they will try to get you to listen to a pitch but they weren't pushy about it.
The room was clean and bright. Just what I wanted and expected.
I don’t like to be solicited for a stay when I’m just trying to enjoy 1 night stay
No housekeeping as it is a time share property seems ridiculous as this seems like a standard hotel with standard hotel rooms
We enjoyed our stay, Yhe staff was great as well as the location. Beds are very comfy.
Only for very tall people
Sales pitch in the lobby before you can even get to your room. Everything in the kitchen (including the microwave) was too high up. Shower/tub difficult to access - almost dangerous. Why am I suddenly getting so many calls from Wyndham Resort time shares?????? Will not stay there again.
This property is an aggressive sales team that wants you to buy into time shares. They had me speak to a time share scheduling person to get the wifi for my stay as part of the check in process - very sneaky for when I'm checking in exhausted from traveling. They wouldn't even allow my elevator to go up as they were trying to close a sale with someone else that wasn't interested. The water took a good 10-15 minutes to heat up which really slowed down my mornings and there isn't any housekeeping. You will need to request towels/soaps etc.
Check in and out was quick and easy, staff very friendly and accomadating. Room was lovely and bed was very comfortable. Would definitely stay again!
Timeshare hotel
I booked on hotel.com and was surprised that we were bugged. It’s a timeshare hotel, heavy push to sit through timeshare presentation. Room was small. No daily in room service.
Convenient location and all went smoothly. It was a great trip.
Very nice and gorgeous view resort. Easy in and out location in midtown Manhattan.
The location was perfect. The rooftop lounge and outdoor terrace was ideal to just view the city and relax. Free laundry facilities was very nice when doing an extended holiday.
The hotel was great! Very convenient location. My only small issue was they offered us a free breakfast if we sat through a presentation for their rewards program. Sounds great and we would get two free nights at their hotel for our time. The only problem was they told us it would only be 90min and we had a bus to catch to return home. So we were lugging all of our bags with us. The presentation itself was only 90 min however then you sit with one of their sales people who will try anything to get you to buy. We were there for 2.5 hours and missed our bus by 15 min. Had to wait 5 hours in the port authority for the next one.
Wonderful room, great loca, excellent staff esp the valet/concierge.. Wasnt thrilled with the property mgmt pushing us to attend their timeshare pitch..
very good, but
amazing staff, and very nice hotel, perfect location at great price, but in 3 days we didnt have wi fi.
The New year that I did not get to see
Long story short , I was in NYC for new year ball drop at time square , the time it took me to get a room after booking from Expedia was so long . Basically the receptionist had me waiting for around 2 hrs , saying that I did not have the reservation!! Expedia help line personal were very helpful and nice , they talked to him and sent him the confirmation , only to find out that his manager is missing !! On the busiest time of the year , his manager was missing ! Horrible experience , and I was offered nothing to make it up , definitely my worse stay in NYC.
Welcoming and Accomodating
I showed up to the hotel with a ton of luggage and extremely overwhelmed as I was about to move to LA the next day. All the staff was extremely helpful and accommodating and took the time to wish me the best of luck in my move across the country. It meant a lot as they took it from a stressful day to very relaxing as soon as I got there.
Nice in the center of everything
Very clean staff was very pleasant and helpful petty much everything was around the area.
Great room, say no to the sales!
Great room for the price in NYC! kitchenette, attentive staff, and big room for NY. Downside, room could have been a little cleaner. Needed a detailed cleaning. Big problem is you can barely get into the hotel before being attacked by the timeshare sales staff to sign you up for a free breakfast and other gift. They tell you it will be a 1 hour presentation...takes 2-3 hours. I don't mind these things usually, but the lobby is small and they are way to aggressive at check-in. For the price and location, I was happy to be there for New Years Eve and day.
Location Location Location
Walking distance to Times Square. Close to Grand Central Station.
Holiday Fun
Very nice hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful. We were very close to all that we came to enjoy - Times Square theatre district, shopping. And, the weather was great!
Excellent hotel, spacious rooms, clean, reasonable price, friendly staff.
It was not a hotel it was a time share I paid & 400$ a night
Nice Hotel
New contemporary remodel, easy walk to Central Pk, easier walk to Grand Central.
Not a hotel
I stayed for two nights. After a long work day, I returned to my room on the second night to find that it had not been cleaned. When I complained to the hotel staff they told me this was not a hotel, rather it was a time-share facility, and they did not have maid service. If this had been clear on the Expedia site, I would have opted for another hotel. Very disappointing.
"We don't clean rooms or provide fresh towels"
According to the concierge/"help" desk, this is not a hotel. I discovered this when I complained that, after a long day, I arrived back to my room and discovered it had not been cleaned. The "help desk" told me it's their policy not to clean rooms, make beds or provide clean towels for the duration of the stay as The Wyndham on 45th St is a time share, not a hotel.
Good location , too pushy of sales team
Most staff was friendly but my check in process had to be scattered because I arrived in an early flight . Which I do understand but things were missed. I was not told check out was t 10:00 am . my room was not cleaned when I stated that I got some push back attitude back . With the 10 am check out on an Easter Sunday when asked what was the policy for staying a bit later ( we had tickets for mass at St Patricks at 10 :30 but had to be there by 10:00 ) very rudely was told $100 per hour of delay. SO russhing thru packing etc to leave and make it to that iconic mass was quite challenging. Oh and the pushing constantly to by timeshare was risiculous even after I told them I was not interested.
A timeshare, not a conventional hotel
The hotel was very convenient to the office. I loved this. But it is run down, very tired. Renovations are underway, but not in any part of the hotel I saw. The lounge they tout is rather small, but its veranda provides decent views from the 33rd (I think) floor.
Terrible Experience
Hotel needs to be renovated the rooms are really bad and dirty.
Inconspicuous hotel in convenient location.
This hotel was located on the east side of midtown, close to Grand Central Station and the United Nations Center. While the lobby was tiny, the room by New York standards was spacious. And there's a club room on the 33rd floor where guests can gather in groups in a room with a fireplace or on a balcony with a great view. My only complaint was that we booked it because it was an Expedia VIP hotel. When we have done this in the past, we have received some additional perk. This time the clerk didn't know what it was.
Wonderful hotel BUT the staff was simply amazing!
This was my first trip to NYC in 15 years! I was concerned about what to do and where to stay. I stumbled upon this gem of a hotel. We arrived late on a Friday night and the staff was so helpful and friendly. They didn't treat us like we were tourists, they treated us like we were everyday people. We had hot apple cider and coffee waiting on us upon our arrival. Thank you for making our short trip so wonderful. I will stay here for every trip to NYC now.
Good central location with the added bonus of a rooftop to take in the skyline. Great view of the Chrysler Building. Great staff.
Nice hotel, good location near several sites
Hotel was very nice and in a good location in Midtown. Hotel was near several sites within walking distance.
Very close to 42nd Street and 5th Avenue.
Very convenient place to stay. Can get to subway easily
Getaway
Great location, accommodating staff, nice view
good, not great
Did not appreciate the timeshare sales pitch upon arrival. There was machinery noise in the building that made the stay somewhat uncomfortable. Staff was friendly and attentive. The touchpad automated elevator created a lot of confusion. They really need to fix their lobby. There is not enough room for people to wait for the elevators, creating a line to get in the elevator. 3 slow elevators for 33 stories is not enough.
Great Value, extreamly helpful concierge
Terrace with amazing city views on 33rd Floor was a wonderful bonus
Good location but horrible conditions
Nothing but excuses the entire time of our stay. We were here for our honeymoon and couldn't even get towels. Someone came to the door at midnight asking if we requested a wine opener, which we hadn't but the real issue is when I didn't come to the door right away because we were asleep, they opened the door!!
Hotel room was damp and musty smelling. Yuck. Staff friendly. Internet connection process is a mes . Here for business. Won't stay again. If you book through a third party you get the crummiest rooms. Price savings wasn't worth i .
Nice Room in East Midtown
We enjoyed staying at the Wyndham. The rioom was clean, the bed was comfortable, and hotel had all the amenities, eg gym, fridge, roof top terrace. There are plenty of restaurants close by. We liked Parsy's. - great food, reasonable prices, good service You r only a few blocks from the UN and about a 20 minute walk from Times Square.
Hotel under renovation
The hotel will be very nice after completion of renovations but for time being loud and disorganized. Checkout time was particularly early at 10
I won't be back.
Although I received a decent price for this room (15% off Expedia promotion), the cost savings were definitely not worth it. It looked like they are trying to sell time shares in the lobby, although thankfully I did not get accosted for this as I made it pretty clear I was there for business. I understand that they are under construction (although I read this on Expedia - they never told me), but my room had broken fixtures in the bathroom, the furniture was worn, and the carpet was buckled. It was the kind of hotel room where you don't want to take your shoes off. The hotel staff was meh. They offered bagels at 10 am!?!?! Who is still in their hotel at 10 am?? Definitely not what I would expect for service or quality of accommodations from a Wyndham. I was also told by Expedia that I would receive a VIP+ benefit, but there was not mention of it during any part of my stay–unless the 10 am bagels were the benefit, but it appeared they were offering this to everyone and I suspect it was so they could do a timeshare pitch. I travel to NYC quite a bit for business, but I definitely won't be staying here again!
Very convenient location
33rd floor terrace was worth the price of the room - million dollar view and you can take food and drinks up at your convenience. Simply beautiful!
Not a good place to stay.
There were no hotel facilities: bar, restaurant, places to sit in the lobby. The hotel is in terrible condition. They are trying to renovate the place but very tacky. If we would have know the condition of hotel we would not have stayed there. The room was old and the furniture old and beat up, and lights falling off the wall. Just a place to sleep.
Nice hotel, glad I chose
Had my initial fears based on online reviews but it was a great experience
Good location
Under construction so bathroom on third floor no reception area to sit in no lobby
Wonderful view
Hotel is good with a wonderful view from the top floor deck. Well located near UN HQs made it perfect for me.
Disappointed overall
We stayed 5 nights, there was a thermostat...but it did nothing to change room temperature, too warm, all the time. Two nights we had to have wash cloths delivered to the room, housekeeping did not leave any. Floors were not mopped or vacuumed. We had left the iron out, it was still sitting out when we got back to the room. Slept okay on the bed. Hotel seemed more like an old Days Inn, than a Wyndham.
This is not a 4 star hotel
I paid 4* rates for what is at best a 3* experience in a great location. Everywhere on the internet it's rated as a 4, but when I spoke to the front desk staff about getting a bathrobe, the woman there said "oh this isn't a four star". I'm actually quite disappointed that Hotels.com advertises it as such. The bed and pillows weren't comfortable. I think the shower in 708 is set up for wheelchair accessibility? so it led to water all over the bathroom floor whenever used. The walls are thin, so a normal TV volume bothers the neighbours. The room is large by NYC standards, but it's not luxurious by any means so the extra space doesn't count for much. If you want a true 4* experience, stay elsewhere.
A Buggy Anniversary
Our stay wasn't very long. The reason for the visit was to celebrate my 4 year Anniversary. We were staying for 2 days. We didn't even make through the first night. We literally checked in around 6:45pm. We got ready and left at 8:00pm. We got back to the hotel around 12:30am. We started to settle in to watch TV before bed and my spouse noticed a reddish brown flat bug on the cloth headboard of the bed. I got a closer look and it was a BED BUG! So in the midst of finding one on the headboard. Then one decided to come out from the pillow, then some started coming from behind the headboard and down the headboard. We spotted a total of SIX bed bugs in less than 2 minutes. It is 1:30am and were packing our belongings. We captured one in a cup as evidence to show to the front desk. We got out of our room so fast and went to the lobby, the woman behind the desk was helpful. She gave us the director and managers business cards so that we could speak to them in the morning. Told us sorry, gave us another room and told us they had to follow some protocol along with an investigation. So that was okay. She offered Purel because of the captured bed bug we showed her. We didn't touch it with our hands so I found that unnecessary and a little rude but everyone has a germ preference I guess. We went to the other room but my spouse was still uncomfortable and didn't want to stay because the other room had the same cloth headboard. So she didn't want to take any chances. We left at 2:00am.
The hotel shower was not working,
I had to go to a dinner and want to take fast shower found out the shower was not working. I am disapointed very much hotel that cost so much that they do not do due diligence on the basics.
Good location
Staff was always friendly, but hotel condition is not the best, furniture is old and not cared for, lamps broken, service cart was always in the hall and some days the vacuum cleaner was also left in the hall the entire day. The hotel was recently made a vacation club, maybe this is the reason why if you are just a plain guest for a few daysthegput you in a not so nice room.
It's nice as expected
Great stay, it's nice and cozy. There are several things to do close-by and very clean. Recommended if you'd need a stay at NYC.
Clean but noisy heater
Heater kept us up but since we came to the room late after watching a show we didn't notice it right away until about 2 am. We thought it was noise from outside. We turned the heater off and finally slept.
Small room not as I expected Friendly staff Good location Poor hotel room
Convenient NYC location, just beginning renovation
Staff was not overly caring for guest experience. Sofa in room had stains and odors. Hotel is beginning renovations and is much need of this. Will review again in the future.
Don't stay here unless you only care about locatio
This is by far my worst experience using Expedia for a hotel reservation. It is NOT a 4 star hotel. I am not even sure it's a hotel. I think they are making it onto condos. The furniture in the room was dated and little better than particle board. The wood grain was worn from years of use. There was no clock in the room. No coffee maker. The bed was hard. The sheets were scratchy. The pillow was uncomfortable. The couch/futon thing had a mattress that was vinyl. The hallway was dark and narrow. There is no restaurant. The lobby was minuscule. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Shame on Expedia for recommending it!
Clean, polite, but substandard rooms
Everyone was extremely kind and helpful. And they're doing some renovations to the public areas but the rooms are unimpressive. A strangely small and awkwardly placed tv. A missing door on one of the closets. Furniture that has been scratched, dinged and in need of replacement of refinishing. A housekeeping cart that never leaves the hallway. Nothing that is individually terrible but when it all adds up, It falls below an average hotel experience. Again, NO complaint about the staff. They were all friendly and helpful.
not a good experience.
horribly hot in room. Heat was too high. never fixed. room was missing light bulbs. parts of furniture were broken. no maid service the day of a big storm. staff people walked into our room/ unrequested.
The hotel was under construction while we were there so it's hard to judge the facilities. The rooms were very small but that's not unexpected in NYC. The only real complaint I had, which is for all Wydham hotels, is the pitch you have to sit through upon checking for their vacation properties.
General
Only there a couple of nights. Did not know I was going to be timeshare accommodation. I really don't like that type of place hence my review
nothing to note
