Very convenient great communication, great staff.
Very convenient and great communication. Everything is made as easy as possible. Appreciated staying there.
Lovely stay.
Lovely guest house. Very clean and comfortable. Good value. Easy parking.
The host was very pleasant and asked if i needed anything just ask. Answered the phone and met me immediately. Would definitely stay again.
Friendly staff, great communication. Privacy. Above and beyond to help and make things as convenient as possible.
Very friendly and helpful. Respected privacy.
Clean, quiet and convenient, perfect location for the town, would definitely visit again
Very clean and tidy room, good facilities, incredibly good value for money.
Newcastle under Lyne
B&b was lovely the lady of the property was very helpful and friendly, it was close to where we was going to the theatre plus walking distance for us comfortable bed nice size room.
A nice compact en suite room.
Clean and fresh.
Very clean room and new fittings throughout. Steep stairs were the only downside. Very friendly and helpful host.
The bed was extremely uncomfortable. I’m six feet two inches tall - so not freakishly tall - but the stairs and room were quite difficult to navigate. The switch to activate the shower was hidden above the entrance to the bathroom. It was like a mini Escape Room challenge trying to find it!
Would not stay again
Would not stay again. Comfort wise, the mattress was rock hard, like sleeping on a table. Shower was mouldy and towels had blood on them. Tv had no signal.
Clayhanger
Stay here every time I am in the area. A great family-run business. Great value and a convenient location.
Really nice cosy place. The bed was way too hard though
Small guesthouse a short walk from the town centre. Small single ensuite room built into the attic space so limited head room in places. Good bed.
Clayhanger was as expected. Check in brilliant and early. Staff very friendly. Would stay again if visiting
Excellent
Kevin is very accessible and willing to help if you arrive late. The room was clean and basic, in a good way, with everything that I needed.
Nice and clean. Good low budget accommodation. Will use again.
The host was very nice! However, the hotel is extremely outdated. The beds and pillows were uncomfortable. Sheets on the beds were stiff and scratchy. One of the shared toilets (with the rest of the guests mind you) had a really bad odor of sewage. Just lacking.
Excellent
I booked the room at very short notice, the owner greated me within minutes and was so kind and showed me around. Nothing was too much, it was very clean and had everything i needed
A gem of a hotel
Really friendly and helpful welcome, immaculate room and premises with lots of amenities and a handy location for the town centre as well. Never before have I been in such a well kept and looked after hotel and puts the big chains to shame!
Short stop. Single room. Cheap. Bathroom across the hall. Very clean. Nice shower
Really helpful friendly staff
Perfect for a short stay.
Good value guest house in great location with a friendly welcome. Car parking and good in room facilities. Great for a short stay.
We always cone to the Clayhanger if we are going to stay in the potteries. It was wonderful to be welcomed by Elaine, who did a great job. I shall be sending a donation towards her mini market project in the post once we get home as i didnt have any change. The room was lovely and extremely clean. We have previously stay twice and the rooms are very well maintained and have everything you need. We have previously had our own bathroom, but we opted for a shared bathroom and toliet. This is where I have a slight issue, as the toliet has no outlet it does have a very strong smell, although as I said before, it was very clean. The bathroom really just needs a bit of TLC, the sealant really needs replacing, I wasnt too phased, but I know other people who would be horrified at the black mold all around the bottom of the shower. Its just off putting really. I didnt complain because we had opted for a shared bathroom. The parking is very good at the back of the hotel and they ensure you can park by putting out cones and barrels. We didnt have breakfast, before breakfast was included, my partner previously had srambled egg as this was the only choice. It is now £5 per person, I dont think that is a bad price and I am assuming it is now chargeable due to the cost of living. I am sure we will stay again at some point, it is very good value afterall.
Kevin and his family could not do more to make our stay enjoyable. Amazing service and value. What a find!
Good price, very clean and comfy. Also, very close to the town centre
Very practical one night stopover with work. Bed comfortable. Although a shared bathroom you wouldnt have known. I had the run of the house but it wasnt required on this occasion.
I felt that furnishings could have been a bit more updated.
The inside of the property was clean, staff were very helpful and friendly, but it was a little dated, the door to the bedroom didn't close easily which meant banging it every time you left or entered the room, disturbing other guests. Being on a main busy road was noisy too.
Value
Good value for money
Perfect for my needs
Lovely clean place , perfect for the business traveller
Nice clean place ,pleasing stay
Definitely coming back
Perfect Slumber
Another great stay in a super room. It’s not a hotel and is a guest house but at the top end. Immaculately clean and very spacious (twin rm 7) and will be rerurning.
Great value stay
Room as described and very clean. For the price, it was just what I needed.
Very welcoming and informative proprietor...... everything explained.
Didn’t get to stay in room booked
Room at Clayhanger under renovation (only told this when I arrived) so was offered room in isuites over the road. Bland but functional
Great Guest House for economy.
Pit stop visit when travelling from Liverpool back to Berkshire. Host was pleasant. Room was clean. We were only there from 7.30-8PM and 11-6 AM. And it did the trick. Sadly the fridge in the room made a loud whirring noise that kept me awake for a lot of the night.
Was disappointed tbh and will not stay here again, felt it very dated and shabby, headboard on bed had material torn off it too
Amazing staff who go the extra mile to look after you. Rooms are always clean and at a good price
We stayed here for work. This place is just a short walk from the local wetherspoons & shops. Free parking out front or round the back.
Clean & Friendly
Best short stay
Always amazing
Ok, not great
Very narrow beds, mould around window sills, remote control needs to be cleaned.
One night stay was ok
Service very good as I miss read mg booking and was able to upgrade from shared bathroom to on suite for £10. Room was a good size but cold had to put electric fan heaters on. Heating came on in middle of night and was very hot. TV reception was very poor only a couple of channels worked. Bathroom needs decorating no hooks towel shelf rusty and heated towel radiator very small and only on late at night.
Staff, food and property was very good.
Cosy
Great little b&b lovely clean room everything you need in there . Kevin is great .Needs a little updating some noisy residents in the place . Noisy road. .
The staff were very welcoming and helpful.
Recommend
Decent sized room with coffee/tea facilities. perfect for a short overnight stay
Good value
Basic room but very clean and good value for money
Very Good.
Great location. Room very clean. Very good breakfast. Host friendly and helpful. Highly Recommended.
Had a good stay room was very clean bed comfortable plenty of coffee and tea and a small fridge only gripe was reception off the tv but I would definitely stay here again
Lovley little guest house close to town centre although a little dated was great value for money
Lovely, comfortable stay
Looks a bit dated from the outside but room was clean and comfortable with everything you needed. Check in lady was very pleasant and Kevin was very helpful in directing us to restaurants. 5 min walk to restaurants/pub and thoroughly recommend the Arch Chinese restaurant!!! Would definitely stay again.
Stopped overnight before catching a coach up to the airport, Will different stop there again
1 night stay on business
Very good stay, well placed for my business trip. Good service and well kept room.
Excellent value for money. Good location for public transport and no frills accommodation. Nice people.
Ideal for travel in and around Staffordshire
A very friendly, family run guest house. My room was clean and warm. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast of scrambled eggs on toast was excellent and set you up for the day ahead. There are regular, direct buses to Stoke station; so travel to other parts of Staffordshire and the Midlands is very easy to do from the guest house. A good short break!
Good
Very friendly staff and comfortable room
One night stay
Very helpful and friendly staff, hotel is basic but clean. Room was clean and had good WiFi connectivity. Free breakfast was great and a very good location.
Family stay
Lovely staff, but a little dated. In need of modernization
Friendly and welcoming family business
Very small rooms
The room was very small and so were the shared bathrooms. My room was set up to sleep 2. Not sure how that was supposed to work.
Hadn't stayed since pre Covid.New management but as good as ever.
Great staff
The owner staff were brilliant very welcoming and when there was an issue quick to react and solve the problem Great stay
Who you book with
Just be mindful about who you book with! When booking direct continental breakfast is included whereas it isn’t always with HDC!
I really enjoyed my stay, it was friendly and welcoming, beautifully clean and had everything we needed. I would stay again. Unfortunately the family room we were staying in suffered from damp, the bedding itself felt damp after a while, and the mould in the ensuite suggests it's a persistent problem. It didn't personally upset me, but it detracted from an otherwise perfect stay.
Michael
Very welcoming, very quiet, very good
Friendly staff and excellent rooms
I have mobility issues, sò stairs can be a big problem to me. I was given a ground floor room with my car parked right in front of my window.
Great bed & breakfast. Family run, very friendly & hsppy to make sure ypu have a great stay. Continental breakfast & can have eggs / toast. Would recommend.
Great management and team
Always enjoy staying here. Well run and welcoming family run guest house.
Bed comfortable
Staff lovely - bed comforable Room shabby and old - premier inn and the likes much better very noisy
Great place to stay
The place was very clean and offered things such as hot chocolate, tea, coffee, milk (in those small plastic cups), and a fridge to store things. Kevin who works there was also amazing. Check in is up until 9pm but we couldn’t arrive until closer to 10pm and Kevin arranged to stay later for us. He also showed us to our room and explained where to find everything so clearly. What was even more amazing was that right after I had booked the place, he messaged to confirm that I was aware the room I booked has a low beam (which is also clearly shown in the photos) and offered to cancel free of charge if this was an issue. I really appreciate that he confirmed this beforehand - it’s just a shame that it seems he has to do this. Please check photos before booking anywhere! I would defo recommend staying here
Thumbs up
Excellent value - clean, easy parking, good pubs nearby
Clean Hotel close to Stoke
Very good value Hotel, Convenient location 5 minutes from the M6 with free parking close to both Stoke and Newcastle under Lyme. Basic, but clean room with friendly helpful staff.
Excellent customer service from staff
10 stars
Happy to book my another stay again. Thank you kevin for being so accommodating and pleasant.
A little gem found......
Arrived earlier than expected however this was not a problem to Jessica who checked me in giving very clear necessery information. Room was very welcoming with a lovely ensuite shower room, extremely clean and fresh all round. A few creaky floorboards but they can be easily fixed. Had a basic breakfast of cereal, then toast & scrambled eggs, charged on top. My room was above the back door entrance, think all guests need to listen when checking in, and then attempt to comply to notices asking them to be considerate to others by not slamming doors. Great parking facility to rear of building which I used, but also noticed parking out front too which may have time lilitations. Mine was just a quick overnight visit on route to Scotland but would certainly rebook to stay again. Oh and a fan may be of use during hotter spells of weather. Thank you all......you gave exactly what I needed.
10/10
Brilliant host and spotless , bathroom spotless and facilities are great , parking easy and plenty of it .
Great value and all essentials present
Cozy and Friendly
Manager and staff were friendly and very attentive to all needs. Always smiling and asking if anything was required. This is very cozy accommodation and very convenient short walk into the local town of Newcastle.
A pleasant night
The only thing that was not good was the temperature of the shower. It was far too hot and could not be turned down to a comfortable temperature. The room was small but well equipped and warm. The double glazing was effective at damping the noise from the road.
Very welcoming
Staff very friendly rooms nice and warm excellent showers breakfast bit to early 0730 till 0830 Noise pollution outside not the hotels fault but maybe find a way to insulate the noise maybe new windows But apart from that good stay
A very professional welcome. Room was clean. But what put me off was the bathroom facilities. Having travelled a long way and wanting to use the toilet when I got there. I entered the toilet. I locked the door and went about my business. After two minutes I had finished. it then took me another 5 to 10 minutes to get out of toilet, as the lock had broken from within. It was lucky I had my door key so I could eventually prize it open: As I left the hotel I noticed a note written on the toilet door saying that the lock was broken. Call me old fashioned, but a note is not good enough. In a premises such as this, with a shared toilet, this lock should have been repaired Immediately.
Nice cosy warm room and had all the necessary amenities; very good value for price; friendly and helpful staff.
Very friendly staff but a lot of road noise from the street outside. Stairs are also very steep! Lovely breakfast room and ample parking.
Y stay any where else
Well if anyone is going to a concert Alton tower’s absolutely anything in the Staffordshire area y would you go any where else absolutely spotless Kevin and his family are warm and welcoming and doing everything they can to make your stay perfect
useful, pleasant 1 night stay
Kevin the proprietor, gave me a friendly welcome on my arrival & concisely explained all points for my stay. some nice touches in my room included hot chocolate sachet & water bottle.
Clean, comfortable and quiet. Excellent service, nothing too much trouble.
Nice warm stay
Great stay in comfortable surroundings. Very clean and quiet and the host was very hospitable! One issue though the tv aerial is broken so couldn’t get a picture.
Very pleasant stay. We were greeted by a very friendly gentleman who showed us to our room. Great location for walking into the town easily. Would definitely stay here again.
