Piles of dog crap all over around the back door entrance. Pool side rooms had toilet water seeping on the bathroom floors. Got moved to a new room in the middle of the night. Hard bed, toilet so low it was like going to a day care using the kiddy potty. We won't go back. No compensation offered for our inconvenience in the middle of the night.

This is the first time we've stayed at this hotel. The front desk staff made us feel at home immediately. So friendly and helpful. It's a great location. The restaurant meal was delicious.

The staff were excellent. The room was clean but the furniture was very worn. Same with the bathroom fixtures and even the bottom of the bathroom door.

Excellent place for business trip

Stayed here for a quick trip. I want to give a shout out to the shuttle service. They picked me up at the airport upon arrival. The next day they drove me to the hospital for a meeting. Then they drove me from the hospital to the airport.

This was a decent stay. My husband enjoyed the breakfast. Our waitress Grace was the best!

Outdated hotel

Surprised this hotel gets as good of reviews as it does. The rooms are outdated and very small. The bathroom ceiling is only 7 feet. The mirror in the bathroom was very small and hung so low I had to bend down. I would not stay here again.

Nice place to stay in Garden City

I stay in better hotels in bigger cities for less money. The Coice hotel next door is more comfortable and more affordable.

Great Experience!

We stayed there because I had surgery in the morning and I wanted a place to rest afterwards. They were very accommodating and allowed us to check in early. They went out of their way to be kind!

We thought the entire hotel was dingy and dirty. Our TV did not work, the shower had no hot water, and the pool had no slide as shown in photos. The front desk provided a new remote, but TV was stuck on one channel. The property was large and would be nice if cleaned and updated.

Older hotel but updated

Very clean, fast check in, great pool and outdoor patio area and the restaurant on site Barrons has great food.

Overall the property was decently nice, but definitely not worth the high price you pay for it. It's a formerly nice hotel that's well beyond it's heyday, but still trying to charge it's customers as though it were still relevant. Our room was clean, the beds were soft, and the towels and linens were fresh. Though I had been warned by other travelers that non-working air conditioning is sometimes a problem at this hotel, we did not experience this. Our room was poolside, but the handle and lock on our sliding glass door to the pool area was broken and wouldn't open. We only selected a poolside room because there weren't any non-poolside rooms available. But if the property is going to charge a premium for this then they should at least make sure the doors are in proper working condition. Additionally, the hotel didn't enforce the pool hours so we had children screaming in the pool area until approx. 11:30 pm. We understand that some noise is inevitable, but allowing unsupervised small children to scream well beyond pool hours should have been dealt with much sooner than it was. Overall, it's not a bad property, but I don't believe we'll be staying here again. It's too outdated/worn out to warrant the price they charge, and you can get a much better price at a nicer, newer hotel elsewhere.

Great time

Great visit. Restaurant was good, hot tub was nice, check in was easy and pleasant.

Above the shower needs some maintenance on the pealing paint and mold in the right corner. There was a lot of dust on the light switch, plug covers in the bathroom. The trim around the bathroom door, back of the bathroom door was very dirty needed a good cleaning. The wall under the light switch also needed cleaning had some stains (I believe coffee) down the wall. When you turned the faucet on there was dried on tooth past where the little red and blue dots are. I may see more than most people due to having worked in house keeping a long time ago. The front desk staff was extremely wonderful especially when my granddaughter locked us out by putting the latch on the door and use going out the sliding door. So they had to call the maintenance man to come and open our door. Our free breakfast was absolutely delicious the waitresses were extremely helpful and nice.

Rude

Was suppose to have a pool side room but the front desk lady told me they don’t do that when you have a service pet this lady was very rude checking in and checking out

We had a room connected to pool area and there was loud talking laughter and noise until midnight when we called the front desk to complain. There was also dogs barking early in the morning.

Very loud music going on in a banquet room just outside my window making it impossible to rest.

Over priced convention center

We felt the Clarion was way over-priced. It is a small convention center with meeting rooms and restaurants. I like to swim, so make a point of finding hotels with indoor pools and will pay extra for it. There was not a single moment when the pool (and hot tub) were not full of kids. PLEASE, all hotels, find an hour or two to reserve the pool for adults. Our room was also in need of an extensive remodel. There was a lot of water damage in the bathroom. Pro: The restaurants are nice with an extensive menu. Sit down breakfast in the morning was free--remember to bring cash for a tip.

Very accommodating i showed up a night early because of weather for a funeral amd they quickly got me taken care of. Very friendly staff. Breakfast was very good. Hot tub wasnt working properly was only downfall but it was still open.

Bar closes to soon

The restaurant need to stay open later. We were in the bar on friday night, they asked us to leave so they could close. There were more than 40 people in there wanting drinks.

The beds were comfortable and the room was warm and clean. But, we booked the hotel for the swimming pool and hot tub, paying the higher price compared to other hotels in the area. However, the pool and spa were closed for maintenance! It was not worth thw $75 more we paid for this hotel.

Even though it is an older hotel, it was very clean and nice. Has a great indoor pool and hot tub. Great onsite dining and several fast food options all within walking distance.

Other reviews pointed out that the property was older, but we found everything to be clean and comfortable. We love the easy access to the pool. Service at the front desk and the restaurant far exceeded our expectations. Good food, too. We'll be back.

Kids toilet

Staff was great, breakfast was great but having had recent knee replacements the toilets were so short we both had to grab the bathroom door knobs to stand up. Toilets were shorter than standard. Floor had a stain that zig zagged across the carpet. Foot rest had a dip in the center.

Average roadside hotel

This is clearly an older hotel that could use a remodel. Bathroom was okay, but you can tell it’s older. Same for the room. This is more of a budget /value hotel. It was quiet & the front desk staff was friendly

Clarion always exceeds my expectations.

It's a great place to stay. Very clean rooms, friendly staff, and the indoor pool area is great, especially when you're traveling with kids. They provide a delicious breakfast at the restaurant right downstairs.

Very nice, kind of dated! Great pool area, but the pool was freezing and hottub could have been warmer.

Check in process was easy. Breakfast buffet was very good and the staff in the different areas of the hotel were all very kind and professional. It was quiet and rooms were well kept. We had a really great time.

I don't usually complain, but....

My husband and I are Senior Citizens and our reservation was for a ground floor poolside room. We were put on the second floor and if we used the elevator, we had to walk a long way to our room. The ice machine on our floor was not working, so we had to go downstairs to get ice. Needless to say, we stayed in our room more than we would have liked because of the location.

Awesome staff, awesome breakfast

Staff was great, I had to work for a part of my day and I asked the front desk where I could get documents scanned in at. She scanned them in herself and saved me valuable time. Breakfast wa amazing as well

Nice place to stay

For the most part my room was ok. Desk Chair slowly sank to the floor when sitting on it. Room chair was knee high until you sat on it then you "dropped" to ankle high to the floor. Bed was firm but ok. Bathroom sink had some form of yellow "dirt/??" around the drain. Never was able to flush it down the drain. Breakfast was ok ~ service was horrible.

Restaurant was a little expensive, so my husband only ate there twice. He said the pillows were very hard, and wasn't gives any fresh towels during his 3 days there.

Won’t Stay Again

Our room AC wasn’t working. We had the thermostat set to 68 but it stayed at 75°. We were told they fixed it but the coolest it ever got in our room was 71°. Our bed was also extremely uncomfortable and the bathroom floor slanted. What was supposed to be a quick little getaway wasn’t the best experience.

Clean and restful

This hotel was just what we needed after a long day of driving! It was clean and comfy with a roomy space to relax. And the free breakfast is served from a menu. Very nice!

There was dirty clothes from a previous guest in the room. Also other guests were allowed to loudly party by the pool late into the night keeping others awake.

I was disappointed with my stay. The room was clean, staff friendly. I picked this particular hotel due to the slide shown in the pictures of the pool. My kids were super excited to have such an option. Unfortunately this slide was removed and everyone was very disappointed. For less money we could have gotten just as nice of a room with a regular pool. I won't stay again.

Air conditioner did not work very well. Told front desk really didn’t seem to care. 2 others had same issue with their AC

The air was not working. We were warm and changed rooms twice. Couldn't get under 75 degrees. The front desk was not informing us that it would not work. Other then that stay was awesome!!

Great hotel in Garden City

I’ve stayed in Garden City 3 times over last 3 years and this has been my favorite hotel by far. There were lovely sitting areas throughout hotel and an excellent on site restaurant.

I Wouldn't if you need consistent wifi and sleep

Stayed for a business trip. I was in room 267 near the back exit. You could hear people enter or exit the hotel because of the noisy door opening and closing . The wifi dropped connection several times. Had to connect to another hotel wifi close (Sleep Inn).

Okay weekend

Hotel was comfortable and quiet but was a little dated. Breakfast was okay but there were not many different options to choose from.

Clarion stay.

Convenient and clean. Restaurant on the premises. Overall a nice place. It is starting to show significant age and could use a modern facelift. Bathrooms are showing water deterioration.

Nice stay

It was a pleasant stay overall. The service and food in the restaurant was bar none the best ever! Only complaint was the room was small and bathroom could stand updated.

Pool area was nice. Lots of open seating to gather and visit with other guest or the group you came with. Restaurant on site is a little pricey but good. Bar area is nice and it has an upper outdoor patio. Rooms are basic. You can see wear and tear on the walls and floor base. Air conditioner is not like a typical wall unit. It comes out of the ceiling with a wall thermostat. I prefer wall units they are louder and I always keep the fan running to block out noise in the hallways. The doors have cracks that let in light. Overall its a basic hotel, I would go back and stay there again, despite the flaws.

The beds were extremely comfortable. Everything was clean. The included hot breakfast was delicious. The staff was welcoming and helpful.

Nice property, friendly service, rooms were spacious and comfortable. My only complaint was that we had an issue with our AC not cooling the room. Someone from maintenance was supposed to work on it, but it never got fixed while we were there.

The room was nice, clean!! Rate was excellent!! Free breakfast was awesome. A full breakfast with excellent service both days. We ate in the restaurant both days except supper on Saturday. The food was excellent we had steaks, and cheeseburgers. With fries. Also chicken fried steak dinners. Moscato wine was very tasty. Elizabet was the best waitress. We had several but you could tell she loved her job! Please praise her!!

Great place, highly recommend

I met my friend here as a half way point between Longmont, CO and KCMO. We enjoyed our stay immensely. Our room walked right out onto the indoor pool deck, the pool was comfortably heated even. The drinks at the bar were reasonably priced, and we enjoyed conversation with the bartender and fellow travelers. Breakfast was complimentary, and served at the hotel’s restaurant. We got a small menu, and they brought our food to us at the table, is wasn’t buffet style like many hotels in this price range. It was a nice surprise. If we had any complaints, it would be the bathroom in our room was very small, and you can definitely tell the hotel has some years on it. But if we meet up in Garden City again, we will definitely be staying at the Clarion Inn. We just had a great time.

no wakeup call

Quiet room - BUT - I asked for a wakeup call at 3:55am as the airport shuttle was going to leave at 4:15 for 6:00 am departure flight check-in. Thankful I woke up early - as there was NO wakeup call! That could have made the day DISASTROUS. Nice place other than this service hiccup.

We had a great stay the only thing that good had been better is the pool needed to be warmer and the hot tub needed to be hotter and you could not even get in it because all the kid’s jumping in and out of it

Nice hotel

Staff was very friendly and helpful. I stayed in the hot tub suite and the room was a little dated but still nice. The breakfast menu was good.

We found bed bugs in our room and had to change hotels which almost made us late for the wedding we were in town for. I’ll never stay at another clarion. Ever. The staff wasn’t apologetic or seemed to care at all about the bed bugs or the I convenience to at it caused. Do yourself a favor and just stay at a holiday inn express which is what we should have done in the first place!

New policies disappointing!

Clean and comfortable with good folks at the front desk. Very disappointed in change in policy of giving a free glass of wine in the restaurant. No cookies at the front desk and free salad bar no longer exists.Change of ownership of the restaurant means higher prices of 30 to 50% on some entres. Have stayed here many years. This is no longer the value it used to be. Breakfast was limited but still decent. Nothing special though.

We came to garden to see my brother graduate, so we wanted a pool. Their pool is 7.5 ft, so everyone was satisfied with the pool. The overall condition of the place is pretty nice, lots of wood. Only complaint was the hot water in the shower wouldnt be consistent. However we did check out another hotel and we are glad we stayed here, would stay again!

No curtains and the parking lot lights shinned directly into my room. Towel rack almost to fall off wall. Everythings seems dirty and worn. Looks like they are not spending any money on the upkeep of the hotel.

Property inside is beautiful and the price is very affordable. Did not like the way you could hear every door close down the hall ways. The gap under the door let in a lot of light and noise.

The cleanliness and location. Was there for a class reunion and the banquet room was ample for the guests.
