the accommodation was really nice for low budget.
OK, nothing special or unacceptable. GPS is recommended I turned just before the hotel and ended up on the motorway.
Terrible
Terrible experience in every sense! They care about decreasing the costs only. Stay away from this place as soon as there is any alternative.
Good convenient location to drive to tourist attractions in Provence. Walkable to city center for dinner. Counter staff during checkin and checkout during weekdays were friendly and helpful. However, counter staff on duty during weekend were not friendly. Basic amenities. Ought to provide facial tissue box.
Good hotel close to the motorway ideal for travelers
I would have liked to have towels changed ... and soap to wash dishes......
Not all front office department was pleasant. Property it self was really nice.
cool
good, clean, calm
Fine for a layover
Fine for a layover, though it was really lovely with a kitchen. The area seemed rough but then again we only used it for a night before travelling on. Could have been cleaner (spills on bathroom door that looked like piss (could have been coffee though)). All in all an okay place.
Cheap room with small kitchen and bathroom
Need to take note of reception times and get the main door Access Codes and your Room key access code before you travel in case you are delayed after 8.00pm otherwise you won't get in! Good Bus service into town very close by Main Problem for me was that while this was meant to be a "No Smoking" room, it smelt like an ashtray - and I actually found cigarette butts stuffed under the sliding window frame so obviously people using it were smoking in the room! Note: Clean towels for length of your reservation - I stayed 5 nights and I literally had to haggle to get a clean towel after the shower overflowed onto floor!
Comfort and great value for 2 bedrooms
Great value for 2 bedrooms
One night
Stayed one night only, nothing to complain.
Budget hotel, odd reception and awkward loading, but still within walking distance of old city centre. Seems like it might be a bit dodgy at night. Adequately priced for the type/condition of hotel. Odd hallways -kind of creepy.
Felt like apartments.
Arrived late and important to know often no one at front desk - no one to let you in! Parking was a challenge. However, walked into town and took bus back and both experiences quite nice. Felt like apartments rather than hotel.
AVERAGE HOTEL -GOOD LOCATION
Hotel was satisfactory.Staff not very friendly or helpful. Location was within walking distance (15 MINS)from main part of old Aix. Good access to motorways for visiting surrounding villages etc.
NICE PRICE
My 6th time at this hotel. It is walking away from the center of Provence (25 minutes). But, across the avenue you can take the bus number 8, pay 1 euro and UALA. The hotel offer a very good internet, breakfast included, tv, separates toilet from shower etc. I RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL.
Hotel in inconvenient place
This is a basic hotel but the main draw back was its location. There are no shops, etc around and a taxi is needed even to go to the local bus station. The drivers charged varying amounts from £9.00 euros to one trying to charge 50.00 euros! The rooms in the hotel were not cleaned each day and therefore the towels were not changed. The only toiletries were a small bar of soap and 2 shower gels. The reception closed at 8.00 pm and we only arrived just before this, so would have been stuck if any later. They did not open before we left at 8.00 am. The staff were friendly. The only place to eat was their buffet which cost 17.00 euros and was not good.
Very quiet area. Rooms were fine. You just need to know how the place operates. Would stay again.
Good location, clean studio. Worth for money.
Good value.
Fine value for money, compared with other hotels in Aix. The shower in my room was inconvenient to use (e.g. the shower head continually dropped into the tub, likely enough onto my foot) but there were adequate linens & soap on hand. Back from the main road, it was quiet.
No more than 2 days hotel.
If you have plan to stay more than 2 days, avoid it. No daily room service. They cleaning it only after you leave. Air conditioning is very loud and looks dirty They close from noon to 3pm. Some days no breakfast ( breads and croissants finished). It is 20 min walk to Rotonde Plaza. There is not commerce around to buy anything. Two days stay is ok, more than that no way.
Provides a nice jump off point for day trips
Stay was satisfying because of location and general room conditions. No reception coverage after 8pm was a little inconvenient. Construction in front did not help loading and unloading the car. Garage facility needs to be better lit. All in all good stay.
only a ten minute bus ride into town
Double room with bathroom and kitchenette was basic but fine; exactly as I'd expected it to be from the website. Was pleased with service: helpful staff at reception. Did not have breakfast served as used the kitchenette so can't comment on food served. Bus service into town is regular and easy to use: one euro each way.
Very Convenient Stay in Aix
I had a very nice overnight stay at City Residence in Aix-en-Provence. I was welcomed at the reception desk with all the information I needed, I was able to take advantage of their laundry facilities, and I enjoyed a good breakfast the following morning.
Hotel in Aix
Great position and well priced. Wifi fair. Parking undercover.
Ok but better choices available
Ok hotel but was a problem with cleanliness of room had cigarette/ unclean smell and after asking staff about getting a cleaner room they they just implied take it or leave so we did leave for another hotel soon after. It was more central and was 10 times better and nothing was a problem. Also the car parking is in the building next door and is 5 euro a night but they never lock the carpark so anyone can come in all night long without paying. Also the bathroom sink was broken and would not drain which leads me to believe that the cleaning of bathroom is very poor as the cleaners should have picked that up while cleaning??.
Overnight
Arrived after reception closed at eight o'clock in evening, this was not indicated on the web site. This is a major oversight. We were only able gain access to the locked foyer by chance and find out how to contact hotel personnel so we could check-in.
Very nicely located.
The staff was tremendously helpful! Tres Bien! Merci
Clean & good for the price.
It's not a five star hotel, but it was inexpensive, clean and not too far from the city centre. Bathroom & shower were good.
Not quite close enough to town
Just outside town and a multi-lane junction to cross to get there. Managed to get 1 of the 2 free parking spots. Friendly reception. For very little extra capital they could have made it superb (little things - like a bin in the room, a kettle etc.)
Nice people, the room is clean, good breakfast, hotel offer washer machine as well. The location is far to the downtown. Around 30 minutes walking.
City residence review
Far from town. Nothing in the vicinity. Very poor service. Air conditioning broken. Ran out of supplies and no one around to service. Recommend a hotel closer to Aix.
Lovely!
The staff were very helpful and spoke good English. The room was a good size with a spacious bed. We stayed while the Tour de France was on and the starting line was just outside the hotel! The city centre is a bit of a walk but very achievable, the beautiful gardens are not fair at all. Overall we enjoyed our stay !
nice, spacious and good for a nice long stay
nice, spacious and good for a nice long stay
Close to all must-see sights
I really appreciated the hotel staff which were very helpful and their attentiveness and ability to speak & understand english.
Flooding shower did not help our stay. Also not much info on nearby cafes etc.,
Just dont.
Its smells like an ashtray. Terrible experience. We took the bags back to the car and went to another hotel as it would be impossible to stay. -(
Impossible to find, but a nice hotel
The address said it was on Route de Galice. It's not. It's down another nameless street. If in doubt, ask at the Best Western. They helped us find it. :) All in all, a wonderful hotel once we found it. Nice staff too.
Remote and Odd hotel With a charming staff
This hotel is located a bit out of town next to the freeway. Public transportation is horrendous so you need a car here. Nearby shopping and dining are nonexistent. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful but the rooms leave a lot to be desired. Our bathtub was leaking badly due to corrosion which seemed to come as a surprise to management. We did get a change of rooms and the next room was nicer. 'Breakfast' was an additional charge and was completely inadequate. A strange experience, to say the least.
OK for the price
First impressions weren't good: the place is vary had to find, being off the main road behind another hotel, and overlooking the autoroute. The receptionist was in a bad mood and the reception area looked like a bomb had hit it. The corridors reeked of tobacco smoke and the room was pretty dowdy, but not unclean. On the upside it is not too far to walk to the old city. This isn't luxury, but it's not bad value for the price.
Really lovely place to stay. We had a whole apartment to ourselves. However, there's no one at the desk from 12-3, so it was a hassle to check in once we'd arrived. Also, our internet passwords continually did not work. It was also a little far out from town, especially as we had to walk in. But all in all, a really nice room and great facilities.
City Residence Aix en Provence
The Hotel was a nice place to stay for a few days...we arrived on a Sunday, so make sure if you're arriving out of hours that you TELEPHONE reception to get instructions on how to get your keys Reception staff were very helpful and friendly and seemed to know where everything is! I was able to ask them how to get to university campuses etc Bus number 7 is the link and takes you to the town centre, although the town centre is walking distance The rooms were clean, kitchenette was decent, worked properly...doesn't have a kettle however Bathroom was clean too, fully functioning shower sofa bed was a bit of a let down, but overall I would recommend this place to anyone coming here ps. best to get there by taxi :)
great space for price
Other reviews of this hotel were strikingly bad but I found that the value was great since Aix is an expensive city and the rooms are quite large. It is not a luxury hotel, but it has all the conveniences necessary, a bus stop to the downtown area about 5 minutes walking distance, and the staff was extraordinarily nice and helpful. Finding the hotel is a bit tricky - Bus Stop Crosy on Line 6, then walk over the overpass and turn right at the Kyriad.
Not as expected
The hotel was really dingy. The beds were incredibly hard, the room was not comfortable at all. It was a pretty far walk to the center of town, and the buses don't run correctly on the weekend. I would stay closer in town, it's not worth it. Check in after hours was incredibly confusing since you had to call a strange number, pray someone spoke english, and try to get your key out of a lock box.
Basic accomodation
We went to this hotel because the rate was very cheap. However, you should not expect anything else but basic accomodation. Even then, I think there are some basic elements that should have been there. When we got to our room, we noticed the carpet in the hallway was dirty. Our comforters were also stained. And they don't give you enough toilet paper to last for 2 nights (!) and there are no tissues. Also note that there is no housekeeping that goes through the rooms every night. And they expect you to remove all the sheets and put them in a pile for them to pick up when you leave. As I said, we went there for the price, because it's really nothing better than "a place to crash".
Appart'Valley Aix en Provence - a bus ride away
The hotel was slightly difficult to find because it's hidden away behind another hotel. This seems to be a location where people are staying for short, but extended periods of time-- maybe a few weeks. It's about a 15 minute bus ride away from the city center. There are definitely closer places to stay if that's where you want to be. It can be inconvenient because the bus stops running at night . The staff was nice, but not available in the mid-afternoon or in the evening. Notes in the hotel room ask for somewhat unreasonable things like asking you to take out your own garbage, load the dishwasher, and fold the sheets and towels when you're done. I think if you're paying for the room, you're paying for certain services to be done for you. The hotel advertises that it has Wi-Fi, but it's not free at all. You have to pay 20 euro for a full day of wi-fi. If you're looking for a cheap place to rest your head, you can do worse.
Worst sofabed ever
I booked a studio, knowing that it was a sofabed. I normally can sleep on sofabed, this was horrible. I ended up moving the mattress to the floor, and that was reasonable, but should not have been necessary. The location is definitely on the edge of town, but I was using Aix-en-Provence as base to explore surround towns, so it was rather convenient to be near the highway. However, I was quite surprised that that they charged 6.50 euros per night for parking. For a hotel on the edge of town, this seems pretty unreasonable.
Good value, tough challenge to check in
The place is clean and quiet, close to freeway and within walking distance to both old town Aix and to a new shopping mega-center. The challenge is to find it! GPS shows it incorrectly (it is actually between A53 and an unnamed lane, behind Kyriad). The only little sign pointing to it is on Route de Galice eastbound. Also reception isn't manned after 8 pm. The late-arrival phone # has a French-only voice mail menu (press 4 or 5). There were lost and confused late-night arrivals almost nightly. Lastly, value is pretty good but extra charges (underground parking, internet access, laundry) may be steep. And please be careful with the little parking spot out in front, most small cars won't negotiate its curb without body damage, unless you can rig a makeshift ramp of rocks or wood.
Great service
Outstanding service from the front desk. It's not the most interesting location in the world, but it's a very short drive into the heart of Aix.
3 star? No way
a studio room with a pull out couch??? Big mistake- never again.
Apartment/hotel in Aix-en-Provence
This apartment hotel was very basic. The kitchen has a small amount of dishes & utensils but no dish soap. You get one bath towel when you check in & that's it, no maid service of any type. The office is closed on weekends from noon until 3pm. Using my pedometer, I determined that the main square is l.5 miles from the hotel & we found no restaurants or grocery stores close by. The bus is about 2 blocks away & runs about every 20 minutes on week days. Many of the rooms have pull out sofa beds; however, they found a room with an actual bed for us when we requested it. My main reason for not recommending this hotel is the location; it's far from everything.
not impressed
spent 5 days here. a good half hour walk away from the city centre. once we had run out of toilet paper we were told by reception we then had to buy our own supply. no one came to collect our rubbish...by the end of our stay the rubbish smelt quite bad. we were also informed that we had to throw away our own rubbish. no one came to change our bedding . we also had one set of towels all week. no one cleaned our room all week... and the kitchen facilitys were very poor also as there was no dishwashing liquid to wash up.
good value for the experienced traveler
Good value for your money, but you must be ready to walk to Aix, a 20 minute walk, considering that bus service is limited. The building is totally hidden behind the Kyrian Prestige Hotel, you MUST make a note of this. The rooms were clean and provided moderate comfort. The sofa bed was impossible to sleep in(very lumpy), luckily we had rented the bigger apartment, with a bedroom and regular bed. The laundry room has a great washer-dryer for a total of 6 euros, no soap needed. I managed to get in two regular loads. The nearest supermarket is a 15 minute walk away, but you can get your groceries in Aix when you visit.
Adatto a chi abituato agli ostelli. Ok pulizia camera e bagno. Ok colazione a pagamento.
Comfortable stay for a family near Aix downtown
Very nice stay. The apartment was very large and comfortable for a family with kids. Parking on site is a big help. Will stay again
Tres bon accueil Manque condiments
Localização ideal para conhecer a Provence.
Boa localização, fácil acesso as estradas para explorar arredores. Aa acomidações amplas, confortáveis e limpas.
Better place than city center
Very spacious and cosy with kitchen. I'd lile to recommend this hotel for family trip.
