Nice property and very clean.
The shower floods out the bathroom. The lights don't work bathroom door
Loved the convenience of this property and location to the national mall
The bed is a platform bed against the wall so you have to climb over each other to get out. Extremely small, tight quarters for getting ready. The person at the sink has to move if someone is going in or out of the bathroom. The staff seem more interested in talking to each other and hanging out than helping guests. Very disappointing for the quality of service we usually receive in downtown DC. We would never book ourselves or recommend to anyone the Citizen M experience.
I liked the ambience and service.
This was our first time staying at CitizenM in Washington DC. The experience between NYC and DC locations are very similar. The design, cleanliness and amenities are almost identical. The price seemed very reasonable, we paid about $115 per night.
The technology and service was top notch
We really enjoyed our stay at citizenM. Though the rooms are compact, they are extremely clean, cozy, modern, and efficient. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful as well. I would definitely stay here again for my next visit to the National Mall.
The rooms are very small, but many amenities here
this hotel was very convenient for our needs. We were there to see the basic DC sites, and we were less than a block – two partial blocks – to a major metro with three or four lines. We were about a 5 to 7 minute walk to the Air&Space Museum, and then the mall from there. The room was small, but the bed was comfortable, and we slept well. The staff was very helpful and congenial. I’m more traditional in my taste, but the decor was fun and modern. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I have no complaints.
Amazing very clean rooms 💕
Not a typical hotel, fun, artful and well designed
We had a wonderful time. My wife had visited DC for business and stayed at the hotel two prior visits and raved about the unique and artful property. It was my first visit and couldn't agree more. It was as advertised. We really appreciated the thoughtful design and branding across the entire hotel, especially the fun immersive details in the compact room, the bed and bedding was incredibly comfortable, and made it a fun experience. We loved the convenient location to the Mall, Capitol Hill and the Warf as well. Will be back in the future.
My check-in experience was smooth, the accommodations were perfect for my particular travel experience, and to be very honest, the feel of the hotel makes me want to return again and stay with citizenM, especially because I didn't get a chance to try the sushi bar and hotel bar/restaurant while there. I had an excellent experience and would recommend for solo travelers or a couple looking for a weekend getaway.
Great service
The room was smaller than I thought, overall a good hotel. The breakfast can be better.
The hotel is awesome! It is in a quiet neighborhood and close to common tourism spots
Unique property. Perfect for us low maintenance, light luggage travelers. Small, clean room was fine, but if you're sleeping two (or more) someone has to climb over as the bed is against the window. Efficient self check in. Wish there was free coffee in the lobby in the morning!
Great
Pros: - Bed up against large window. - Comfortable bed, pillows, sheets. - Free water jugs you can take to your room. - Has a bar with food until 11PM. - Convenient location for National Mall. Cons: - Regardless if you set the AC to low, medium, high, or auto, it doesn't change airflow. Airflow is VERY light and completely silent. If you set to 64 degrees (lowest it can go), it will take hours to get to like 70 degrees min. It will never get anywhere close to 64. - Bathroom door would not close. - Cheap plastic floor fake wood peeling off.
Great room and tech, small but manageable. Location also was great walking distance to everything and close to the metro
We had an excellent time at the property. The only issue was the streaming to the chrome cast wasn’t working for our room. Minor inconvenience for an otherwise great trip!
Exceeded expectations
😍
Modern and efficient Small rooms but very clean Parking garage next to hotel is spendy for overnight Hotel price reasonable Nice lounge and bar area Would definitely use again!
Limited choice on their menu, lack of professional service. Limited choices on their tv channels.
Staff were very accommodating and helpful. Citizenm is always a good idea!
I had an incredible stay at citizenM Washington! The staff were exceptionally friendly, and the bartenders truly stood out—they crafted some amazing drinks. I also loved the artist paintings displayed on the walls, which added a unique charm to the atmosphere. The attention to detail in the decor, reflecting the power of humanity and diversity, was truly inspiring. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a vibrant and welcoming experience!
Fun place.
Will come back again
Excellent location; walking distance to the Mall and metro station. Room was small but more convenient than Moxy. Will come back again in the future.
Great stay.
right next to the metro which takes you anywhere including the airport.
This hotel as great, the room though some may consider small was well designed, quiet, clean and comfortable. When I came into the room the TV screen displayed "Welcome S......". I really liked the I Pad that controled everything including daylight and blackout curtains, the wake up "alarm" that slowing lit up the room and played sounds, not a loud buzzing. The night light was a glowing glass enclosed bath that you could control the color. Very cool. The bed was very comfortable. Just a very efficiently designed space. The staff were all very nice and helpful. The hotel was close to the Smithsonian museums and Metro stations were near-by. The hotel has a highly touted sushi restaurant and there are a number of restaurants within walking distance. Also, the hotel's affordable price is an additional plus. I highly recommend this hotel.
It was great
Rooms are very smaller than the photos shown on the website
Staff very welcoming Excellent location for site seeing Too bad restaurant doesn’t have more food options
Clean, nice, great location
Perfect for our grad weekend!!
Excellent stay!! We were here with family for graduation and everyone was just amazed at the place!
Very good
This is very modern.
A Welcoming Stay Close to Everything I recently had the pleasure of staying at citizen M Washington DC, and I can’t recommend it enough. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel right at home with their warm hospitality and genuine attentiveness. Every interaction felt personal, and they went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The hotel itself exudes charm and coziness, with well-appointed rooms that offer a perfect retreat after a day of exploring. The ambiance is inviting, making it easy to relax and unwind. Location-wise, it couldn’t be better. The hotel is conveniently close to all the major attractions, allowing me to make the most of my trip without spending much time commuting. Whether it’s landmarks, dining spots, or cultural highlights, everything is just a short walk or drive away. If you’re looking for a place that combines excellent service, a welcoming atmosphere, and a prime location, citizenM Washington DC Capitol is the perfect choice. I’ll definitely be returning!
We have to check ourselves in, the staff didn’t know what the parking garage charged right next door, and the room is a glorified closet, good for a couple, I had to share a bed with my brother in law.
Clean and friendly hotel. Amazing technology rooms
Great staff
Very walkable and public transportation friendly
Small room. But everything else was great! Breakfast great! Walking area great! Central.
CitizenM reminds me of a trendy, boutique hotel that you would find in the middle of Tokyo, Japan because the rooms are small and minimalistic yet colorful and ultra-modern. The common areas are very stylish and the staff is attentive and ubiquitous.
My room actively leaked water from the ceiling, and the front desk rep acted like I was absurd for wanting a room without a leaky ceiling. Subpar amenities (2 in 1 shampoo/body wash, no iron, etc.), no cleaning service provided during 4 day visit, mostly unfriendly staff. Avoid.
Outstanding. I’m not usually not writing a review unless it’s utterly terrible. Or great :)) This was really great, everything, maybe particularly the staff. We’ll return!
Good hotel, the only downside is that there aren’t many places to eat around.
The staff was very helpful and kind. The hotel was clean and the vibe was amazing. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone going to visit DC in the future.
Don’t read the reviews just book the STAY!
Overall FANTASTIC!
I’d definitely stay at this hotel again, and since returning home, have recommended it to others. The only negative that I experienced was SOME of the staff members seemed unfriendly and never smiled throughout my entire stay. If you can overlook that, you’re golden. This place is optimal for a solo traveler.
Very clean room but very small, feels like in a motor home.
Very quiet, easy walk to the Smithsonian museums and metro.
Near attractions. Small but neat.
Parking $51 overnight absurd. Dirty room and bedding.
Perfectly located
My favorite hotel in DC
I luv the area it's in walking distance to the monuments, the water front, and subway
Room was adorable and fun. Love the branded design and atmosphere. Just thoughoughly enjoyed everything about this experience
Like the fact all was clean
The personal treatment from the manager AND all the staff restaurant. Excellent. Will return of course
Worth the price!
Probably the most modern style hotel I’ve been to. Definitely worth the price and I would stay there again. The room got a bit stuffy though, even when we had the AC set to the lowest setting. That’s the only problem I had.
Perfect with only one drawback. No coffee maker in the room.
Quiet, clean property. A consistent hotel chain always located in the heart of cities.
Seamless check in and check out
WHOMEVER IS CONNECTED TO THIS PLACE IS RUDE THE SECURITY GAURD SHOULD BE FIRED
Nice clean place close to a lot of museums Staff was very friendly
It is great!
VERY NICE
Front desk and dining service lacking
Very great service and atmosphere
Budget friendly
Nice property overall. Nice breakfast. Nice gym. Nice staff. Minor issue with my TV Not coming on (but it was fixed after calling the front desk) and a weird odor coming from the bathroom but besides that nice hotel.
Pretty good in general and the bed was really comfortable.
.
Everything!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love citizenM properties
A nice stay!
A standard CitizenM stay - the most comfortable bed in any hotel in a small but functional room. This one is no different. The bar staff in particular were really friendly and attentive. Only thing to note for tourists, this is not far from the National Mall but it’s on the wrong side of it in terms of attractions or even things like a convenience store. Area is quite empty.
This is an outstanding place to stay in Washington. The location is excellent, making it easy to walk to all the main tourist attractions, and the neighborhood is incredibly safe and quiet. We walked everywhere with no issues. The hotel itself is extremely modern, the bar offers a fantastic selection of drinks, and the food is exceptional. We even ordered pizza at 11 PM, and it was delicious! The breakfast buffet is extensive and satisfying. The staff is the nicest I've ever encountered. I will absolutely be staying here again.
Cool, Clean, Comfy and Modern
My stay at citizenM was perfect! I was in town for a concert at The Anthem and just needed an affordable, comfortable, clean and convenient place to stay the night. The check-in/out process was super easy as they primarily use kiosks. The room was renovated, modern, comfortable and full of useful tech. Some of the tech (automated shades, lights, TV control, custom ambient lighting, etc) was a little overwhelming when late at night/impaired... but ultimately it was a very cool touch that I barely got the opportunity to fully explore.
We were going to show at Anthem, very unique
Great stay , wish parking was included
Hi tech place
Nice hotel and location. Only issue was all the technology in the room: iPad controls for TV, lights, blinds. At one point a room switches were not turning on lights and blinds were going up automatically. They had to ‘re-boot” the room
Amazing stay, really nice hotel, rooms are clean and appealing, friendly staff, it was also cheaper than other nearby hotels, really happy I stayed here! Will definitely look for other citizenM hotels to stay in elsewhere!
This hotel was great for three things: cost to stay, cleanliness and comfortable beds. A warning though--the hotel itself is geared to a younger demographic. We found it difficult to figure out how to use the elevator and that we needed to use the iPad to control the tv and climate. Sitting in the lounge off the lobby the music is very loud and they won't turn it down. The hotel is also located in an area of the city where nothing is open after six pm which was frustrating for people who arrive at 7 pm. Although I do recommend Z Burger around the corner (the chicken sandwich and milkshakes are phenomenal). The hotel is about a 2 km walk from the mall but a block over is the metro which was very convenient. Overall, it was comfortable and affordable but a little frustrating for my husband and I. We heard the same complaint from a few other people of our generation while waiting in the lobby. This is nothing against the staff (wonderful) or the comfort of the hotel room itself (fantastic), just that the hotel chain is aimed for groups not like us.
5 stars overall Rooms are just very small
I had a wonderful stay at the CitizenM Hotel. From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, making sure I had everything I needed. The room was spotless, comfortable, and had all the amenities I could ask for. The hotel’s location was convenient, with easy access to the city sites seeing. Overall, a great experience—I would definitely stay here again!
Just the room area is small for 2 persons.
Fantastic hotel. Entire staff was absolutely wonderful, helpful, welcoming. Parking is an absolute pain, as there MAY be a mere 15-20 spots to park tgatvarent in Tow-away zones OR dump $50 a day for the parking garage next door. Not the hotel's fault, for sure, but was really annoying. No towels or soap in the 2nd floor mens room the entire 4 days I was there. Even with that issue, I would absolutely stay here and ONLY here on my next trip to DC, where you are literally about one mile or less from ALL the tourist sites like the Capitol, Syoreme Court, Smithsonian museums (all 937,527 of them), Lincoln, Jefferson, and Washington Monuments, and the White House, etc. You want *this* hotel. The hotel down the street from this one looks too shady, tbh.
I liked everthing!! i will get back
Tiny micro rooms. The garbage can only held a quart size bag. If you wanted any housekeeping service you had to request it 24 hr in advance or no new towels or garbage removal after 4 days. Took 1/2 hr to figure out light system. Lights all on or all off. Couldn’t turn a light on for the bathroom at night. Not close to attractions and museums. 7 minute by car, 35 walking. Cute hotel but truely an example of form over function. Terrible water pressure. Towels were huge but felt like sand paper.
Definitely not the typical hotel. The rooms are super small literally king bed touched 3 walls literal have to climb over my wife to get out of the bed. This could be my fault for not seeing it in the pictures better but the bathroom is super small as well no room to be in the room to relax. It is definitely just sleeping area. Service was hard to come by you would have to go find someone. The room is controlled by an iPad that would shut everything down and off if you pushed the wrong button. The tiny fridge did not work and they automatically do not clean your room you will have to request it on the iPad. If you are planning on just one person probably would not be to bad but if more than just one I would book elsewhere.
The rooms are well designed but very very small. Make sure you are with someone you’re comfortable sharing everything with. The bathroom is a pod containing toilet and shower, with the sink in the room, so not much privacy.
The hotel room was shockingly small. Faint sewer ordor in room from floor vent in bathroom. Shower wall leaked, but was addressed promptly. Hotel was clean, buffet breakfst was very good. Staff were professional, attentive and polite. Location was great, well within walking distance to museums, waterfront, Capitol Hill and monuments.
Nice but terrible pillows and too open mind for our taste. Very small and claustrophobic rooms.
Would definitely book again.
CitizenM was a hidden surprise. I had never heard of them but booked because they had a high rating and reasonable cost. The bed was the most comfortable ever. Spent a lot of time relaxing in the lobby with snacks and drinks. All staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We were in a great location in DC within walking distance of several museums and monuments.
I didn’t know what to expect until I arrived at the hotel. I was amazed with how trendy it looked and how everything was very customized to me. Walkability to the National Mall was absolutely amazing! I will definitely stay at CitizenM again!
Excellent downtown hotel
Really excellent hotel. Warm staff, clean comfy rooms with nothing you don’t need and no grungy carpet, convenient to walk everywhere. It is becoming more expensive but still worth it.
Incredible place to stay! Centrally located to everything. Decor was so unique, “homey”, and fun! The staff was so friendly and accommodating in all encounters. It was a wonderful experience, I highly recommend a visit!
Would stay here again
Cool place, nice people, comfortable and clean. Reasonable. Nice bar good food convenient.
