Very convenient location to stay in Cambridge everything was in walking distance. Appreciate the breakfast included with the booking.
This a great place to stay for a solo traveller, inside one the historic Cambridge colleges that is otherwise closed to visitors. Shared bathroom / shower facilities are very clearly explained at booking. Effortless check in procedure.
Very convenient location snd spacious room. Rather a lot of stairs (4 flights to my room including stairs to the bed on a mezzanine) next time in would request a room on a lower floor. No wifi but I had my phone. Definitely worth it for the price and location.
The wifi did not work despite great attempts from the porters. Also need instructions for the room heater spent a very cold first night here. Bathroom dirty with hairs. However location was first class and beautiful surroundings.
Very central and reasonable cost
Cheap, clean, warm, spacious and friendly. Breakfast good too.
A very reasonably priced accommodation for central Cambridge. The rooms were functional (being student accommodation essentially) but perfectly clean and reasonable. There is no car parking, but staff allowed me to leave my motorbike within the grounds which was very much appreciated. The breakfast was excellent.
Great venue- central and the wider college is full of history. Room is a more basic 70/80s student room but fine.
Perfect location, comfy stay
Nice cosy room with comfy bed. Designed for working in so a huge desk which i used to prop kindle on to watch tv. Fantastic value to stay right in the heart of Cambridge. Excellent breakfast, lots of choice and all piping hot.
Good Breakfast, Clean and Safe, Very convenient for the centre of town and universities
Great stay
Excellent Value for Money. Cooked breakfast was great value. College is historic , founded by Margaret Beaufort , mother of Henry VII. Rooms are student rooms, so don’t expect four star hotel rooms. A really interesting place to stay for a couple of nights.
Great opportunity to experience college accommodation. Good breakfast.
Typical student accommodation with small, pladtic bathroom unit.
Lovely staff and easy check in and we were on an open day visit for the University so absolutely perfect location and great breakfast. Just no hot water in the morning and had travelled a long way so needed a good shower!! Strip wash instead!
Fabulous location in the centre of Cambridge. The room took me back to student days so very nostalgic
Excellent very central accommodation. Very friendly staff.
No towels refreshed on second day no tv
Feels Like being a Student at Cambridge
Central in the City. Cool Location for Fans of Bridgerton or British Movies.
The accommodation itself was fine but it was impossible to sleep without earplugs because of the shouting and general racket from people in the area immediately outside. I had to keep the window closed despite the hot weather which also severely limited my sleep.
The collegiate atmosphere and proximity to places of interest in Cambridge
Beautiful campus, but dorms definitely don't match their surroundings.
Christs College - short break
Very central, easy to find, extremely clean. Basic, no frills (TV, hair dryer etc). Good size bathroom. Lack of lift to floors could be off putting to some.
Christ's College is an old institution with lovely grounds in the centre of Cambridge and it is easy to walk to attractions. The accommodation is in a modern block at the back of the grounds and was built by the architect for the National Theatre .So I was faced with a huge flight of concrete steps and no lift!Luckily I had help with my case from a gardener on my arrival and a cleaner as I left and in between I got quite fit! But I think you should warn prospective guests with limited mobility as there are rooms at the ground floor of the block for which you do not need to use the steps. Breakfast was included and was very good with options of cold meats, juice, fruit, cereal, cooked breakfast, toast, bread and jam as well as tea or coffee. The room was modern with ensuite facilities ( mini wetroom). NO TV but once I managed the complicated instructions I could use my tablet on college wifi.Excellent value for money!
Perfectly nice room in a lovely quiet courtyard. The staff were friendly and helpful.
i was in room in room i on stairs 3 the shower room was small and you got to step in and out no tv in room
Great location in the centre of Cambridge surrounded by beautiful grounds. Rooms are basic but very clean and peaceful.
No tv The kettle didnt work but it replaced with a new model asap
It is really interesting to stay “in college” for those of us who have never had the experience. Don’t expect luxuries. But the room was large, clean and comfortable; the breakfast “in hall” was fine. The location is perfect for seeing all the Cambridge sights. Something a little different than a run of the mill hotel room.
People could not do enough for me. Porters, cleaners, gardener. Would be the only place for me in cambridge to stay. They have improved their facilities, could not be better. Presentation a key.
Christ’s College Cambridge Stay!
As it was in the student accommodation it is fairly basic but suited my needs perfectly. You can feel the history as you walk through the courtyards, fantastic location. Breakfast was fine as well. Beautiful city to walk around in.
Excellent low cost stay
Easy walk from Cambridge station. Nice, cheerful greeting from the guys at reception. Explained exactly how to get to our respective rooms. Room was clean, clean towels and a basin with complimentary soap etc. Being a single room I expected smaller but was easily big enough for me. Shared bathroom facilities were clean although very small. Probably the smallest shower I have had to try and squeeze into but being clean was the most important thing to me.
Great stay!
Simple student room with basic necessities. Shared bathroom didn't seem to be attended daily as some traces of rubbish left by others are observed for more than a day, along with loo roll not topped up at some point for a day. Would have appreciated availability of fan during the week of heatwave. Overall this place is good for it's price, very convenient location, and surrounded by beautiful old buildings.
All nearby
Exactly what it says in the tin, student accommodation in the heart of the city within the grounds of the historic college.
Beautiful buildings, facilities a bit basic but price reflects this
Very basic and overpriced. Also noisy. Breakfast was good. A lot of choice
Great option. Reasonable price
Lovely welcome form the porters and a very clean and smart room. Excellent value and highly reccomend!
Good price & convenient for solo travelller
Check in was straightforward and no issues. Easy to access most places by foot in Cambridge. The environment is very quaint but when it gets dark, the room in Staircase 4 was disturbed by Thursday night out groups till late, I suppose it’s university students area.
Good value but basic
Overall not bad, one of our rooms had a big stain on the carpet which didn't look very inviting, but the rest was ok. Decent enough rooms and in a great location. One big drawback was no TV in the room. But for the price, compared to what else was in the area it was definitely value for money
Check in time of not a minute earlier than 2pm was hugely inconvenient...i arrived at 11am and had to hang around for 3 hours. Check out is 10am...i think the 4 hour difference is unreasonable.
Great location right in the heart of Cambridge. Great history and wonderful buildings.
It slightly depends on what room you get - old or new building, bathroom attached or not - but in general, this is a great place to stay, wonderful campus, charming surroundings and Buttery, location excellent, price very reasonable, stayed here more than once and always felt it was the right choice.
Great location
Great location & price for a stay in the centre of Cambridge. Not too far from the train station & a cab rank bang outside. Would certainly recommend a stay.
Short and sweet
It was a big comfortable room close to everything.
I stayed in the New Court, which is a modern dorm. It was clean, and fine, but definitely showed dorm wear and tear. The surrounding college and town were lovely and the staff helpful.
Great location!
Exactly what I needed a clean and well positioned bed for the night in the centre of town!
Room, location and service was great. Don't bring a car there is no parking. Breakfast buffet was a little cold.
It’s a working college with history attached. Better then a run of the mill hotel. No tv so you will want to go sightseeing. Would stay next time in Cambridge
It is in a great location. The room was just like a hotel room with all amenities. The new building in which my room was, was not as picturesque as the rest of the college but it was lovely to walk in the grounds of the college. The breakfast was excellent and in a beautiful setting.
There were several defects in the bathroom, including one H&S issue, which I reported to the Porter on leaving. There were no parking or luggage unloading facilities at the college and this should be made clear in the advert. A street map of Cambridge showing long-stay car parks should have been available from the Porter on arrival. Breakfast was excellent and good value for money!
My first stay in a college. A lot of construction contracts in progress around the site.
I wish I could be able to stay again whenever I am in Cambridge
Good location
Good value but room for improvement
Nice to stay on campus. Brought back memories! However room was small, tired, too hot and not properly cleaned. Was adequate. Many stairs make the room inaccessible, was fortunate wasn't on a pain spike.
Beautiful college in town.
Really friendly staff at the porters lodge who were helpful throughout our stay. It’s a beautiful college in the centre of town. The rooms of course are student accommodation, big, comfortable bed and decent shower. No hairdryer but kettle and shampoo or provided.
Amazing
Our stay at Christ College was brilliant. Lovely setting and amazing staff. Rooms and bathrooms basic as you would expect but exceptional clean. Central for all attractions.
For £50 it was OK. However, things to be aware of. The picture of the lovely old Uni building isn't necessarily where you will stay. I was on the top floor of a glass building, with the bed being on a mezzanine so it was incredibly hot. Also, the building appeared to be heated as well. Certainly the bathroom was. It doesn't have it's own parking and there are restrictions around the area, so beware. However, as I say for the price it was cheap, clean, comfy (apart from the heat), very near shops and the porters were very helpful indeed.
This property should not be classified a Hotel; it's like going back to old student time and living in the hostel; It is fine for back packers and tourists going round different cities. The tariff of £150 is too much to pay- should not be more than £60. There was no on site parking and we had to use park and ride facility- very inconvenient indeed. I hope Expedia would look into this and stop advertising listing as Hotel in Cambridge city.
Delightful surroundings, close to city centre, comfortable accommodation, excellent breakfast!
Give hall a chance and save.
Brilliant service, very good breakfast, large comfortable room. Location is ideal bang in the middle of Cambridge the site is spread out so it was a bit of a hike to breakfast but a nice walk through the collage gardens to the refectory in the upper hall the breakfast was well worth the walk. All the staff were brilliant This is student accommodation and is well used and shows signs of this use but the room was clean and well provided with good linen and toiletries also a well provided tea tray the room has wash hand basin but sheared bathing and toilet.
Student room
Student room at college. All basic but clean and in order. A bit warm as the weather was like that outdoor. Window to a busy street and working site. Pub on the other side of the street. Noisy! Good with back door to the street close. Breakfast was good but the manager was a bully. Wouldn't like to be her staff member. She liked to be bossy! All other staff supportive!
Very nice , wonderful area surrounding and the staff are very helpful .
Fantastic location - noisy room
Perfect location and left luggage handy BUT our rooms were in the new halls and feel the photos of calm, beautiful and tranquil gardens are misleading as our rooms were not in this area. We were in the new block at the back of the grounds. The rooms were very spacious and the shared bathrooms as you would expext for Uni accommodation! Sadly it was not a peaceful nights sleep. Shop alarm going off in the early hours, car alarms, glass bins being emptied very early from the pub opposite, noise from busses and motorbikes, street noise plus other residents/students coming back very late.
So atmospheric - nothing can beat Christ's
The picture "on the cover" - true to what you see when you are there. Superbly friendly porters, eco-conscious approach (close to my heart), decent bedding, smack in town, pukka breakfast (albeit coffee is cafeteria style - but plenty of Costa's and Nero's nearby for a top up) - who'd want to be anywhere else.
Spacious room. Especially for the price. It is in beautiful grounds. I found it hard to find as it is a bit hidden away and actually in the college. It was boiling but I went in a heatwave. Would be good to have some heating instructions as I wasn’t sure if this was on. Good Wi-Fi and would stay again. Check in and check out was very quick.
Great Shortstay, wonderful Cambridge.
Me and my partner stayed here so I could attend my university graduation, and the overall experience was wonderful, very kind and helpful staff, lovely scenery and proximity to Cambridge centre, for all the shopping and nightlife. Would happily stay again~
Corn Exchange Gig
Comfortable stay during out of term visit for a gig at the Corn Exchange. Large room with bathroom next door.
Historic context with modern facilities and very friendly staffing. Lovely place to stay in Cambridge. Location is very close to everything central.
Historic location ,Full of History
Very pleasant stay,Great to see the historic town of. Cambridge, very nice area,Great bars, and restaurants,Nice people, enjoyed everything
Beautiful setting, friendly but beware typewriter!
Beautiful historic setting, very friendly and helpful porters and breakfast crew, good breakfast. Only down side was the room in the typewriter (new court): worse than most new small student hall rooms at the lowest polytechnic. But it was clean, and set in lovely grounds.
Gardens are real positive. Breakfast is excellent.
The hotel and staff were superb. Only downside was there was no parking and none nearby. This needs to be considered when booking if driving.
Great city stay
Really good stay. Room was clean and quiet with all the little basics you need. There were stairs to climb to get to the room so that could be a consideration for some. We had breakfast in the college which was convenient and acceptable. It would have been more convenient to pay at the buffet hall rather than go to the porters lodge particularly as paying by card is so easy. Being right in the town centre was so handy. Porters, Lydia and Colin were so helpful with information and very welcoming - makes such a nice change to be made to feel that you are a valued guest.
Pleased only 1 night
No clear directions. No answer on phone to try and locate. Room not clean. Shower and toilet combined and plastic. Just not a pleasant stay.
A little piece of history
This was a lovely spot. the buildings and lawns at Christ's College are picture box perfect. The accommodation is in a modern block with a small en-suite - clean and well serviced. A special mention for the lovely porters who were welcoming and approachable.
Fabulous Historic & Interesting 😀
Having the opportunity to stay in such a beautifully nostalgic setting with such a long history was both interesting and restful. In the heart of the town centre I could visit Heffers and Cambridge University press Bookshops with ease!
Beautiful surroundings and very central to the city which is why we chose this accommodation. You can park for up to 72 hours at the park and ride and get a bus which stops just around the corner to the college. Worth a wander in the Fellows garden in the grounds.
I can recommend Christ's College
The setting and experience was fantastic and the porters were very welcoming and cheerful. One downside was the breakfast because they seemed a little understaffed, but otherwise good. The other problem was the noise in the street from drunks, which kept me awake.
Basic but friendly accommodation
Friendly staff at check in, a bit of a walk to the accommodation from check in, basic accommodation. Ask for an internal facing room if you don’t want to be kept awake by pub goers and traffic outside, as the windows appear to be only single glazed. Over the Christmas break the only rooms available are in the modern block, with shared bathrooms and facing onto a busy street
Helpful and accommodating staff. Basic room, but perfectly acceptable for the price. Wonderfully central location. Thank you!
Keep the right expectation: students accommodation
Do remember this is a dormitory NOT a hotel. The student moves out of the room and the college puts in soap and other amenities including a kettle. It is very basic but fit for human comfort. The Lodge Porters are delightful and welcoming but the organisation is minimal. The breakfast costs £12, which I thought expensive for cafeteria food. Better off going into town to a fun place. Also there was absolutely NO INTERNET working all weekend long. The porters could not help because the college IT man was not back until Monday.
this is student lodging, which is very basic. The room was large, but the bathroom is down the hall, and shared. Excellent central location. Very helpful porter.
Great location. Porters were very helpful and stored my luggage until room was ready. Approximate 20 minute walk from the train station. Had the basics in the room, but that was all i needed.
No heating; small duvet. Uncomfortable night
The Uni Student Experience
Perfect accommodation to explore central Cambridge. Most attractions were in short walking distance. The college porters were very friendly and helpful. Beautiful campus.
Very nice accommodation and staff.Beautiful courtyards / gardens
Unique and quaint place to stay Great location and rooms were good size Bathroom (shared) kept very clean
Very friendly staff. Clean rooms, would have liked tv, but otherwise lovely stay. Breakfast terrific
.Its beautiful and laden with history The porters are friendly and helpful.
We really enjoyed the proximity to the centre of Cambridge. The property was also very beautiful, the breakfast was excellent and the porters were pleasant and helpful.
College dorm at a beautiful college
I came to Cambridge en route to somewhere else to meet my publisher and friends. So I stayed for one night. The location is perfect, at the center. The college grounds are beautiful and meticulously trimmed. The ancient quads are full of charm. On the other hand, this is a student dorm so the furniture was not top of the line and the bathroom was not as clean as it should have been. The management cannot do anything about the facilities, but the cleaning should have been much better. The porters were polite and helpful.
Cambridge Christ College
A wonderful place to stay right in the middle of everything. The porters were very helpful highlighting key locations. Even with a shared bathroom, there was no difficulty accessing it. A little noisy in the evening with street noise, but everything was quiet by 10ish. No TV in the residence rooms, but wifi/internet reception was excellent.
It is centrally located and within walking distance of, close to a bus (in case of rain) to the train station, as well.
Beautiful place to stay. Room was clean and spacious. Staff are very helpful and nice.Right in the main city with shops, bars, restaurants and lots to do on your doorstep. Thank you loved my stay here
Excellent. Student room with ensuite. Cleana dn comfortable for a 1 night stay
Great budget option for central Cambridge
