Great location and wonderful hotel. Will come back for sure.
It was so wonderful to stay in the heart of Edinburgh! We walked everywhere! There was also easy transportation for the members of our party who could not walk as much!
Location was great. Easy walk from train station. Walked to several landmark areas and shopping. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Loved our room!
Immaculate Hotel
Excellent location, immaculately clean, extremely well run, polite and efficient staff, beautiful rooms
I felt Hotel staff is very hospitality.
Amazing property great location and wonderful for families
Superb aparthotel , our room on third floor was fantastic , two bathrooms upstairs and downstairs and good kitchen diner , problem with TVs but didn’t go to Edinburgh to watch tv !! The breakfast was excellent , great staff throughout from a warm welcome when we arrived greeting us at the taxi and front desk and restaurant and the room was very clean on arrival and cleaned each day of our 3 night visit. The location is absolutely out of this world in the old town opposite StGiles Cathedral where our beloved Queen lay in rest , and the castle is 5 minute walk away Thank you Chevsl Team you were incredible and really made our visit unforgettable, we will come back I’m certain and our friends and family will receive my recommendation to stay with you
Great Stay in Old Town
The location of the hotel is absolutely perfect for seeing sights. We stayed in a luxury three bedroom and the space was wonderful. The staff was incredibly helpful and kind!
Cheval Old Town Chambers is in a great location in the heart of the Royal Mile. Our apartment was spacious and very pretty with beautiful views of the city. The front desk was very helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend staying here and hope to come back!
The room had been recently refurbished and it was very modern and clean. It had a couch and kitchenette that made it feel like home!
Loved it! Our room didn't have a washer/dryer, but the hotel offered to do the laundry if we needed it. Otherwise, the room was nice: comfortable bed, good sized bathroom. Not much storage for clothes if you like to unpack for longer stays. But the mini-kitchen was nice to have. The location is brilliant. Most of the tours we did (including a ghost tour and castle tour) meet right across the street at the St. Giles church. It's a very walkable location - near Princess St., Victoria St., the Grassmarket area etc... And the staff was wonderful, very helpful. The food at the restaurant, Lockenbooths was pretty good. Not the best - our breakfast was cold but dinner was good. It's convenient if nothing else. I would definitely stay here again.
VERY disappointed. Our two apartments were in a completely separate building. Never disclosed to us. Two guest over 70 years old had to walk outside in rain and wind and climb multiple interior and exterior steps just to go to breakfast or lobby. Staff refused to arrange airport transfer, Just gave us website of provider. Never experienced that before with a "quality" hotel. Did the same thing with restaurant reservations. Just a list of more than a dozen places. Had to push for help with a simple reservation. No housekeeping at all one day. Bad other days. One hand and bath towel for two people. No bath mat, tissue or other basics. Great location and quaint but layout is outright dangerous and service needs a lot of attention.
The staff at the hotel were exceptional, always smiling and ready to help. The rooms were spacious and clean. Breakfast was excellent and the location was prime.
Great hotel and friendly staff..ask for apt 703 for the optimal view of new Edinburgh.
Do not stay
Issues with heat not heating completely up for first 2 days and no hot water downstairs when they cleaned room on Boxing Day didn’t leave toilet paper or tissues downstairs also the next day didn’t leave tissue or paper towels at kitchen Washer dryer didn’t work well had to dry clothes on hangers Left bad review on google and the next morning all heat and hot water turned off I spent a lot of money on this room and was highly disappointed with how it was
Loved my customer service experience!
We enjoyed this day better than probably any we’ve ever had. We got one of the apartments in the back of the property, and it was phenomenal! It had a balcony overlooking the royal mile. It also had a full kitchen, washer dryer. Very easy to control the temperature with the Heater as well as the windows that opened. The bathroom was immaculate! I can’t say more about how amazing our week was!
Wonderful Stay!
I can't recommend Cheval Old Town Chambers enough! The location was perfect, and central to everything. Staff were so kind and helpful. Very comfortable accommodations.
We stayed for our honeymoon over Christmas and they left some champagne and treats for us. Very thoughtful staff and incredibly clean. Loved staying here!
Wonderful hotel staff location. Perfect stay.
Third time staying at this hotel, and each time was better than the last. Absolutely loved our room and the hotel is in perfect location
Excellent
Another wonderful stay at the Old Town Chambers. Marvellous staff, lovely room and central to all amenities.
Such a beautiful cozy place & great location!
5 star stay
We only stayed the one night but everything else was exceptional. We stayed with two dogs and the staff could not have been more welcoming. I will definitely be back for future stays - worth the price tag!
This property is wonderful. The customer service, comfort, cleanliness, food, atmosphere and everything else was 5 star. I’ve stayed in many places in Edinburgh but this is by far the best location. Do not hesitate to stay at Cheval properties.
Excellent stay, very comfortable, extremely central
Great location on the Royal Mile, easily walkable to all the Old Town and New Town attractions
Located in the old town, Royal mile area of the city only a stones throw away from Waverley Station. Very welcoming staff on reception made for a great stay in clean, modernised apartment with all amenities available. Look forward to returning in the near future and would definitely recommend.
Magnificent stay - hotel is stunning, perfect location. Staff are all so friendly and helpful! Rooms are gorgeous & beds super comfy!
Unique property. They’re in every detail from the moment you walk in. Clean, organized and just marvelous place to stay in. They have all you need. Particularly the washer/dryer just made my trip easier. Loved the decoration all over the hotel
Top draw place and staff 10 out of 10 be good if there was a resident bar as couldn’t get a spot for a quick nightcap
Fantastic property....very comfortable and enjoyable stay. Would recommend!
Excellent location. Great service friendly staff clean and good communications.
Awesome location and wonderful property
Ok for location
Staff was amazing. Missing items in the kitchen. Bathroom was not cleaned well. Trash was not emptied prior. But property was quiet and comfortable
Great place. Immaculate rooms. Clean and spacious studios with nice ceilings.
We loved our stay as a family of four. Very nice and clean.
Very good location, gorgeous room
We loved our stay it! It was magical! We had a great view of St Giles and the staff was all very friendly!
Fabtastic location with a great space. Would have been perfect if the washer/dryer had worked.
Staff was very helpful. Breakfast was amazing and rooms were clean and welcoming. The only thing that we didn’t like was that we could hear noisy drunk people late at night.
Classy and organized. Well stocked kitchen.
Staff was friendly and accomating, and our room was comfortable and clean. Couldn’t ask for more!
Great locational
Wonderful Stay
First of all, we were upgraded to a beautiful 3BR 3BA apartment. The staff were gracious, and overall loved the property. If you wanted to be on the Royal Mile, this location was perfect.
Friendly helpful staff, rooms are very nice
Amazing rooms. Amazing location. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. Restaurant attached to hotel is also excellent. Overall highly recommended
Hard to communicate with front desk. We have to send a request through email. This hotel is not wheelchair accessible and hallway is dark and hard to find the room. Its like a maze. Its very unique. Location is excellent. Staff are nice. The room is clean and huge. There’s a kitchen, laundry machine and fridge.
Comforts in Edinburgh
The room was better than expected and was very comfortable. I would happily stay here again on my next visit to Edinburgh.
Unrivalled location in the heart of Edinburgh
An amazing location right in the centre of everything, a fabulous luxury apartment kitted out with everything you need, the comfiest beds top quality finish.
Super great location. Close to everything. Easy to get to transportation if needed.
Our room was wonderful and the location is very convenient.
Great hotel
We had a room on one of the lanes and it was very noisy at 2-4am. Shame as it’s a great hotel. Would only go back if I got a different room.
The washer and dryer made the entire room shake and was ridiculously loud … safety railings really should be near the tub to assist getting out of tub . Said there was air conditioning and there was none room was too warm otherwise was very nice
An excellent location in the heart of Old Town. Many shopping and dining options within a 10-15 minute walk. The apartment was very clean and comfortable for our 6-night stay. I will definitely consider the Cheval Old Town Chambers the next time I visit Edinburgh.
THE best location possible. Steps to the castle and everything you want. Hotel is super clean. You’re directly across from St Giles church and not many cars up here at hotel because street is made for walking around. Great beds and quality soap in showers. Bedding is great, blankets great and mattresses were the best we’ve had on our 3 country trip. Staff walked us to our rooms and carried our luggage. Lots of steps in Edinburgh- but if you stay on the street it’s easier with luggage. 5 minute walk to Waverly station so you can do a day trip to St Andrews. Room was stocked with tea and snacks and that was a wonderful touch.
I liked staying at Cheval because it was in the middle of all the sites that we wanted to see. Beautiful place to stay and very courteous people at the front desk. Always said good morning when we were going out for the day and said welcome back when we came back for the day. I would stay there again for sure
The stay is lovely but the hotel is under staff, keep in mind to save more time for check out.
Excellent hotel
Excellent hotel and great location!
Excellent property and location!
The staff here were very nice and accommodating, the breakfast was delicious so I recommend including it with your stay. We had a lovely view and the apartment was well equipped.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, would happily stay again and highly recommend. Fantastic service from all the staff we dealt with. Thank you so much.
Fabulous Old Town Apt
The apartment was fabulous. Very spacious, modern and comfortable with all the amenities you could need. Everything was spotless and there was a daily housekeeping service. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.
The hotel is in a great location and the staff is very pleasant. They gave us a free upgraded apartment which was magnificent!
Great hotel in a great location. Perfect for longer stays with an adequately stocked kitchen. Close to tourists spots and directly on the Royal Mile.
The cheval old town chambers are in an excellent location. Feels like a hotel, but with the luxury of having space. We travelled as a family of 5, so having some living space and separate bedrooms and bathrooms was ideal. Reception staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room looked onto a courtyard which made it nice and peaceful for a city centre location. The apartment was clean and well maintained. I was also surprised that it was serviced daily. Would recommend and would stay here again.
Good location. Rooms comfortable with useful amenities. Noisy at night on the weekend.
Amazing location. Steps from royal mile. The apartment was very pretty, and the view from the balcony was incredible. Unfortunately the room has practically 0 storage space for clothes. One very narrow closet, and an equally narrow and almost offensive drawer on the floor below it. Also the sliding pocket door for the bathroom kept sliding open. Overall a great stay, but not without it's faults.
First time to stay at property. Great location and very helpful front desk.
Amazing and fabulous. Highly recommend a room with a balcony where you can absorb the sights and sounds of the spectacular city during morning and night. My biggest surprise was the complentary bicycle rental. There are scenic trails up and around Arthur's Seat that are worth discovering.
Edinburgh Gem
Perfect location on Royal Mile. Great apartment setup, well appointed. Comfortable and clean. This area requires lots of walking and lots of steps. Can be challenging according to your fitness level. Luxury comes at a premium. Well worth it.
Our experience at the Cheval Old Town Chambers was almost perfect. The accommodations were immaculate and we appreciated the extra touches such as milk in our refrigerator and biscuits for our tea. Great location and ample space in our well furnished room. Worth considering, specially if you have grown children. The only disappointing part of our stay was Luckenbooths, the hotel restaurant. From the extremely rude reception from a male employee at the entrance to his unwillingness to seat us at a window table because it needed to be cleaned (we would have waited and were not given the option - just told no), the restaurant left a lot to be desired and was inconsistent with the rest of the hotel staff and our general experience. Do not work in the hospitality industry if you greet customers waiting to be seated at the entrance of an eatery with an annoyed ‘do you want something?’ What else could we possibly want? A dance around the lobby?
Lovely, spacious 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment. Perfect for our family of 4. Kitchen was an asset. Great location.
Very spacious and clean. The hotel is literally right on the royal mile which was great. The staff was very accommodating and the space was beautiful.
Great experience.
The room and amenities were excellent . Very comfortable bed and we made use of the washer/drying during our stay. Included breakfast was very good, and staff was friendly.
You can't ask for anything better
This is a wonderful hotel. We will definitely stay here on future trips. The location is ideal and the employees so responsive. Then beds were super comfortable, I just wish they offered a top sheet in addition to the duvet for the weird Americans that are used to that. I'm sure we could have asked for one. We just loved our suite. Top choice
These apartment-style rooms are fabulous after a long day of walking around. They’re very homey and super comfortable. Wish I could find similar styles in other cities.
Very spacious apartment with all the comforts. Excellent staff
Parking is horrible, and be prepared to walk a lot of stairs with your luggage! Other than that you just can’t beat the location!
Great location for High st and Castle. Room was spacious but dirty. Not vacuumed large dust bunnies? made me feel uncomfortable about hygiene. appliances did not work. Washing machine/dryer not working properly. Noisy back ally below window. Loud drunk people at night. Would not stay here again. Poor value for the price charged.
The hotel staff was super helpful, friendly and accommodating. Having a washer in our room was a huge bonus and the central location of the hotel made it easy to get around all of Edinburgh.
Being where it is there should be more money used of sound proofing. Everything was lovely apart from the awful street noise and extra loud buskers
Perfect hotel for our last night in Scotland!
Absolutely gorgeous stay for our last night in Scotland! The view from the balcony was nice, but the comfort of the beds was beyond amazing! The location on the Royal Mile was very convenient, and there were two parking garages within easy walking distance (even with luggage). Highly recommend!
Wonderful stay. Hotel is steps away from all local attractions. Rooms were clean and well stocked. Highly recommend
The Chevalier felt like being at a luxury home in the center of historic Edinburgh. The rooms were large and well kept and easily accommodated 5 Adults. I really appreciated the laundry facilities in our room and the views of New Town were absolutely stunning.
Excellent service
The flat was perfect with new appliances and fittings. It was spacious, light and clean. The staff on duty during check in were helpful, efficient and friendly. As people in their mid sixties who need reading glasses, my husband and I struggled to open all the doors with the code provided. Standing outside in the dark trying to punch in the code was a hassle every time. While doing this we met two other couples our age having trouble doing the same thing. I find a key card much easier. Overall we had a great stay and would return.
Overall i love staying at the Cheval apartments. Wonderfully located both locations, St Andrew’s Square & On the Royal Mile. Decor beautiful and comfort perfect, the price is a little steep, unless an offer is found.
Excellent
Another fantastic stay at the Old Town Chambers. Wonderful staff and a sublime apartment.
Staff is friendly and helpful, location is fabulous!
In the heart of Edinburgh tourist attractions.
Extremely comfortable property steps away from St Giles on the Royal Mile. Couldn’t have asked for a better location within walking distance of great restaurants and multiple historical sites. Very friendly and helpful staff. Loved having a washing machine in our unit!
We had a wonderful time exploring the city and county side
Absolutely fabulous location, and great rooms. The staff were unbelievably helpful and the restaurant attached to the hotel was great. I would recommend this hotel every time. We really like the fact that it was a loft that we stayed in and it had a kitchen. Really really great, and we travel all over the world so we were pleasantly surprised.
Nice modernized property in historic building in old town. Only issue was accessibility to property by car due to pedestrianization if street outside. Only accessible from one end. Not clear when booking.
Exceeded expectations
Room was not ready on time (they were apologetic) and getting a ride to the airport at the end of our stay seemed a difficult task for the front desk. Ultimately, we called an Uber ourselves. Room, location and on site restaurant were excellent.

Ruined my birthday weekend!
We are extremely disappointed with this hotel/company! :( My boyfriend had booked me a weekend away to Edinburgh for my birthday as I've always wanted to go. My birthday also falls on Burns night, so we were super excited to experience that too! However, due to the horrific storms in Edinburgh, our flights were cancelled Friday night and we were unable to get to Scotland (we looked into trains etc but all were cancelled too). We booked this apartment with Hotels.com who I called straight away and explained the situation, they then called the company who own this apartment who point blank said no. The Hotels.com agent then asked to speak to the manager, who also gave a hard no. I feel extremely let down that I was offered absolutely nothing in return from this hotel, considering my birthday plans were all ruined and our flights had all been cancelled. I totally understand that cancellation policies are in place for a reason, but a humanly gesture of good will would have gone a long way considering the circumstances
