Beautiful old structure, just a bit tired. Easy check-in by self. We stayed in the Panoramic King Size Room, great view of the Chateau....but...the mattress needs to go, rolling coil, not good. Toilet seat didn't match, I mean in size, smaller than toilet, very odd. I like that they had a kitchen on the lower level, so if you wanted to fix something up. We did not so we don't know the extent. It was very clean, so that is positive.
This was NOT a hotel!!! There was NO staff on property and they could not be reached upon arrival. They had an "assistance" button you could push but all that did was call a phone number where no one answered. I left a message and asked them to call me or text me; 3 hours later-nothing. I tried texting them- nothing. Finally I emailed them and 2 hours later I got a reply which did not answer my question which was where to park. There wasNO i info inside the hotel except a sheet telling us how to enter our room. There were no maps (they put maps out the last day we were there) and no info whatsoever. There was no closet- just rack hanging over the only chair in the room, so if you sat down your face was covered by the clothes you hung up. The sink was in the room. The toilet and miniscule shower were in a tiny enclosure. The bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. Worst place I have ever stayed. Like a hostel.
The hotel was in a great location. It was quiet. The staff addressed our concerns with the tv and coffeemaker.
The good: great location, friendly helpful off-site staff. The bad: our room was in terrible condition, very old stained and tattered carpet, broken closet door, tap that ran all the time, ripped bedding and drapes, broken lamps, and the worst part is mold in the shower everywhere. General condition in the lobby etc was also poor. I’m not sure how they are getting great reviews, maybe some of the rooms are better. We did chat with another couple that were also very shocked at the condition.
Excellent location
It was cozy room and location was great to do sightseeing. Everything works well in the room, well maintained. Loved using code instead of carrying keys. We had issue at parking on Friday, took us a while to find open space, but that was such a small issue. We enjoyed stay and visiting beautiful town.
The condition of the room was poor with electeical cables trailing all over - I am sure it would not meet electeical safety specs. The balcony was unusable due to a large portable air conditioner in front of the window. The window was cracked and the curtains coming off the rail. The bathroom was tiny any you had to have the shower door open to sit on the toilet! There is no staff at the property and no effort was made to contact us during our stay. It is in a very convenient location and a nice building but our room was extremely disappointing and poor value.
Historic District property with molding, wallpaper, no elevator - a good old fashioned hotel. Lots of stuff only 3 blocks away -- but it's a steep hill. There's a kitchen downstairs that you can use (please clean up afterwards!) and my room had a cool 3-headed shower. A pleasurable experience!
Wonderful hotel with all of the quaint charm of Old Quebec City, but with all of the upgrades of the 21st century. Bed was amazingly comfortable.
Wonderful quaint hotel with all the charm of Old Quebec City with the upgrades of 21st century. Bed was amazingly comfortable. Very happy with our accommodations.
Lovely stay. The room was lovely decorated in old world style. Nice and clean and quiet. Could see Chateau Frontenac from the window. On a quiet street.
The toilet seat is half broken. The rest is good.
We chose this property for the convenience of being able to walk everywhere within the gates however it was certainly not worth the amount we paid. There were no staff on site and when we did call regarding the tv not working they said they would check it out but never did. There was carpet in our room which was very old, wrinkled, and stained, no glasses, a half roll of toilet paper and no tissue. The whole place seemed dirty. The kitchen was a major mess. So much potential with the property but a major disappointment.
I was reserved this hotel when i get there it was self checked in & out and inside very old place and room was up stairs and i was looking for the parking places for the over night but i couldn't find it spot so i decided to not sleep there so i lost the 1 night accomendetion fee
Beautiful old building in a lovely, quiet neighborhood, perfectly located near the river and Chateau Frontenac. The room and the bathroom were both very small. It was nice to have access to the basement kitchen, but it could be better stocked (no coffee maker, cereal bowls were hard to find).
Location is very good.
Room was a disaster roof had big patch wallpaper were coming off , washroom door wasn’t closing. Went there with my family and when addressed there issues to staff they said they dnt have any other room all they can do is refund the money and also told me that they are over booked and can eventually sell the room . Worst customer service, they know its long weekend and everything is sold out just taking advantage of people.
Not for elderly. No elwvators.
It was ok to store luggage in kitchen I’m basement. And I think check in time should be earlier. I was expecting a call when room was ready for an earlier check in. Not a good place for elderly that have to take stairs with heavy luggage. No lift or helpful hands around as it is self check in.
Quaint, great location
No parking lot and elevator but owner will send few public parking options. Room is tidy and clean, location is good for walking around.
Wonderful location.
This property was a huge disappointment. I always check reviews before booking and there is no way this property warrants a 4 much less a 5. I give it a 2 and only because the location was great. There is no onsite manager and no front desk. The entrance to the “hotel” is dark and dingy. The room is worse. The carpets were stained and stretched…a tripping hazard. There was no hair dryer. There was only 1/2 a roll of toilet paper with no extra in the cupboard or drawer. The security chain was broken. There were no glasses, not even cardboard or plastic in the room and only 2 small espresso type cups. I had to text my complaint about the hair dryer and toilet paper and then had to wait until 10am the next morning for the items to be delivered. I have always used Expedia and I have trusted their reviews. NOT ANY MORE! For $300 a night I will look elsewhere for flights and accommodation in the future.
must be one of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in. What is most frustrating is paying $300 for this standard of hotel. I don’t care that you are in Old City, the location does not make up for it. The doors don’t close properly, you can’t see the key lock until you start pressing numbers, the bathroom is minuscule. The wallpaper, curtains, paint and decor are so old you are not sure if it is only old or also unclean. There is a damp smell and obvious past water problem damage on the ceiling. The AC was useless and didn’t work properly. I really, really hesitate to give bad reviews. I know people are trying to work hard for a living. This was an absolute waste of money.
The checking in process was so easy and being to text with the host was also awesome. We will definitely be back . Thanks to Virginie
Location great, hotel outdated!
Location couldn’t have been better. It’s minutes away from the boardwalk and Chateau and in a very charming part of the Old town. Quebec City is overall very hilly though so be prepared for some steep climbs. The building itself is charming and with character. However…. - The hotel itself felt neglected. It was very shabby and in need of a cosmetic uplift. The hallway carpets were very badly stained with what looked like white paint, the paint was peeling and everything looked very tired. Also, the first thing visible when we opened our room was a torn bed skirt that was hanging off the bed. - The contactless check in was fairly seamless but felt very impersonal. We didn’t see a single staff member during our stay. Surely it wouldn’t take much to have somebody there for a few hours during peak check in time. I imagine contactless check in would be fairly daunting for elderly guests or those who are not tech savvy. - Cleanliness was ok but attention to detail was lacking. Dirty window wells etc. - Strange layout in our 3rd floor room. Glass door going through to sink area and a very noisy wooden sliding partition to separate the toilet and shower area. Very outdated. Air conditioning - in our 3rd floor room did not work. We used a portable fan. Beds - no complaints. All this aside we had a good stay and loved Quebec City. This hotel could really be quite special with more care and attention but right now it kinda feels like it’s had it’s day - a long time ago!!
Perfect base to explore old Quebec. Everywhere is a less than 1km walk. Staff were very helpful. Ease of check-in. Though the room is old it is very well-maintained. Strong water pressure in the shower. Toilet flush felt it was going to overflow but did not. We also liked that there was a shared kitchen. There is no parking attached to the booking but they gave us 3 options where to park in the area. Overall very happy to book this place.
Location was great but parking a bit tricky.
👍Nice hotel in a historical building within walking distance to main city attractions. 👎There is no one at the reception and check-in is virtual. It's probably okay when everything works as expected but we had an issue with entering our room (the code didn't work) and I couldn't reach for support as my mobile didn't have voice calls in the roaming. It would be less stressful if there was a way to reach out for help from within the hotel. Also there is room for improvement in terms of cleanliness. It's not bad overall but seeing someone's hair on a pillow puts me off.
Beautiful hotel for the price. Excellent location. Had a great stay.
Excellent location in a quiet neighborhood. Perfect place to be close to stores and restaurants but without a lot of foot traffic. Felt very safe and loved sitting in the nearby park to soak in the atmosphere. Hotel is old and without an elevator but was quiet and secured by an outside security keypad. We came via train and the walk is doable but uphill! However walk instead of drive through the city so you don’t miss any of the charm! We will definitely return!
Perfect location for walking around in Old Quebec. Beautiful area with lots of parks, sights and places to visit!
The property is centrally located and closed to everything. But the property is very old and beats up, it needed to renovate. We stayed in the family room for 4 nights. The bathroom is super tiny, the entire bathroom including shower is only the size of a full size bed. The exhaust fan is not working. We reported the problem in the first day. Each time we called, the front desk would said that someone will be scheduled to come to fix the next day mornings. But nothing is fixed or any room changed for the entire duration. We were very disappointed. I would not recommend anyone for this hotel.
I totally enjoyed my 11 night stay here at Le Chateau de Pierre in May 2024. The location is fantastic. I was able to walk everywhere, even with a broken foot. However, there is a hill to reach the hotel & there is no elevator with it being a historic building. There’s also a lip you need to walk over for the 2 doors to get in the building. The room was larger than I expected; the bathroom was a little snug, not a complaint, just info for others. The furnishings are quaint. The bed was very comfortable. The WiFi was excellent. The hallways are adorable. I was apprehensive with no staff being here but found the check-in/-out process to be simple & non-problemic. The pre-visit communication from the staff is excellent. I didn’t need to contact them at all during my stay. The area is very quiet. Obviously, the hotel is only as quiet as the other guests allow it to be, which varied during my staff. People need to remember sounds do carry in a “house” like this. The cleaning staff was very quiet & thorough. Yay! The Kitchen in the basement with a full-sized fridge, microwave , range/oven is a nice bonus. It’s fully stocked with utensils, dishes, cups, spices, tea/coffee & pots/pans. There are extra toiletries (shampoo, bar soap, shower gel & sometimes hand lotion) as well as towels. There is a small fridge & coffee maker in the room. I would definitely recommend this hotel & stay here again.
The location is perfect! The room is well appointed and the bed was comfortable. The shower is new and gorgeous. We had two issues during our overnight stay. Upon arrival, the key code we’d been given didn’t work. I called the phone number for the hotel and received voicemail so I left a message. After waiting 10 minutes I called again…Success! I spoke to someone who said that there was an issue that day with the key code and she gave me a new one. The other issue was with the coffee maker…couldn’t get it to work. I found a kettle in the basement kitchen and made tea. Despite these things, we really enjoyed this charming hotel.
Great location, clean, comfortable, easy check-in. I will be back.
I liked there is a share kitchen at basement
I understand that the hotel is supposed to give a classic appearance but seriously the hotel needs to be maintained in a better condition. The parking availability was horrendous (which there was None at all). I had to park outside in the street and ended up with a parking ticket and a flat tire (which was caused by someone slashing my tire). It was truly a headache specially knowing that there was no one in the reception area to help us.
Comfortable beds. Enjoyed having a kitchen for my needs. The rugs could use a shampoo.
Great place
The room is too wet for me. Especially when they arrange me at the basement in the beginning.
very good location.
Great location in the heart of Old Quebec. Easily walkable to everything! The hotel is a very old and charming self-serve inn. Do not stay here if you're a "needy" patron: need help with technology, directions, or need brand-new modern accommodations. C16 was lovely, comfortable. Shower is inside sleeping space with separate toilet closet. Shower is a multi-spray unit, evidence management is trying to retro fit modern luxuries in a centuries old inn.
I like the kitchen
Everything closet
The character of this property is fantastic. The linen and towels were clean and sufficient. The pods for AM espresso were lovely as were the creamers left in the fridge. The kitchen in the basement is equipped should you want to prep a snack with the ingredients you provide. The carpets are very well used in the rooms. It’s well priced for the location.
Lovely stay. Very convenient. Walkable to restaurants and attractions
Everything is 10/10, except the restroom. It’s way too cramped for the unit that I’ve stayed, you just have to find ways to sit for your business. It was really uncomfortable experience. But like I mentioned other factors are 10/10.
Excellent location
Great
The only thing i do not like is that property does not have elevator. I was on third floor, stairs are long and small. No reception, and feel unsecured. No keys, just an access code for main entry and other for room.
My only complaint about the hotel was that when I booked the room I requested a room on the main floor so that I would not have to carry my bags upstairs as I am 74 years old and hauling bags upstairs is difficult. When we arrived we found our room was on the lower floor but that was basically in the basement and there was a number of stairs we had to carry our bags down which meant they had to go back up the day we left. Other than that we enjoyed the stay very much.
The location was excellent and communication for access was very good. However bed was terrible, definitely needs to be replaced. Bathroom had hair in tub, and inside bathroom door had accumulated dirt on ridges. Room was very hot, and window had no screen. Good kitchen area in basement, but coffee machine in room was not usuable. Ambience of hotel for area was quaint, but probably would.not book again.
Beautiful boutique hotel within minutes of Frontenac hotel and Boardwalk.
Only downfall is no elevator but we knew that.
Staff helped me figure out parking and how to enter room. Super helpful! Excited to explore in the morning.
Found garbage on the floor when we arrived, just threw it out. I wasn't sure about the cleaning schedule, so I asked the cleaning staff member if she could bring us fresh towels. She did bring us towels and did a light clean. My husband's 3/4bottle of Whiskey magically disappeared from our room that same day. Disappointing that this happened. The location of the facility was very convenient, we walked everywhere the time we spent in Old Quebec.
Only complaint was the initial code I was given for bedroom door didn’t work. After calling stating the problem a new code was given to me and problem resolved. After a very long day not being able to open the bedroom door was disappointing. Otherwise all was fine.
They lost my reservation and then after much turmoil let us in the room. There is no manager on the property. We never heard back from them. We're here totally unaware of what in the hell the score is. We paid and would have canceled if they hadn't after hours let us in. There are no people in this hotel to talk to!
Wonderful property
Property is like a European pension, no staff no service, no F and B, just rooms with a code to get into the building (with no staff on hand) and room cleaning only every other day. Very basic, and not suitable for business.
We loved how convenient and walkable it was to the Old City, The Citadel and the Plains of Abraham
It is perfect. Perfect for location and ability to walk everywhere. Comfortable bed. Very clean!
This place is very close to everything, feet away from Citadel, shops, restaurants and more. Very convenient location. I will stay here again on my next trip to Quebec City
Staff were very helpful with the parking situation
The property was good but small even our room was very small, other than that staff is excellent, area around the hotel is adorable
Amazing! Very welcoming.
Perfect for staying and going around the old Quebec. Quite and clean. Wish to come here again 😀
Comfortable bed, nice bathroom, quiet location. Check in process by email and text was a bit excessive though.
A nice spot to stay and close to everything
Cute little hotel very very close to the main boardwalk. Nice spacious room lots of fresh towels and toiletries available. Good a/c! Strange not having someone on site but was to easily contact service people thru email for help. It is very hot in lobby and stairwells makes going up to rooms uncomfortable during hot days. Didn’t know there wasn’t an elevator available( don’t recall any mention on website). They could use a lobby area bathroom. Kitchenette area is convenient but perhaps water can be made available in fridge or at least in mini room fridges. Overall a cute little place to stay with great views and super super close to everything!
Very good place. No staff on site but you can call them and they're available and professional. You have to do the check in online to get door and room code access.
Loved this little hotel. It was close to everything in Old Town, but a block off the busy traffic so very quiet. The shared kitchen in the basement was a plus so that we could get takeout and have somewhere to eat it other than our room, and it was stocked with everything we would need should we have wanted to cook a small meal to save $. We would definitely stay here again!
Such a cute place to stay. Loved it!
It was strange note having any hotel staff at the front or onsite. I didn’t see any staff for my whole stay. Property was easy to find and clean.
Room was small but fine and clean. Bathroom was tiny and uncomfortable. It is in middle of old Quebec city so very good location. Main problem was AC unit not working. It turns on but doesn't blow air. Windows are locked so can't open and there were no on-site property staff. After a tiring day, imagine getting into a hot room. We came back late and by the time we reported the issue, no one was there to respond.
It had all the necessary features. The room could use a bit of a refresher. The window unit AC meant that the curtains had to stay open to feel it. A wall unit would be much more practical and energy efficient. I was exceptionally impressed with the messaging and chat customer service. Very responsive. Shower was awesome, bed comfortable.
Great location
For the owners only, not for publication: We miss the personalized on-site staff, morning breakfast, and a staff person who knows the available parking better. We were also surprised to discover our bathroom opened directly into the main hall via a sink cabinet door around the public ice machine. We could have waved at ice collectors from the toilet. We have happily stayed in the old town every 1-3 years over the past 55 years and, most recently, have preferred this spot. Our experience with the above noted items made this recent visit, with the exception of very good beds, a disappointing stay.
It was a good experience
The location was great.
The hotel is in a fabulous location (right behind the Chateau Frontenac) for exploring Old Quebec City. The kitchen downstairs is will supplied to make a meal, however grocery stores are hard to come by in the area. I found one called “Epecerie Richard” a few blocks away which bare minimal items. The place is small, but cosy and welcoming after a hard day of travel or exploring. The codes are straightforward and easy to do. If you need to text the owners they respond quickly.
Cute hotel with old style. Very good location. Easy walking distance to the popular attractions.
Incredible location right beside the Chateau Frontenac. Super close to all the must see sights in Old Quebec. Full kitchen in basement available for guest use. No staff on site, check-in is all online, doors are managed through passcodes, assistance, could be requested easily through text/phone. Room itself is small, as expected. There is a mini fridge and a TV. Heating difficult to figure out - we ended up having to use portable electric heater, which was available at the hotel for guest use. Shower temperature only good for one person at a time (should wait around 30 to 45 minutes before next person if want hot water). Beds were harder, but not uncomfortable. Walls were thin and easy to hear outside/other rooms. Overall would recommend for the perfect location and very reasonable price point.
Good location. There was a terrible burning smell in the building and room when i arrived. Smelled like someone was smoking and then tried to cover the smell by burning something else. Dissipated by second day, but still annoying.
Asking $20 for a 1 hour late check out is insulting after a 3 night stay. Small bugs in the bed blanket, had to call to get it replaced. Place is ok for the price but I wouldn’t go back or recommend.
The place is very clean. The location is near restaurant’s and the places to visit in Old Quebec. The love that there is a shared kitchen in the basement that you can use for eating or cooking.
The chateau had character and style. The staff were quick to respond to questions or needs. It was well located and close to amenities. Lovely place.
Great location!! The service was great, always assisting us with any questions or concerns. Quick check in and check out process
Location is great! Rooms are quaint and lovely. Bed could have been a smidge comfier. But we have no complaints. We would stay again!
Près de tout, très propre et la vue sur le balcon est magnifique!
We had a very enjoyable stay at Chateau de Pierre. We loved it's uniqueness and it's location. The room was clean, beds were comfortable and we stepped out the door and were able to walk to everywhere. We look forward to our next stay.
Great location. No parking on site and I had difficulty finding an open parking garage.
Chateau Pierre was a quaint charming boutique style property stay. Very old Quebec style which we expected and admired. But i must say they need to invest in alittle more comfortable mattresses n pillows, lol. After all the walking you do in upper n lower towns of Quebec n sightseeing, u really need comfort n rest. The location was perfect and it was amazing, Le Chateau Frontenac was just a few steps away. A wonderful experience staying in old town Quebec.
Great place to stay!
Great authentic hotel in the heart of Old Quebec. We normal stay in chain hotels but decided to stay here. The location was great, the virtual check in and communication great and helpful. Clean and nicely kept for a old hotel.
Really enjoyed the property. Didn’t enjoy checking in as it was confusing to have so many codes and no one at property to assist. However phone assistance was excellent. Location was wonderful.
Amazing location in Old City! There is no on-site staff but staff is very responsive through texting and helpful. There is a full kitchen in the basement with all the appliances if you don’t want to eat every meal out…great alternative. Parking is a little challenging, a suggestion would be to drop off one person with the luggage at the hotel versus parking and everyone walking…if your bags are heavy it can be a chore, lol. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and recommend highly.
Great “boutique “ hotel. We highly recommend it!
Great location. Did not clean room first night. TV did not work and no trash barrel in room. Fixed TV and rash barrel quickly.
I think the property was exactly what we expected for the price in Old Quebec. Clean, older building. Close to parking, close to everything.
Chateau de Pierre was an excellent place to stay in the heart of Old Quebec. Communication was great and very easy. Such a convenient area to explore everywhere. The room for the three of us was fine. I felt like I was back in time. The kitchen was great for staying more than a night which I hope to do in the future. The courtyard was very quiet at night and a nice place to relax after a busy day. I hope to go back there again and would definitely recommend this place to others!!
View from the balcony is beyond beautiful, I will choose this hotel again for my next Quebec City trip
