1night stopover
This is a quiet chateau with simple gardens. It has rooms in the Chatteau and the Orangery. We stayed in the Orangery. The room was a fair size and quite well appointed. The bathroom had been renovated to a good modern standard. The place was efficiently run. We had an excellent meal in the 109 restaurant in the cellar. Great space and great service. Overall this was a good stopover for us.
Easy to find, own car park, nice evening meal in the restaurant, good breakfast.
Good, just a bit tired.
This place was OK, we stayed one night. It's old, obviously, and it has great historic value, it just felt a bit tired, somewhere where you put your old furniture when you don't know what to do with it. The staff where lovely, friendly and very attentive. Dinner was had outside as the sun set, the food was nice, a little forgetful. We thought of dining downstairs in the wine cellar however there was no one else there so we ate outside. Don't expect aircon etc or interior design. However as a trip back in time it was OK and as mentioned the staff were very friendly. Plenty of safe parking and relatively good value.
Loved the idea of staying in an old Chateau. The public spaces are lovely but the room I was in was a bit tired and could use a little spiffing up.
Excellent room, spacious and good Wi-Fi,
Lots of character
Great place for an overnight stay. Lots of character in nice parkland. Meal in restaurant was excellent. Would definitely stay again
We absolutely loved it here. The setting and all the furnishings are incredible
Cambrai and a place to stay.
Interesting locality but set in grounds making ut a quier location. A good restaurant on site. Do not expect modern, this is shabby chic in a 19th century country house.
Main house had great character in a shabby chic way. Nice grounds. Restaurant excellent and food exceptionally good. But we were in the Orangerie, a modern building. When booking you were not told that you would not be in the chateau. Room OK but bathroom very old fashioned . Two of the three lights in the bedroom did not work .The light between the bathroom and the bedroom didi not work. There was no safe. No air conditioning.
The restaurant and comfy beds. The superior room are good but prest are better.
Pleasant with good food.
The hotel was friendly with a good restaurant but a bit in need of refurbishment & a lift to the upper floor
picturesque hotel and grounds, bordering the canal. staff very pleasant
One night stopover
Bit of a curates egg. Lovely looking building in beautiful parkland setting. Very neutral welcome. Watched us carry bags up the flights of stairs without any offer of help. Our room on second floor reasonable but nothing like the ones shown on Hotels.com website. These I think must be first floor rooms. Hotel quiet so those rooms would have been available. No bar and lounge unappealing. Did not try the restaurant on this occasion. Dogs not allowed in Chateau bedrooms but in the lounge and restaurant.
A pleasant one night stay
We stayed for one night as part of a trip to a commonwealth war grave nearby. I expected the Chateau to be in the countryside but you drive past houses and apartment blocks until you're almost upon it. Unfortunately we stayed on a Sunday night and the restaurant was not open, so had to venture into Cambrai. Fortunately we found a very nice pizza restaurant opposite the train station. Also, it was strange that there was no bar, although the gentleman at reception did get us a beer after our long journey. The room was large, clean and very comfortable although there were no tea and coffee making facilities. Buffet style breakfast was nice but cost extra. Overall it was a pleasant stay
OK
Lovely room but hotel very tired and breakfast very basic
European trip
No air conditioning in room ,booked a superior room got given what was pretty much a basic room , think the photos on the web are misleading, a very warm evening with only a noisy fan to stay cool , not a good stay , although the building itself is beautiful
Staff exceptionally good. Hotel has lots of character Restaurant excellent.
Great
This was a great night. Restaurant wa first class. Definitely recommed this one. A little way out but if you have a car then it’s no problem.
Nice hotel in lovely grounds.
Beautiful!
We had some problems finding the chateau as it was tucked away behind a housing estate! However, once we did find it we were extremely impressed with the beauty of it. The lounges in the chateau were absolutely breathtaking as were the grounds around it. It was incredibly relaxing and peaceful considering the nearby residential area, just the lovely chorus of birds singing. We had a gorgeous room in the nearby Orangery with a great view of the chateau However, the window ledges were rather dusty and the bathroom couldve probably done with an update. Also the room smelt of cigarettes (neither of us smoke) The bed though was extremely comfortable and I had the best nights sleep I'd had all holiday! (We stayed in 5 different properties on our trip) The breakfast was good and the lady overseeing everything there very pleasant. There are many function rooms for meetings and celebrations. I would imagine that it's a brilliant venue for a wedding too. The nearby town is very close and accessible by car. There were lots of bars, restaurants and shops should you need them. We would definitely return to this hotel and recommend it to others. Overall we were very happy with our stay.
Lovely hotel. Room very clean and shower good. Food in restaurant was excellent.
Finding the Chateau was difficult. A good sat nav is essential. We were given a very warm welcome. The weather was exceptionally cold during our stay (February) and without asking we were provided with an extra heat source in our room. The bedroom was clean and fresh. The service in the breakfast room was attentive. Dinner was excellent and well priced. It was an unusual and very pleasant experience to stay in such elegant and 'historic' accommodation.
Something different!
Interesting hotel. The room was clean and warm. Had a great dinner in the restaurant.
Cambrai France
They only problem the hotel is about 1.5 miles out of the town centre and the taxi service is nit and miss having to wait up to an hour for one to arrive. Then there is the cost 15 euros for 1.5 miles !!!!!!!! You need a car which then means you can't have a drink.....
Tatty
Dusty, damp and badly maintained. Restaurant great, hotel much less so.
Just ok
Got in late and called ahead for dinner, great service from restaurant staff, and excellent food, but the place is a bit run down, and an expensive breakfast,
Brilliant time
Great value for a lovely French chateau.
Chateau
Nice location and older beautiful chateau that looked tired. Staff put us in an outer building even though almost no guests. We would have liked to stay in main house as advertised. Breakfast was not worth the money. Poor selection.
Very atmospheric gentile hotel
Slightly shabby but chic hotel set in beautiful parkland. slightly difficult to find. Very comfortable spacious and clean accommodation. Main building (the Chateau itself) very nicely restored. Had dinner in the restaurant on the first night, which was excellent, food and wine wonderful. Used hotel as a base for the Cambrai battlefield, which was very convenient. I think the hotel is used for a lot of corporate entertaining and functions and perhaps the overnight visitor is not their primary business (i.e., no bar, there is a mini bar in the room).
Very basic
We were in the Orangerie. Very simple/basic room, the minimum in terms of amenities. Big plus, very quiet place in the park. Good French breakfast.
Quiet and cosy hotel in a park style surroundings.
Friendly hotel with a chateau atmosphere. Spacious room and a good breakfast. Very relaxing after touring the WW1 historical sites.
Dont count on being fed
Nice Chateau and grounds. lift only goes to 1st floor so dont take heavy bags. We were refused dinner as they had filled the restaurant with outside reservations despite our booking No one asked us if we wanted dinner. When we asked for a taxi to go into town for food receptionist told us it was impossible to get one so we said are to sit in our room and starve? eventualy he booked us a taxi with very bad grace. Wont go back!
Old and dated
Not enough towels in the room when we first arrived, dead flies in the windows and on the floor. Breakfast is so over priced it's daylight robbery
A grand old accommodation house
Enjoyed a relaxing stay at this lovely old accommodation house with its spacious grounds and the restaurant was unique. Took us back to another time. A good starting point for vists to Valenciennes and other surrounding villages. Also for us, was in walking distance to Cambrai town centre
Grand property,if somewhat tired
Arrived to find room prepared but waste bin had not been emptied, still contained a nappy or sanitary towel in it - didn't look too closely!
Nice hotel good for touring the area and town
Stayed two nights. This hotel was well located, had beautiful grounds. We did not eat there as we were out all day. It was clean and tidy, we stayed in the orangery not the main building.
Old chateau style and comfort.
Huge, light and airy room. Excellent, comfortable chairs. Good location base for battlefield visits.
Great Restaurant
Overnight stay. Excellent restaurant
Nice building
The building was nice because of traditional style. The front and room condition were also good. Only one negative point was Wifi network was weak for both of the rooms that our family used.
A Relaxing Stay
It is a beautiful old manor with the furniture to fit the period the place was built. We found it very quiet and a lovely place to come back to after long days visiting the battlefields.
Delighted with this hotel
Delighted with this hotel as a find. A French take on the country house hotel and a very pleasant place to stay, although it did feel rustic and was very quiet. Friendly staff. An excellent but welcoming high-quality restaurant in the antique cellars below was an added bonus. Located in a relatively humdrum part of Cambrai (which is itself a bit drab), but with large, forested grounds, it felt like it was outside the city. Travelling in a family group, we had reserved large rooms- well worthwhile (I don't know if the smaller rooms are as nice). Would definitely stay again.
Great historic building in lovely grounds
Lovely period hotel with tastefully furnished rooms. A 20 minute walk into the town centre. Stayed in the Orangerie which was very pleasant. The staff were so polite and helpful.
old with modern faciliyes
everything was very good
Very good value but modest comfort
Whilst the hotel could do with some refurbishment and the double bed was very small, the adjoining restaurant was superb and the very modest room cost made up for the lack of confort
THIS HOTEL NEEDS TO CHECK ROOMS BBEFORRE GUESS
WE PAID FOR A SUITE WHICH WHEN WE ENTER THE ROOM LOOKED GREAT FOUR POSTER BED LOTS OF ROOM NICE BATHROOM VERY GOOD VIEW BUT THEN FIVE VERY LARGE WINDOWS EACH COVER WITH 50 PLUS LARGE FLIES THEN LOOKED AT THE FLOOR AND 20 T0 30 DEAD FLIES THERE FIRST ANSWER OPEN THE WINDOWS WE WAITED FOR A MANAGER WHO ONCE WE POINTED OUT HE CHANGED OUR ROOM NOT AS GOOD BUT ONLY TWO FLIES ON A GOOD NOTE THE RESTAURANT WAS FANTASTIC
Lovely grounds
We stayed one night en route to Annecy. Easy to get to from Calais. Quiet hotel, but there weren't many other guests, so that could be the reason.
Suited our purpose
Our room in the 'Orangerie' was comfortable and clean if a little tired regarding décor. Staff were found to be very helpful if communication was a little difficult with my lack of French. The restaurant was a tad expensive and neither of us enjoyed our meal. We would have found it easier to order had they had an English language menu. This was the only real let down of our stay.
Reception was nice, dinner very good.....room large and very nice. A good visit and experience.
Attractive Chateau but most rooms in tired annexe
The Chateau itself was attractive but most people apparently stay in the Orangery unless you pay the absolute full rate. The annexe had an unpleasant smell as you walked in - drains? - and the décor and general feel was tired. No view from the room and no coffee or tea facilities. Staff very helpful. Surrounding area is a high rise housing estate (sold off from the original chateau). Location north of town but fairly handy.
Welcome serenity
Really enjoyed the setting , level of service and comfort of the hotel
Excellent food and service
Although the Chateau is not situated in the most convenient of places, once you arrive the hotel staff are friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant lives up to the Gourmet title. Service was also excellent. We will not hesitate to stay again and recommend to friends.
Lovely hotel but very hard to find!
Lovely hotel but almost impossible to find without a Sat Nav. Signs to it just petered out. Suggest you tell clients to look for Clinique la Roque in Avenue La Roque and its just along from there. We spent a frustrating hour up side streets!
Very nice hotel
Chateau with a very good restaurant and breakfast. The accomodation is very nice and authentic.
Expérience mitigée mais je reviendrai
Cadre splendide.
Short stay at hotel Nicely located in a large park, well maintained historical castle One event held at hotel , wedding , caused noise during the night. Better room planning could avoid disturbance among various customers
Aufmerksames Personal. Sehr zu empfehlen
Stort potensial, men ikke godt nok i dag.
Pent utvendig, men slitt innvendig.
Castle hotel with a nice atmosphere
Very nice hotel with rooms in a castle and the orangerie in parc.Beautiful breakfastroom.Excellent restaurant in the basement.
Slecht hotel
Gedateerd hotel geen aanraarder
Very nice period property with spacious grounds to walk in. The cellar restaurant was very unique
