Would stay here again!

Lovely hotel right in a perfect location. Staff was also helpful and accommodating. I was in a standard double room and my hotel's windows looked into other rooms so that was the only downside. But, my room was quiet, dark, and comfy bed, which is exactly what I wanted after busy days. The hotel breakfast was excellent - one of the best hotel breakfast I have had! Assortment of fresh juices, fruits, eggs made to order. Fantastic, I looked forward to breakfast everyday!

Complicated to get to hotel. A lot of construction, we parked our car and walk under the rain. Quest-Spain mobile internet simply doesn’t work.

Convenient for walking and for public transportation. It is an old building, some upgrades would be beneficial. Stuff is professional and polite.

This hotel is extremely well located! It is on a very lively and busy street but the sound proof doors to the balcony ensured that was never a problem. Bed was comfortable and the maid service was very good. Loved this hotel and would definitely consider staying there again.

This place is pricey, but it’s great! So convenient to get anywhere you want, but everything is at your feet. So while plenty of transportation is available, you could really walk almost anywhere you want to go. Hotel is beautiful and the room was comfortable. Breakfast was expensive but really good.

The location was excellent. Staff very friendly. Would definitely stay here next time I’m in Barcelona.

Great property. The door to the front are locked and they buzz you in so it felt safe. Close to everything. Great balcony to people watch and good bathtub to soak at night. Would stay again!!

Great location, rooms are small but this is expected, minor issues like leaking coffee pots that tripped circuit breaker a couple of times, breaker switch was easy to find, close to the front door. Replacement coffee pot was also leaking but less. Upper Management, please go around rooms and inspect coffee pots, look for presence of hard water deposits, this is super easy, I would hate seeing this great hotel in legal troubles over $10 item. Receptionists and staff are phenomenal!!!

The Portal de l'Angel is a lovely hotel. It is an older but quaint hotel with a lot of charm. We stayed here twice, before and after our cruise and were very pleased. It is right on a walking street with Lots and lots of stores and restaurants. Very central and the airport bus dropped us off about a 4 minute walk from the hotel. Our room was booked with a little standing room only balcony which you could watch the pedestrians pass below. The room was very comfortable with nice facilities. We would highly recommend this hotel.

Great hotel for exploring all that Barcelona has

My husband and I stayed here during our recent trip to Barcelona. The location is just idea….close to so much. We walked to many places because the hotel just puts you in such a great location for it. When we first walked up, it was in the evening and the street that it was on was full of people and street performers and I thought “Uh oh, it’s going to be loud”…but it isn’t at all. I slept very soundly. Beds are comfortable, roomy bathrooms, very nice staff…a great stay. Would definitely stay here again…In fact, we did at the end of our trip after going to France for about 2 weeks.

The hotel is elegant yet affordable. The room was well appointed and I loved having a terrace to enjoy a break in sightseeing in the afternoons. Meal options were terrific. And the staff were great. The location is fantastic and I will stay there again the next time I’m in Barcelona!

Great hotel! I’m very picky when it’s comes to choose hotels. I didn’t regret!! Very quiet, clean, staff is very friendly and patient!

Excellent location, within walking distance of many of Barcelona’s main plazas, churches, markets, bares and museums. Great transportation nearby. The only thing that we did not like was that the plumbing was bad.

Perfect location, clean and friendly

We really enjoyed this hotel, it was in the PERFECT location, central to the gothic quarter and a pretty major transportation hub so we were able to take a bus from/to the airport is steps from the hotel. It's a touch dated, but super clean and the bed/pillows were comfy, and the personnel very friendly and helpful. We upgraded to a balcony room, highly recommend for a little bit more. Hotel is VERY well priced for the location, it's very safe and active. It's not a high end part of town, a bit touristy, but if you are in Barcelona for vacation, looking for a clean, safe place to lay your head at night, enjoy wandering through the narrow streets and amazing architecture of the area, this hotel is ideal. Most of the places we went around town were within a 30 minute walk, the bus system is very easy to use and there are plenty of taxis, restaurants, shoppiing right outside.

Nice hotel in a great location

This hotel turned out to be in a much better location than I anticipated, which added to its comfort. Our room had a balcony overlooking the very busy shopping area, but the glass doors were well-insulated with more glass doors that blocked the sounds of shoppers. Everything was clean and comfortable. It's close to the Gothic quarter so walking to restaurants and shops was easy. And it's close to the bus stop for the express line to the airport, as well as other bus stops and subway lines. Barcelona is so easy to traverse with public transport as well as walking, and this hotel is ideally situated for it all.

Very accommodating. We were able to check in one and half hours early which we really appreciated after arriving early afternoon after traveling all night.

Good location within walking distance of shops, restaurants, and some of the sites. Breakfast is good, but a bit pricey. Located on a busy shopping/public area that can be loud in the evening due to buskers/bands playing on the street outside

Cleaness

Great stay. Central to gothic quarter. Clean room and friendly staff. They upgraded us because of our 5 day long stay. The only thing is it can smell like cigarette smoke from rooms whose occupants do smoke. As a non smoker I wasn’t a fan of that but it wasn’t constant l.

The entrance is very beautiful and we loved our room .

Excellent Hotel and Great Location

Check in was excellent. Room comfortable. Mini bar could have been a little colder and a little difficult to get enough ice to chill wine but otherwise great location and comfortable room. Most of the staff at the front desk was very helpful. Bathroom beautiful.

A Total Disappointment – This Hotel Should Not Be VIP Access I was extremely disappointed with my stay. This hotel does not meet the standards of a VIP Access property. Here’s why: 1. Lack of Transparency: The hotel failed to disclose prior to booking that it is undergoing renovations. Being woken up by construction noise at 7:30 AM is far from a VIP experience. 2. Cleanliness Issues: My room, particularly the bathroom, was not properly cleaned. Despite requesting a thorough cleaning twice,

A jem of a hotel.

We booked late due to travel changes but were not disappointed. Beautifully converted and spotless.Right in the hub of vibrant old town Barcelona.Breakfast was exceptional. All in all a wonderful 2 night stay. Highly recommended.

Great staff, location and very clean

Did not appreciate being told at bar that they normally dont give out ice because they have to buy it. Even though the hotel gave us a free bottle of sparkling wine. Other than that- an amazing breakfast and great location and room.

Excellent location

Stayed for 1 night before my cruise. Was upgraded to a balcony that over looked the street with music. Perfect location for walking. Chondy was excellent, as well as the staff at the front. You do have to walk about 2 min to the hotel as it is not accessible by car (not a deal for me at all but could be for those with mobility concerns).

Parking nightmare

The only complain is that the parking is a public parking and far away from the hotel and we had to carry our own luggage thru the streets . Also at the time of reservation was no instructions how and where to park the car . Would had be easier if they did…Due to a construction was very hard to find the hotel we had to pay and follow a cab driver . Was No service available to carry the luggage to the hotel from the parking. Other than that …Amazing breakfast and excellent staff and confi room.

Great older property with nice updated public areas and rooms, though small for Americans use to rooms at home. Located in Gothic Quarter where the only way to get around is walking.

Great location. This is the perfect Hotel to explore Barcelona. Las Ramblas and the Gothic neighborhood are a few steps from the property. Plenty of stores, restaurants and bars all withing walking distance.

This hotel is in a great location in the Gothic Quarter near the Cathedral. There are tons of great shops and restaurants nearby. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We have found our Barcelona Hotel!!

Lovely hotel in a great location for shopping and restaurants. The staff was lovely. They booked hotel/port transfer service and made things very easy. The breakfast/lunch/dinner offered was delicious. I highly recommend.

Well located in old downtown

I love the room and the location of the hotel but the bathroom door there is No locker. If you travel with friends it is weird that you can not close the door. No locker at all. The door open in and out and no way to close.

Great location and amazing little boutique hotel and satff are amazing

really great hotel building but our room was behind the elevators so it kept us awake at night and couldnt sleep.

Hôtel location is very central, easy and safe area with be many shops and restaurants. Loved the older decor, with a most comfortable bed in a very clean room, could not hear any street noise. Hotel parking is very convenient, just 1/2 a block away. Hotel staff is very helpful and friendly. We hope to go back someday soon.

Beautiful property in the heart of Las Ramblas ! Great services& staff!

Great location and upgraded to the two-floor PH suite. This hotel is located in the middle of Barri Gotic and was walkable to many of the best Barcelona activities. It was hard to believe how quiet our room was when we were on such a lively pedestrian walkway.

Great place and location

We assumed a hotel with a restaurant and room service would have ice available. We were told to ask at the bar, where they were able to give us a cup at a time. “Small ice machine”. The bar was very small and stocked no better than a private home. Room was only somewhat clean. Towels were badly worn. Location was excellent.

We lived that it was located in the Gothic district and the cathedral and close to Las Ramblas. We walked to many of our tours. Many restaurants & shopping nearby.

Very beautiful property. A bit disappointed by Expedia description and pictures of room vs actual room. Expedia stated bidet and hair dryer in bathroom and there was not. The bathtub and bathroom in pictures was a bit nicer than ours. Very central location good for tourists and friendly helpful nultilingual staff.
