Great rooms for the price!
Más o menos
Didn't take cretit cards, not the best neighborhood, and the place was noisy at 6:15am, couldn't sleep after that. The room was fine.
My experience was wonderful, excellent for tourists, I recommend it for everyone, it’s better than they offering at Expedia website!
Thanks!
Excelente lugar, limpia, cómoda y buena ubicación
Staff is very kind , specially Nataly , this place is very comfortable, location is perfect .
Good looking place. People there treat you like family.
The staff was really professional.
Since it was winter the cold shower were a bit cold. Go solar!
No hot water was available in the bathroom for showers.
The room was completely different from the photos. This hotel run out of propane gas and there was no shower.
Es un lugar muy confortable y el personal es sumamente amable
Very nice place, I will come back soon!
Rooms need upgrade. Those at the pictures are very misliding. Dark, cold and smelly.
Huge room, super quiet. Very safe and friendly place to visit.

Review
Nice private room. Big. Lots of help with laundry. Very quite
Neat and clean room. Receptionist was friendly and spoke English. Robert
Had a room overlooking a VERY noisy street, asked for a quieter room, said they didn't have another . free breakfast that stopped at 930 a.m. Noise carries thru the place like the wind. Children running around screaming and unrestrained. Night receptionist watching something at his computer with volume very high late at night. Asked him to please lower volume , said he would, did not .Over rated to say the least
It is very well kept. Very clean.and attractive. The staff is very accomodating. They keep a limited supply of toilet paper. The rools are sparse and run out quickly. Otherwise, I enjoyed my stay at Casa De La Rosas.
Very decent
Good for the price
This is a wonderful boutique hotel with only 6 rooms. It is located perfectly as it is only a short 15 minute walk to the main square and cathedral. The airport and bus stations are only 8-10 minutes away. The Family suite was perfect for us. It was basically a full 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment with a full kitchen. A hot Breakfast was included each morning. We loved the fresh squeezed local juices that were served. All of this for less than $70 per night! The staff speaks little English so brush up on your Spanish.
small hotel like guest house
Hard to communicate with staff. Staff can not speak english at all.Food is not good as well.
Beautiful little place to stay
Awesome ambience, great breakfast, and wonderful rooms with hot showers which is not always the case in the highlands of Ecuador and Peru. The rooms are nice, well taken care of. The breakfast is great for this level of hotel. Close to the main plaza area and on a quiet side street. I've stayed here several times and been very happy with each visit.
Comfy
Room spacious, good breakfast
Cute place with some downsides
The hotel was cute and the staff were friendly. The room was larger than we expected and fairly nice. It was a very cute room with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. There were windows that opened to the common areas. They seemed to have a hard time finding the correct keys for our room to give us. They gave us 4 keys to use and none of them actually worked. There were cracks in the floor so we could see straight down to the dining are below us making it very noisy from 7am until around 11pm.
Great Hotel for the Money
Service and breakfast were great. Hotel is very pleasing and staff excellent and accommodating. Only drawback would be the bathroom cleanliness and a few other minor issues such as dead bugs in the room light fixture. Overall though very good hotel for the money.
Just 1 km from Parque Calderon
We stayed in the family suite. We liked the size of the accommodations. It was helpful to have a kitchen with utensils and cookware. The beds were comfortable. There are 2 full bathrooms which came in really handy. We found a super market not too far from Casa de Las Rosas. The staff was very helpful. They arranged for cab rides and gave us directions to different markets and restaurants. Overall, the stay was pleasing. If anything could be done about sound insulation, that would improve the experience. Otherwise, bring earplugs.
A lovely little home
It's more like a cozy home than a hotel and the staff will definitely make you feel that way. Couldn't ask for a better experience.
Amazing staff. Sat down with us and let us know what we can we can do around the city. Value added that as a tourist I highly appreciate.
Hard beds
Very limited English made it difficult. Beds like rocks and pillows to match. Very poor drainage in shower. Breakfasts limited. Handy position was its saving grace.
Nice little BnB in Cuenca
Very quaint place with a wonderful staff. Bed was reasonably comfortable I liked the area, but the street was blocked at one end making navigation slightly more challenging. Close enough to walk to old town locations. Close to terminal terreste. Close to shops, panderia, and lots of true local life. Good street food and local crafts, etc. We enjoyed our stay.
Nice place
Great place to stay friendly, cute, close to restaurants shops and the bus station.
Very welcoming property
This is definitely a very nice 3 star property, with super, friendly, welcoming staff and in a pretty good location, but there are some issues that make it slightly tricky to give a glowing review. It is a relatively easy walk into the main heart of Cuenca, taking no more than 20-30 minutes depending on your pace and it does seem very safe. There is a lovely lounge which serves tea, coffee, fruits and cake 24/7, which is a nice way to relax and to meet fellow travellers. The breakfast is served in a nice, airy atrium dining room and there's a good choice of cooked eggs, toast/bread, cereals, yogurt, juice (made with water), fruit, ham, cheese, coffee, tea, chocolate etc., all the basic staples. The rooms are spotlessly clean and although sparse, certainly comfortable. However, there is absolutely no sound proofing of any kind as it's just bare boards separating the rooms and the downstairs, once breakfast starts gearing up, you may as well be trying to sleep in the kitchen or the dining room. You will hear EVERYTHING. The linens and bedding are clean, but you will need the blankets and down that is provided as there's no heating of any kind and Cuenca is not the warmest spot, even in summer. There's no aircon either, but you can open the windows. The bathrooms is brand new and there's good water pressure. There's soap & shampoo provided, but towels are not changed every day. The towels were actually really old and very badly stained.
A rose of a hotel!
Fabulous staff, room, breakfast buffet and tearoom. They were very helpful in getting me wonderful day tours at a very good price. Hotel was within walking distance of rivers, centre, churches and shopping.
Close to Terminal Terreste and Centro
Very enjoyable 7 night stay. Elevation of Cuenca is pretty high so had to take it easy walking around and there were lots of parks and plazas around with benches for "rest stops". The Centro Historico is truly impressive with the churches, buildings, and homes that have been kept in good condition.
My home in Cuenca
I felt very much at home in Casa de las Rosas, a small hotel with a friendly staff that felt at times like a private club. It was within walking distance or a $1.50 taxi to the bus station for excursions to Ingapirca and Cajas National Park. Although I wasn't crazy about the location at first, as I became more adept at getting around I realized that I could easily get where I wanted to go and bypass the noise and congestion. And it was close enough to walk to Fabiano's for a takeout lasagne.
Really a great experience!
I don't quite many reviews but this was really a great experience. Each member of the staff was incredible friendly and helpful with their only goal to do whatever they could to help me enjoy my time in Cuenca and at the hotel. Nice breakfast with eggs and/or cereal. Coffee and fruit available all day. Location isn't as convenient as other places, I suppose but I still was able to walk everywhere and cabs are cheap anyway.
Best and cheapest little hotel In Cuenca
Friendliest little hotel in non descript street, about 10 min walk to centre, good breakfast and free fruit, tea & coffee all day, lots of charm and character.
Excellent family hotel in centre of city
This hotel is unique and run with care and attention to the guest stay. I enjoyed my stay immensely. Having stayed in over 40 hotels in the last 6 weeks this was the best
Cuenca Gem
I've been on the road for 6 weeks now, and my room "Esmeralda" was the best place I've been in by far. The room had a king size bed, wifi that worked, a patio just outside my room, and amenities such as facial tissues, hair dryer, a robe, and a delicious breakfast that included eggs cooked to order as well as fresh fruit and plain yogurt. I only wish I had stayed longer in Cuenca!
Loved it
Excellent hotel
Great stay
Great stay highly reccomend
Historic hotel close to everything
The hotel in its charm and design is beautiful. the rooms are large and well appointed. However, it is very loud, not only with street activity, but even within the hotel... Can hear almost everything that goes on insofar as conversations and general activity. The staff is ver, very nice and accommodating.
I will never book 4 stars after this 3 star
I have always stayed in high end hotels while traveling, a very different experience--there, you (the travelers) are anonymous, you have to lock up everything you own in a safe, etc. So this is my first experience (after 40 years of high end) staying in what could be described as a "pension"--locked room with large bed (with updated bathroom and excellent hot water every morning, very strong and did not run out), daily maid service, free breakfast every morning (eggs cooked to order plus cereal, yoghurt, fruits, tortas (pies) and traditional Spanish breakfast items like jamon, salchicha and queso (ham, sausages and local cheese), plus white and wheat bread. There were two things here that made me change my mind completely about never to use 4 stars again: The people here were like family, they really went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and had whatever I needed, even to running errands for me at times they thought it was too risky for a gringa to be outside alone. They pointed me toward all Cuenca's attractions, and made sure I was savvy about the city itself. They told me where not to go, and got taxis for where I did go (and haggled with the driver over prices in advance and told me what the maximum payment should be)--it was very important to them that I not get the "gringo prices." Also, for the entire week, I never locked up a single thing--Mac laptop and iPhone, kindle, cash, passport etc--I left it all behind in the room and never worried.
Great service. Location OK
Went on business. Stay was great. Location was not a issue as I stayed in hotel after a long day of customer visits.
Quaint little hotel but not in the nicest part
I felt safe even though it was not the nicest area. The staff was very hospitable and helpful. The rooms are clean and here are roses everywhere. Overall, i would stay here again
Awesome hotel.
This hotel was great. Great location, great staff...willing to help with every need of the guest. Location was good. So much character in this building, which sometimes can translate into not fully functional and modern.
Charming, spotless hotel with helpful staff
We stayed in the spacious family suite. The suite was huge with two large bathrooms, two bedrooms, a kitchen and family room and large terrace. The decor was lovely. We enjoyed a complimentary breakfast each morning. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Great value.
Happy at Casa de las Rosas
We really enjoyed our recent stay at Casa de las Rosas. We are a family of three- my husband, our 9 year old son and I. Casa de las Rosas is in an old building that has been refurbished. The rooms and bathrooms are clean and the staff is very friendly and attentive- even offering hot water bottles for night time. The rooms are definitely not sound proof though, so if you're a light sleeper, ear plugs are helpful. The breakfast is great and the afternoon tea and snacks appreciated. I would recommend this hotel. Good value for the money.
Very quiet hotel.
An enjoyable stay. Nicely decorated rooms. Sittings rooms with tea coffe fruit and cake always available.
casa de Las Rosas !!!!
Everyone at casa de Las Rosas where helpful and very nice. The hotel is beautiful. We stayed in the honeymoon suite. It was great it has everything you need. Refrigerator gas stove , dishes, fry pans. The shower is nice with a rain shower head. hot water. The breakfast are wonderful all you can eat. fresh juice different every day made by Lucia. We would stay again.
Excellent Place to Stay
It was one of the wondurful places we stayed out. They were so helpful in gettings us about in Cuenca
Premier!
This was probably the most beautiful hotel, for the money, that I've ever stayed at. My wife and I had a suite on the third and last floor. It was amazing, with two bathrooms, two bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room and a terrace overlooking a courtyard. Even though there was no elevator, we negotiated the three flights of stairs in anticipation of those beutiful rooms.
satisfactory location
Hotel is located within walking distance of the old town core. The immediate area may appear rather unwelcoming at first sight, however we felt very comfortable walking back to the hotel in the evening. Staff have limited English so it would have helped for us to have done more of our Spanish lessons before leaving on our trip, but they were very helpful.
Wonderfully remodeled old home in Old Town
Cuenca is a very charming, clean, and safe city. This hotel was a perfect extension of that. It's an old home with two courtyards, that's been completely remodeled. The owners did a beautiful job.
Excellent Boutique Hotel
This was an excellent boutique hotel. The staff was superb - friendly, warm and extremely helpful. The room was fine, comfortable and clean.
Great place in a great town
Excellent accommodations slightly off the beaten path but very close to everything. Fantastic rooms, breakfast, and service with a great relaxing feel. We wanted a place that was above the normal hostel scene but wasn't just for old rich people and this was awesome! Taxis are so cheap that we took them everywhere and the front desk can call them for you and help give them addresses for the more difficult to find stuff.
Quaint and Comfortable
Nice place, decent location, friendly staff. Not as many services as big hotels. No gym, pool, etc... It's more like a bed and breakfast.
Nice but not great place to stay...
This was a very nice place to stay as a B and B. Room could have used another chair, and some type of table or desk (room was really big). Only trash can was in bathroom, we hung a plastic bag from the door handle. Also needed some type of soap dish for the shower. Very nice breakfast buffet and the staff did not mind cooking eggs and bacon or ham according to your request. Great job with that... Also had some type of cake and tea out 24 hours a day! The staff really tries to please!!!
Lovely, homey hotel
Large room, good breakfast and wonderful staff. If you don't speak Spanish, there is one woman who is fluent. Alternatively, the others are helpful and so friendly and use google translate! Did not realize on the first morning that they would cook eggs to order in addition to the breakfast buffet. Also, we asked them for a recommendation for a driver to Banos - they arranged the best guide we had on the mainland - perfect English, so knowledgeable, fairly priced and great to spend the day with.
Staff extremely helpful and caring!
Adorable hotel, great location for walking . Safe neighborhood, looks a little rough but is not! Very old building, so not as quiet as I would like, but everything else makes up for some of the noise! Impeccable rooms, wonderful breakfasts and nice afternoon teas with home daily fresh made pastry. We had to leave early in the morning, the staff was very kind and made us a hot breakfast to go! Very thoughtful! Loved it!

For me, it's a three and a half
Stayed there twice. The staff is really nice. My second stay was better than my first. During my first stay, they put me in a room with two beds (although I had booked a room with one bed, a "Matrimonial"), and the mattress was rock hard - and I mean rock hard. I've stayed in places in Northern Thailand with hard beds, but there I could sleep relatively well - not here. I insisted on a room with one bed for my second stay there and I can tell you that the bed was a thousand times more comfy. Breakfast simple but adequate and well presented, had no problem with hot water or water pressure whatsoever (great shower!), and the place is relatively quiet for this type of structure. Lovely garden/courtyard off the dining area, nice place to catch up on your email correspondence. Unfortunately, as previous reviewers have pointed out, the Internet is very finicky and unreliable, you need to constantly ask the staff to reboot the modem (reboot is "re-iniciar" in Spanish). Can get frustrating at times. In a nutshell, nice enough place and people, but for the money, I think there are much better options in Cuenca.
Nice place, but beds in twin rooms way too hard
I booked a "Matrimonial" room (with one queen bed - the hotels.com site says "King Bed", but there is no such thing in that hotel), but was given a room with two beds. The place is clean and conveniently located, and the staff really nice, but I had two looooong nights on a rock-hard mattress. I'm staying there again in two days, they said that I would be given the right room this time and I was assured that the matrimonial rooms with only one queen bed have more comfortable mattresses. To be continued...
Boutique hotel on edge of old town area
Very cute pleasant hotel with accommodation staff. Site is on periphery of old town which increases walking distances. Would not recommend walking to/from hotel at night. "Continental breakfast" buffet included.
Enjoyed our stay
Casas de las Rosas is a well maintained and charming colonial house that felt much like home away from home during our 4 night stay. Although at the edge ofvthe main city attractions it was easy walking distance to everything. We preferred our location so as to also be able to enjoy observing the daily Cuencan activities in our neighborhood. Between Christmas and New Years costumes, masks, parades, music and general merriment were at hand, and the very near San Blas Church/Plaza seemed especially busy with local family celebration and activity. Our only caution would be after dark when walking to/from Casa de las Rosas to avoid the vicinity of the market square on Gasper Sangurima...it's been noted to be a problem area at night.
Wonderful place to stay!
An unexpected treasure! Beautiful small newly renovated hotel with lots of charm and character and very friendly and helpful staff. They even did our personal laundry for us at a small additional cost. Lovely breakfast and afternoon tea, including home made baked goods and fresh fruit. Nice sitting areas and a small courtyard. Its just a few blocks to walk to the center of old town. Highly recommend.
It is within walking distance of the town square.
We had researched hotels with Trip Advisor before picking Casa de las Rosas. We were not disappointed. The staff were very nice and friendly. After a day of sight seeing it was nice to have a parlour where you could have a nice cup of tea or coffee which you could have with a piece of pie freshly baked or fruit. Every night you get a nice hot water bottle to warm your bed up. The staff made us feel most welcomed and we had the run of the common areas of the hotel. Oh yes, we also enjoyed the soft music they played for us at breakfast.
real ecuadorian neighborhood
Loved the hotel and the breakfast was amazing but if you are not FLUENT .in spanish good luck. Also wifi was spotty at best which is a bit frustrating. The staff gave out hot water bottles in the evening as bed warmers and they were actually very efficient.
close to many sites
The staff was outstanding. Available around the clock if needed. Very friendly, warm and expressed concern. Although we thought we were staying at a Hotel, not a Hostel we adapted and at the end were very happy. Upon our arrival once in our room the bed was decorated with two bath robes, rose petals around and scented candles. There was also rose petals on the soap dish by the sink. Oh, before we forget, hot water bottles every night before bedtime. Did it help to soothe the aches and pains.....YES! That was awesome.
Casa de las Rosas | Hotel in Cuenca | Travala.com
I had to ask for towels, shampoo etc.. almost everyday. I had to ask them to clean my room. I had waited 3 days. They had 24 hour service, however I had to wait nearly an hour to enter my room, bc they were sleeping and didn't hear the phone calls and banging on the door. 3 stars, I know may be too much. but they were apologetic and cordial
