Very safe, secure and friendly hotel in Antananarivo. Bonus of having an ATM (Visa inly) and a french patisserie on site. Good with their airport shuttle service too.

All staff is nice and willing. Unfortunately the property itself seems to be left in disrepair. The worst part is the lack of a proper restaurant/chef: food quality is below par. Breakfast is appalling, very little choice and poor quality. Definitely, as it is now, not a 5 star hotel.

Nice stay but meeting services need improvement

On the positive side, the hotel is conveniently located to businesses, restaurants and supermarket. The staff were attentive, the meals were good (both the breakfast buffet and lunch/dinner ordered off of the menu). The room was comfortable and clean. Needing improvement: The internet was nearly unusable: difficult to download or send files in email, difficult to use voice Skype, long time to load some web pages, connection comes and goes randomly. For our meeting, everyone had to have the same lunch dish, no individual choices or even having half and half. The meeting room had a partition halfway through the room that made it impossible to use both halves of the room, so all participants had to be squeezed into one half.

A decent hotel with a very good kitchen. It is let down by carelessness in housekeeping and being quiet to the point of boring. The restaurant, bar and pool do not seem to attract people other than guests. The location is inconvenient with nothing of interest within walking distance. Partly as a result of this the hotel could do with having a shop selling the basics and some snacks. Next time I will look for something smaller and in the old town

Internet not so good; bathtub quickly turns into a pool when taking a shower. Friendly staff.

A business only hotel with 3 star standards

This hotel is below standard for a 5 Star hotel. The wireless is unreliable, the hotel looks threadbare and needs a change is management.

Hotel rooms are old and tired. Need things like irons and boards in rooms. Bathrooms very small.

A Solid 4 “Tana” Stars

Travel Back in Time to Classic Tana- once a very extravagant and spared-no-expense Hilton Hotel in the 1960s, in modern times the Carlton hotel has aged to a point no renovation can mask. However, it still has a classic elegant charm. Rooms are small but comfortable, great views of the lake. Breakfast included is decent, pool is quite nice. AC is decent, WiFi seemed acceptable but not super fast. If I were rating in a modern or developed city this would be a 3 or 3.5 star rating.

The backside pool area is by far the best feature of this hotel! The hotel is from the 1960s and still feels that way. It is an oasis of luxury in a neighborhood where average Malagasies live in difficult conditions

This was an excellent hotel. For sure the best in Madagascar. Also the most expensive perhaps. But worth it for all the little comforts and a great view. Breakfast was excellent.

The available in Antananarivo

The Carlton Hotel Madagascar provided the best available accommodation during my visit to Antananarivo. Friendly staff and all the requirements you expect from this capital city.

Dinner service in the dining room is rather very slow.

Room was very small. That was my main complaint. The food and service though was great. Everything was also very clean.

Quick stop at Antananarivo.

We had a quick stop at Tana before going back to Arusha. The staff in Carlton are very helpful and friendly. The manager tried his best to give us a pleasant and warm welcome for our 2nd stay at Carlton during this holiday. Welcome gift of sweets was a nice gesture especially coming back at night. The room was extremely tidy and properly prepared for our arrival, except that we had a noisy neighbour and traffic noise was slightly annoying. Overall it was a pleasant stay at Carlton.

Not satisfied...at all!

Upon arrival, couldn't figure out how the shower worked, which is not their fault; but upon requesting someone come to the room to help resolve the issue, no one arrived. I literally called over five times, spanning one hour, only to have to look out my door to stop a maintenance man and ask for his help. Even after speaking with the manager in midst of the issue, there was still not resolve. The power kept going in and out, which wouldn't have been so bad if I didn't have to keep changing back to the channel i was watching over and over and over again. The breakfast was pretty lackluster and customer service in general was lacking.

My 2 day stay at the Calton Hotel

I had to stay at the Calton Hotel because I missed the flight to another place. It was nice but most workers spoke French, but some of them could understand some English. The lights kept flickering on and off. The Internet didn't work for me.

Looks awful on the outside, but inside is good.

Stayed for one night. Used the free airport pick up. The hotel is in the centre of Tana, near a busy and bustling lake. Check in took an eternity. Half an hour I waited, but apart from that, my stay was fine. Good room, decent food, decent staff. They just need to clean up or renevare the exterior. It looked like a 1970s concrete tower block - which, I suppose, it probably is.

My stay at the Calton Hotel

Overall my stay was nice. Clean room, good service, and food. But the WiFi didn't work for me at all and I had brought my laptop to do some work.

Comfortable hotel in Tana

I enjoyed my stay at the Carlton Hotel at the end of a trip to Madagascar. The staff were all very friendly and knowledgeable and the hotel also offered a transfer to the airport which was really helpful. I was disappointed that the gym/spa was out of service. There was also a smell of stale tobacco in my room which wasn't so great. It would also been nice to have had some wine in the mini-bar

Not a five star hotel

This hotel is definitely not a 5 star hotel. At best, I would call it a 3 star hotel and that is being generous. The service staff is ok. My room was not cleaned daily until 2:00 in the afternoon. Upon my return from a tour, my in room breakfast dishes were still in the room and I had to call the front desk to have them removed and the room cleaned. The food at the restaurants were mediocre. While this may be the best that Madagascar has to offer, it certainly would not meet the standards of a five star hotel.

An excellent hotel choice for Madagascar considering it is Madagascar. For the country, is is probably a five star, but by western standards, it is a 3-4. We ate dinner which was less than mediocre.

The best in antanarivo

Stayed there overnight before a flight the next day. Looked like the best hotel in the city. Would think this is more of 3 1/2 star but probably 5 star for antanarivo. We didn't try all the hotel facilities but dinner was really good but a bit slow. Rooms were clean but definitely needed a bit of an update. Overall stay was pleasant in one of the most horrendous cities I have ever visited in my travels.

Almost nothing to complain. Room is very nice and well furnished, Service absolutely great, bed are clean, new, Lobby is very quiet and comfortable. Only thing than can be improve is the Internet connection in the hotel which is a little bit to slow for Business, but in Madagascar, there is not a lot you can do for this> I strongly recommend this hotel, for the Service, the rooms and the very good price

Great option for Tana

Location and services/amenities are the highlights of Hotel Carlton. Fantastic views of the lake and hills from upper floors. Rooms could use some upgrades, but are more than adequate. Restaurants are quite good, including the buffet breakfast. Staff and friendly and helpful - all in all a great experience!

L’hôtel est très bien

Laut Öffnungszeiten ist der pool vom 7.00 bis 19.00 Uhr geöffnet. um 7.45 Uhr war der pool noch nicht geöffnet und nicht gereinigt. Abgesehen von hereinfallenden Blättern, was ich nichta ls grosses Problem betrachte, ist die gesamte Umrandung des pools wirklich schmutzig. Dass Essen (Pizza) am pool ist kaum gneissbar und entspricht den Standrad eiens Pizza take away.

Globalement satisfaisant

Le séjour s'est globalement bien déroulé; Le petit déjeuner n'est pas forcément au niveau avec des viennoiseries pas très fraîches, et café expresso en supplément.

銀行やATM、レストラン、カフェ、土産物屋さんなどもホテル内にあり、便利です。アヌシ湖沿いを散策するのも気持ちがよいですが、夜に出歩くのは避けた方がよいでしょう。施設が老朽化しているというコメントもありますが、それほど老朽化しているようにも思えません。従業員も気持ちのよい人が多く、快適に過ごすことができました。
