This was my first time staying at this hotel, which I chose somewhat by chance as it was the first option available during my online booking. I later noticed that it had garnered positive feedback from many other customers, which reassured me about my choice. The quality-to-cost ratio was reasonable, and, as is often the case in Addis Ababa, the staff were friendly, approachable, and always ready to assist. While I appreciated my overall experience, I felt that the room facilities did not quite meet the expectations set by the hotel's advertised 5-star rating. There is room for improvement in this regard to better align with the standards typically associated with such a rating.

Staff amazing. Gym, pool, hair salon all very good. Unfortunately the hotel building is in need of updating it has everything you want but its old and feels neglected.

Addis Ababa trip

The hotel is on a busy road and not particularly well laid out but any short comings are made up by the very friendly staff particularly Selamawit Minase and her colleague Sisay who were a credit to the hotel.

Having a cultural restaurant in the basement is the best thing about the Capital Hotel & Spa. The music and dancing were mesmerizing. We had such a great time and the food was delicious! It's also wonderful to be able to work out in the enormous gym and get your hair done in the beauty salon. Such a great place to spend a weekend! Keep it up

Definitely not a 5 star hotel nor a 4 star hotel . Just an average 3 star hotel. Very run down. Needs total revamp. Free shuttle from and to the airport is a plus.

First Class Staff

When we arrived Addishiwut Meieje was extremely helpful, although we were disappointed with the condition of the room she assisted us and moved us to a more appropriate room. Fitsum Tesfaye went the extra mile to escort us to our room and made sure that we were satisfied. During our stay Fitsum and Addishiwut checked on us every day, ensured that everything functioned and that we were comfortable. Gaddisse, and Bezawit made sure that our dining experience was top notch. The entire staff helped me celebrate my birthday it was amazing. The bartender Bethlehem on the 9th floor made our experience top notch and Habtamu helped me celebrate and made the best drinks. Overall the staff made our experience First class! The Capitol Hotel and Spa staff carry this location.

Staffs were pleasant specially the girl form the front desk name Adishiwot , food was delicious. Thank you for the great hospitality.

The checkin was smooth, my booking was a day later than I needed but they booked me a room as a walk-in for a resonance price. Only issue was they didn’t take Amex or Mastercard so had to pay cash. They take dollar based on the day’s exchange rate. The staff was friendly and accommodating but can be slow for room service or at the restaurant.

The door keys did not work so everytime had to ask someone to help open the door with master key. This was super inconvenient and I stayed at the hotel 5 days and it was still not fixed. Staff who helped were super friendly

I have an enjoyable stay at the Addis Ababa Capital Hotel and Spa. From the quick checkin experience to the spacious and cozy room. Room service was prompt and responsive. Breakfast spread of local and continental dishes caters well to all guests. Unfortunately I was able to use the Gym, swimming pool and other hotel facilities as I was busy catching up with old friends but definitely will check it out next time I stay at the hotel. Front desk staff were very accommodating to my special requests and IT services which I was really grateful of as they went far and beyond to get my printouts. Definitely recommend this hotel for anyone seeking a great location in Addis and lovely hotel with great facilities.

The hotel staffs were extremely accommodating and allowed me to check in early. The rooms were clean, very comfortable., The staff went over and beyond to help make my stay enjoyable. The gym, spa, and pool are the best in the city. I used it every day. The location is in the center of everything within a 2-mile radius of this hotel. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Addis Ababa.

An aspiring international standard in the heart of Addis Ababa with adequate facilities and staff who try their best. The potential is great if the standard is maintained and further developed. Left the hotel well rested and refreshed.

Horrible service, specially room service, wrong order and not helpful

Nice pool; good airport shuttle. But tried 3 different rooms to find a quiet one. Staff should have known where quiet rooms were not putting me in one facing loud road and another beside loud music event.

The hotel was a little bit run down but the staff tried hard.

The staff is amazing. Words are not enough to describe how they were genuinely caring and attentive. I have to do a shout out to 2 staff members that come to mind: "Meraf" at the reception desk and "Baitru "at the concierge desk were excellent. The gym provides all my needs for a daily cardio workout. Ahh the spa is another gem. I enjoyed the Moroccan bath. What makes Capital hotel attractive is it's all on in one approach. Friendly and helpful staff but not very clean room

The hotel staff are very helpful and friendly. My only disappointment is I saw a cockroach in my bed one morning and that grossed me out. The carpets in the room can do with a deep cleaning. This would get a 4 or 5 star from me if it didn't have the cleanliness issues.

Capital Hotel staff was excellent and professional. Close to the airport with shuttle service. Breakfast tasty with omelette station. I was able to leave luggage while I traveling around the country.

The staff are wonderful! A great place to spend the day, even if you're not spending the night. I recommend the spa (very affordable and enjoyable)! The gym is large and has similar amount of equipment you would find in a regular North American gym.

The service is excellent. The staff are helpful and friendly and informative. However, at check-in I was told that breakfast was no included in my room rate -- my reservation did not say so, but the woman checking me in twisted the language around and insisted. This is unheard of in Addis where all the hotels offer breakfast. If I had known that, I would have definitely booked another place.

Wow. Just when I thought the Capital couldn't get any better, they added a cultural restaurant downstairs. It was amazing. I got honey wine, kocho, kifo, shiro and the best greens ever! The food and dancing were fantastic. If you want the best experience in Addis, try to the Capital. The swimming pool is heated. The jacuzzi, sauna and steam room are perfect and so clean.

Nice hotel-going back tomorrow

It’s an okay hotel. Nowhere close to a 5 star as you’d expect in other parts of the world. Some staff are nice, others quite rude. Air con didn’t work in room. Got bad gastro on last night and the only food I’d eaten that day was served in the hotel. Also, the airport shuttle bus had too many people waiting for the 6am, so there was a scramble to get a spot. And then it was 25mins late leaving- not ideal when obviously, we all had flights to catch. Had a treatment in the spa. Was good and the ambience was relaxing. Gym is well kitted out.

The guy Who works in dining was rude and unprofessional. Tall skinny darkish color guy. He might need some more customer service training::

It is the perfect place to relax and rejuvenate. I lo e the heated pool.

Average Hotel - Definitely not a 5 Star

This is just an average business hotel, definitely not a 5 Star Hotel. The hotel need renovation and the service is extremely poor. Only positive thing is that the staff is helpful specifically the concierge.

Outstanding value. Ten minutes from the airport.Excellent and inexpensive massages in the spa. The lobby restaurant caters to international crowd and is a little pricey (check the menu). Downstairs they have an Ethiopian restaurant that is very reasonable (buffet was 350 birr) and on the night we were there (Sunday) they had outstanding traditional music and dancing. One night we had a suite - roomy and very comfortable, but faces the main road and traffic noise was a little loud. Another night we had a room with a king bed that faced the back and was much quieter. Staff is very nice and helpful.

Comfortable Hotel with nice staff

The hotel is comfortable and in a location relatively close to the airport. The staff is very friendly, and they offer an effective airport shuttle free of charge. The slight disappointment: room wasn’t ready when I wanted to check in at 6.30 pm.

It was a safe, clean and well maintained hotel with helpful staff. I didn't have time try spa services but rest of hotel was really nice. All the staff were friendly and provided good service. Even though the hotel and room were next to busy road, it was pretty quiet.

Wellness Spa Meets Hotel

Great breakfast buffet, room service, warm swimming pool, amazing body scrub - ask for Rute. The pedicure equally amazing - the same wonderful woman has done it for both my stays. Just in general, everyone cares.

Pleasantly surprised!

My usual hotel was booked so I decided to stay at the Capital Hotel and Spa. I was impressed with the helpfulness of the staff, the comprehensive fitness and spa facilities, and the price point. The only disappointing thing would be the breakfast buffet. I would have liked to see a wider selection of food and fresh fruit. Overall, I would recommend it to friends or colleagues and I would return in the future.

A nice oasis in Addis Ababa.

From the pick up at the airport to drop off at the airport I was very pleased with my stay. Even after check out I was allowed to use the pool and spa until I left on the afternoon airport shuttle. The hotel is very clean and the room was very nice. The area around the hotel is a little run down but much of Addis Ababa is run down. I walked around the area a couple of times and I wasn't harassed by anyone. The only thing that I didn't like was they cannot change a $20.00 U.S. bill into smaller U.S. bills. I little having some some U.S. bills when I travel. The Birr bills are very dirty and I prefer to have clean U.S. bills when I travel.

The rooms were great, only bad part is some of the outlets were not working. But the spa is probably the best in Addis, will go back because of the spa.

A very nice hotel with extremely friendly and helpful people. Kudos to Michael and all the other marvelous personnel! Their pick-up service to and from the hotel is fabulous. What makes it VERY special is their massages. That alone is enough reason to come back. As a matter of fact, we once had a long stop-over in Addis and arranged to be picked up for a massage. Just fabulous!

Nice atmosphere!

Hotel with a very nice overall atmosphere. The room are well equipped and confortable. Just wish I could have opened my window to get some fresh air even if humid outside. Breakfast is just amazing and the ladies so nice. But dinner buffet was too repetitive to my taste, but you can always order on the menu, food is good. Also nice big balcony near restaurant to meet with clients or enjoyed a drink while watching at the sea. Would stay there again.

Room was lovely, hot shower was good and wifi was also good. However WhatsApp was blocked and cannot access my personal email. Breakfast is acceptable.

Incredible staff, very friendly and helpful. I got my hair cut at the Spa and was less than impressed. The breakfasts were excellent but some of the other food did not live up to expectations. I was given wrong information at the front desk re getting a SIM card.

A well-run luxury hotel where everything works!

The Capital Hotel is a well-run luxury hotel that provides a comfortable respite from the challenges of contemporary Ethiopia. Everything works including wifi, AC, and satellite tv, and everything is well maintained. The pool is heated and crystal clear, the hotel staff is very friendly and kind, the Ethiopian and international food in the restaurant is delicious if a bit bland, a free shuttle is provided to the airport, a light rail station is nearby, and several ATMs are conveniently located in the lobby. At less than half the price of the Hilton, it provides most of the same amenities...a very good value for upscale travelers.

Staff where very forgetful, had to reorder stuff constantly. Wifi was slow and TV was an issue. Not 5* for what I paid for my stay. Sadly will not stay again.

my five day stay was great, all was good and perfect except for two incident that marred the duration of my stay. [1]on check in day, I was given a standard room instead of a superior room. For the difference in price , it makes no sense to stay in a superior room. only a small area larger with the superior room, nothing more special.[2] They failed or forgot to clean my room on one of the days.
