Sold the room I booked weeks in advance

Although I reserved and paid for a double bed room weeks ahead of time, when we checked in, the front desk told us that they were sold out. They then offered me and my friend a single full bed handicap room right off the lobby. We took it because we were tired, hungry, and had traveled for all day. It was very noisy. Just a miserable stay.

Staff was pleasant and helpful! Location was okay- due to city construction the pathway to beach was an obstacle however the hotel warned ahead of time. The room was very outdated and in need of working TV, draining shower, and updated furniture and curtains. However all the older historic hotels I’ve stayed at in a Miami Beach are the same way.

This property looks nothing like the advertised room photos and property. The rooms lights did not work properly and the elevator was so slow and seemed highly unsafe. There were no bed covers and hair left in the shower from previous guests. Awful!

Bathroom and sheets dirty. Took a long time to wait for our room to be ready. Lots of construction

this is actually the worst place ever!! So dirty and cockroaches and some of the staff are very strange. Terrible experience. The hotel is actually falling apart. Location is good, right by beach but otherwise terrible.

Authentic, a bit run down, but a classic!

Went for this past valentines day with my partner. The outer part of the hotel is just old. Nothing that really rose suspicion. Service was good as well, one of the ladies in the front was super nice and welcoming! Our room was standard. The bathroom could use upgrades but overall, it was not an awful hotel. I wouldn't pay attention to most of the reviews. At most the hotel has aged, and I think it adds to the charm. Plus, you're really there for the location. Being less than a minute away from the beach and the restaurant attached to the hotel were the main positives. In summary, the hotel itself isn't horrible but there's room for improvements and upgrades. Those who are looking for just a place to stay to enjoy the city and the beach, I'd stay here for original Miami charm. If you're expecting a high-class experience, draining your wallet elsewhere is probably the best choice. We enjoyed our stay and WILL be coming back!! Go to the Broadmore if you want REAL Miami charm.

Slow Elevator

The hotel itself was nice and we enjoyed our stay. The only issue was the elevtor was extremely slow.

Very dirty, eerie entrance, staff without uniforms, hair in the bathroom, very bad smell, and the hotel is very old with an outdated structure.

We stayed on the 14th, 15th, 16th - a terrible hotel! Doesn't match any description! Dirt everywhere, both in the room and outside the room! Cockroaches, in the toilet it's just scary to touch everything! My friends and I were shocked! We travel often, but this was our first time here! The reviews are lies!!!!!!!

Easy access to the beach, to dining, transportation, shopping, pharmacies, coffee.

The blankets were not clean at all. They smelled terrible and had some hair on them. The beds were broken and creaked at the slightest movement, making it difficult for me to sleep well.

Feb 2025 getaway

If you are looking for fluff and pampering..this is not the place. If you are looking for a clean yet small place to sleep and shower then this is it. Elevator is painfully slow. Staff was friendly. Parking was not convenient...had to pay $1/hour from 8am-11pm. Police were there at 7:55am waiting to ticket! Beach was just out the door. $20/day resort fee got ya a lounge chair pick up right on the beach. Overall an ok place and price was good.

I want my money back. I don't know how to get it. I felt my life was in jeopardy. Nobody seemed to care. My room was dirty. It's our rats, you know, never use you guys again

Inexpensive for the location but that is because it is a very tired hotel. They lied to me on check-in telling me that it was full so I couldn’t have the ocean view room I had booked - I ended up in a twin with a window so dirty it was almost impossible to see the manky courtyard. The next morning I complained and got the room I booked - clearly hadn’t been full. The view of the ocean was lovely. The rooms had peeling paint and stains on the Lino floor. The bathroom was exceedingly basic. Just a fridge in the room. The room was clean but the stairs and other floors were dirty. The aircon was so loud it kept waking me up when it turned on. Good location.

This was the worst hotel experience I’ve had. The images on their website are completely misleading and do not reflect the actual condition of the hotel. The elevator was out of service, forcing us to carry our luggage up five flights of stairs. The place lacked cleanliness, and to make things worse, the staff was unresponsive to our concerns. Do not be deceived by the pictures online—this hotel is nothing like what they advertise. I strongly advise against staying here.

We went on a cruise and wanted to stay an extra day in Florida to enjoy the beaches. Pros: This property is on right on the beach and was an affordable price. You get 2 lounge chairs as part of your booking. The staff was very friendly and nice. We were there early and they allowed us to leave our luggage at the desk until our room was ready. Cons: The pictures make it seem like this is a cool retro hotel but it is in really bad shape. Look at every picture and add 20 years of neglect and that is what it actually looks like. There was bloody Kleenex in the hall and it was overall pretty dirty once you got past the lobby. The sheets had stains and the shower did not drain. I probably could have stayed there but my wife refused and we ended up leaving and going to a different hotel. If you are looking for a cheap hotel right on the beach this may be ok but just understand that the cost is a reflection of the condition and age.

The worst place I ever been

I recently spent almost a week at this hotel and had an overall pleasant stay. The highlights include: - **Comfortable Bed:** My bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring restful nights. - **Amenities:** I appreciated having an ironing board and iron in the room, which made getting ready each day a breeze. - **Room Air Conditioner:** The room air conditioner worked perfectly, keeping the room cool and comfortable. - **Entertainment:** The TV was in great working condition, providing a good range of channels. - **Convenient Dining:** There's a delightful taco restaurant right downstairs, which was convenient for grabbing a quick and tasty meal. - **On-Premise Laundry:** Having laundry facilities on the premises was a major plus. - **Beach Convenience:** The hotel offers beach towels and chairs, and you can rent an umbrella directly from them, which made my beach days hassle-free. While my stay was enjoyable, I feel there's always room for improvement, which is why I'm giving a solid 4-star rating. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient stay.

Staff was nice - Building was far from what is on pictures. Pictures are very misleading. Parking possible only if you get up early to pay.

Although this hotel is old and needs some renovations I can say that the staff exceeds expectations in all areas of customer service. We had a room that the shower drained very slow and right away they switched us to a better room. Their elevator is slow but stairs are conveniently located if you can use them. I would like to say thank you to AJ for his excellent efforts in keeping guests safe and ensuring they make it to their rooms safely when it’s late at night or they need help. The other 4 people we encountered at the front desk were also very nice shared great information about things to do and places to see.

Its sad to me that we were warned 3 times at check in that the elevator is slow very slow well our entire stay we went up snd down flights of stairs because they clearly know there is a BIG problem with their elevator and refuse to fix it. We were in room 303 and the bathroom and "closet" area have black mold clear as day, my husband found a large piece of glass under the bed. The cleaning was the worst job ive ever seen this place used to be so much better now its trash!

Old Art Deco character hotel. Basic accommodations, buzzy restaurant off lobby and excellent local for beach, park, parking and local flavor shops and cafes. Beats the corporate highrise routine and price reflects slightly down-market rooms.

Bad Experience

Our original room was 108 the key wasn't working tried 4 different ones still not working... When we got to our room 318 the hot water wasn't working and the tub was Dirty in 318.

Not the best

The ONE elevator was EXTREMELY SLOW. Even with bad news I walked up and down 4 floors rather than wait the extended time for the elevator. The condition of the hotel was definitely 1 star or less. It needs a complete renovation. However GREAT location right on the beach.

Good for before or after a cruise

The hotel is in desperate need up updating. There were cigarette buns on the toilet seat, the flooring in our room was discolored and (it looked like burned) in some places. The TV had screen burn so it wasn't worth watching. This being said, the hotel itself was clean, I saw no bugs or obvious things that needed to be cleaned. The location was great. There is construction in front of the building so you need to walk around the parking lot to get to the beach. The hotel also provides two beach chairs that were included in the price of our room. This was a great addition.

Best taco bar ever!!

Worst stay I have ever had. Building was old run down, elevator.. well just take stairs... have to use public parking area. no real details how to get in building. Found hair in the towels. Area was kinda sketchy. For the price we paid wish I had gone somewhere else.

Not so clean and rooms were smelling bad

This hotel is not what i was expecting. The lobby area is decorated for the hotel era and it looks good. The bed in our room was probably as old as the hotel. The bed was sunken in at the middle. The slats were broken. The room needs a good deep clean. Urine on the base of the toilet on the tub side. The elevator is the slowest elevator i have ever used. The up side is there are lots of restaurants and excellent bakeries plus drug stores near by.

Run down hotel! Horrible! No cleaning after 3 days, rugs were filthy.they were repairing the from part of the street so no parking available! Could not sleep because of the noise! The battery of the smoke detector started beeping! The area is very sketchy so it felt very unsafe! I got sick and left before I completed my stay…. NEVER GOING BACK THERE AGAIN! This place should not be on Expedia! I don’t think it meet the sanitary standards.

Great location and lobby but the room was awful and gross. No curtains just broken shades and really bright lights outside the window. The AC barely worked and was so so loud.

I am not sure, i will stay here again because of the construction and cleanliness of this property

Beautiful historic building but it is in rough shape. Great location but there is construction occurring in front of hotel. Looks like they are improving the broadwalk. When complete this area will be awesome with sidewalks, fountains, and park. It has easy access to beach with beach chairs. Staff was great and Richie was super helpful. Shower was hot with strong water pressure. This place is not for anyone that is a Karen.

It sucked. 1 night stay

There was no phone in the room. How do you call the front desk? I called from my cellphone for ice..was told its in the basement. Had to take the stairs. Elevator was very slow. I get down there and its like a boiler room with lockers. There were like 2 english channels on the tv rest were spanish. Dont forget the construction outfront there was no parking . They told us to park behind the library. In which we did and we got a $36 ticket. It was a nightmare. No services whatsoever. I got oceanview but the windows were so dirty you could hardly see it. Dogs barking and screaming kids at 8 am. Knock it down and build a marriott.

Hotel under Construction

Construction from 1am- 4am in the middle of the night. They would not check us out the following morning. This hotel is a scam. We would have been better if sleeping in our car

Older place, just a room for the night

I did not like that the tub clogged also there was a roach in the room. The pool was also very dirty, there wasn’t enough sheets for the beds as well.

FIX THE ELEVATOR!!!!

It was under construction in the area around the hotel. Don't get me wrong the staff was amazing but the building was not as they showed it.

Amazing the only thing there was construction

The area had construction on all fronts. Charged for resort fees when we could not even use any of the facilities due to rain and wind, and when the weather was better, no one manned the beach chair post.

Major construction going on at the property. No mention of this when booking. Very old hotel. Tiny bathrooms, dirty condition overall very sketchy feel.

I love this property because of how old it is. They are remodeling but its still super old. Scarface times, the original Miami Beach. Its nostalgic!

Nice Ocean front hotel, directly on beach with parking next door for $10 per day. Extremely nice staff.

You have to pay a $20 fee a day supposedly for towels but they never came in my room and changed the towels.

It was ok. Thats it.
