Have stopped at this property on numerous occasions as it is situated near to my place of work and I find it very comfortable, with restaurants and supermarkets close by.
Britainia
Excellent value for money. Very quiet room
Lovely hotel
I've been to this hotel a few times and it's one of the nicest hotels I've been to the staff of friendly the breakfast is really nice the room is nice and spacious and clean
We were cold in our room as the heater was programmed and virtually unworkable and despite asking for a heater we never got one. Breakfast was excellent and positioned centrally was bus connections to the station and almost everywhere locally
The room is was freezing cold when I arrived and only had a small electric heater, also only had a summer weight duvet on bed. Basin plug didn't work so couldn't have a shave
The hotel is priced correctly, it is all Ok. I had a small double, you could tell the mattress was quite old but was comfortable for 1 too small for 2. Bathroom was ok, shower was small. No bar, but plenty of pubs and bars around the hotel. The question is would I stay there again, answer - if the price was right, yes, but there is a lot of competition at that price bracket.
Central and close to all the sights..good value.
The hotel functioned well. Great breakfast and a great location with buses to the station, No 6 , sadly despite asking we were cold in our room and resorted to using the hair dryer to warm it up. Value for money definitely.
Budget hotel but was very clean , basic but comfortable. Would recommend if you are on a tight budget . Staff friendly , buffet breakfast was good for the price .
Perfect location cleanliness
Great location, really helpful staff. Overall very good value for money.
Breakfast was ok included and quiet
Property was very quiet for such a well located spot.
Good breakfast options. clean
Centrally located, friendly staff. Clean room.
Very basic
Room was very basic. The bed woke us every time we moved. We had an issue with our shower but, it was fixed quite quickly.
Excellent Value for Money
Fantastic value for money. Modern, clean, excellent staff and excellent breakfast. Best value for money budget hotel in Brighton
Staff excellent
Lovely hotel and great value for money. Stayed here numerous times now great location but far enough not to be noisy for clubs and bars. Lovely choice of breakfast. Will book again
I stayed for 3 nights here. The room was clean and well equipped. The bed was comfortable and the shower worked as expected. No complaints at all for the price. The breakfast options are limited. Your only cooked options are sausage, bacon, tomato, scrambled egg, beans and toast. If you catch a member of staff they can make you fried eggs however they are often in the kitchen and not accessible to ask. The location is the best feature of this hotel. There is a bus stop less than a minute walk away. The beach is under 5 minutes away and there are countless shops in walking distance. You have very limited contact with the staff. You check in and out with minimal communication. I did not have any reason to speak to any member of staff during my stay but I'm sure they would be friendly should I have had to. Would recommend to anyone looking for a budget stay in central Brighton.
Very friendly staff. Simple, but clean room and bathroom. Other reviews mentioned noise, but I did not experience any noise. Breakfast was very nice. Convenient location close to everything and a short walk to the friend I was visiting. Very nice stay. Thank you.
like akways perfect reception perfect rooms perfect breakfast
Hotel is undergoing repairs and construction to the facade of the building. Nowhere does it mention it in the description.
Good price good room
Uncomfortable creaky bed that woke you up everytime you moved. Tv didnt work ( reported to reception & it got sorted) . Didnt clean our room between days so no clean towels .
Perfect spot for a few days in Brighton.
Ideal simple base for Brighton visit. Friendly and efficient staff and comfortable room, plus reasonable breakfast.
A very easy place to stay. Good breakfast. Very clean. Extremely good value.
Staff were friendly/helpful and location/price was excellent. Facilities were clean but a few items (e.g. television connection lead) in the room were in need of repair. Overall I'd recommend this as a decent budget hotel option.
Handy for the Brighton Centre and trains, good breakfast, clean and staff were friendly.
Excellent for price
Good hotel at price. Reception greeting was frosty. Lady not happy that I had to push door as I had not realised, due to no noise...then she refused to smile ..all very awkward. Room was clean and free breakfast was nice.
All Good!
Stayed whilst my own local property has a new bathroom installed. Have stayed here numerous times before and all is good.
Great property and awesome central location with tons of cute shops and restaurants around.
this hotel should really be classified as a hostel with individual rooms. The photos in the website are incredibly misleading. Firstly it’s totally overpriced at £150 for one night when there is not so much as a bottle of water in the room. it’s a very depressing building on a main street . there is no air con and the rooms look like empty offices with a bed and cheap desk in and one harsh light. you have to open the window to be able to breathe as that lets all the street noise in. the inside handle on my door was hanging off. the walls are paper thin, everyone comes and goes slamming the doors behind them . drunk guests making a load of noise at night . it feels like a glorifies prison cell at london prices. I don’t feel very safe and ended up propping a chair against the door which i’ve never done. Again, you’re led to believe it is actually a hotel but that’s a a bit of a stretch. it’s an utterly depressing experience and you should probably only booo this place if there’s absolutely nowhere else and u just need to sleep. possibly the worst ‘hotel’ in brighton / hove . . it’s an £80 room at best. Avoid if u want a nice comfortable , safe stay.
Smart tidy hotel , good location . Would stay again .
It was good apart from an incident that took place on a Wednesday night when the room was mistakenly booked 2 times 2 people and then it was ok after sorted. I was shocked to find the fridge in the wardrobe
Floor in the room was not swept/cleaned every day. Bed was never made. Top of desk and bedside table wasn't dusted.
Really great hotel, clean and tidy xx friendly staff and really close to the sea front xx nothing too much problem xx
Clean, spacious, friendly
Friendly staff, clean and spacious rooms! I stayed here for 2 nights and found it hard because of reviews to pick somewhere but I would come here again. My first night I had a bad night because the bed was unconfortable but the receptionist put me into a different room straight away and it was so much better. It is clean, the showers are really good! The pressure and temperatures were spot on. The free breakfast was a nice touch also. The only thing I can say is that because of the location there are a lot of noises on the streets throughtout the night.
A clean, friendly & helpful Stay
Signage to cafe, on the door at end of passage way would have been helpful. Lighting above mirrors either in the bedroom or bathroom was not ideal for putting on makeup or fixing / drying hair as electric outlet was also to far away for hairdryer, although this was just a minor irritation. Room was clean, although decor could do with refreshing, bed was comfortable and I had got a good night's sleep :-). The staff were friendly and helpful, Breakfast was good, Close to shops, public transport and only 5 minutes' walk to the beach, I was happy with my stay.
nice room
room was clean main problem was noise from bathroom fans in other rooms which sometimes disturbed my sleep and street noise early in morning which I know is beyond your control, also access steps to cafe, which need a hand rail as I have a balance problem. apart from that we had a nice stay
Easy place to stay. Traditional English breakfast, plus other options, including vegetarian. Comfortable room, quiet despite being on a busy shopping street. Nice staff.
Nice basic hotel with lovely helpful and friendly staff Handy for attractions and station.
good things were the free safe and fridge in the room, the room was also quiet, not so good was the food, badly burnt tomatoes put out at breakfast ! just do some more ! and cold plates, its not hard to have a plate warmer
Our stay was lovely. Friendly staff, clean comfortable room & a lovely breakfast. Great location, if a bit noisy at night! Would definitely stay again.
Well located close to shops and restaurants on Preston St. Great for my stay
Great place to stay in Brighton, at a good price
Booking is slightly misleading - Parking or public transport then underneath suggests no parking on site. Expensive public car parks made this trip a third more expensive. Hotel is like student accomodation but did the job.
Good hotel
Was very good. Although noisy bathroom fan and poor toilet flush it was a good room and stay.
Staff were super helpful. Clean comfy room. had a great nights sleep.
No good experience gap under door which let noise in waking me intermittently when people talking in corridor. Wrong choice of wall decoration wall painting dull no proper curtains room small very expensive for that price
The rooms at Britannia Study Hotel are much larger than the usual hotels in the UK, considering that this is classified as a budget hotel. It is very conveniently located on a main throughfare with several supermarkets, a Mark & Spencer, a mall and many restaurants nearby. Only 5 minutes walk to the seafront; 10 minutes to Brighton Pier and 10 minutes to The Royal Pavilion and Brighton Museum and Gallery.
This hotel far exceeded my expectations by a long way from the warmest of welcome by the team to the comfortable rooms to the superb buffet breakfast together the central location which makes for a famous value for money place to stay. Absolutely wonderful.
Great Location in City Centre.
Overall a good stay....Needs a little TLC and still no USB points in the rooms!!
"Study Hotel" - What's That Then?
The room I had was larger than most I've stayed in lately with minimum, but functional, furniture which reflected the study approach with open shelving for books above the desk. There were also ample accessible sockets so I didn't need to unplug a device in order to make a cuppa. As a sleep apnoea sufferer, I was delighted that the modern trend in hotels to not provide a socket at the bedhead had been ignored and I was able to hook up my machine without having to lay cabling across the room. Little things like this count for a lot. I vaguely remember the building from when it was an office block, and I was pleased to see the windows and some other original features have been retained, though conversion has meant that it's a bit warren-like. I was delighted to find that windows, though not double-glazed, kept the noise out which helped satisfy my request for a quiet room. The floors are of wood and while I was aware I was probably clomping around above somebody else, I didn't hear anything myself. Very noisy extractor in the shower room but that's not unusual. All in all, clean and comfortable with helpful staff. Breakfast selection was restricted but adequate and mostly tasty. On both days, the sausages had tough skins even though I was first in one day. My wife - who understands that stuff - told me that might mean they were microwaved which would be lazy. There's a British flag in the logo so... Disappointing sausages aside, I would definitely stay again!
Clean and presentable room with all facilities. Located in one of the main high streets with shops and eateries very close by, but no noises could be heard in the room. Only issues were bedside lamp not working and a noisy extractor fan in bathroom but the rest of room and facilities made up for these.
Nice
All good, have stayed numerous times.
Basic and clean ideal for 1 night stay in center of town , shower gets very hot ,lots of students reside there
Not wheelchair accessible, unless you can get out and into a stair lift chair?! Even though after calling to ask if it was accessible I was told yes we have a lift, hmm big difference between a lift and a stair lift!! Two people on front desk weren't too bothered about the fact I couldn't get to the room. Appalling customer service.
Good
Generally good.
Exactly like the photo and everything mentioned was provided.
Very good value and really well located. Spacious rooms.
The hotel is good and the rooms are good also and the breakfast is very good for the price you pay. The only thing spoiling this hotel but not hotels fault is the amount of scoungers sitting around outside or coming up to you asking for money, really done my head in and spoilt my night out 😡
Very comfortable stay. Short walk to theatre. Bus stops very closeby. Great breakfast selection. Surprisingly quiet!
Good
One satisfied customer
The room was spacious and had all the amenities I needed. The bed was comfortable so I was able to get a good night's rest. The staff were friendly and helpful although they did not tell me that I could use the room key to gain access to the property when there was no one at reception. Other than that I had no issues and would recommend the hotel for its great location, excellent price and good condition.
Everything was great especially the location, but if you need soft pillows to sleep you may have an issue. My pillows were very firm and I literally couldn’t sleep on them. Aside from that, plenty of restaurants, cafes, bars and the beach all within walking distance.
Very nice place
Always a good stay
Always great to stay here. Clean, quiet and comfortable.
Made us very welcoming
Good location and reasonable price
Few minutes walk to the beach. Lots of great restaurants nearby.
Everything you need is right here
One night stay to attend the university in the morning. Well equipped rooms with everything you need.
Nice basic hotel.
Nice place to stay, good location for town and beach. Area a bit noisy and parking horrendously expensive. Nice breakfast
Staff were really friendly room was clean lots of choice for breakfast
Great hotel as ever. Perfect location and value for money. Shame room was extremely hot
Great breakfast hotel was within easy reach of everything and beach only 5 min away parking was expensive in a nearby car park
breakfast was amazing. rooms were kept and cleaned very nicely. convenient location.
They do not accept kids under 16 years. This is not acceptable as they did not inform me during the booking.
I was pleasantly surprised how clean it was and how friendly the staff were especially on the desk. Also liked the security aspect.
Perfect
Perfect not a bad word to say about it all, room was lovely, breakfast was good selection and nice, staff were very friendly and would do anything for you.
Great value for money.
Value for money
Very good value for money and with breakfast. Good size rooms. No air con but doesnt bother me. Not so nice outside but it is on the middle of the high street so convenient for everything. Beach, station, shops. Clean basic decor. Mini fridge very handy. Always stay if need budget.
Great breakfast and good location
Staff were great. Room basic, but clean and comfortable. Lift out of order. Ceiling light bulb failed.
Central , close to the beach 🏖️ ,nice.
Lovely hotel and you get what you pay for. Able to check in early and leave bags the next day. Very easy check in and great location. Will definitely be back for another stay. Breakfast is great the next morning included in price.
Recommended
Stay was overall good. Fridge started making some banging sounds around 3am, thought someone was trying to get into the room but after unplugging and other than that, good location. tidy and clean
Best part about staying here is the cleaning staff who do a good job. The reception staff where excellent, the breakfast was really good and worth paying for. Location couldn’t be better. Only neg is there’s no real parking. Had to park 20 minutes away cost £73 for 3 days.
"cheap and uncheerful"! 1. NO STAFF at the reception desk when I arrived, so I (& other guests) had to wait outside. When she came, the receptionist was charming ... but you need TWO people so that the reception is always staffed 2. My bedside light was not working but I was too tired to complain on the night I arrived. I reported it TWICE the next morning but it hadn't been fixed when I got back that evening. 3. The main road is full of traffic and pretty scruffy (though I note that improvements are being made). I guess the place is ok if you need a cheap place to stay, fairly near the station, but it's not for you if you want an attractive place with character! 4. On a positive note, all the staff are charming
Non functioning facilities
Highlighted issues with front desk about the toilet not working properly in my room. Aware that someone went into my room once due to a door blocking my way in when I returned. The toilet continued to not work and I had to avoid using it fully until I had no choice. I was never offered an alternate room, nor any information when I highlighted the issue repeatedly.
Great Escape
Upon arriving at the hotel, i was greeted with a friendly reception & check-in was quick and easy ! I stayed in the same double room i booked and it met my requirements for the duration of my stay. I also had a lovely buffet breakfast which was included in the price of the booking.
Great hotel for a long weekend
It was great. Really central and a very comfortable bed. The breakfast is also an added bonus. We will be revisiting.
Friendly staff, room had everything we needed, good breakfast selection, hotel in walkable distance to theatre and station
It was perfect, great value 4money, central. We go at least once or twice a year an have never stayed here b4, we definitely will b staying again 👍👍
Perfect
Really good value for money. Breakfast was really good and more than generous.
Spotlessly clean. Friendly and efficient staff. Central location. Good value for money.
Great budget hotel
We had a nice stay. The rooms are very budget, you get what you pay for. The staff at reception were friendly and helpful, as were the breakfast staff. Our room was very clean but little things like the toilet paper was super thin & cheap and there were no pens/ glasses in the room. Also to not have tea milk and tea bags was a bit rubbish considering they’ve gone to town with fridges in the room (a lovely touch). Our room was quite small so we didn’t spend a lot of time in it. The bed was squeaking loudly one side & the mattress wasn’t the comfiest but not the worst either. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Overall great, brilliant location but just little things missing to make us come back again.
