Magic and heaven :)
We made a spur of the moment decision to travel to Vanuatu for our 24th wedding anniversary. We stayed at Breakas for 4 nights and it was pure heaven and indulgence. We were given a beachfront bungalow that couldn’t get any closer to the water. It was perfection itself! The service is so good, everyone is friendly and kind. The breakfast was beautiful - so much lovely fruit and those pancakes are divine! The infinity pool, crystal clear ocean, friendly local sea turtle just added to the magic - oh and the Friday night fire show!
I had a magical time, all the staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. The place was spotless! Beautifully kept! The food was delicious and the entertainment was brilliant! I will recommend this place to anyone who would like to feel connected to the beautiful hospitality of Vanuatu. Thank you Breakers for such a wonderful experience.
We stayed 5 nights, a room that was very close to the road. At night you heard people parting from the local kava bar across the road and a small business grinding and hammering till after midnight every night. We woke most mornings at 5am as the staff used a leaf rake on the paths around the room and talked loudly. The bathroom had green mould on shower walls. The bed was constantly covered in ants. We had to spray bug spray on the bed every night and clean ants off before sleeping. The mossie net does protect you from the gecko poo landing on you while sleeping. The breakfast was average. Dinner was good but expensive. The place is tired and needs a facelift. The wait staff are lovely. Was easy to get taxi and tours from just outside the gates. We stayed at another place too which was much nicer. We won’t stay here again.
We thought location was good, proximity to beach was excellent. Pool was lovely. Restaurant was expensive. No wifi in rooms was frustrating No a/c was also a bit hard to take. Rooms were very hot. Overall the place was nice. Staff were great
Bugs in rooms and no air conditioning
Beautiful, welcoming, & deeply relaxing. I'll be coming back. Staff were super lovely.
Great room (34) on ocean shade of massif trees watching surfing quite local bus out front 150 local currency to town & restaurants
Very relaxing 👍
Very good chef, beautiful bay, nice snorkelling and paddle boarding, the included breakfast was terrible, very limited and no proper coffee unless you want to pay astronomical prices. Was very expensive for example a packet of chips cost AUD 7.25. Meals AUD167 for 2
We were disappointed in the food. Only had dinner there the first night and it was very disappointing and expensive so we found other places much better. The breakfast, both the complimentary and a la carte were also ordinary. Everything else about the property is lovely.
Beautiful scenery, quiet and peaceful, staff very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately because it was still off season all the entertainment was cancelled which was disappointing, also the system of putting any meals and drinks on a room tab was not a good system, some where along the way we were charged more than we spent, we kept a record for ourselves on a daily basis so were aware of what we had spent on food and drink by the end of our stay. In fact, another guest had put down our room number for at least one of his meals, it was a genuine mistake on his part but the hotel staff didn’t pick up on the mistake until we queried our final bill and they had to look through all the receipts they had kept to verify this charge. Like I said we were not happy with this charge system and would highly recommend that during your stay you check your ongoing balance daily so you can keep track for when you get your final balance.
Natural setting with beach access. Very picturesque. Staff amazing
It's right on the beach and staff are super friendly. There are some other dining options within ten minutes walk. Will need a freshen up in a year or two.
Lovely room, pool and dining/bar area - beautiful setting. Food okay. Nice spot to relax. Wifi not good - fine if you’re having a relaxing stay but not if you need to do any work.
Friendly personnel, clean facilities, reasonable prices,
Our Fare had a lovely outlook over the cove.
The people and the culture
Breakas continues to impress Lovely bures in a lovely garden setting right by a nice scenic beach It has a wonderful pool right next to the beach as well The staff are some of the friendliest in Vanuatu (which is renowned for their friendly people ) and last but certainly not least the Head Chef Paulo and his team serve some of the best food you will currently find in Vanuatu with a great menu( mouth watering steaks) , nightly specials and great pizzas I really recommend Breakas as one of the top places to stay on Efate Vanuatu
Some of the staff were not very friendly, and were reluctant to help
Nice spot but to pay that much money for open air rooms, no wifi and no aircon is just terrible, the breakfast is way to basic compaired to where else we stayed its pretty much toast and juice and to get charged a $70 hotel fee when paying just to use a travel card was disgusting(3 other hotels in vanuatu didnt charge this)
Great property, nice beach and pool. Highly recommend for a relaxing stay.
The resturant was amazing. The chef, staff and food were exquisite.
Bungalows we’re quite nice.Staff especially in reception area were quite rude ,and not very helpful. Also things were expensive, food ,drinks and tours were all expensive.
Hidden Gem
This resort is like a hidden oasis on the island. It's a relatively short bus or taxi ride from the airport and we were greeted by friendly staff on arrival. The resort has a brilliant pool and beach front and a terrific bar that serves drinks and food. The restaurant offers breakfast, lunch and dinner and the food was excellent. The staff were all incredibly friendly and willing to help wit whatever we needed. This resort is great value and we would absolutely stay again
Need better wifi
The resort is absolutely beautiful. It's in a wonderful location offering a private beach and beautiful infinity pool .. best of both worlds. Very impressed with the staff how accommodating and friendly they were. The restaurant food was absolutely delicious and there was entertainment provided every night while enjoying your meal. Thoroughly recommend Breakas Beach Resort.
Very well maintained property. Be sure to use the beach gear and shoes in the surf. Meals were varied and excellent with a great wine selection and bar. Book theme nights early. A few nearby dining alternatives available. Breakfast is continental but a la carte cooked breakfast is available. Staff are attentive. Ordered coffee and no problem having it brought to your room when ready instead of watching and waiting. Likewise, pizza delivered to the beach for lunch. Another time left a note for the bed to be made up with extra blanket for the cool nights which was actioned. No TV in the room so bring a small projector for your midday movies. Wifi limited to reception area but mobile network & hotspot works well. Book reading under the palm tree on the beach was epic - should have asked for a hammock.
This resort has so much potential with a lovely pristine setting on lovely beach. The Villas were nice, friendly staff. However, much could be improved - no working television anywhare which would help on days of inactivity due to rain. Alternative activities could be improved - such as table tennis, pool table,, beach volley ball - there was little to do for us while in rained. Also Wifi signal strength was weak - only available in small area. Please expand and improve your wifi. Even better - provide it near the villas!!. Enjoyed our stay, but it could be so much better for liitle effort. Steve
If you like Glamping (glamorous camping) this is the place to stay. The beach is lovely and easy to relax upon, the beach bar is nice and restaurant dinners are really good. The rooms are very basic and are basically a queen sized bed, small fridge and outdoor bathroom. There is nothing particularly comfortable about the room and your paying for the beachfront location. Breakfast is basic…tinned fruit, cheap breakfast cereals and bread, instant coffee. Suggest going to Cafe Vila down the road for a decent breakfast and skipping breakfast all together.
We had an amazing time at Breakas Resort. The staff were fantastic and it was lovely to be in an 'adults only' resort which made it very peaceful. Highly recommend for a beautiful, relaxing break with a great pool and fabulous ocean views
Hot water in the open air shower didn’t work & it was very smoky the night we stayed, due apparently to burning garbage in the vicinity, to the point I had to wear a face mask to sleep. The property is a bit isolated so not many options in walking distance.
Beautiful spot, amazing food and staff friendly, easy to get public transport to get into the city
The staff were fabulous, super friendly and helpful. The location right on the waterfront on Pango beach is beautiful. The huts were lovely. Outdoor dining by the pool was a great experience, good food and excellent entertainment every night. We loved our stay and we’ll be back.
Very basic for the costs charged as opposed to other resorts .
Breakas was the perfect location for our honeymoon. The staff were fantastic!! They were helpful, friendly, and spent time to make us as comfortable as possible. The security guard who is on duty between 6am and 2pm (i didn't catch his name) was so lovely. He always made sure he flagged us down a good bus and took the time to talk to us. The staff in the bar and restaurant were lovely, always offering to bring cocktails and food right to us on the beach. It was such a great experience. The farès were comfortable and kept clean, you always felt like you were in your own private paradise. It was close enough to port vilas main strip that getting in and out was a breeze. Any bus we got on the drivers and locals made us feel comfortable. Highly recommend breakas for an adults only getaway!
The location/position of this resort on the lagoon was very relaxing and calm. Friendly staff, very comfortable, clean & spacious room. Highly recommended, I would definitely return.
I stayed in room 34 which cost extra because it came with beach views. However, people still decided to sit between my balcony and the beach view. I had to get into an argument telling somebody to not sit right outside my balcony. There needs to be signs put up outside rooms 33-36 saying it is a private seating area for those rooms. They cost extra money and that view should be a private viewing area for those residents only.
The greeting at check-in was exceptional, and the staff throughout our stay were all wonderful (very friendly, very helpful, and really nice people. The dining (we ate breakfast, lunch and dinner at the resort most days) was really good, with a lot of options and some very high quality food on offer. The landscaping is quite lovely, with the large trees and greenery a real treat to look at by day and when lit up at night. Very nice beach with plenty of deck chairs on which to lie and relax to the sound of the surf. Elsa at the tour desk is amazing -- her recommendations are faultless and her ability to set up tours for you at a moment's notice remarkable.
Starting to be a little tired with our fridge/freezer not working properly and getting smoked out over a couple of evenings by the resort neighbours burning rubbish. Pool and bar was amazing though you need reef shoes if you are planning on swimming in the ocean. I would strongly recommend that you take your own snorkle equipment with you as the tour ones and resort ones are not much chop,
I got robbed on my first night at the resort so this got me off the worst possible start. The staff moved me to a room closer to reception which I appreciated.
Dining was a bit disappointing although we found out the chef had gone on holidays. No activities unless they were outside of the resort.
Such a wonderful week! Beautiful, relaxing and indulgent, and hospitality was amazing!
A beautiful little resort that felt like home while we were away
Right on the beach. Breakas treat you to a unique accommodation experience. Staff are very friendly and willing to help in anyway possible. The bungalows are not air-conditioned, but have cieling fans. Gor me personally this is a plus.
The staff were amazing Mantou and his team looked after us so well. Alsa was great organising tours , the pool was great and the cocktails at happy hour just fantastic . The facilities are a little worn which is understandable given the weather damage . Overall had a great stay
The staff were amazing, so friendly and helpful. Facilities are really good value for the price and the food was excellent. Be aware that the rooms do not have air conditioning and can be a little warm at night but that’s the only small thing I could say negatively about our stay. We had a fantastic time and I would recommend that it’s worth a visit
The pool and ocean views were as advertised. The snorkeling off the bay was fantastic even though the gear provided was not well maintained, would advise to bring your own. The rooms were ok, but the fixtures were very old/dirty and there were often dead cockroaches on the floor. The service was pretty bad in the sense that you had to seek out the staff to ask for anything you wanted and sometimes got an eye roll in return. We can give compliments to Elsa & Cindy who were very friendly and knowledgeable and were engaging at all times. The food was mediocre.
Quiet location with a private beach and great snorkeling on the reef. The staff are so friendly and helpful. For a beach break to switch off this is a great choice. The bungalows are a bit tired and could do with a little attention, but they are still lovely and a great place to stay. Make sure you lock the door to the bathroom though! A guest in the bungalow next to ours had items stolen and access was gained through the open-air shower into their room. We had no problems though and spent a blissful week there.
No Wi-Fi at the whole resort, dirty rooms, lousy breakfast, definitely not a 4star hotel. We left after one night
Gorgeous views snd great food,!
The staff are all amazing
Beautiful location and very friendly Staff
Amazing location and very beautiful beach and pool. Good food and bar. Very friendly staff and nothing was too much. No air conditioning and fans only did make heat and humidity tough at times.
This is definitely not a 5 star resort more like a 2 star. Booked and paid for an ocean view hut but none available so moved into a garden room. Met several other people in the resort who also had the same problem. Rooms are open to the elements so when it rains (which it did every day) the bathroom was covered with debris, and also the wild life came in (the rooms came with bug spray and mosquito coils what more do I need to say). The room was covered in ants every day, geckos then came to eat the ants, there was no air conditioning and several days no hot water in the showers. There was no where to get away from the heat in any part of the resort. There was no comfortable chair anywhere in the resort. There were a total of only 12 deck chairs for the whole resort which were on the beach, none near the pool. The pool was surrounded by sand, there was only sand paths to the rooms. The service was awful - 50 minutes to get a cocktail over an hour to get a pizza. Worse place I have ever been and more like a bad caravan park than a 5 star resort. Everyone we spoke with at the resort said that they would never go back again.
location for swimming was great
The staff was very welcoming and super helpful
We enjoyed the holiday and stay. The food was great and reasonably priced. Rooms could do with a tidy up, I would say 3 star for rooms but in general a nice place.
Good venue for a short break
Overall the venue is very picturesk, clean and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The downside and is probably due to me not reading the details is full when booking is that there is no air conditioning in the bedrooms, so on humid nights it was hard to sleep. Also the sound proofing between the villas is not great, we could hear our Neigbour’s talking at night. Also I felt the happy hour drinks were a bit misleading but again that is probably down to me not reading all the details in full.
This was our 3rd visit to Breakas over the last 4 years. Vanuatu seems in good shape post covid overall. Breakas food quality and wait staff service levels seems to have declined a little but is still OK. Great location, friendly staff. Saw a turtle at the beach for the first time.
Absolutely beautiful setting with amazing sunsets with pool and beach great. Accommodation was authentic, private and clean but we most enjoyed the friendliness of the staff and the wonderful food provided by the French chef. Far enough away from Port Vila to be quiet but very easy to pop into town on one of the transport options when required.
Beach, great food, sunset cocktails, friendly staff.
Breakas was a wonderful, safe , clean place to stay with the ever friendly Vanuatan staff. Lovely bures in the garden layout, really nice pool right on the beach front and some great food options meant we dined in a lot Thanks Breakas for a great getaway
our time at breakas was wonderful - thank you
some of the staffs were quite unfriendly and don't seem enjoy their job.
Stayed here in 2012 and it had aged a little. Still very good and enjoyable. Quiet and relaxing Helpful staff Like everywhere, life after Covid is challenging and some allowances have to be made in facilities and services. Highly recommend
We absolutely loved our week at Breakas. The location is great, beautiful beach which is not as windy as other beaches on Efate - it's more sheltered. The bungalows are spacious and very clean, we really appreciated the daily housekeeping service. The bungalows are nice spread out so that you have your privacy. But the best thing about Breakas is the staff - friendly, warm and kind. Nothing is a problem and we loved that every single member of staff you walk pass greets you :) Our only complaint would be that the hammocks were out of action. We were told the stands were to be painted although there was nothing happening in the week we were there so they could have been used.
Not happy with transfer, everything else was wonderful 😒
Staff extremely friendly, very helpful, beach view is very nice beach / sea area is too shallow and cant really swim or snorkel. the cost of diner and drinks is same or higher than in sydney , so be prepaired. Vanuatu is struggling with economy and try to charge tourist all the time but they make up for being the friendliest people and beautiful island.
Located in a sheltered bay providing safe swimming at high tide. Real topical and natural ambience.
The location is perfection. The staff are so wonderful and go above and beyond. Super easy to get into town by local bus (that come around all the time) but also far enough away that it felt completely secluded in an amazing way. It was just such a magical escape and beautiful part of the island.
very friendly staff, nice cocktails, property as described, nice private beach, snorkel gears available to borrow
From the moment we arrived and walked in we felt at home and our tanks being filled up. The place is beautiful, relaxing and shear joy. We were even given an extra fan to handle the humidity. The food was excellent and the free breakfast was great. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
What an awesome place. Staff were unbelievable food was amazing had dinner beside the pool best night. Couldn’t recommend it high enough and will definitely be returning for a longer stay
We had a wonderful time all round. The staff are so lovely and everyone goes out of their way to make sure you can chill and have a good time. Nice strong drinks and great food!
The staff were amazing and very friendly. They went out of their way to ensure my first trip to Vanuatu was unforgettable through, service, booking tours or just pointing me in the right direction. I would highly recommend this resort to any future travellers. If I had one fault it would be the no air conditions in room. You do get the nice sea breeze but due to the humidity I found sleeping comfortable was difficult. If they installed air conditioning I would rate this 10 out of 10 but I still thoroughly enjoyed my time
Awesome staff and location. Great pool area and lounge.
Beautiful place to stay Stunning and serene location only 10 minutes from Port Vila Friendly and attentive staff Will definitely return here again
It was amazing being so close to the sea and hearing the waves at night. The beachfront fare, was probably in need up an update but very comfortable. The resort itself is amazing, full of happy friendly staff with a great vibe in the evenings where everyone catches up on the day they had. Food is fantastic. Prices are approx same as AUS.
Great location, professionally run resort. The local bus service makes the town centre very accessible . Locals respect Breakas too for its excellent cuisine.
Beautiful beach and pool, the rooms were lovely, but no AC which was tough for us coming from a colder country.
This was our 2nd visit to Breakas. The first time was absolutely amazing. Hence our return. They have lost the very good manager and the excellent chef. In turn they have a cook that is below par and a manager who has no idea. Everyone at the resort was complaining. This is such a shame to see this resort go like this. The owners need to get on to these problems before it’s too late. We won’t be returning.
Relaxing time at beach resort
Good hotel resort with excellent food served on the beach relaxing overall and great relaxing massage
Everything was perfect!!! The staff was awesome. Our bungalow was beautiful. My boyfriend and I spent my birthday at Breakas and several of the staff members went out of their way to make it super special. They decorated our table with balloons and flowers and the Melanesian performers came over to our table and sang happy birthday to me. It was an experience I’ll never forget!! If you’re thinking of staying at Breakas, you DEFINITELY should do it! Best resort I’ve ever been to hands down.
The room had an amazing view & the staff were very pleasant lovely resort & no kids!
The resort was very visually appealing and very relaxing
We liked the fact that it was on the beach, however the access to the water was impeded by the coral and rocks . The food was good but the costs of a hot breakfast , 2 eggs and half a rasher of bacon was poor. The location of the resort was about 15 minutes by car out of Port Vila with very little to do outside the Resort. Be very careful in hiring dune buggies , cost is very expensive and the vehicles are rarely roadworthy we very nearly had a head on crash due to faulty steering. Aussie prices in restaurants not expected.
Very nice site. We appreciated the friendliness of the staff and their availability. Quality restoration. On the other hand, one of our nights was particularly disturbed by the incessant barking of dogs from 9:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., and then, in episodes, until the day.
Great place to stay for a few days, lovely staff and adults only
loved everything about this property relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, great food, although a little expensive.
Nice room near the beach gives total different experience. Very romantic and cozy place. Food isn't that great though.
Natural setting on the water front. Friendly staff ensured we had an enjoyable stay at Breakers.
Tropical paradise
Great relaxing few days all good food is of a very high standard and the free breakfast was a bonus
Very relaxing. Fan in room inadequate with no Aircon
Loved that it's a no-child resort and located right on the beach. Small enough to be feel personal, and big enough to have a beautiful pool, bar and restaurant.
The rudest and careless staff I met (I visited more than 70 resorts all over the world). They just care about thanking money from u, trying to sell extremely overpriced activities and transfers. Never smiling, never welcoming, always not caring. In 1 week, twice they didn’t clean our room and they didn’t even apologized. Breakfast is incredibly basic and low quality. Consider it a 2 stars hotel with an awful staff and service. Ridiculously overpriced for what they offer. The ONLY good thing was the beach bungalow. NEVER EVER AGAIN!!
If you want seclusion this is the right place! No tv or radio in your cabin which is perfect for that I need to get a away. Kinda like camping but with better beds and showers and service. Friendly staff and great food! Their restaurant has tasteful and different menu depending on the night! Have live entertainment each night which is a bonus! The only downside is when the beach current gets too strong so they close the beach for safety but that’s ok safety first! Otherwise plenty of buses to get to town and back so no problem with transport at all. Love the hut cabin. Thank you! A good place to stay if you want to escape from the city.
Loved the Friendly Staff and the Food Was Teriffic..
It was a great resort, the pool on the beach was beautiful.
Nice location, not far from town and cheap to get a bus there. Good beach area that never seemed crowded. Villas nicely set amongst the trees and garden. However it’s hard to agree about the food being amazing, it’s really just average and quite expensive, can recommend the pizza though. Staff were either happy and friendly or exactly the opposite which was a little annoying. Neat little cat in the grounds that will jump in your lap and have a sleep.

What a fantastic place. My wife and I stayed 5 nights, we were so relaxed it felt like we were away for much longer. The food at the restaurant is very good with a good variety to choose from.
