Perfect stay
This room was absolutely gorgeous, I felt like I was in a film. Very cute and quaint, I slept with all the curtains open as it was all so lovely outside. Felt very safe, in the nice old town. Was lovely to hear the music from the bars while I went to sleep. Slept here with my husband and 5 year old. Very comfy beds!
Good property
The stay and staff is brilliant but if you are going with the car the problem is the parking. There is free parking in the roads but they are very busy.
An amazing place! The room was so charming, and looked even better than the photo. Our host Matilda was unbelievably helpful. She got us taxis throughout our stay, gave us advice and just always had a great attitude. Lastly, and I'm not kidding, the hotel is central to everything: every time we thought we were lost, we'd turn the corner and the hotel was magically there. That's central!
Great location in Old Chania
It is a little hard to find but the communication with hotel was great. They were very helpful and accommodating. Parking is a little hard but given the area that’s expected. Very quaint. The hotel had all we needed.
Ohhhh Bozzali!!! I’ve been gone for 4 days now and I’m still thinking of my beautiful trip to Chania! Bozzali is this cute small, totally authentic hotel in the heart of Old town Chania. If you’re looking for a yoga studio, 24 hr gym and room service this place isn’t for you. Actually Chania, probably isn’t for you! But if you’re looking for a clean room with modern furnishings, in the LITERAL middle of everything Bozzali IS for you. The staff is SUPER helpful and stays out of the way but DOES check in with you periodically to make sure you have everything you need. They even have a poster on the wall with suggestions for everything you may be interested in going to! So thoughtful! When I was flying back to the states out of ATH I had a tear in my eye because I didn’t want to leave Greece. The agent called me out and said “you fell in love didn’t you? You fell in love with Greece!” And i SO Did. But when I think about Greece, it’s not Athens that pops up in my head. It’s the Old town alleys of Chania. Walking between the bustling outdoor restaurant tables. Waving to the Melodica staff and saying hi to Luisa the bar dog. And then ending my day in my room at Bozzali, TRULY a perfect Chanian oasis! I can’t WAIT to come back!!
We loved our stay at Hotel Bozzali which was conveniently located a few minutes walk from the harbour. Plenty of good bars and restaurants nearby. The room was clean and comfortable, and with kettle and fridge, home from home. We had a downstairs room with its own small terrace so we really got the feeling that we were living in Chania for the time we spent there. We loved that once we were checked in we were left to our own devices… I would whole heartedly recommend Hotel Bozzali 😊
Very difficult to find in the Dark, as the entrance is down a dark alley, and the sins aren't lit up. The only parking is on the street which is very limited. We stayed downstairs, if I was to return I would book a upstairs room, as the maid sets up camp in the Courtyard outside the only window of the downstairs room early in the morning, so not much privacy.
Just lovely!
Lovely room and lovely staff
AMAZING. The location is very convenient and maybe a 1-2 minute walk from the harbor. The taxi station is maybe a 5 minute walk if you’re not renting a car but other than that there is so much to do in old town. The staff was amazing, the owner was very kind. Maria, the chamber maid, was absolutely amazing and super sweet. Overall these people went out of their way to make our stay excellent.
Top location
Fabulous location, beautiful room, friendly staff-nothing to fault 😊
Very cute and spacious rooms, but slightly run down and could use a spruce. The hostess was very pleasant and helpful, but the office wasn’t available 24/7, so if you need anything, you’ll have to text the property to get it. the location is amazing!
Good location. Our room was big but dark, and the "courtyard view" was a small high window. No staff on site and woman doing check in was extremely rigid (no extra towels, no check in flexibility, no to everything). Lots of small broken things throughout room. I would not recommend.
Great location. Clean and big room. Bit of a hassle to find parking but manageable.
This property is very cute and I had a great three night stay. The location doesn’t get any better, it’s less than a five minute walk to the old Venetian harbour and it’s surrounded by great places to eat, drink, and shop. The room was nice and cleaned well everyday and the staff was really nice, and even walked me to a near by cafe to find something to eat while I waited for my room to be ready for check in. Would definitely recommend!
Good Stay
Great location. Large room. Front desk is practically never there so they didn’t really help much. Bed is big and very comfortable. Bathroom is a little outdated.
heart of old town
Great stay, perfect location and very helpful staff
Good value but still...
it is great value for money though a 4* it isnt but a good 3*. they advertise as free parking but its actually free parking on the street so its pot luck if you get a space or not which is why i picked the place as i had a car and i had to driver around 5 times before i got a space one evening. there was also drilling at 7:30am one morning that woke me up. there are also no english channels on the tv only approx 11 greek ones and most of them are scrambled recption . other than that the place was clean and comfortable
Cool crete
Very good location close to the harbour, restaurants, and bars, but on a quiet side street - no complaints and would recommend hotel and chania in general
B&B disguised as a 4 start hotel, it's not
Full of misgivings. It's not a 4 star hotel, on Google is a b&b without the breakfast. Paid for breakfast but was not forthcoming. No one ever at reception, were given keys and told how to get in and out. Woke up the first morning to go down to breakfast and meet with nobody. Sent the manager a message and he said they didn't do breakfast at this time of year. Mistake was with hotels.com and they would refund the difference. Don't expect a thing from them. Won't use hotels.com again. Second time I'm let down by them. Won't be a third. No help the first time and not even trying this time, have got better things to do with my time than waste it going backwards and forwards with them. Beware of the b&b and hotels.com, wont get what you pay for Disappointing
Good location in the old town near the harbour, shops and restaurants
Perfect location for old town and short walk to the beautiful harbour; lovely rooms discreetly positioned over courtyard or up twisting staircases. Although surrounded by cafes and nightlife, remarkably private and quiet. Staff very friendly and eager to enhance stay in any way possible, especially hardworking Albanian cleaner and breakfast maker.
cute boutique hotel!
Lovely little hotel. Everything is perfect! Close to everything! One thing is that to get to our room we had to climb through a lot of stairs, it's ok for us, but if you have accessibility problem maybe this is not your place :P
Cold shower
Negatives Cold Shower each day, owner said she would look into this. Request to pay cash/ credit cards on arrival even though I had already paid by hotels.com. Now I have a mess to sort out as I have 2 charges on my credit card Positive location is great and reasonable value.
Perfect location to tour the old town. 1 minute walk to the waterfront.
Bozzali is in an ideal part of the old city in a very charming neighborhood, with a quick walk down narrow cobblestone walkways to great coffee shops and restaurants. The room we stayed in was also lovely and cozy. The only complaint we had with the room was that our windows were right over a bar that was open very late with loud music playing. Not a problem if you aren't jetlagged or going out late! Also, there was rarely anyone working at the front desk, so you need to make a plan to meet up with someone to pay for your stay etc.
Very friendly and helpful owner. The location is fantastic and close to the harbour and yet in a quieter neighbourhood. Excellent breakfast too.
Bozzali is a charming, period hotel. It is traditionally appointed and perfectly situated in the bustling center Old Town Chania, yet surprisingly quiet and tranquil. Antonio proved to be an extremely helpful and hospitable host. The breakfast served in the adjoining restaurant each morning included a wide and tasty selection of fruit, cheese, meat, olives, tomatoes, baked goods, yogurt, cereal, etc. Bozzali epitomizes Old Chania.
Excellent location in central Chania . Has great hospitality and nothing was a problem for owner Antonio and Staff member Christina Had a late checkin and and enjoyable breakfasts ( continental ) As it’s location is central noise from bars , restaurants and passing locals can be heard but not excessive and only adds to the ambience of Crete with rustic buildings and alleyways and if you want total peace one should book a room in the mountains . Our one week stay was memorable at Bozzali and and was all very reasonably priced Suggest guests ask Antonio for restaurant suggestions as we did if you like Creten food instead of tourist style you won’t be disappointed as the traditional food was the highlight of our stay Thankyou Bozzali and Staff we look forward to return again Mark +Sue 🇳🇿
Nice boutique hotel in the old town.
What a find! This hotel has so much character! If you are looking for a modern high rise hotel this is not the place for you. But if you are like us and want a hotel with character this is the place. Cozy courtyards, spacious room (at least ours was), great location to walk to Old Town Chania. Antonio was a very attentive host. Our ferry arrived 3 hours late in Heraklion and then we had a 2 hour drive to Chania so we did not arrive at the hotel until 1:30 am. I had spoken to Antonio earlier to let him know we would be delayed and he greeted us happily in the middle of the night. Breakfast was filling with a nice selection and we did not go away hungry. Antonio also printed our boarding passes for our flights. Overall we were very happy with our stay. If I were to get nitpicky...the mattress was not the greatest but for our 3 nights stay it was satisfactory. Will definitely stay again if we can make it back to Chania!
BOZALLI drips charm and hospitality!
We cannot praise our stay at BOZALLI enough! From the moment that our charming host and owner Antonio greeted us we felt that we were at home! Our room was lovely, super clean and spacious with beautiful natural light. An electric teapot and fridge were provided and the bed was great. The staff was wonderful! Cristina is so lovely and baked an AMAZING fresh apricot cake for breakfast! She manages the evening bar and dinner service overlooking the lively but quiet street activity with bright pink bouganvilla hanging above us as we sipped our evening cocktails! Loved her Negronis! Antonio also is a great cook with a nice selection of pastas and other delish options. Breakfast was our best on the Greek islands! An amazing and generous offering was served of local cheeses, fresh artisan breads, sausages, yogurt, homemade marmelades, fruits, hard boiled eggs, fresh squeezed orange juice by the beautiful Maria who managed the breakfast service, coffee and teas. Antonio also gave us great info on restaurants, other towns to visit on Crete etc. He was a delightful and very helpful host! We will definitely return to Bozalli and cannot recommend it highly enough! WE LOVED OUR STAY!
Something different
We had a very relaxing stay at Bozzali. Location was perfect, with in 5 mins walking distance to old harbour, cafe and restaurants. Close enough but super quiet, very tranquil with the inner courtyard. The room was exactly as it was portrayed in the photos..and smelt amazing due to the wood floors and beams. Crete has so much to see. Hire a car and drive up to the mountains, Drakona, eat at Ntounias and experience their slow food movement. Delicious. Go to the Pink Beach at Elafonissi Beach. Travel along the coast and eat at the fishermens restaurants in Sfinari Bay, easy to find, very fresh seafood.
Very central but tucked away from a busy street
I arrived very late because my flight was delayed. This presented Antonio with no problem and he welcomed and showed me my room without complaint. There was quite a lot of noise from the street but I wasn't really disturbed. A comfortable night. I would happily stay there again.
Antonio is great and makes amazing pasta :-)
Beautiful place, very friendly and great location
The rooms are beautiful and the hotel is right in the middle of old town. Friendly and helpful owner (Antonio). Would visit again.
Really quaint hotel
Antonio was a very friendly and gracious host. Beautifully quaint hotel and classic street setting, feels like you're in a rural Italian village. Quirky, steep staircase leading up to our room, which was a little small. Low water pressure in the shower. The one drawback: this hotel is located in the old quarter of Chania, which means no cars are allowed. Google maps had difficulty navigating us to the hotel, and we landed up parking far and walking to the hotel. Be sure to look for the parking payment machine on the street for parking rules: we got them wrong and got two tickets!
Nice base and walking distance to Chania village
Antonio was a great host, very helpful and friendly. The rooms and the bathroom were clean and spacious. Very nice base and very close to Chania village which is so nice and lively. The only thing I would say is the bed was not too comfortable. Other than that, everything else was great!
Great stay at a very nice hotel (which is very well situated). Also the owner was very friendly & helpful.
Impossible to find!
The hotel is charming and clean and very special. However, be sure to print a very detailed map of its location. Taxi drivers do not know where it is and the owner does not give detailed directions. It took us hours to locate it (it's down a small alley). Very narrow stairs, hard if you have a lot of luggage. Rooms are nice, clean and special. Great location - once you find it!
Lovely hotel near to all sites
Had a lovely stay at this hotel, felt like a home, very welcoming. The manager was very helpful and made us feel at home. The breakfast was a cold buffet but was very good with lots of choice.
Good deal overall
I had a hard time rating this place. Initially, I was disappointed with the appearance, given the pictures I had seen online. It looked a bit rundown. However, this became less important, especially when the host (Antonio) went way beyond the norm for a hotel by making himself available at 2am in the morning due to flight delays. Also, he was willing to be flexible with breakfast times and accommodated me in a number of ways. The breakfast selection was ample and the location was ideal. The room was cared for every day. It was a great value overall. I will return and visit again.
Wonderful staff, nice hotel, good location.
We stayed at the Hotel while attending the wedding of a friend, we stayed a couple extra days while in Crete, and we really enjoyed our stay there very much. It's located in Old Town in Chania (Hania), there are many restaurants, lots of shopping, museums and sightseeing within walking distance. The Hotel is across the street from the city's Byzantine Wall, which is an historic landmark and a very nice sight when having breakfast outside. And the breakfasts are wonderful, with fresh orange juice, good selection of breakfast meats, cheeses, fruits and breads. While the Hotel also has a restaurant, we weren't able to eat there, but the menu looked very good. Our room was on the 2nd floor, so while there is no elevator, it wasn't an issue for us. The bed in the room was lacking, it was a full size and wasn't too comfortable. The rest of the room was great, it was clean, had air conditioning, and a nice shower/bathroom (no tub). We can't say enough about the staff, they were more than accommodating, our stay was just fantastic. The location was ideal for us. Shops and restaurants within 10 minute walk, museums of many varieties throughout Old Town, and the beach was about 25 minute walk. We had a very nice stay there!
Enhanced our stay in Chania
Our stay in the Bozzali Hotel really enhanced our week in Chania. The hotel is charming, set amidst picturesque side streets, with restaurants all around and a five minute walk from the harbour. We felt so at home there. Antonio, the owner is very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed fresh pasta in his small restuarant one evening, and the wide selection of fresh breakfast foods every morning.
Fantastic, friendly hotel in the old town
Very friendly reception. Beautiful building with much character and a delicious breakfast in the morning.
Fantastic location, great breakfast, nice ambience
We stayed here for 4 nights and we liked it here. The hotel is centrally located and is just a few minutes walk from the Venetian Harbour. There are also plenty of drinking/ dining options nearby. Despite its location, the room was quiet from the buzz on the streets below. Antonio is very friendly, helpful and always ready to give us tips to beaches to visit. Breakfast is great and hearty with a good range of bread, jams, Greek yogurt, honey, fruits etc. They serve freshly squeezed orange juice every morning which is greatly appreciated. The only feedback we had was that the air-conditioner needs servicing in our room (Room 5) as it was leaking and making cracking noises at night. This was the only complaint we had on an otherwise perfect stay in Bozzali!
Really enjoyed my stay here; the neighbourhood was great. Lots to do very close by outside the door but was still quiet at night even though it was busy. The owner Antonio was very welcoming and helpful in finding some local attractions. Also had a fantastic breakfast the next morning. Overall would happily come here again.
Charming
Would recommend Bozzali - Venetian charm mixed with great location. Antonio is a great host. Very pretty.
Really good place, I would go back in a heartbeat.
Best stay and most gracious host... Their food is incredible.... Really really really good. Some of the best I've ever had.
Great stay- would recommend
Really enjoyed our stay in Bozalli. Great location and close to harbour and old town while being a few streets away from the main tourist spot. Plenty of more relaxed bars restaurants and coffee shops in the vicinity. Bozalli itself is well presented with real character. Basic buffet breakfast with freshly squeezes orange juice the highlight. Always a lovely smell in the evening from its restaurant that serves fresh pasta dishes prepared by Antonio the host. We were tempted a few times with the lovely aroma but stuck with traditional Cretan cuisine options. The room was clean and nicely decorated in white hues with a fridge. We didn't have a balcony but 4 long windows although if we booked earlier we possibly could have secured a balcony. Throughly relaxing.
Great location in the old town, excellent Osteria
Great location in the old town, excellent Osteria / restaurant on-site, personable hotel staff. My husband and I stayed at the Bozzali hotel in Chania for three nights, September 8-10, 2015 and were very happy with this charming B&B. The hotel is in a great location, easily walkable to many city sites, shopping areas, restaurants, and the port. The double room we stayed in (#4) was spacious, had high ceilings, A/C, refrigerator, large wardrobe, reading lamps by the bedside, and a well-lit, good-sized bathroom. The shower didn’t always have good water pressure, but this can be normal in Greece. The restaurant (a small Italian restaurant – Osteria), is convenient and serves excellent homemade pasta dishes and has a good selection of bottled wine. Highly recommended. Antonio is a very nice and helpful host.
Nice hotel in the old city
The hotel is lovely and Antonio is super friendly and helpful. In general, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
Everything about Bozzali was outstanding.
Antonio, the owner, was so welcoming. Bozzali instantly felt like a home instead of a hotel. The location was great. It is walking distance to a beach, the port, many restaurants, and shopping, all in the heart of Chania's old town neighborhood. Although I didn't get to try it, there is also a restaurant at Bozzali. I can't say enough good things about this hotel.
Good location, close to all the shops, restaurants
Because of it`s good location it`s a bit noisy at night from bars and restaurants nearby. The double glazing mutes a lot of it! Straight out of the hotel you`re next to the shops, 5 minutes (or less if you`re in a hurry) you`re at the harbor and 10 minutes walk gets you to the bus station. The staff are lovely and helpful. Fresh orange juice at breakfast is precisely that, you wait while they squeeze the oranges in front of you!! Only there for 4 days but will go back there again next time we`re in Crete.
Bozzali is perfect for your Chania visit!
My husband and I recently stayed 4 nights at Bozzali for our first visit to Chania. We had a pretty late check-in, but we were immediately greeted by Antonio, who helped us with our bags. Antonio was wonderful throughout our stay and helpful with the city. We enjoyed our breakfasts in the morning and a lovely dinner at the Italian restaurant attached to the hotel. Bozalli's location is perfect, very central to the city. Our room was very nice, clean, and had everything we needed. Antonio was also very helpful via e-mail with questions prior to our stay. We can't wait to come back!
Bozzali a disappointment
Other positive reviews let me to stay here but I must say I was disappointed. We had dinner at Bozzali, on the sidewalk overlooking the street, before we stayed there, and dinner was excellent, as was the breakfast we were served the morning of our stay. But the room itself was disappointing: small, very odd, useless corners, hard beds. I am sure there are nicer rooms here, we certainly didn't get to experience one of them.
Charming villa in Old Town Chania
This charming hotel, run by equally charming Antonio, an Italian from Tyrolia epitomizes all the reasons to stay in Old Town Chania. Less then five minutes from the hustle bustle of the old Harbor area, it can be reached by car. The entrance is on one of the many narrow, pedestrian only streets and the old woman sitting in her doorway across the way always offers a friendly "yassou". I stayed at both the beginning and end of my trip in 2 different rooms on a tiny courtyard shaded by a tall tree. Great attention has been paid to giving the space an ancient feel with exposed stones in the stucco and huge beams. The rooms are spacious and fresh with planked floors and beamed ceilings that are slightly aromatic with the scent of the native wood. The many windows have brand new shutters. Beds are new and low in typical Cretan style and have embroidered linens (even real linen!). All have refrigerators and coffee/tea service. Bathrooms are also spacious with showers and large sinks. Best of all is the breakfast spread which can be taken in an inner courtyard, in the small restaurant or on the sidewalk (6 feet above street level) under a magnificent red bougainvillea. In the evening it becomes a delightful little trattoria with the best fresh pasta, lovely salads and good wine or Prosecco. This is a delightful place and will remain my go to for Chania.
Nice hotel, close to both the port and the center.
This is a small hotel, privately owned and operated (I suppose the man I saw everyday was the owner). So the owner did everything he could to make my stay (I was on a business trip, by myself) as agreeable as possible. Before I arrived he sent me the information I needed to go from the airport to the hotel - without me requesting it. I liked the location of the hotel, and it remarkable cleanliness. I also liked the fact that the owner was always helpful and smiling/laughing. You should not go there if you are looking for the usual chain hotel. However, you should go there if you are looking for a quiet, welcoming and "authentic" place to stay. All in all, I had a nice stay and I will certainly come back if I ever return to Chania.
Small hotel convenient to harbor area.
The Bozzali provided everything I needed for a quick, two night stay in Hania. As a single traveler, the room provided a lot of space, a comfortable bed, and a clean bathroom. My room faced a small alley and was quiet at night.
nice clean accomodation but hard beds
nice clean and well situated. Beds were hard and metal frames meant that you couldn't push them together as a double so it was like sleeping in 2 single beds. shower was small and had to hold shower head in your hand. other than that all was fine.
Great stay in Chania
Antonio was a fantastic host and Bozzali was in the perfect location in old town, on a quiet street with easy access to all Chania has to offer. We enjoyed a great breakfast outside each morning, which included fresh squeezed orange juice. We will be back!!
evrithing was super
perfect. couldnt ask for more
perfect stay
I just want to express how much pleased and satisfied i am with Bozzali hotel. Everything was perfect. Since the first email sent by Antônio - the owner - and Everything else such as location, cleaness, service. I would definitely reccommend you to stay there. Antonio, congratulation on your hotel
Charming unique little hotel in Chania
Friendly, homey, a bit quirky (which I like). If you like predictable, cookie-cutter hotel rooms, this isn't for you. If you like bougainvilleas, and winding out-of-the way streets and restaurants, then this place is great!
Hard to find but once there it's perfect!
Antonio was wonderful. He was very helpful and eager to attend to all our requests. The internet didn't work in our room but we got the service next day. The room we had was a triple and it was very large and very Cretan in style. It's location was perfect for us and reasonable. It came with a very nice breakfast too. The only complaint I have is NO parking but that is true of every hotel in Chania, I believe.
My new favorite place in Chania!
Beautiful, tucked away treasure - so nice to wake up in a room that had so much charm and warmth. Antonio made us feel like family - very helpful - he made sure our stay was perfect. Fantastic location! I would love to stay again.
Excellent position
Hotel is very well placed for the port, the old town and a short walk to the central bus station for trips out. Staff very friendly and very helpful, good local guide books in the hotel...very useful. Places to eat nearby and these are good....especially the one two doors up (the Stray) with live music. Breakfast choice is very good and can be inside or out on the street...which actually is very nice.
Charming Place
The hotel is small and a little difficult to find but it was charming and a great place to stay in Chania. They have a great little Italian restaurant as part of the hotel and the owners are very friendly and pleasant. It's just a couple of blocks to the heart of Chania but it is far enough away from the throngs of tourists. I hope to get back soon.
No hot water and not bothered
The water was cold and when asked to heat was told they use the sun and were reluctant to spend any money heating with alternative source. The hotel is clean, comfortable, well positioned and friendly enough however, they do not take care of the water system or guests. They should not be presented as a high rated hotel as this is key to a guest experience.
Nice hotel at a central location
The hotel is in the central old town, not difficult to find. We arrived early in the morning and was greeted by a lady, who kindly offered us breakfast even before checkin. We stayed for two nights in a room on the top floor of the hotel, which has a lovely view of the mountain with snow on top. Unfortunately there was no wifi signal in our room. In the evening the ground hotel became an Italian restaurant, and the dishes were delicious!
Nice little hotel, great service
Antonio was a great host. I felt like we got really personalized service that went above and beyond expectations. Breakfast was very substantial, and the freshly squeezed orange juice was a great way to start off the day. And we certainly didn't regret the night we ate supper in the restaurant! Antonio cooks authentic Italian food - simple and delicious fresh pasta dishes that really hit the spot!
The proprietor and manager, Antonio, made this small but charming place special. His daily smile, upbeat greetings and genuine enthusiasm raised the bar. The delicious smells coming from the kitchen didn't hurt either...
Nice hotel in the center of the city
Very nice hotel in the centre of the city. The room are relatively big and clean. Breakfast is also impressive.
Wanted to love it but didn´t
It was pretty upon first entering. Arrived late at night and owner accommodating of this. Room was clean however not good. Asked for double and were given twin single beds without prior notification. Air conditioner loud at night. Thought it was raining on the first night however it was the air conditioner leaking. Beds very hard. Surrounds noisy at night time. Breakfast nice but nothing too impressive.
Great location and very friendly staff
One night stay, a few minutes from Chania Old Town
This is a charming small hotel (8 rooms) run by a very helpful and enthusiastic Italian chap and his wife, its reasonably priced for where it is located and in a quiet area despite being very close to the old town and harbour, it was very clean and well presented, breakfast was good continental style with freshly made orange juice and coffee either taken in a small quant courtyard or on the raised street side tables watching the world go by, the owner recommend a nearby batr or a last ouzo which had Cretan singers and musicians playng til about 1 am in a bar with no roof, very atmospheric. The rooms had TV, aircon, good towels etc.
A very special experience
Located in the heart of the old city, the Bozzali is charming very small hotel (6 rooms) with a good ambiance. We spent 3 wonderful nights there, hosted by Antonio, an amateur historian and a real personality. The location is superb for walking in the Old Town and harbor area. Our room, #6, was on the top floor (3 flights up), and had windows in all directions, through which a wonderful evening breeze wafted to cool us, and afforded us magnificent views. The white cotton curtains and pleasant bed linens added to the simple comfort and Cretan atmosphere. The refrigerator in the room was a plus. Breakfast was simple but tasty. Minuses: The water pressure on the top floor was a bit weak. The beds are not joinable. Highly recommended for discerning travelers!
Bozzali Hotel Chania combines stylish & original
Located in the middle of the Old Town of Chania, the front of this 8 bedroom hotel - based on two 3 storey town houses joined together via a small internal courtyard - sits over the characterful small Bozzali 'Vin & Pain' wine bar and overlooks the old walls of the Kastelli (originally the heart of the Venetian fortress and harbour of Chania). Full of history, the area lies a couple of hundred metres from the main tourist retail and leisure areas of Old Chania and the Old Harbour, with its museums and art galleries and boats to look at. Lots to see and do for a week or so, especially if you hire a car and drive along the coast or up into the mountains. There are loads of restaurants and bars down along the harbour and in the back streets nearby but the Bozzali sits in a quiet backwater that we found very peaceful and quiet. This a small, quite trendy upgrade of two traditional Venetian-Cretan houses. We were in Room 4, a generous sized, simple-but-stylish room with timber floorboards and ceiling and white walls, twin beds with quality bed linen, side tables alongside, a roomy built-in wardrobe, a small stylish marble topped table with cast iron legs and a couple of cream suede-covered chairs. There was a small but good quality TV which receives a variety of Greek stations, BBC 24 and France 24. There is no balcony but the room has three large windows, a high ceiling, a ceiling fan and air conditioning (we did not need this when we stayed). The ensuite bathroom is modern and nicely fitted out with a shower, sink and loo. We found that the hotel owner (Antonio - a laid back and sophisticated Italian who has run the Bozzali for 8 years and improved and extended it over that time) and staff were very nice, knowledgable and helpful - nothing was too much trouble but the atmosphere was homely and relaxed. The Bozzali Italian cafe/wine bar has a few tables inside the ground floor and another few on the wide elevated walkway outside, which has an interesting outlook to one of the Old Town streets and the Kastelli walls. It serves a range of good Italian wines - a sign says definately no soft drinks! The whole place - both the Old Town and the Hotel and cafe/wine bar - have a very nice, relaxed and homely but quite trendy feel. We had a buffet continental breakfast in the cafe/wine bar each morning as part of the Bed and Breakfast tariff and also eat there one evening when the end-of-season weather was cool and rainy. The food was simple but with good quality ingredients and service was friendly but discreet. We really liked the place. Things to be aware of are: 1) There are steps from the street outside up to the main pedestrian walkway from which the hotel and cafe-bar are accessed. The entrance to the hotel is up the quiet little pedestrian side-street accessed off the walkway fronted by the Bozzali Vin et Pain wine bar. 2) This hotel does not have a lift and the rooms are accessed by staircase up to the first and second floors, with the cafe/bar, kitchen and reception on the ground floor. 3) Apart from the wine bar tables on the walkway there are no external space or hotel grounds. However we found that the fantastically convenient yet quiet location in the heart of the old town and the proximity of the harbour front more than compensated for that, 4) It is a significant walk to a nice swimming beach (about 5-10 minutes drive in a taxi or rented car if you hire one as we did). We liked the beautiful beaches to the west of the town, where there are clean well-organised beaches with golden sand, sun beds (7 euros for 2 beds for the day), showers, changing rooms if you feel shy and clean toilets. There is also shade at the back fo the beaches. We went at the end of the season and they were still clean and well-maintained. Each beach has a small cafe/beach bar selling drinks and snacks at reasonable prices. If you just want a beach holiday then you probably need to look elsewhere but if you want a mix of entertainment and beach and have access to a car or bike then this is a good location. 5) Car parking on street adjoining the hotel is difficult to find, although we were able to double park and drop off or pick up our luggage when arriving and departing. We found a large free car park about 5 minutes walk away. Because the hotel is in the old town we found it a little tricky to find on our arrival, but that was mainly due to our poor map. If arriving by car make sure you get a detailed map and directions to get you through the winding maze of narrow streets into the heart of the old town, most of which are one-way. 6) There is no hotel sign on the main street frontage (the hotel entrance is up the little side street) but you should be able to spot the 'Bozzali Vin et Pain' sign for the cafe/bar. Overall - this is a real 'find' if you are looking for a small, quiet and characterful hotel close to the main attractions of historic Chania. We had a week in a beach location and a week here - and this made for a really interesting fortnight's stay on Crete.
Nice small hotel in the middle of old town Chania
Nice owners. Walking distance to everything we came to Chania to see. Tricky to find hotel unless you go all the way to old town and port. Satisfied with stay and would go back. It would be helpful to have pictures of the 8 different rooms and be able to book the room you think fits best.
Sehr gute Lage
Alles in allem, Preis /Leistung stimmt.
Perfect quiet place in an alley close to the old harbor. The staff was excellent and helpful at all time. If you need a place for a couple days I recommend this hotel. Good value for the money.
Camera perfetta e molto vicina al centro
Rauhallinen ja siisti hotelli, iso huone, ystävällinen henkilökunta. Loistava sijainti idyllisessä vanhassa kaupungissa, jossa runsaasti viehättäviä ravintoloita ja paljon ostosmahdollisuuksia.
zeer rudimentaire badkamer.
Amazing location
Nice small hotell located very close to the area where every body goes for dinner, sightseeing etc. Friendly, helpful staff.
Would stay there again. Thank you.
A clean, decent place to stay. Thanks to the friendly host Antonio. Nice variety of cheeses and more other stuff at breakfast. Nice building with an inner porch.
Abitazione storica nel centro storico di hania. Molto caratteristica Posizione gradevole in mezzo a locali vivaci.
Gastvrij hotel in hartje centrum
Center of charis accommodation
Amazing breakfast, great location.
Nice hotel and near from best places
It was a great experience. Antonio the owner is really friendly and nice. The hotel is very cozy and all was really good.
Piccolo albergo molto curato in pieno centro ma con un affaccio tranquillo e silenzioso. Ottima colazione
Vanha talo, rakennettu 1100 luvulla. Korjauksia tehty paljonkin. Veden tulossa aamuisin hankaluuksia. Ip vesitilanne ok. Hieno sijainti. Ihanan ystävällinen henkilökunta, joka osasi hyvin englantia. Aamupala niukka, mutta tulihan sillä hyvin toimeen. Kokonaisuutena täysin ok. Menisin mielellään uudelleenkin.
Ok hotelli erinomaisella paikalla
Ok hotelli erinomaisella paikalla. Muutaman huoneen hotelli. Aamiainen ok, sisältää leipää, juustoja ja makkaraa, jogurttia ja hedelmiä,kahvia ja lasillisen tuoretta appelsiinimehua. Ei pimennysverhoja huoneessa eli aamulla tuli herättyä aikaisin. Kassakaappi toimii avaimella mikä sitten pitää ottaa mukaan. Huoneen avaimen lisäksi saa avaimen alaoveen koska isäntä ei aina ole paikalla jolloin ovi on lukossa.
This property is in an amazing location, but don’t expect to find parking. We were very happy to return the car so we didn’t need to deal with that anymore. The staff was helpful. They don’t have a front desk exactly. We called someone when we arrived and waited a few minutes for them to come let us in, but we’ve never seen anyone at the front desk after that. They were always available by phone. the room is a bit outdated, but that was expected for this location. You do have to take quite a few steps, so keep that in mind if you’re coming with luggage. The walls are thin so we were able to hear people going up and down the steps and their conversations. The best thing about this property is definitely its location.
