My husband and I loved this hotel in Old Town Kotor. We were close to many historic sites and some wonderful restaurants. The breakfast was very good- more than enough food. The Staff was always friendly and helpful. Our hike up to St. John’s fortress was not easy, but outstanding views when you reached the top. Kotor is an amazing place to visit.
We had a fantastic 2 nights stay in the Iota room at Astoria in the heart of magnificent Kotor old town. The room is stunning; elegant and comfortable furnishings with spectacular views over the city walls and port from the dormer windows and of the mountain and old fort from the skylight windows. Breakfast was delicious and generous. Staff were friendly and helpful. Many thanks Astoria team for your hospitality. Our only regret is that we didn’t plan for a longer stop in Kotor, and look forward to returning next time in Europe. Hvala!
Rooms are above a small plaza with businesses/restaurants playing music over loud speakers until 1-2am. To avoid if looking for a complete night of sleep.
Hotel Astoria Kotor is a beautiful property in one of the amazing squares of Kotor, an old palace facing an old palace - we had a view up the mountains to the old church. Very comfortable room, amazing staff and huge breakfast included. Only downside of Kotor (not the Astoria) is the parking - its nuts.
Lovely hotel
Great hotel in the old Town. Very nice employee, great breakfast. Only the parking may a bit far but walkable. Not easy to find the hotel, the signage is very small and without the name Astoria. Our window room is just the front of the beautiful marina and just next to the walls of the city, it was nice to look at the people walking so close. The towels in the bathroom were not so soft but clean. Its better to put them in a dryer then to dry them in the sun. The room was spacious and beautiful. They have an elevaitor. The parking area was great but far from the hotel, you need to go firstly to the receptionist to get the parking card, and in the meantime you need to think where to wait with the car. I think that hotel like that, needs to send a bell boy to help out with the luggage and parking. It was very hard for us.
Room was decorated really gloomy, aircon was a continual issue and never really stayed on or cooled the room, electric for the hotel kept tripping out. Staff, reception fine but waiters for breakfast etc where the most miserable surley I have come across, breakfast plates cold, food lukewarm coffee luke warm.
I think this hotel needs to get deep cleaned and up its game. The rooms were dark and half the lightbulbs were burned out. The rooms in the hotel are above its restaurant, but the breakfast was poor. Kotor is a beautiful city, best visited in the early morning before the cruise ships arrive. Once a ship comes, Kotor is unpleasant and loses all its charm. Overall prices here are very high relative to Montenegro and the mediocre quality of things.
This property is the perfect place to explore the old town, everything is walkable. Plenty of bars and restaurants on the doorstep. Reception staff were extremely friendly and very helpful with booking our taxi back to the airport. Woul highly recommend staying here.
Great location in the old town Kotor.
Perfect location in the old town. We loved staying here, so you had the city a bit more to yourself in the morning. Lovely hotel restaurant in pretty square for breakfast and dinner. Cats may come under your table! Staff were incredibly helpful and thoughtful. The decor is a little strange perhaps but it is very comfortable and luxurious feeling.
Great location located in Old Town Kotor. The staff were great and organised transport for us when needed.
For me, was the best place to enjoy Kotor Old Town. Very centralized and close to everything. Service was excellent. The only aspect I would say should improve is the operation of the air conditioning. In summer months it is very hot and the air was not efficient. We were very hot at night. Otherwise, my family and I really enjoyed it.
Wonderful staff
This was a lovely hotel. The room was clean and roomy. It is located in the heart of old town where all sites and restaurants were in walking distance. The hotel has a nice restaurant. We enjoyed our stay there.
Excellent hotel
The Astoria Boutique hotel is inside Kotor Old City, very good place to stroll by foot. The hotel provides free parking on request with instructions how to get it. The room is big, elegant furnished. The windows with double glasses, it is important for a quiet, because outside is some noisy. We slept with no problem The breakfast a la carte, not buffet, but was sufficient and good. The staff was friendly, helpful with good English. We recommend this hotel for couples and romantic stay
Unique hotel in the heart of Kotor — the location was perfect. I could see people hiking the trails from my window while listening to the sounds of people and music on the streets below. The decor is a little tired but matches the charm of the old architecture. I’d absolutely stay here again.
Superb
What a superb hotel . Right in centre of the old town . Great room with quiet windows from any noise . Excellent restaurant and breakfast . Only Moab was no milk for coffee . Great location . Parking 5 minute walk
The air condition did not work the whole time. Reported the problem the next morning. Never fixed. No water in any of the room Friday morning until we departed.
Great location inside the castle walls close to the main entrance. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Excellent Location
The hotel was exceptionally beautiful. The staff were great as well. Located directly in Old town. The only drawback for me was during the day the loud music playing. After exploring when you wanted to take a small rest the loud music made it impossible. Other than the music loved it.
We looked out over the water from our small balcony. The hotel was convenient to everything we wanted to do and the staff was extremely conscientious.
This is a FANTASTIC hotel! The staff are wonderful and so helpful. The room was lovely with the biggest and most comfortable bed I have ever slept in! The rainfall shower was heaven after a long walk round a beautiful city. The whole experience was just perfect and we can’t wait to go back!
It's not realy a 5 stars hotel.
There was a leak in the ceiling of the shower, in the shower. It is not pleasant to get wet from the ceiling while showering.
Full service hotel in the heart of the old town. The place was lovely, the staff at the desk were outstanding with help for cars and other service.
Great room
Would stay here again in Kotor
We had a nice stay. The location inside the old walls couldn’t be much better. Our room included breakfast at the restaurant, which was good- though service was very low energy. The ladies who worked at the front desk were very helpful. I found the mattress in the room not very comfortable. We did have a rental car so figuring out the parking was a bit complicated- you need to let the hotel know you will be parking. Then you park in the city lot briefly while you get checked in and get the card for their parking lot which is a little further walk. It all worked out but was a bit confusing to start.
Wonderfully unique experience . Staff was helpful and efficient . Highly recommend!
Great
Great hotel and service ..the best location for exploring the old town
Great Hotel in the old town, near many great restaurants and shops. The hotel, has an excellent bar and courtyard restaurant. Staff was great! Room was amazing with views of the marina.
Excellent boutique hotel in old town Kotor
We loved our stay and wished we could have stayed longer. Kristina, who staffed the reception desk, was so sweet and provided such great information and service, including a restaurant where we had one of the best meals of our trip in the region, and booking us a private transfer to Croatia. Breakfast was incredible - extremely high-quality and very generous. The room was well-appointed and had a great view of the harbor.
Staff members are great!
This is a beautiful property Our second time to stay here Breakfast is wonderful The staff is kind and helpful
Great location in the beautiful old town. Staff and hotel wonderful.
Beautiful historic property with Outstanding service!
Perfect location and the best food
It’s 5 star Jim, but not as we know it.
A quirky little boutique hotel in the thick of the beautiful old town, which is great as long as you don’t mind the church bells waking you up with a jolly clanging at 7am! Perhaps a room at the back would be more peaceful. The reception staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful and the food was very good. It’s not a five star hotel, however; not in comparison to other five star hotels. The bedding, towels and toiletries are not luxurious, there’s no tea and coffee in the room and our bathroom was certainly more shabby than chic. There was an awful smell of drains which they did their best to disperse but only succeeded in masking it with another smell which wasn’t too pleasant either. The toilet seat was also wobbly. The five star hotel in which we stayed in Perast was far superior to this one. Don’t get me wrong - it’s a perfectly pleasant little hotel and we wouldn’t rule out staying there again, if we could get a room at the back, but it’s more like 3 than 5 stars. Kotor is absolutely charming and very picturesque. We loved it.
Bad
Noisy room. Helpful staff. Very poor breakfast.
Amazing hotel to stay
Lovely hotel. Very courteous staff who went out of their way to help you. Hotel situated in the centre of the Old Town. We had breakfast every morning included in our stay with a good choice of food and excellent service. We would definitely stay there again.
I was worried it would be noisy staying anywhere in the old town after reading lots of reviews. there are indeed some small bars blasting music incredibly loud in some places in old town & maybe it might be noisy on weekend nights but on my thursday night stay there was only a single violinist right outside the hotel entertaining folks dining there, he ended at midnight & even before that I was at least on the 3rd floor above him & the room's A/C was a nice quiet steady wind sound that almost totally blocked the violin & I'm one of the pickiest when it comes to wanting quiet to be able to sleep. plan to walk the walls around the old town when cool at night as they open 24 hrs & safe. But hike to castle remains at top of mountain in daylight hours early morning for safety & it took me 1.75 hours for that hike & I went pretty fast. It was tough but worth it as gorgeous views.
Location
The gals at the front desk were very helpful and always smiling. The breakfast was good. Can be noisy on the inner side of the hotel, so recommend booking a room facing the bay.
This hotel is a gem
All of the rooms have Greek names instead of room numbers. We stayed in Thita which had a small balcony overlooking the town wall and the water. We loved it! Our room was very spacious, the breakfast was wonderful, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the location is great.
Super unique hotel inside the Old Town Wall
This hotel really is something special!! The rooms are so unique and memorable but very well appointed and updated. We had the Iota room that has views of the marina on one side and the mountain on the other! The staff is amazing...friendly, helpful and accommodating! The restaurant knocks it out of the park! The breakfast was the best in our 45 day trip to 12 different countries and the dinners were outstanding as well! I could not recommend this hotel highly enough!!
Our stay was amazing. The hotel location was perfect, right in the middle of Kotor old city. Staff was incredibly accommodating for all our needs (beach towels, iron, etc) Breakfast was just perfect. I truly loved that they maintained authentic pieces of the fortress throughout the rooms. Totally recommend.
Lovely quirky hotel. Large room with a comfy bed & great power shower. Delicious breakfast sitting outside in the square each morning.
Nice Hotel
The hotel is centrally located. You do need to make reservations for their free parking which is a bit of a walk. We did not have reservations, so the paid lot across the street was fine. The room was beautiful, unfortunately the housekeeping was not on top of things.
It was my husbands birthday and they welcomed us with a cake and candle :) it was very nice of them.
Outstanding stay! Comfortable, great service, and an unreal location. Very good restaurant as well.
Nice boutique hotel
Nice boutique hotel in old town Reception staff were knowledgable and helped with any questions I had Heard it used to be a palace before once up on a time In old town so can be explored by foot
Central location, excellent rooms, food, and service
The staff was extremely helpful. The property had an excellent location inside the old city walls, so was convenient to all the sights. Food at the on property restaurant was very good. The renovation and room designs were very well done. Parking was offsite, given the hotel location, but nearby and well organized. A lovely stay.
Best view I’ve ever had from a hotel bedroom window. Food in restaurant great particularly breakfast. Staff mostly friendly
Everything was perfect. The staff was so helpful. The room was perfect. The location was perfect.
Best place in kotor
Incredible. Lea at the front desk was the best! Bojon the waiter at That hotel restaurant was amazing as well. He had a special cake brought to us celebrating our anniversary. Beautiful boutique hotel. Nestled right in the old town. They were so accommodating!!! Loved every second
The linen top sheets on the bed were short for US standards. Other than that is was great . Good complete breakfast . The parking was a mess, you needed to reserve the spot before arriving so we ended up paying for another place and it made it inconvenient
Great location, the staff was really friendly, and breakfast was great
Fantastic location
Kotor
The hotel was nice and good location nice historical buildings in the heart of old town
The Astoria was wonderful. Staff were so helpful and generous. The room was lovely.
The rooms were spacious, and interesting if eclectically appointed. The location was perfect and the hotel restaurant was very good. The staff was also friendly and helpful. The only negative may have been that the plumbing seemed antiquated, but that should be expected in such an old building.
Good
Great location in old town. Beautiful boutique hotel. Iota room was perfect. Only heads up... you can not drive to this hotel. Instead they offer free validated parking in the public lot just outside of the old city walls. Drive to that lot, park and walk to hotel with your bags. A 10 minute walk.
Romantic trio for boyfriend's birthday
We stayed in Kotor for a night for my boyfriend's birthday, and the hotel staff were amazing and kindly upgraded the room to a beautiful room with a balcony (it was a Wednesday night in low season). The hotel has a very nice location in the old town, and the breakfast is good too (a la carte rather than the usual buffet)
Five-Star All the Way
I don't have enough good things to say about the Astoria hotel in Kotor. The staff are great. The location is excellent. The breakfast is quite good. Parking is included. In addition, hotels.com made a huge mistake in my booking and only put me down as having a hotel for a single person. Although Astoria charges more for two guests, the staff kindly honored the original rate that hotels.com charged me. This alone shows their excellent customer service. I don't know when I will next visit Kotor (the world is a big place with many destinations), but I would have zero hesitation to stay at the Astoria again.
This is the best place to stay in Kotor!! We loved being within the old city. The restaurant was amazing as well!! The receptionists were super helpful & kind to give the best recommendations. We would 100% stay here when visiting Kotor again!!!
The hotel was excellent. Very conveniently located. The Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The breakfast was amazing.
Lack of parking or what to do when arriving by car.
Very solid boutique Montenegrin hotel. Great location!
The staff was gracious and helpful. The hotel is a jewel. Located in a perfect section of old town - not in any main square yet centrally situated. It is close to the main gate, which is helpful as its streets are pedestrian only. This makes its accessibility a plus when you are transferring your luggage. The restaurant is very good. The decoration of the interior is lovely - a mix of modern with the respect of its architectural integrity. Lovely bathroom. We had the room “Thita”, which has a balcony overlooking the bay. It had an adjoining living room space. Excellent! If we go back we would not stay anywhere else.
Absolutely gorgeous hotel in terms of decor and very different style to anything I have been in - it is like a luxury cave for royalty! Nice air conditioned rooms, large bed and two windows (we were in a junior suite) spacious modern bathroom (little storage area) Tv and lovely sofa area. The hotel itself is down one of the side streets off the main square and because of how it is located in the wall, there aren’t a lot of rooms and therefore not a lot of people bustling around. However, because of the walls and floor noise does carry unfortunately but we were out early every day so this didn’t bother us massively. The restaurant has a good choice of food (all ordered and no buffet, and breakfast is restricted to a certain amount of items). Disappointed (and as was the case with all of Montenegro) there were limited vegetarian options (spaghetti and salad) despite this being recommended as a vegetarian restaurant. Having said this, the food was delicious and I did ask for some tweaks to the dish and they were happy to accommodate. If you are vegan though prepare to eat toast and salad only (and they have no milk alternatives). As a nice touch, you could eat breakfast in your room, in the foyer or outside. Staff were very pleasant and there is someone on the reception 24 hours a day. The only downside, and to be expected given the location, is that there are no amenities (in terms of activities, services or pool) given that it is a 5 star hotel and quite pricey
Excellent location in Old Kotor City. Great, helpful reception staff.
Quick stay in Kotor
Beautiful hotel at a fantastic lication! We would Love to come back again.
Great location, lovely spacious room, friendly staff, good restaurant and breakfast. Only problem was bed linen was too small for bed ie queen size on a king bed.
Great place. Great staff. Very user friendly. Thanks!
The photos do not do it justice. The place and view is beautiful.
Very conveniently located and the size was very good.
We stayed here for one night and our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer! We had the IOTA room - at the very top of the property with windows overlooking the bay (and skylights that looked towards the fortress and cathedral!). This hotel is perfectly situated in one of the most picturesque squares in Kotor. The bar and restaurant area are very cute and well decorated, though we couldn't resist having our drinks (and our breakfast) outside in the scenic square. The room was spacious and lovely, the bathroom shower area is very modern and impressive (though a bit impractical as the glass door only opens inwards, it can be a bit of a dance to get around). We will absolutely stay here again when we return to Kotor!
The property itself is lovely. Beautiful rooms though there were dust balls in the corners of the room. The beds were comfortable and the rooms very spacious. The bathrooms were nice and clean which is the more important to me. Except for after midnight on our first night, there was no hot water for the remainder of our stay and various reasons were given. The front desk staff were very apologetic and very nice. The manager was nowhere to be found. We were given a 25% discount off the stay which is at least some compensation. Had there been hot water, I would stay again; however, I would look elsewhere for my next trip to the area.
Annual concert held night of stay. Music on Square until 3 AM should have been notified of this annual event prior to booking
Perfect place to stay in Kotor.
Fantastic place to stay in the center of old town. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was great and the air conditioning worked great. Highly recommended.
Wonderful stay!!!
Our best stay of the trip - beautiful room - just like pictures. Full breakfast to order 7am to 1pm (could even turn into lunch instead. Staff great. Hated to leave. Had a old town view. Only negative is - we are night late night people and on Thursday there was a gal singer until 1pm - very loud as music filtered to our room even with windows shut - but overall - experience - would rate a #10.
You MUST stay here!
FABULOUS! Both standard & service from check in with Nadia to waitiors Alex & Ivan. Standard of food was superior - couldn’t be better.
This boutique hotel was ideally located in Kotor. easy to find. The hotel staff was wonderful, polite, kind and informative. We walked in the front door and were greeted by Nina and by our name She had our room key ready. Check-in was mooth and quick breakfast in the mornings was ordered off the menu and was delicious. I highly recommend the Astoria Hotel Looking forward to returning
Amazing hotel !!!
One of the best hotels we would come to and we walk a lot in the world! We were upgraded to a suite, an excellent bed, a gorgeous view, a well-equipped bathroom with everything you dreamed, The location is in the heart of the old town near all the restaurants and shops. just wonderful. The staff is ready to assist in anything. Good breakfast.
great hotel, staff was wonderful
Great stay in a lovely old town
great room and views, very comfortable, nice breakfast, room beautifully decorated, a little noisy outside on the Sunday night, perfect location! Wifi was v poor though but apart from one day when I had to work, I didn't mind
Kotor excellent location
Lovely small hotel with very helpful staff and very cool bar and restaurant attached. Spacious junior suite, quiet and well appointed? Would recommend this hotel. Great location inside the old city walls
Aside from distant parking, it's great.
Being in the walled old town, parking is a big hassle. Otherwise great.
Lovely boutique hotel located indide city walls
Lovely stylish hotel - very modern in historic building in old town. Tastefully and thoughtfully modernised. Very friendly and helpful staff. The best rooms are the ones facing the bay - they are quiet and have great views with small balconies. Breakfasts are very generous and large choice of excellent options. Restaurant is generally excellent for lunch and dinner too- stylish inside areas or dine outside in the square facing the hotel.
Nice but noisy
The hotel was beautiful and the room was great with a picture perfect view. The food in the restaurant was delicious and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was great and only a 10min walk from the main bus station and right in the old town. The only problem was the club right next door that played loud music in the early morning. After booking the non-refundable night I was sent an email (went to my junk folder so I didn't see it) saying that because it was the weekend then there were no available rooms that were quiet. This is a known problem on the weekends and I think it should be included in the description of the hotel.
Right there where you want to be Kotor.
Very positive and pleasant. Really unique new hotel in the very old palace,
Loved this hotel
Loved this hotel, great location, excellent huge room, little balcony off room looking down into courtyard, gorgeous bathroom and shower, best breakfast so far. Wished I stayed longer. Great comfortable beds. Right in old town, have to park about 2 balks away and bring luggage into old town but not far from hotel. Would return anytime, highly recommend.
Lovey harbor view
Very nice and helpful staff. Stunning view of water and quiet. Somewhat overdone decor and the electrical outlet in bathroom was broken, but overall would recommend.
Nice location, great staff
Well maintained property, nice location, parking is a bit of an issue. Jelena and restaurant staff are outstanding!
Spacious and comfortable
Very spacious rooms and attractively designed rooms. Only downside was that the windows looked upon the old city walls, which I knew because I had walked the length of them.
GReat hotel in Kotor
Wonderful hotel with great service right in the heart of the old city
Gorgeous Boutique Hotel
This was our favorite hotel while touring through Croatia and Montenegro. Excellent service!
Highly recommend
The property is located in the middle of the old town. It was amazing to see how the old town changed from a busy touristy place to a calm and serene at night. The staff at the hotel were fabulous, very friendly and helpful. We will stay there again if we go to Kotor again.
