Nice quaint place. Only problem....NO HOT WATER in the shower
Location is good. There was no luggage racks. We had to put them on the dirty carpet. Only one chair. Bathroom was tight. No counter space.
You can walk to everything
Best experience I've ever had in a motel not far from the beach can walk there. Everyone is nice and friendly I will be returning ❤️
Like the hotel and location, but we had the smallest room ever.
A Pleasant Surprise
My wife and I stayed in one of their cabins for one night. It took a bit to get used to how different the layout was from a regular hotel room. It was very small, and at first felt thrown together - the hot water heater against the wall was one of the first things we saw. But the cabin was very clean and comfortable. There was a small living room with an TV, an older reclining love seat and a table and chairs, a separate bedroom and bathroom. The bathroom was a little cramped, but, again, very clean. The shower was good sized and worked well. A mini-fridge, microwave and coffee maker were all clean and worked well. Each cabin had a couple chairs out front. Since the grounds, and cabins were well kept and the weather was mild, sitting outside in the evening and morning gave it a very pleasant up-north cabin feel. There were picnic tables and a grill in the common area. The pool, which we did not get the chance to use, was clean and well maintained. The check in and check out process were very quick and easy. The only issue we had was knowing where to have breakfast (we suggest the Lake St. Emporium a couple blocks away). Check in is a bit later than usual (4pm) and check out was a bit earlier (10am), but that wasn’t a problem on this trip. We would definitely stay again.
The room was clean. Staff were friendly. The only complaint would be the party going on in the parking lot. Although it was not loud, it was unnerving having to go through the party to get to our room. I would recommend staying here.
Loved the pool area!
Nice place just dated in decor, but definitely served its purpose as an overnight stay
Friendly staff nice pool and walkable to town which is a beautiful area.
Loved our stay, staff was very accommodating to a change in our stay that was needed as more friends wanted to join our trip. Highly recommend!
Place was dated. Expensive for the night. Staff was friendly. Pool needs work.
Great
Quiet and peaceful
This was our second year staying here and we absolutely enjoyed it again this year. Everything is nice and clean, walkable to downtown and other stores, nice heated pool and big outdoor space with fire pit, grills and picnic tables to use. We will be back!
Cute little room. Perfect for the night. We could have used another outlet to charge phones.
Clean. Friendly.
Nice clean motel
The room was clean, had a lot of space, mini fridge, table and chairs. I had a second floor room, there were chairs and a table outside for use.
The room was comfortable, clean, and quiet. The staff was friendly. It was before Memorial Day, so the operation matched the expected occupancy. The only negative is at night the appliances' lights added a glow in the room and you could not shut the blinds enough to block all of the outdoor lighting. The operation times of the restaurants and other retail stores also reflected the off season. This is not a critique, it is just something to be aware of. It was an enjoyable stay.
Quite pricey, but I'm sure everything is in that area. Bed was ok, but not overly comfortable. No hair dryer. No breakfast. Room was very clean
Very clean and comfortable
Worked for what we needed.
This property was about the cleanest place I’ve ever stayed at!!! It was immaculate!!! We had a cozy little cabin and it was so cute!!! Outdoor pool was heated and even on a 70 degrees day it was comfortable and relaxing!! Cute decor throughout the place and pool area!! Definitely will stay here again!!
Very clean.
Pool was great
Would have liked to stay on the lake, but it wasn't in our budget and Blue Spruce was located within walking distance of all the places we wanted to go to. It's not super fancy by any means, but it gets the job done. The AC window unit blew cold air all night and wasn't too noisy. Mini fridge kept our drinks cold. The bathroom was clean. Front desk help was very friendly & helpful.
Clean
No hot water (after we left a note at the office, this was addressed.) No ventilation for the shower; this left the whole place with a very musty odor, making it difficult to breathe. The bathroom door needs an adjustment; it is swollen from the moisture and the knob doesn't work well. Hair on the sheets (which otherwise seemed clean). More hooks and shelves needed! It would be helpful if each side of the bed had a nightstand. Seemed well cared for, other than some poor design features. Area was quiet.
We were put in a room right behind the garbage containers so .....yuck! For the price we expected nicer facilities.
Quiet and comfortable.
Property was walking distance to Port Austin.
Good value for the money.
Even better than expected
Motel was even better than expected- it’s an older property but very clean, room was well appointed, pool area was nice, overall well maintained.
Clean, quiet and close town. - The coffee maker wasn't working. No coffee refill.
It was fine for what we needed. On check-in we had to wait for someone to come and help us and then they seemed very annoyed when I asked a couple questions about where our room was and parking.
Definitely a great price for the place and location! I came to Port Austin to paddle board and just wanted a safe and clean place to sleep. This place was perfect! It felt like I was in a little homey cabin. Great location for where I wanted to go. Unfortunately, a storm came through unexpectedly the night I was there so it was too wet to sit out and grill or have a fire hit the room was cozy, clean, and perfect. This will definitely be where I stay next time!
Great location
Clean no frills w/pool close to lake
Nice clean place, within walking distance to food, shops, and the lake. Pool area also nice.
Very clean
Room was very clean, bed was comfortable and staff was friendly and helpful. Nothing fancy. But everything worked. Wifi was good.
We absolutely LOVED our little cabin. Clean with everything we needed. Walking distance to the water. Pool was clean and great temp.
Nice place. Not right downtown. Walkable if young.
With dietary concerns to consider, we were given great information regarding the local restaurants that could accommodate our needs from the front desk staff! They were very professional. The room was very clean and comfortable! Although we didn't use the pool area due to weather, it did look inviting.
The motel was very clean. The bed was comfortable, and the AC worked great. We enjoyed the outdoor pool. It was very conveniently located to downtown Port Austin and the beach. The Farmer's Market on Saturday was fantastic!
It was nice and quite
It was great rooms were good we stayed in the cabins would do it again staff was very nice and helpful
Easy check in, friendly staff. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, the place was quiet, everything you need was provided. The pool was well maintained and the parking is spacious. You can easily walk into town from the property. We enjoyed our time here.
Very nice and very clean. Close to town was a plus. Stayed on an end which worked out fine, but our view of the neighbors back yard and fire pit and dog seemed strange to us!
Our stay was wonderful. Updated cabin and everything was clean. Pool was nice too. We will definitely stay here again!
They were great! They upgraded us as well when we got there. Very clean.
It was an older hotel showing some age but clean and near downtown.
Lovely, basic motel. Clean room and easy access. Would appreciated an ice machine, but otherwise this meet our needs.
It was a good stay. Walking distance to restaurants and shops.
The patio furniture outside needs to be replaced or repaired.
Great and clean!
A hot night
The air conditioner didn’t cool the room very well. The staff was friendly. There was no coffee for the coffee maker. But if you need a place to sleep. It works
The picture available on Expedia are of the Blue Spruce Motel, I guess. I booked through Expedia and I was placed in a cabin (not a room) in the adjacent "Lucky Horseshoe" Motel. I guess these two businesses are one. The ca5bin was definitely not "standard room" as it was a cabin. A very old one. Everything in it was old and the beds were short (I am 5'11" so not an extremely tall person). I would book a different motel had I seen the pictures of the actual property I was in.
Our toliet seat slid everytime you sat. Place was clean, bed not so comfortable. Great location. Pool was nice.
Pure Michigan
This is truly a gem of Port Austin. Easy access to absolutely everything in town! Stephanie at the front desk always greets you with a smile and has everything you may have forgotten! This AZ family with MI roots will always make this our go to base when in town!
Nice place to stay! Very helpful front office! Clean room
Rooms are outdated
It was very quaint. Great room very quiet. Enjoyed the beach about 7 miles away. Check in very easy. We want to come back!!
The hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I would stay here again.
The manager was nice enough. Although we only spoke with her briefly. Room keys are left in an easily accessible "box" in front of the office that ANYONE could grab a key and "stay the night" without the manager knowing. There was an empty beer bottle by the room door and an ash tray. We were only staying for one night and were the only ones there. The shower took 4 minutes to get hot water. I almost didn't shower because I thought there was no hot water. There was a lack of counter or shelf space to set our clothes on while we showered. There were no bathroom amenities like hand soap or shampoo/conditioner, kleenex, blow dryer. The "hanger" on the wall for clothes was missing 3 out of 4 hooks. Very dark shower with no nearby light. The worst thing was my white socks were orangey-brown on the bottom after walking on the stained carpet. I don't know what this stain was from. My husband and I started sneezing the minute we walked into the room & off and on all night and had stuffy sinuses when we woke up in the morning. We had not had sinus issues our whole trip. The room smelled either of stale smoke or animal mixed with stale air. It was not a pleasant stay. thankfully it was just one night. Maybe it's better during the summer when it's warmer and the windows can be opened, but they obviously don't care about the end-of-season people. Won't stay again.
The color
The place was beautiful and the service was great, but my hot water was never hot in the shower.I give it a 8.5 out of 10 , thanks for everything it was great
When they brought fresh towels on second day trash was not emptied
liked the pool! had a fridge. could have used a microwave oven.
We had a "cabin" in the adjoining Lucky Horseshoe Motel. They're old and not in great shape. The bed was a small double bed, hardly enough space for two people. And, the television was an old CRT TV!
It’s a great little place to to sleep. Has the necessities. Having a pool is great to keep kiddos happy.
Cute little cabin. Nice and quiet the night that we were there.
Quaint little place, very clean and close to many attractions
The Blue Spruce was very cute and comfortable.
very clean. kept up nicely. short walk to the downtown area. p.s. Stephanie also gave us the lower price of our room when we checked in. we will be back to the Blue Spruce Motel.
