The property is very nice BUT the staff is what makes this resort OUTSTANDING. Thank you to everyone for the Greek language lessons and taking care of all our needs.
My stay at this hotel in Plaka was nothing short of perfect. The staff were incredibly attentive, always ready to assist with a smile, and made me feel truly welcome throughout my stay. The hotel itself is absolutely gorgeous, with stunning views that took my breath away every day. The food was outstanding, and the breakfast was especially delicious, offering a great variety to start the day. This is easily the best place to stay in Plaka, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a beautiful and relaxing getaway!
The Phaea Blue Palace is amazing. The staff, the rooms, the dining are all superior. The staff is so helpful and kind. The view from the rooms are peaceful and breathtaking. It was a wonderful experience.
Very Nice :)
The property is old and lacks basics in the rooms. No connection to the TV, no speakers for music, no iron It’s about time for a refit and restyle
My wife and I were quite impressed with the hotel facilities and super professional staff. We celebrated our wedding anniversary and enjoyed an exceptional time. We ate at the Isola and Andos restaurants. Food cooked over wood fire tasted subliminal. Best option to stay in the Plaka and Agios Nikolai’s areas
I enjoyed my stay. Beautiful resort and stuff is very polite, helpful and friendly! Perfect spot if you are looking for luxurious and relaxing vacation.
We enjoyed our stay at Blue Palace. The staff is very friendly - especially the parking staff. There are lots of dining options on the property. The location is great. It is close to Elounda/Plaka, but not too close so it still feels private/peaceful. It has tremendous potential. The breakfast buffet is great - tons of options. Our only complaint is that everything feels very dated. Also, the 'private' pools are not very private.
Upon our late-night arrival, the staff showcased commendable hospitality, accommodating us gracefully. It set a positive tone for our stay, making it all the more disheartening to witness a dent in this welcoming facade: two young girls at the reception who consistently came across as standoffish. Their demeanor starkly contrasted with the other reception staff members, who were consistently amiable and proactive. A standout amongst the staff was the concierge. He was not only resourceful but was the epitome of warmth, making him the most pleasant to deal with. His efforts significantly enriched our experience, and it was evident that he took immense pride in his role. However, the overall charm of the hotel was dampened when we discovered the state of our private pool. A layer of green algae draped the rocky sides, suggesting a clear lack of maintenance. For a facility that's promoted as a highlight, it's paramount that it remains in pristine condition for guests to enjoy. Housekeeping was a roller-coaster, varying from immaculate attention to detail on some days to a cursory tidying up on others. The most unsettling issue came during checkout. To our dismay, we identified charges on our final bill for items and services we never availed. While the hotel was prompt in addressing and rectifying the mistake, such oversight raises questions on attention to detail and accuracy, both crucial in the hospitality sector.
Beautiful resort
We returned from 6 night stay. Beautiful large resort hotel. Friendly, welcoming and helpful staff. Our bungalow room with patio was roomy and lovely view. Pools amazing, food delicious. Nearby to two villages, one within walking distance with nice restaurants. Hotel just over an hour taxi from Heraklion airport but worth it! The beach is stones but access from marina. Water crystal clear. Plenty of activities. We went to the full moon party which was fun, dj plus fireworks. My only negative would be the holding of the Sun loungers at beach. Apparently not meant to book, but they were being held with towels, books and beach bags from 9.30 until after 2. This is unfair to other guests and could easily be monitored by the towel staff.
The Blue Palace is one of the most exceptional, stunningly beautiful hotel in Crete. Property cleanness but especially the staff, professional and very kind attitude makes this place even more special. Definitely a five star hotel.
Great staff, very clean, perfect view, and couldnt have asked for better service quick response time with all needs! Thank you
I never take the time to leave reviews, but for this property I will. It's a spectacular setting, like blow your mind, and the service was outstanding -- luxury all around. Small examples -- the piano playing durning the gorgeous breakfast, live music at night, the speed boat you can hire at the end of the dock. Rooms needs a tiny bit of updating so ask to stay in the newer part of the resort, which I didn't see but assume furniture and fixtures are a bit more to date. Other than that, I couldn't believe how incredible the place was for the price...
This hotel was amazing. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet had a lot of great options. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
We went for our anniversary and the experience was simply fantastic. From the second we arrived we felt welcomed and taken care of. The beach was amazing! The service outstanding. I would highly recommend
Highly recommend this resort. Staff friendly and responsive. Food at resort was great. Views are tremendous. Really a top-notch experience.
The setting of this property is stunning. It sits in its own gorgeous bay across from an old leper colony. There are no other hotels in sight, which makes the views from the many balconies within Blue Palace Elounda even more enjoyable.
Good service, poor noise isolation
The location is amazing, got a beautiful view and nice swimming pool. The staff are very thoughtful and friendly, they have been well trained to provide high standard hospitality. The downside is the facility, the room is old and the noise isolation is none, you can easily hear every little noise from corridors and every little movement from upstairs, we have to wear earplugs all the nights to have a good sleep.
The best hotel
Our stay at the Blue Palace was absolutely amazing. The staff were attentive, helpful and our room was clean. The food was the best I’ve ever tasted. It’s the best hotel I’ve stayed at.
You’ll love the location, the rooms are kept in great condition and clean, the beach area is really well done and ample room, the gym was well appointed and the staff were extraordinary. The only issue with this property is the design included no central walkway up the hill - so you wait for the tram up or walk up way around - although there is a secret way only the staff know, that I figured out ! I’ll definitely be back, in fact going back in 2 weeks!
Stayed at the Sepses Suite with a private pool overlooking Spinalonga. Room + Pool were excellent, staff is fantastic, friendly and eager to help in any way they can. The only let down was the quality of the Room Service food, which was unacceptable for this hotel (Burger that was worse than that of a fast-food outlet, with bland ready made fries, a set of cheese-pies in the afternoon was clearly brought over from the breakfast buffet and reheated, not cooked from fresh). Minor gripes were the illogically placed bannisters in the balcony, that do not permit you to enjoy the fantastic view if you are seated. What is the point of installing sky-high banners that prevent guests from enjoying the view they are paying for? Same for the pool area, you are looking at a low rock wall and not the view, which however is visible when you are seated on the deck.
Absolutely wonderful stay!
It’s Very Good..
We will be back
This is our seventh time staying here I think that says it all it has beautiful views the facilities are excellent the restaurants are top quality for Greece
Service is a disaster – worst Marriott experience
First,no one came to pick up our car and our luggage. Then we had no viewing of the stiff property which is problematic when no one had told you about the only existing funicular. Their English is poor.Male staff can be rude,e.g. declining to get you a coffee 5mn before the breakfast ends. They’ll clear the table though you’re not done, carrying dirty dishes from others. Multiple times our car came 30mn late after chasing and bringing someone’s else car.Once they just dropped it at the reception, engine and key on and no one around. More shocking, when we arrived at Sixt airport agency before flying, we realised that they had left the car key of another client into ours. Expect them to enter your room, randomly call despite your privacy request. Staff is robotic and unable to address any unexpected remark such as a no when asking if you’re pleased with your stay (with no action). Beach staff can be incredibly lazy (exception for the supervisor). They chill and can decline to bring you towels. No shame in letting elder people struggling to sit despite having the large area for suites almost empty. Conciergerie missed a dinner reservation. Final bill was twice wrong;we had to explain that is technically impossible that we had lunch before we checked in. Even hotels.com supervisor complained about them when trying to modify our reservation, which never happened. Don’t except a special treatment if you’re a Marriott Bonvoy member, late checkout or upgrade, despite availability
This hotel is just amazing. The pictures and website do not do it justice. Ignore the comments on the slow funicular (it’s not!) and poor quality of food (not a bad meal in a week!), and do yourself a favor and book this place! We ate at every restaurant except the sushi place and all were fantastic. Service was second to none. Employees like Niki made our experience even more enjoyable. My only complaint would be the typical Greek plumbing woes which I think can’t be escaped. As well as the rush for beach loungers. If you don’t stake your place by 10am you may not get a spot on the beach. Kudos to all the staff and management for making our first foray over the pond in 4 years one to remember.
the staff and servers were very good! The big issue here is the wind made laying near the sea impossible! a beautiful island the people are wonderful.
Stunning, the view from our room was to die for
20th anniversary holiday, so we chose The Blue Palace as location looked perfect, we weren’t disappointed, we arrived very early at 11:30 and our room was ready! Someone parked our car and took our cases to our room…customer service is second to none, we really felt looked after, the turn down service at night is a nice touch too. We had a pool room and it overlooked Spinalonga, which is well worth a visit. The food could not be faulted, breakfast had a huge choice of cooked, continental, fruit, cakes, omelette made to order. Isola restaurant was also fab, huge portions, we shared a caprese salad as starter and couldn’t finish it. Hotel is within touching distance of Plaka, a beautiful small village with lots of restaurants and 5-10 mins walk. Elounda was 2-3 miles away so a bit far to walk to, but lovely to walk round in the evening. It was a perfect holiday for us, highly recommend.
If you're going to be anywhere in the Mediterranean and or the Greek Islands, and are looking to escape, this is a great place to stay. Staff was attentive and accommodating, to say the least. Room was incredible. Two floors, one private balcony, one private pool. Room was on the top of the resort overlooking the water and Spinalonga island. Multiple restaurants on site. Private beach at the bottom. Spa. Don't need much else.
For the hotel rating we were expecting a bit more. The property views were nice but we found at least the room we were staying in was a bit dated. Could use some small refresher to make it a lot better. We had half board and thought breakfast was good but dinner was very mediocre. Staff was all very helpful through our stay. We had bad weather so booked a day at the spa. Massages were great but facilities were a bit disappointing. There was no water out while waiting for your appointment and the mens steam room was broken and hot tubs were not hot. Check out was quite an awful Experience. We waiting 30 min for someone to come get our luggage when we let them know we are in a rush. We tried to bring our own luggage up but the elevator was broken down. When someone finally came there was an long line at reception. We were going to miss our ferry so said we were going to leave because we had a card on file. We were told we could not leave. When we left security chased our car and made us feel like criminals. I have never had to formally check out of a hotel in the last 5 years because they always have a credit card on file. We felt this was extremely unprofessional and that they need to get this organized for the future. Multiple people were outside complaining they were at risk of missing flights due to the slow check process that they were mandating. This definitely needs to be fixed in the future.
Amazing place, staff, food….everything! We will come back!
View spectacular. Food and service poor
Starting with the great was our room with a spectacular view (Room 504) Heated private pool with spacious room. This was the best part. The beach wasnt my favorite because it was stoney and you could only get in by jumping off a dock. The buffet was awful but typical of an all inclusive. So we ate out mostly even thought breakfast and dinner was included. Our first night we had a screaming couple beside us and had to call about it 3 times. That was pretty awful. I have to say with that view what is there to fight about. But whatever. The beach bar has decent food but that is not included. The service was bad when we asked for mini bar items (which during covid you had to call down for) They never had stock of the items. So when we wanted snacks we were told they are out of stock. Lastly, they did q poor job of explaining where you could get food and what times. Overall, we wouldnt stay there again.
The Perfect Luxury stay
I was on a solo trip in Crete and wanted a break from daily life. So I found Blue Palace. First, the location. Amazing! (Even if very windy while I was there) The resort itself and facilities are beautiful. The elevator going from the reception to the beach is the special plus of the hotel. It can also be the minus as you have to wait quit long minutes sometimes but you have ways to reach your destination by foot too. The rooms are well maintained and so comfortable. The service is 5stars definitely, professional even though it could be sometimes a bit more real-friendly. The breakfast is high level. And the treatments provided at the SPA are magical. Expenses are high so plan it in advance. I spent 3 perfect nights in Blue Palace and will definitely come back!
Fantastic setting and very good staff
The property is just amazing it is all new and made with care and beauty Obviously a place like this charge a lot on every service or food item to my taste a bit too much
The property is beautiful, cleaning was to exceptionally high standard and the majority of staff was so lovely and accommodating. However, the arrogance of management have completely overshadowed the whole experience to the point that although I am a very regular Marriott customer I would never stay in one of their properties again. During our stay my husband developed acute gastroenteritis although we didn’t eat out of the property at all. I won’t go into details as it was very disappointing experience but both management and Marriott management, to whom we latter complained, seemed to be only interested in a tick box exercise, twisting facts to show how the hotel had nothing to do with it and blaming their customers ( us). All and all I am sure you will have a lovely stay, but be aware that if an issue does come up - do not expect a genuine, caring service.
Beautiful property with excellent service and food!!
Exclusive property with good selection of activities and good water based entertainment
I stayed 3 nights with my wife right at the beginning of the season. The pictures do not even describe the beauty of the place, it's been complete heaven. The Deluxe Suite totally worth it, the way the infinite pool mixes with the view is incredible. staff is extremely nice and you really don't have to worry about a thing besides checking in & out and paying :) Good food at the resort, and also great places just a few km away Unbelievable value for money. I will be definitely returning. Thank you
Greta hotel in Plaka

Wonderful hotel- impeccable service, beautiful view, facility and beach. Highly recommended!
Blue palace
We were greeted at reception by Panos!!! He is great and very friendly and efficient. The beach is the best! If you stay here ...be sure to get a room aeay from the busy street.
Very nice place and a great resort!
Very comfortable suites with amazing views, excellent facilities (beach, pools, restaurant and gym are all really good) and a short walk from a small village where you can experience delicious local food. Staff all very friendly and helpful.
Best place we ever stayed! Amazing staff. Great food. Fantastic location. Zero issues.
Beautiful property and very nice staff. Quiet location and small village of Plaka just 5 minute walk from hotel to find about 12-15 restaurants.
ur Greek retreat
We have stayed at the Blue Palace 7 years on the bonce we call it our “Greek Medicine “ there are a good choice of restaurants varying in price and a local town Plaka if you fancy something different. The staff are lovely they cannot do enough for you and there is a lot of different types of rooms to sort all budgets.
Everything was just amazing! We just knew from the second we arrived this property checked all our boxes. Perfect holiday! We will be back
Fabulous resort!
The Blue Palace is excellent in every possible way! It has everything anyone could ever want in a vacation! Bravo!
My husband and I spoiled ourselves by staying here. We absolutely loved the privacy we had and how quiet the rooms were. We also enjoyed having our own private pool. The different activities kept us well entertained when we were looking for something to do. We utilized the spa services and loved the couples massage. Overall, just a great getaway and we were sad to leave.
Beautiful facilities, and very helpful staff to make our visit there feels luxurious
Amazing service from really friendly staff. Beautiful hotel, 5* with a relaxed atmosphere.
Amazing beach and pool. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location on Crete across from Spinalonga. The breakfast has so many choices and is super delicious. The restaurants are pretty good with the blue door being my favorite.
Beautiful place, the people, the food the design! Just laking a little more happening and music!
The hotel and staff are terrific. It is a top notch resort. The only downside is that there was a terrible smell coming from the air conditioner.
Luxury, great food and staff.
A high quality resort, excellent in all areas & ideal for kicking back after a hectic few weeks visiting many islands. We loved the nearby town of Plaka, only about 10 minutes walk and flush with great food and hospitality. We ate at restaurants at the resort, and food and service there were excellent. The breakfast buffet was amazing with a wide range of Greek and western food, with a special bonus of champagne and great coffee (sometimes hard for an Australian coffee snob to find acceptable coffee, but not so here). We booked a bungalow, but discovered it wasn't a standalone small cottage, as expected of a Bungalow, rather a hotel room in a wing & seperate to the main building. Apparently that's fairly common practice in Europe. We were slightly disappointed, however it was a well appointed room with a comfy king sized bed, and a great view of the bay. We'd stay there again.
Relaxation at its best
Wonderful property with outstanding staff located on a beautiful Caribbean cove.
Loved the property. Happy they changed our initial room when it was available
The best luxury hotel Crete has to offer
Looking for luxury on Crete? The Blue Palace is it. This hotel is by far the most gorgeous resort on Greece's largest island. Be prepared to encounter the very best in hospitality, most gorgeous views of The Mediterranean and Spinalonga, and taken care of. I couldn't recommend this hotel any more.
The location was brilliant, the resort well laid out and the staff very helpful and attentive without being intrusive. The only downside was the Cretan staff using American phrases to communicate with staff eg Have a Nice Day. Use of Greek phrases would have been more authentic and consistent with where we were.
A splendid hotel
A splendid hotel. Spacious well-furnished and equipped room with sea view. Own beach, wide and clean, fantastic view over Spinalonga island. Several pools; several restaurants. Terrific terrace of the main building. Elunda and Agos Nicolaus are only several minutes drive from the hotel.
The view was fantastic. The suite with a large “L” shaped private pool was perfect. The hotel property was a great place to stay for 5 days.
Super luxurious resort, a true 5 star experience in a beautiful setting
Amazing ocean view with a spacious balcony. The breakfast buffet was varied and well presented. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were very well kept but showing their age with a lack of USB connections.
Stunning view of the bay. Good food and easy beach access.
It was a spectacular luxury resort and excelled in all areas!!!
Loved everything except for the sky lift that takes you from the lobby, to rooms then to the beach. There wasn’t a way to walk so you had to rely on this and there was only one sky lift so essentially the entire hotel has one ‘elevator.’ The food, rooms, location all exceptional. You can walk to the little fish town down the street which is really charming and great for local food experience
Beautiful Resort
Amazing beach Resort
Amazing resort with Excellent service, food and ambiance. Lovely beach. Highly recommend
Great hotel and family friendly
Excellent accommodation, very friendly staff, and great location. Everything was perfect. Thank you
Expensive room rates and lacked the five star experience.
Beautiful hotel on private beach. The entire staff was very friendly and happy to help. Each of the restaurants on site were fantastic, there really is no need to leave the property.
The Blue Palace hotel was excellent, very nice and had first class service.
Great location, great waiter staff. Had a wonderful vacation.
ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS FACILITY WAS AWESOME. THE STAFF WERE SPECIAL. THE DINING WAS SUPERB. ALL WAY OVER THE TOP. CANT WAIT TO ENJOY IT ALL AGAIN
Outstanding
This was my husband and mine our 2 second visit and out friends first visit what can we say it was outstanding. Highly recommend this place if you want a quiet vacation on the island of Crete.
The location is wonderful and the hotel is outstanding. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly - this is my second time at the resort and I cannot fault it!
Gorgeous Hotel in Secluded Location
This hotel takes their inclusion in the Luxury Collection seriously. From the scenery to the attention to the smallest detail, they lived up to all expectations.
Amazing experience, though one of the bathrooms did not resupply with conditioner.
Highly Recommended
Everything about this hotel is beautiful & perfect!!
Great stay in Crete
Blue palace was amazing from start to finish. Make sure you get a private plunge pool. Lots of children at the pools so was really nice to have our own space to take in the sun. Restaurants and property were top notch and service was fantastic. Definitely recommend! It's about an hour from the airport so we rented a car, definitely get one day of at the airport. I prepared and definitely overpaid!
A simply splendid location!
The view of Spinalonga was incomparable! The hotel staff were wonderful and the rooms deliciously comfortable. The food on site was fairly good but pricey. The drinks were excellent but even water was costly.
Relaxing
Quality hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Get a room with a pool for fantastic sunrise views. Certainly a special place and you get what you pay for. The Blue Door restaurant is the pick for in house dining although taking a relaxed long late lunch at your choice of Taverna in Plaka is just as good. Thallassa is exellent.
The Hotel is really nice but a few bad points. There is just ONE lift that serves the hotel from reception/ rooms to the beach which is VERY SLOW that has glass paneling so is extremely hot with a fan blowing hot air in your face (No air con). There are no stairs directly from rooms to beach/ Reception so you have to use the service roads if you do not want to use the lift which is not ideal. On arrival the Reception staff were not very helpful as I had a problem with the room and waited for over an hour for them to call me back after repeatedly calling them back. After traveling for 9 Hours this was very frustrating. On departure we had a evening flight and requested for a late check out. I was then informed I had to check out at Midday and have to move to another room until 17.00 Hrs for 440 EUROS!!. We wanted to get something to eat from one the restaurants or beach bar before we got taxi to airport at 19.OO Hrs and found everything was closed at 17.00 Hrs that we were not informed about and did not re open until 19.00 Hrs. Be prepared for sky high prices at the bar. One large beer 9 EUROS!
Blue Palace resort review
Overall a fantastic resort with only one thing that really needs to be resolved. There is only one elevator from the top floor to the beach and access to many apartments. Other than that a fantastic resort, amazing staff, beautiful rooms and great location, only let down by one small undersight in resort design given the size of the property.
Overall great stay. Very friendly and helpful staff. Modern and clean rooms/facilities. In resort prices on the higher side, but that's expected of a resort. Close to towns to easily adventure out.
The hotel is amazing, just perfect
Excellent setting
Lovely setting overlooking Spinalonga - an unspoilt area - coming to the end of the season so wasn't overly crowded which suited us perfectly.
Great calm vacation for families and couples
Our stay was wonderful , the staff is very lovely and the hotel has an amazing private beach (though not sandy)
Stunning resort
Incredible resort!
Well worth it!!
We were upgraded without asking to a beautiful luxury suite with a private pool. What an amazing treat!! The views were spectacular! The resort is beautiful, the pool area one of the best. The beach, is not a beach but rocks, but beautifully done and very comfortable. The room was spotless, the room service excellent. The hotel amenities excellent. The restaurants- Italian was Pretty good. Oriental not so good. Did not try Greek restaurant. You might want to book that before you arrive. Seems to be pretty popular. Flame was amazing, wish we ate there every night. Very odd thing, with the exception to Flame you cannot get a mixed drink. For someone who does not drink any kind of wine or beer this was a huge negative. We are at a 5 star resort. I ended up asking for a glass of cranberry juice, a glass of pineapple juice and a vodka on the rocks. I mixed it by myself. Spinalonga, a 5 minute ferry ride is a great place to see, very sad but also very beautiful. Get a ferry from the town of Plaka, a 5 minute walk, cute little town. Great short drives from Blue Palace to neighboring towns that are worth the visit. Renting a car there was very easy but also very expensive.
Little Heaven
Everything was absolutely amazing. Wish we stayed longer!
Want to go back
Wonderful mix of touring and relaxing. Food was great
Internet
Our overall stay was great with the exception of the Internet. The stay came with standard and if you wanted faster internet you could buy premium. We spent 50€ for 3 days and it still didn't work very well.
Blue Palace
This is a portal to heaven. Just an amazing place to stay for relaxation and romance. Amazing pools!
Absolutely stunning and perfect luxury hotel. Has everything you need, the facilities and space look and feel great. Staff is second to none and food was terrific. The highlight is the private beach and perfect view of Spinalonga.
