The pool area was lovely. Looking out onto the ocean was so relaxing. The staff were all very lovely. Only problems i had were walking the lane to hotel at night was a bit scary and my bathroom smelled.
Nice staff, clean rooms, good beach view
The resort was lovely. The service was fantastic. There was a small restaurant on site and the food was good. The town is not far and definitely walkable. Some great dining options there. The resort is quite a drive to the airport, it took two hours to get there. The resort has a great pool And very quiet. I had some challenges getting ahold of them Prior to my arrival but eventually did and everything worked out! A few of the rooms have steep stairs to get into the room so if you can’t do stairs be sure to ask for a ground level room.
Anniversary & Bucket List Celebration
Wonderful experience. Great weather in October. Great food. Super, pleasant, friendly staff. Hidden away, small, quaint, & cozy, on a water front with amazing views. Far enough from traffic centers & close enough to cultural & entertainment sites. Walking distance from a strip of restaurants & stores that were all reasonably priced. The dollar goes far in Bali. This is an older facility. Shuttle to sister facility with a larger pool & waterfront. Comfortable, not luxurious, but impressive. Beautiful flowers. Lotus Pond nearby. We hope an opportunity to visit presents itself again.
Awesome supwr friendly staff, snorkelling right out front
Hotel advised upon checkin that there was a problem with the plumbing so moved me to a "sister property" Bali Palms. The Bali Palms was filthy, air conditioning didn't work, uncaring management and came home one night to find a rat on my bed.
A very nice, well run older property in a great location. One of best beach strips, quiet, easy stroll to town. A compact site, rooms were comfortable. Would stay again.
Very cozy boutique resort. Super friendly, accommodating staff and very clean. Slightly outdated but ongoing renovations so property is looked after. Definitely recommend!!
value for money and many good qualities
this hotel is located near blue lagoon which is like swimming in a well stocked aquarium. breakfasts are good, wifi in room could be better, staff are very attentive, pool is quite good
Hi we stayed just recently it has a lovely view however the hotel needs to have some work done to it
Beautiful location although far from restaurants and bars
Great place to stay. Staff fantastic and always ready to help, I booked online to get best price, needs a few more sun beds but that’s it. I’ll definitely stay here again
Lovely stay!
Had a lovely stay here. The staff were amazing and looked after us so very well. Room was clean and comfortable. Will definitely come back !
It was very relaxing and quiet and is well suited for the older age bracket
short break
Great location close to great restaurants. Check your final account carefully before leaving, unfortunately they charged us for breakfast even though it was included in the price. Good for quiet relaxing time. Organise your own transport as the hotel charges heaps.
We had a wonderful stay! The first room we had was far to noisy due to all the roosters next door, the staff moved us with no issues to a much better room.
Old hotel and overpriced
This property is a time share property as well as bookings from websites. The buildings are old and need major upgrade. I booked on Expedia and paid 150AUD for a room that was sub standard. When questioned about the price, was told it was because of when I booked. And here is me thinking price was dependent upon when you wanted to stay. My room had plumbing problems that were not rectified correctly the first time I reported not being able to flush a toilet. Subsequently upon returning to my room at 11 pm and finding the flush not working, gettting help from 3 security guards was tricky as I don't believe any of them were plumbers. The staff was apologetic and eventually I was moved to another room, but I won't return or recommend this hotel to anyone until a major refurbishment is evident.
Great value and location!
Friendly and attentive staff, relaxed atmosphere, great location!
Peaceful scenic getaway on the beach
Peaceful not far to walk to shops peaceful, right on the beach, food great
It's about right for the price
Don't expect a 5 star hotel here. They have a lot of the amenities, and the restaurant is good, but it's a little tired. The staff are good The beach is just a sliver, but that's just east Bali in general If I was on a budget, I would stay here again
Awesome snorkeling immediately from hotel
The great snorkeling from the beach at this hotel was awesome. Just feet from the hotel steps were fish and the reef, although dead coral in some parts, was really good for snorkeling. This was the best thing about the hotel, which is rather jaded and needs upgrading in many rooms, but the friendly staff and the sea won me over so I would certainly stay here again on future visits to Candidasa.
clam and peaceful
Very friendly atmosphere
Time share in great need of refurbishment However it has a great atmosphere .
Nice budget priced hotel close to the beach
We had a 2 day stopover in Candi Dasa and enjoyed going snorkelling at Blue Lagoon and even did some snorkelling right out the front of The Shangrila which was quite nice. We enjoyed a sunrise hike up the nearby mountain and saw the new temple being built and many monkeys.
Great small hotel
Great place to stay in Candidassa, no children there when we were there so room in the pool. Pool needs refurbishing Rooms ate starting to be refurbished this is great Easy walk to many restaurants
Great little hotel overlooking the beach
Small intimate hotel no kids during our stay i would tecomend to anyone who wishes to get out of the busy kuta area
Shangrila Hotel in Candi Dasa Bali- awesome!
We had a lovely stay at Shangrila. Staff were great and helpful and friendly. Food was good in the restaurant. Sea view spectacular. beach a bonus. aircon worked very well. all round, I would recommend this to anyone and like to come back again here. thankyou
Astonishing stay at candidasa
great place, great location, comfortable holiday vacation
Nice quiet hotel right on the beach great place
Great place to stay time seems to slow down right on beach close to diving and snorkling small strip of restaurants walking distance from hotel
Relaxing
out of the way but only a 5 min walk back to the main street, lots of water activities available through the resort. must do the trek up the minnie mountain to see the sunrise, wild monkeys and temple. about a 1 and a half walk up.
Fantastic staff made the difference
Stayed here for 2 nights as a base for trekking Mt Agung. The beach location is fantastic, with amazing corals and tropical fish right outside your doorstep. The hotel organised a guy to come with snorkelling equipment for a 24 hour rental. The pool was clean and deep, and close enough to the bar to enjoy a few cold ones in the water. Our rooms were clean and tidy, but dated. This wasn't too much of a problem, everything worked fine. The staff are very friendly and helpful, charging my phone at reception, providing adapters, and just generally being awesome. Breakfast was basic but good.
The Bali Shangrila was in a great location off the main street. It had a great beach access and you were able to book a boat for snorkeling right at the hotel. There were many wonderful restaurants near by as well as great food on site. The staff was wonderful and friendly. The only negative comment I have about this hotel is the area next door. Our room was right next to a home that had roosters. I did not grow up on a farm but if you like being woken up each morning at 4:30 am then room 8 if for you. Other wise stay clear. If we were staying for an extended stay we would have requested a room switch. Other then the roosters in the morning our stay was fantastic.
Quiet and relaxing
This place was ok for a night or two, relaxing. Good snorkelling out front from the beach, rooms have everything you need, and it has a nice pool area. A few good restaurants around, a great place called the "new queen" for food and live music three times a week on the main strip.
A really enjoyable stay.
This was our second stay here and we really enjoyed it. It is in a fantastic location - right on the beach, with excellent snorkeling just outside the hotel grounds. I recommend the suckling pig night on Sunday - the food was delicious with good entertainment. My only minor grumbles would be that our room was quite close to the restaurant so it was a little noisy in the morning, the guys trying to sell snorkeling trips on the beach were a little intrusive and the price the hotel quoted for transport was expensive. Overall, however, I would definitely recommend staying here.
Good stay at Bali Shangrila
3day booking extended by a further 2days.The studio was ideal came with equipment that allows you to make your own refreshments, shower was a little tired bed was good size and comfortable. Lovely staff couldn't do enough for you and all with a smile.Nice pool not the biggest however if bigger required the facilities at the sister hotel are available with a free shuttle.Included breakfasts are tasty, the menu is varied and comparable with local restaurants.enjoyable stay
Couldn't get any better than this . . .
Situated right on the beach, Bali Shangrila Beach Club is a perfect getaway destination. It is one of only a few resorts left in Candidasa that has its own white sand beach with a coral reef teaming with fish about 30 metres off shore that provides some of the best snorkelling in Bali. No need to go to Blue Lagoon or Amed. It's all right here and only a 5 minute walk into the main street. Candidasa has great restaurants. I highly recommend Vincent and La Rouge as well as the Crazy Kangaroo and a burger with Gary at No Nasi Goreng is a necessity. The best burger I've had outside Andrews in Melbourne. Candidasa also has a large expat population and they are all wonderful people.
Nice older hotel with great character
Great staff, tiny beach with great schnorkelling and coral within metres of the hotel. Lots of great restaurants within easy walking distance. No big hotels, no KFC/McD's in the village, but still plenty to do and see.
Lovely stay
I am glad I went in February when it was low season. The location is great right next to the water.Pool was great.Rooms very clean and staff very accomodating. The food was great and I look forward to staying there again.
Right on the beach and lots of restaurants
Good location in small cozy town Massages on the beach were amazing and cheap!
Facilities: Everyday; Service: Polite; Cleanliness: Clean;
great location
relaxing holiday
Facilities: Basic; Value: Great deal; Service: Inferior; Cleanliness: Pleasant; Swimming and beach not great
Shangrala is great
I loved this hotel . The service was amazing and the great.
not foe me
The room as photographed on the web site showed an airy, light room with windows. The room I had, room 5 and 6. had one small window which looked out onto the main path into the hotel, and the only window was in the door which looked straight onto the reception area where if we lleft the curtain open, everyone passing by could see in. There was no outside area to sit in. I asked for another room. but was told we could be moved the next day, but the next day we were told there were no rooms to move into even though there was a vacancy sign on the hotel entrance. If we had had a room as shown on the internet. with a patio to sit in and not overlooking the reception are we would have been happy. I would not book this hotel again as I would be apprehensive about which room we could end up with.
Great place to relax
We have been to Shangrila several times and have every intention of returning. The staff are great and we have made many friends of the locals. This time I did feel that the place had been let go a bit and that more of the money was being spent on the sister resort Bali Palms. There is a rooftop spa area that is normally magic sitting up there of an afternoon but the spa was out of order and looked like it had been for a while, the whole are looked in need of repair. Other than that I would recommend the resort to anyone who is interested in the original Bali.
Fabulous location
This is a small hotel of about 40 rooms located right next to the sea. The outlook from the restaurant is incredible. A perfect location for a get away from it all romantic holiday, though it was only a short walk to the local bars, shops etc. The staff were fantastic and couldn't do enough for you and always smiling. An ideal hotel for people who prefer a more genuine Balinese location. This hotel was an integral part of probably the best holiday I have ever taken. Many thanks to all their staff.
Peaceful
Nice hotel located adjacent beach in a peaceful area near shops and restaurants. Good service, clean rooms and facilities. Excellent value for money.
Facilities: Good; Value: Low-priced; Service: Go the extra mile; Cleanliness: Tidy; great snorkelling off the beach in front of the resort
Facilities: Distinctive; Value: Affordable; Service: Friendly, Courteous; Cleanliness: Pleasant;
super friendly welcome on arrival, which didn’t waiver throughout our 3 days here. Food and drinks a little more expensive than local restaurants, but it was convenient. View from pool, bar and room is beautiful, you can just sit and pass the day enjoying the view. Reasonable amount of things to do locally, but for a more fulfilled day you’d need to venture further afield. Divers/taxis at the top of the road are excellent value - cheaper than using grab.
