This hotel was one of the best I've ever stayed at! The design of the space is very beautiful and calming, and makes the most of a small area. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and we enjoyed the live dj and Thai dinner. Definitely recommend!
Amazing modern hotel.
The hotel was perfect. It's very modern, rooms are decent sized compared to the average Japanese hotel room. It's located a few minutes walk from metro stations.
Enjoyed the stay and cleanliness. Staff were great helping me with things outside their scope. Only concern was having basement units where I could hear a lot of the chairs from the restaurant scealing
Loved our stay at this property! Will definitely be coming back to stay here again!
Staff were multilingual and had no problems speaking english.
Booked for parents, they enjoyed the stay. The breakfast offer was exceptional.
Great location for a great price. Very clean, modern. Highly recommend ! Would stay there again if I came back to Kyoto.
The room had a cool, unique layout with ample storage under the bed. Still has enough room for one suitcase to be opened, with the vanity and mini fridge. Toilet and shower were separate, nice facilities especially the bidet of course. Location is decent enough, not too far of a walk to the shopping streets and has plenty of transport options close by. Staff were super helpful and pleasant, helped us with booking the luggage courier to our next destination. Definitely recommend this place for your stay in Kyoto!
Great location
Stay was great, rooms are small but comfy and cozy. We were put in the basement level, wasn’t sure about liking that at first but it was fine in the end.
Great location, close to train lines and walking distance of many areas depending on how keen you are to work. The Thai restaurant on premises was also quite good. Room was smaller than what we’re used to but it definitely was functional and served our needs during our stay.
Good room and spot bad service
Nice room and location but terrible customer service from the staff.
Staff was nice!
Excellent budget choice!
Incredibly clean! This hotel was perfect for our home base for a week in Kyoto. Highly recommend and would stay here again!
Loved this clean, warm, well-appointed, reasonably priced hotel! Couldn't be happier with my stay! Yummy food too.
The room itself was a little small but the raised sleeping area allows for a much better use of space as you can put your suitcases underneath
Good area
Great place, very clean and conveniently located
Beautiful tiny rooms in the center of Kyoto.
Beautiful hotel with very comfortable rooms. Very clean with lots of high quality amenities.
I would get softer pillows
Beautiful hotel in a nice quiet area next to a temple, easily walkable to mass transit and shopping areas. Highly recommended
Great location, easy to navigate Kyoto from here!
Room was clean and the bed was so cozy. Spacious enough for one or two people. The shower was a little small and could be a snug fit for a bigger person. The breakfast choices were nothing to get excited about and probably the reason that I only ate in the dining area that one time. The hotel was a little walk from anywhere, at least 10-15 minutes, but the walk back in the evenings through the quiet one-way streets was always a pleasant one away from the hustle and bustle of the more touristy areas. I’m not sure if the hotel offers delivery service but Yamato is just a short walk away if you plan to forward your luggage. Overall, I had a great stay here and would definitely stay here again.
Nice compact rooms
Little rooms with a big bed and decent shower. Comfy bed and cute breakfast and bar setup
Very unique hotel. Staff incredibly helpful, rooms were superb, and location was amazing. Only negative was that in order to reach your rooms, you had to go through the lobby/restaurant area which at times could be quite busy.
Location: 10/10 It's less than 5 mins walk from the station. Staff: 10/10 Nice and friendly Room condition: 10/10 Room is small (twin beds) But due to the good design. there are space under the bed platform to slide the suitcase in. I love not seeing the suitcase in the room. The room layout, color scheme is very well design especially lighting design. There is no downlight in the ceiling, they use all indirect light decorative light which give a warm residential feeling to the room. I love the way of just one downlight in the shower to highlight the amenities shelve. that's lovely. Only one comment is not enough set down space to put cloth near to shower room. I have to walk outside the bathroom to get my cloth and walk bath to the bathroom. Should at least has 1 or 2 robe hooks inside the bathroom. Room is very sound sealed. Hardly hear any noise from the corridor. The room entrance door has a proper door closer and sound sealed The selection of hairdryer is very nice. Really go well with the room design. I love they way they pay attention to this little thing.
Staff was incredible!
Trendy stay in the heart of Kyoto. We loved the mix of traditional Japanese and modern aesthetics of this place. The lobby smelled amazing, a mix of room freshener and whatever was cooking up in the restaurant. Their breakfast is very good and convenient if you book the night before, only 1000yen. The rooms were very beautiful and beds comfortable. Our only qualm was the lack of storage for clothes. We were unable to unpack as there were no drawers. There is under the bed storage for bags which is handy and good for space. Another detail missed was there was no hanger for the hand towel in our room sink. A lil inconvenient but no problem.
Perfect
Super clean, great location about 25 minute walk to Kyoto station, wonderful friendly staff, and everything is so neat and well organized! Highly recommend this place!!
Such a lovely place to stay in Kyoto!
Great stay
It was a clean and beautiful hotel. Built only a year ago. However, the room was too small and a bit far from the major touristy areas. If that is not an issue for you and don’t mind walking fifteen minutes to the main area, it’ll be a wonderful stay. The staff are especially welcoming and friendly.
Updated modern hotel. About a 5 minute walk to the subway system. Walkable to Gion & market if you're an active person. Overall great stay, very clean rooms and great service.
Everything was excellent except I think they could have laundry ! Thank you everyone
The Asai Kyoto Shijo Hotel was without a doubt, my favorite hotel we stayed in during our trip to Japan. Absolutely lovely design, comfortable beds, and amazing water pressure in the shower. The neighborhood was convenient and walkable, with options for sights, food, and coffee nearby! I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and recommend to friends traveling to Kyoto.
The hotel was nice and clean, albeit a little small. My only gripe is that it is quite a bit of a walk to the station, shopping street and coin laundry. The staff was friendly and helpful.
The hotel is totally clean, modern, and sleek. The rooms are small, but perfectly suitable for us as a home base. The beds were comfortable, and we never heard another person or sound during the night. The location is great for accessing the subway, huge shopping districts, and quaint streets. The pet temple is one block away and a must visit!
The staff is amazing they helped us booking some reservations. The rooms were very clean.
The property was cleaned and tidy. The staff was welcoming and always smiling. We enjoyed our stay. The area is beautiful and the hotel location was convenient. I would personally go back to Asai hotel! Thank you so much for making our stay so great!
Wow!
One of the best hotels i’ve ever stayed at in my travels. Clean, extremely comfortable, friendly staff and impeccable service/ambience! Also loved the location, near the stations and all food!
Great Hotel in lovely location. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly and the rooms are wonderful. Fantastic I would highly recommend.
This is a really good hotel in an excellent area. We wish the rooms had more hooks to hang things on. It’s kind of tight in there and a few more places to hang clothes would be nice.
Lovely place and staff is so nice
Clean, comfortable room and friendly service in a convenient central location. Many breakfast options available in the hotel cafe (Western, Japanese, Thai). The walls and windows are thin so it can get noisy at times. We stayed on the 2nd floor, so perhaps a room on a higher floor would have been quieter. Other than that, everything was great.
Great location
Hip hotel in great location. We got the cozy twin and it sure was. The room was small. Our room was on the lower level so looked out to a wall and got no daylight in the room. But the amenities were nice, great pajamas.
Easy check in, staff are very helpful (and can speak a bit of English if necessary), room was very clean and matches the description. The location was very good for us (close to transit, many food options available, walking distance to nishiki market and other tourist attractions)
Nice hotel, cozy and good service. The stairs to get to the hotel make it difficult to handle the luggage. Should put a ramp!
We had a lovely stay at this hotel. Although the room is relatively small, we still find it cozy, comfortable, and very clean. The lounge is a nice place to hangout as well. We also appreciate that the hotel is proximal to the main area in Kyoto. It is very walkable. Only comment is that we wished that there were more breakfast menu options to choose from.
Reasonable price. Clean. Have a good restaurant on site.
Lovely staff. Great location. Fantastic room. Couldn’t ask for more.
The staff could improve their English but, besides that, everything was great!
I love this hotel!! Very clean, staff is friendly! Especially, Yuichi-san! He greets us every time we see him and helps us carry heavy suitcases. I feel welcomed by his smile and the service he provided.
My second time staying in here and it is amazing as usual. The staff were nice and friendly. I was allowed to store my luggage at 10am (a lot earlier than the check in time). The temple nearby is famous for its power to keep pets healthy.
ASAI Kyoto Shijo is one of the most beautiful hotels we've ever stayed at. It was spacious and clean! Aesthetics were on point. The location was close to the subway line and walking distance to the Nishiki Market. The only thing that was missing dyeing our stay was a microwave. It would be ideal to have a microwave in the room or throughout the hotel. Overall we had a lovely stay.
Love the modern aesthetic of the hotel, rooms were clean and comfortable. The food was delicious and the staff were super polite.
Convenient, quiet and safe
Fantastic location near dining, shopping and attractions and the staff could not be more friendly and helpful! A great place to stay when in Kyoto!
The stuff in the hotel are really friendly and helpful.
Really great & helpful staff, was an awesome experience for me
Memorable Treat
We really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel’s design, amenities, service and location - definitely top notch. Upon arrival, we chanced upon a geisha dance performance. It was almost done when we got to settle down, but management arranged for another one!! It was truly a memorable treat! This place is highly recommended!!
We really like this hotel - we stayed twice while in Kyoto. The room is smallish but well thought out - the beds are very comfortable. It is very quiet. We didn't eat here as there are plenty of places around but quite a few people ate at the hotel - it is Thai food. The hotel is close to several temples and several subway stations. It is a 14 minute walk to Nishiki market which is a fun place to eat and shop.
Loved the furnishings in the lobby and the room. Great use of space. Staff were lovely apart from the barman.. Liked the traditional platform bed and pyjamas. Sweet Happy New Year sign on the bed. Good location in a cool neighborhood - near lots of coffee shops and restaurants - felt like an authentic neighborhood. A temple right outside the door - Not far to the big famous market. Highly recommend.
the room layout is very interesting with a heavy dose of Japanese aesthetic. Although, it is very small and probably less than half the size of a comparable room in the US. The staff are very kind and helpful. I like the Thai restaurant downstairs. It is very hard to find a Thai place in Japan in general, so it is a very welcomed option to have in Kyoto.
It is very close to the train station. Staff are excellent and helpful. The area is safe and walkable to the restaurants. But they also have a restaurant (though we didn’t get a chance to dine). Check-out was 12noon which is really nice unlike other hotels where it’s 10am. The room we got was small but is typical of Japanese hotels.
One of the best hotel in town, amazing staff, great breakfast, super convenient location, room is small but you will have everything you need!
Extremely clean hotel. Nice bar and breakfast lounge also.
Everything was perfect
Very friendly staff , super clean and spacious rooms
The hotel was super clean and in a great location. Also like how the room was set up, smart use of space.
Nice place, friendly staff, bar tender very helpful
Staff were nice and helpful. Bed was comfortable and clean room
For my first visit to Kyoto, this was a great choice. Easily walkable from Kyoto Station. Cozy but comfortable with helpful and accommodating staff.
