Budget friendly, Perfect location!
I received a good service in terms of price-performance. Given how cheap it was, I should be fair about the quality and service, which is very important. They didn’t charge me for the six cups of coffee I had. It's budget-friendly and located very close to the heart of Istanbul, so I recommend it.
Paid for a king bed at the hotel, got a room with three smaller beds in a building behind the hotel. Came back on the third day to a guy in our room. The reception worker was nice, and the location was excellent. However, I also got mildly electrocuted in the shower.
The current state of property does not match photos on Expedia. It's in disrepair. The room I had was awful, AC was full of dust, sealant around bathtub was full of mould, pipe under bathroom sink was leaking, mattress was worn in the middle, I used my own blanket. WiFi just about worked when downstairs. Location is great for sightseeing but very noisy outside, you can hear everything, from people talking, to cars, to dogs marking. People are nice but it seems like they don't care much about the hotel or customers.
The hotel was older with all the little quirks of an older establishment. Our room was clean and comfy with a seating area and a coffee table. The air condioner worked great after a long day walking around. The location was awesome. 3 minute walk your are in the heart of old Istanbul without all the noise. The staff were helpful and very friendly all the time.
Unclean. Room was old, bits of furniture falling apart, visible of dirt and dust on tabletops and furnishings and the floors were visible of grubble and dirt. The hotel, room and bathroom smelt musty and unclean. Bathroom old, gross, MOULD present. Our room was located ground floor closest to the road and it was soooo very noise of vehicles driving pass, people chatting loudly in lobby/reception area, suitcases outside we can hear rolling along the uneven stone floor. Could not sleep at all. So would recommend to get room on higher floor or elsewhere. Price was cheaper than others, so you get what you pay for I guess
Fantastic holiday
Very helpful staff and a pleasant stay
The location is great but that's about it! The property is very old and needs a lot of repairs. The lady at reception is VERY LOUD! They don't consider the time and when people are sleeping. She would be yelling at 1am . We asked several times for our rooms tvs to be fixed but that never happened. I really wish I had read the reviews before booking. I would pay a bit more and get a better hotel.
The hotel is located in a decent neighborhood, not too far from Sultanahmet and all the tourist places. Breakfast was less than exciting and there was no room cleaning service for the 4 days I stayed. Not sure if I had to explicitly ask them for it. Overall, not bad for the price.
Nice staff
The worst hotel you can ever book. Please trust me and never book this hotel. This hotel stinks so bad, have mold and disgusting rooms. The restroom have the galley opening with no locks. No security at all .
You will be lucky if you got hot water for a shower. No heating in dining areas. Bath tubs need replacing. Very noisy at night in reception. If you did not ask for fresh towels, they would not be changed.
Good
Hi guys, Nice hotel, Good location, near blue Mosque and lots of restaurants and shopping area. Good value for money.
The room was not properly cleaned
Beware of deceitful pictures on their website!
This hotel is a complete mascarade! What you see on their website (which looks great and cozy), reality is "it is awefully filthy". The misleading 8.5 rating might have been correct when the hotel launched. Now I would not advise anyone (family, big or small) to go there. We took 2 rooms. One was assigned to us de facto and it was so bad that we decided then to go to another hotel (we had alread paid $1000). It had a terrible smell, a mix of cooking and unhealthy moisture. Unbearable! We demanded to change and we got another one and got bit by mosquitos every night, My kids got bit and kept scratching where it itched the whole day. We gave them some medicine. The shower was filthy. The picture shows an elevator. It does not function! (It was one of the criteria to select this hotel: grandma cannot take stairs.) We skipped all breakfasts because it was bare minimum, served on a plate ahead of time by someone, and in an obscure room in the open courtyard with 4 or 5 cats running all over. An unleashed black dog sits on the already dirty couches and - although harmless - scared my kids every now and then whenever popping from nowhere. The smoking area is right at the front door, thus letting all the smoke get in. We could smell tobacco smoke from the rooms on the same floor. The only positives that must be stated: a nice receptionist who apologetically changed the rooms for us twice, and the proximity to the sea shore at a walking distance from the hotel. True rating? Barely 2.
On arrival the rooms that we booked were not available, we were given different accommodation at nearby hotel, the accommodation was dirty, old furniture, mouldy bathroom, next day we got told we have to be moved again as the accommodation is booked, we were given another place a small apartment that was in worse condition then the first one, and we didn't have any saying on where they are moving us. we booked to rooms in Aruna hotel not moving every day in different accommodation, we chose Aruna hotel on the base of 4 stars, but our accommodation was not even 2 stars.
Amazing staff they were very helpful with everything including transportation, and Tours! Great location!
This is the worst hotel I have stayed in my entire life! Don't believe the pictures you see in the hotel listings. Those pictures must have been taken 10 years ago. The hotel is in an awful shape! The bathrooms are run-down. Showers have old mold and broken shelves. We stayed in a basement rooms with shower cabins lifted up in almost 70 centimeters from the floor and it was very difficult to get into and out of them. The bedding was awful. Some pillows had no pillow cases and had old yellow stains all over them. Some pillows were stuffed with some uneven lumps of something. When we moved in my blanket was still wet. Also my wife's blanket had some dead insects in them. The towels are so old that they had holes in them. Some towels were just torn in half to be smaller. At one point we asked a cleaning person to take out several trash bags with food in them, and that person just left them outside our room on the floor. The elevator that is prominently pictured in one of the photos does not work. The place has dogs running around in the cafeteria and at the entrance. One big not pleasantly looking dog just spreads itself on the welcome mat and sleeps and you have to make sure you don't step over it! On the positive side, the staff was friendly and was trying to help. But still the condition were horrible and we were so glad we finally checked out of that place!
we had the worst experience there, the hotel staff is not helping at all, They show their hotel 4 stars, but in reality it is not even 1 star. we had total 2 rooms 4 night booking, but after just 1 night we decided to leave this bad hotel. there are no curtains in the rooms so everyone from other building can see you. the fridge & TV not working. not recommended at all, don't trust the photos these are all lies.
good bed and breakfast. close to tourist location of visit
HAPPINESS
Great staff, friendly and hardworking, 👌👍😁Bravo
The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing Many restaurants and small markets withing 2_3 min walking.
not recommended
One of the worst
Was good and comfortable Definitely will stay next time as well. I recommend.
The hotel is reasonable for the amount, the staff is nice and ready to help, without any doubt the best thing about the hotel was the wonderful Lilia and the polite Ramazan
Wonderful!
Wonderful stay. Welcoming and homely
Upon our arrival we were greeted by Liyila and she was a true host. Always greeting with a smile and super helpful and knowledgable. The rest of the staff was amazing too. Food, place and staff were top notch and the Aruna Hotel is really close to all the major places to visit. Thank you!
Not good hotel at all
Bad, dirty hotel Do not recommend to anyone to book this Hotel everything is old and broken
Location
Ramzan&liliya thanks for everything...
Staff was lovely specially Ramzan and Liliya nice people, I enjoyed my stay a lot would be going back again for sure...
The room wasn't available the day we arrived, apparently a double booking. They booked us in a nearby hotel. next day only after 14h we could check in to our room. The location is very historic in the old part of the city, surrounded by old buildings of Ottoman era. The stuff were very friendly and the hotel is quite and clean.
It’s a very lovely place , amazing decor and very friendly stuff and the location is wonderful very near to public transportation
Amazing
Amazing hotel so friendly staff,,
Perfect
Aruna is one of the best hotels in Istanbul. The owners are extremely friendly and social, it really feels like home :) They are very flexible and willing to help with anything related to travel. Will definitely return some time soon :)
Hello brother Ramdan this Maed and I will see you again. Everything was perfect. I would recommend it to everyone very close to historical places and shopping places. Ramdan from the reception is very helpful and you can definitely ask anything you want to ask. I'll stay again when I come back to turkey hotels here, thank you for everything.
Good location and friendly staff
We had a lovely stay at Aruna. The staff are friendly and helpful. The location is central and handy, just a fews minutes of walking from Tram and seaside.
Warm and welcoming hotel
We really enjoyed our stay here! The staff is so friendly and welcoming. We are backpackers and have stayed at hundreds of hotels but only a few stand out because of their hospitality and this is one of them. Whatever we needed, they were always willing to help. Even helped us print some documents we needed for the airport. Great stay, we would definitely stay again!
Very bad hotel , I booked for 5days but I left hotel after one day becouse of bad services , not clean ,every thing not as advertised This hotel is only one star not four stars
The staff was freindly The hotel was clean
Great location - ideally central to Old Town Nice character property Room clean, beds comfortable Staff very obliging - Maintenance needed on certain areas (bath sealant/grout, intermittent aircon issues)
Great people, especially Umut very nice guy, breakfast is great better than some hotels than Ive been to in the past year.
Nice place!
All in all it was a pleasent experience in the hotel, the reception guy is polite, friendly and helpful, we got the Turkish style bathroom in the room which was nice touch, will stay again at the place
Not up to expectation
I read the past reviews but this is not a 4* hotel, rather a 3*: guest house. Staff are friendly and helpful, location is walking distance of the main attractions in Sultanhamet area. Unfortunately from my experience, being moved to a shabby room on the first night and then have to wait until 4pm to get the room I booked, I can not recommend this hotel.
Amazing
It us a Traditional Turkish Setup.Room is amazing.Hospitality one of the best in any hotels I have stayed.Umut the gentleman at the hotel is so helpful and friendly and always is willing to help.A great stay.I had a great nights sleep, in what were very comfortable beds. Clean and Tidy with fresh sheets and towels. Recommended
Cozy hotel with nice management
The management was very friendly and helpful. They went all out to make sure that we were comfortable and had a pleasant stay.
The best experience so far ! The hotel was super good for the price, the staff was so friendly and professionnal specially an employee called Umut he was so kind and professionnal and he made me feel like i am home ! Thanks guys thanks Umut, I will definilty come back !
Warm and Homely Feeling !!!
Had an excellent experience while staying at this hotel with the family. Will definitely stay again. All the staff is very helpful especially Omar. He goes above and beyond to ensure the comfort of the customers
Awesome hotel and staff! They have an amazing breakfast and management is extremely helpful and accommodating. You will received personal service not found at a large hotel. The showers are hot with strong pressure, which was very relaxing after a long flight. We will continue to come back to this hotel for all our future stays in Istanbul.
Really nice hotel
We had a few nice days at Aruna hotel. The staffs were really polite and helpful, especially Umut which was so friendly. Highly recommended.
Great place in the city center
This was probably one of my favorite places to stay in Istanbul. It's an older building so unlike the other hotels, the walls are not paper thin, and it had a more classic touch. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the places is located a short walk from some of the main attractions in the city center. I highly recommend this hotel!
No anything is really Room, cleanest, photo, staff ....
I loved the rooms, the cleanliness and warmth I felt once I arrived. The workers had exceptional customer service and they made me feel very welcome. Umut was the worker and he went to extreme lengths to make me feel welcome and he guided me around the city and landmarks. I would 100% advise everybody to come to this beautiful hotel.
Charming, with wonderful staff
Very clean and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. I loved the classic charm of the place and it was quiet compared to the other places we stayed.
The staff was great! thank you so much Umut and Fatih. The food was delicious, it is a small hotel very close to many of the beautiful things you must visit in Stanbul.
Location and We have not got TV, Fridge, cafe and teaspoons.
good service, eng speaking staff, helpful staff quite convenient location but hotels is quite old furniture and facilities bad sound proof that cant avoid noisy traffic from the road right next to hotel
The room was unbearably noisy, furniture was old, floor was full of dust, bathrooms were full of stain and towels were horribly old and torn not like posted pictures at all.
Nice property and close to old city. I would recommend to have some service for apartment.
Guy (umer) on reception was friendly amd helpful.
nice location , clean and comfortable
amazing hotel
Bad experience
- Booked two rooms - Towels were not changed for 6 days - Towels color are grey (originally white) - Had to request daily soap and shampoo because they were not provided - Bathrooms were not cleaned and bed sheets never changed. - Breakfast was the same for 6 days and if you reach breakfast 45 minutes after opening, you will find no food and they will tell you it is finished including bread. - Hotel location is good. - Tried once to go out of the hotel at 7 am and found the hotel main door is locked. After 20 minutes the person at the reception showed up from out side of the hotel and opened the door for us. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone.
I will remember this as one of the best hotels I have been in Istanbul. The location is super very near to the Blu Mosque. The room was lovely, clean, very traditional style and the bed was comfortable. Reception is 24 hours, very helpful and friendly. For breakfast there are so many choises and it was delicious. So happy I choose that hotel and cant wait to go again.
Nice Hotel, enjoy
It was lovely trip to Istanbul. Very friendly, nice hotel. The breakfast has many nice varieties and it is massive . The room is very clean and get cleaned every day. Very close to the centre of Istanbul and other attractions, .actually about 10-15 minute walk.
The best thing about Hotel Aruna is the location. The staff are nice and there is a good breakfast. Unfortunately, it is a little bit run down. In its prime this would have been a stunning 4 star hotel but it can no longer claim to be such. Our bathroom needed a really through cleaning and there were lights flickering throughout the whole building. Despite the staff being super friendly and helpful, anytime we saw them they were just watching tv on computer or the phone (this included quite loudly during breakfast in the dining room). I suggest they spend this free time on cleaning and fixing lights. However, despite these things our stay was ok and it was great being so close to the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. There are also some great cheap restaurants within walking distance.
This small hotel is in a prime location for sightseeing in Istanbul, being walking distance from museums, mosques and bazaars. Staff were polite and friendly. Stayed there mid June for 7 nights. It seems to be a hotel of 2 extremes. Although on the first day there were issues relating to toilet light, kettle, TV and hair dryer, the manager resolved everything within 24 hours. The furniture, fixtures and fittings were from the Ottoman style. Where they were adequately maintained they were striking. In many places, the finishing touch was not there. Our room was next door to the lounge. On Friday night, guests were there talking until 1:30am. The bed was comfortable. The range of provisions for breakfast was adequate and the dining room was of a good standard. As some reviews said, you get what you paid for.
Hotel stay
Great location, hotel a bit run down could do with some investment but the staff and people are grest
Good service from the front desk staffs
Great find in Sulthamet
Amazing location. Near all the great tourist spots bu quiet. Rooms are good. Ramazan and Emi were so helpful and kind. This is a great little find.
Such a nice place in the best location in Istanbul sultan Ahmad area and the staff are so friendly
Cheap and cheerful
You get what you pay for
A pleasant experience
The location of this property is okay. It's at the bottom of the hill in Sultanahmet, so each day is a little workout up the hill. But, it is also very close to the Bosphorus, so easy access to the walkway along the shore. (A bonus for runners.) The rooms in this hotel are huge. The decor is a little dated. But, the overall condition of the room was acceptable. The wifi was a little spotty and worked the best in the foyer. The breakfast was served in the basement; not on the roof as indicated. But, the breakfast was fantastic with much variety. The people that run this hotel are extremely helpful and accommodating. Overall, this was a very pleasant experience.
Good location, good service. It wasn't that clean but acceptable.
What i like is that i felt iam at home with friends and family the staff is wonderful they help whatever we need they are available 24 hours they help its near from down town at first you will feel its a small place but it just feel like home you feel safe i will never stay any hotel else if i am in Istanbul
Lovely hotel in great location!
A lovely little hotel in a nice area. Staff are very friendly, helpful and efficent! Great value for money! Unless you are dissabled you really could not ask for much more from this hotel and location! Being disabled i did find some things a little difficult but i really cannot complain about my stay! The staff are a real credit to the hotel!
Very nice stuff, I loved the style of the hotel , they tried to keep legacy ottoman style , makes you live the moment, I just hope the management keep mentaining it , as keep things together ( e,g basin taps is lose ) and the mattress definitely need to be changed. In summer it is nice to have the breakfast in the conman terrace
Very nice hotel and excellent location. Truly recommend!
Great location
Nice little hotel in a good location.
Very nice staff, disappointed about property and hotel stars
A few nights in Istanbul..
Great hotel with a homely atmosphere. The people working in the hotel were great and had great customer services. They were very helpful. The room and bathroom were both clean. Breakfast was good with a range of choices. I would recommend this hotel and I would stay here again.
It was ok but during my stay I think there was repairs going on in the hotel and the noise was too much to even stay indoor during the day. But the service was ok
Over rated
It was very underwhelming. Staff was friendly enough but the rooms were in need of some serious maintenance.
Cosy home from home
Bed and breakfast style hotel with traditional turkish decor. Room was cleaned daily and bed was cosy. Tasty Turkish breakfast. 5/10 minute pleasant up hill walk to the blue mosque area. Best of all.. the friendly staff who run this hotel, made us feel very welcome :)
Ahmed
Thank you so much It was clean and nice hotel
Up hill 15minute walk to Blue mosque. Breakfast poor. 3rd bed was camp bed and not proper single bed. But staff very helpful and friendly.
Excellent hotel next to Blue mosque
Nice hotel next to main attractions with excellent staff who are really helpful.
Amazing staff, clean hotel/room, would love to recommend this hotel.
The staff are so nice and helpful Orxan at front desk are so helpful I like The location and the old style of hotel The roof terrace was under renovation but would be nice once it is open
The property is clean and homie and the staff excellent Mr Orhan and Mr omut treated us like kings serving us at every turn giving every information needed to see all sites breakfast was great always on time let’s not forget mr Ramazan that received us with a great smile .I would recommend this beautiful cozy hotel and also a nice stop every night on the way back from long visits to the little shop next door of Mr Jamal bey funny funny man he sells ice cream chips drinks etc.
We booked two double connecting rooms with two king beds, but they gave us a family room that was very small. They moved us to another hotel after two nights and got the two connecting rooms with nice ocean view. Everything else was fine. Breakfast is nice. The service was very good and they always offered us drinks.
Vèry nice
It was nice travel experience.the hotel was not far from the centre and near most of the main attractions.
The room absolutely rubbish & NEVER recommend
We booked a triple bed room 2 beds were proper bed but the one was a guest bed and the mattress was absolutely rubbish could feel the springs and was worried the bed will break through. There were flies in room. This is not a 4 star hotel i call it a 2 star hotel. The room was not cleaned once in the 7 days we stayed there. This is NOT a non smoking hotel which was a total lie on the website when I booked it. My mum got ill as a result of smoke and lack of cleanliness. The breakfast was not good and always cold and a lot of flies. Website also said there was a spa and sauna but what a lie !! The only thing they did daily was empty the bins. Towels were ripped & bedding was smelly.
Had really good experience at this hotel, lovely breakfast and staff are absolutely amazing!
High Quality Hotel
A trip to the Old City. The coast, tourist sights and shops all moments away and furthermore, the staff are all friendly, with there always being someone to help at reception. To top it off, the cost to service ratio is great, especially with free breakfast and WiFi.
The hotel is centrally located in Sultanahmet and 5 mins walk from most of the sightseeing locations such as hagia sophia, blue mosque and topkapi palace. Hotel staff are the friendliest I have seen and the breakfast spread serves both the english ane local turkish pallete. All in all a very pleasant hotel
Great location near all the main sights of old Istanbul. Lots of restaurants nearby. Staff were very friendly and helpful. They recommended good places to eat and booked a tour for us. I am a very light sleeper and found the room we were first given a little noisy from the road, but the hotel moved us immediately and solved the problem.
Helpful staff, nice hotel.
Very convenient location, nice staff, and good breakfast. We stayed in double twin room and it was perfect for our needs. The location is what did it for us but also the hotel is very nice itself, the room itself was well furnished and very aesthetic.
Amazing
Hotel is central to everything Staff amazing Free breakky and brilliant wifi Clean rooms Everything you could ask for at the cheap price
Great location. Nice hotel. Helpful staff. Good breakfast. Will definitely stay again.
Clean, cool hotel close to all amenities
We arrived about 4 hours too early for check in and the friendly staff accommodated us and made a room available for us...This fabulous attitude and great service continued for the duration of our stay and made us feel very at home. The breakfast offered a great variety of fresh delicious food in a lovely environment. The hotel was clean, well maintained, tastefully decorated and had a great aircon. It is also ideally located as it is no more than a 10 min walk from all the attractions. I visit Istanbul at least once a year and have now found 'my home' in Istanbul... I will not stay anywhere else in Istanbul, the Aruna hotel is fantastic
Parking is offered in a lot a short distance from hotel. Staff if bilingual, helpful and very friendly. This is my go to spot when staying in Istanbul. Great little place !!!
