We had a wonderful stay at the hotel! The staff were so welcoming when checking us in and always welling to help. The room was new and clean! We loved the breakfast. A lot of good Taiwanese options. They also offered free afternoon tea and midnight snack. The hotel was within 5 minutes walking distance to night market. Highly recommend!

Great stay - worth it

Very nice stay in the suite with a delicious breakfast. Unfortunately the earthquake cut our stay short, but they were so accommodating and made sure we were taken care of. What a terrifying thing for the staff to navigate - they were wonderful. I fear the hotel had significant damage and hope they will be able to reopen.

Great location with walking distance to the night market and beach. We enjoyed the breakfast. There were a lot of options and it was really great. Kids commented it's one of the best. Also really appreciated that hotel provided the biking service, we had opportunity to bike around. that was nice too. Wish they could tell us that they do provide shuttle service to train station but need lead time.

The hotel has exceeded my expectations. It is clean, well maintained and has a good spread of breakfast. It is also very accessible to the night market. Highly recommended. I'll choose this hotel again if i come to Hualien.

Handy location, friendly staff, fantastic breakfast. The property is getting run down inside, carpets all need replacing as they are a bit smelly, and there is mould on the bathroom ceiling coming through.

Air condition control is not user friendly.

Arsma was one of 6 hotels we booked for this trip, and so far everyone loved Arsma the most, wondering why didn't we stay with them for longer. Check in was swift, and the team was very hospitable The rooms were large and comfortable with all necessary amendments, water pressure to the shower was amazing (perfect for after a long day walking in Tarokko). Breakfast was wonderful as well with lots of local food to try, for coffee drinkers, they provide 2 kinds of coffee - brewed coffee and a pretty decent coffee machine. The supper provided comes in take away container where each room is given 2 vouchers - 1 voucher is entitled for 1 item. I'd say the supper was not for everyone tho I enjoyed it. Didn't manage to check out their other facilities so won't comment on those. All-in-all, Arsma is a great place to stay with reasonable charges. Will recommend and return to this property every time I'm at Hualien.

The closet in my room smelled as if a dog had relieved itself - pretty awful, I left several days early despite pre-pay. The whole room was dark and smelly, dirty/old carpet, old drapes.

雖然有點年代的飯店, 但在設備及環境的維護還是有一定的水準. 早餐部分某些品項也是在其他飯店沒有看過的. 已經列入口袋名單中. 有點美中不足的是房間或是樓層間的味道, 不知道是用的清潔劑還是芳香劑問題? 孩子及我都覺得很像當年去長照機構探視家人時的味道.

Hualien is basically a sleepy town with not much to offer. The night market , near the hotel is well represented with food stalls and vendors. Taroko Gorge which we wanted to visit was about 50 minutes away. Arsma Hotel served our itinary well. Breakfast was decent and rooms were clean. Staff was helpful and polite.

Hualien stay

The hotel was very nice. I think the only negative was that the room smelled like stale cigarette smoke when I first entered. It was a nice room with a view of the ocean. The staff was very kind and helpful. The breakfast buffet was good. It said it had a gym, but it was only 5 or 6 aroebic machines, no weights to workout. Please don’t call this a gym. The location was good. There is a night market within 5 minutes and several other great sites. It is close to some good restaurants as well.

Hotel is good but during our stay (just after the annual 5 day holiday), it was rather quiet. They served breakfast but not doing lunch or dinner. However there are lot of eating places nearby.

Our room and bahroom were Huge! Fiod scene a little dull in hualien city, the night mkt and steamed dumplings being the most happening in the vicinity. Hotel staff not Very well informed ~ recommended one eatery and one cultural attraction that were closed when we went there (ie, staff were not knowledgeable about the opening hours)..

15min shuttle from the hualien train station. Hotel is located centrally so can walk to the night market as well as do street shopping nearby. The room is spacious and clean. Buffet breakfast is sumptuous too!

Breakfast is good with variety but the food was cold on our second day despite the breakfast time was just started half an hour ago. The rest of the days breakfast was served hot. Although the cost is relative high compared with other hotels in Hualien, it is value for money. The hotel facilities, environment, breakfast, shampoo, location are worth of it. During the 5 days stay there, the feeling is good.

Good Hotel/Well Situated

This hotel is a good choice for a stay in Hualien. Our room was clean and well-appointed. The breakfast buffet was quite good in the downstairs restaurant. The staff was attentive, courteous and helpful in getting us checked in as well as to the local airport when it was time to leave. The hotel is located a few blocks -- and an easy walk -- from Hualien's largest night market, which is a fun attraction even for those not wanting to buy the foods and wares for sale.

Lovely hotel

Room was unfortunately dirty (food on ceiling, smoke smell) but we were immediately given a clean room. Will definitely stay again when in hualien. Excellent location. Safe. English staff.

Great hotel

This is a great hotel. The staff was wonderful; room on the 9th floor looked out toward ocean. Easy parking. Comfortable room/bed. Amazing shower. This is a great place central to the Hualien area; easy to get to Tarako Gorge for a visit.

Lovely breakfast selection

Woke up to a great sunrise and a lovely breakfast buffet which was different over the 2 days we were there. Just next to the shopping and dining streets. Loved the rainbow night market. Excellent hotel in a great location.

Convenient and clean hotel.

Very very nice hotel with first-class, friendly staff. Our friends booked it for us, we weren't so enthusiastic about the price and would have been happy in a cheaper, simpler place. But the breakfast was amazing, and the staff helped us complete our travel arrangements. Try Open Sesame down Bao'i street for amazing vegetarian food.

Situated in a quiet part of town, comfortable beds for a good night's sleep, 5 minute walk to night markets and shopping area if you need to shop, staff very friendly and able to give information in English which helps us a lot.

From being picked up from the train to every aspect of our stay the staff were really amazing and helpful.the hotel is new and our room had a beautiful view across the rooftops to mountains and beach,awesome room! Nice and comfortable stay

Booked 2 rooms for 7 pax (2 double beds). Rooms are new, clean and comfortable. Location is good, 5 mins walk to the city. All the hotel staff are courteous and friendly. Breakfast is okay. The only minus is that there is no place to put our shampoo in the shower area, have to put them on the floor.

Comfortable and pleasant stay at the hotel. Room was spacious. Had everything we need including a state of the art remote control toilet bowl. You have to see it to believe it. Staff was warm and helpful. Couldn't ask for more.

Fantastic hotel! Breakfast had a great mix of western and Taiwanese cuisine, and the rooms were spacious and very clean. Location was great - close to the beach, small night market, and city center. Service was top notch with an attentive and helpful front desk.

OK hotel for a stopover in Hualien

It was a convenient stop in Hualien between Taroko Park and Taipei. The location is central in Hualien and the rooms are spacious. However the breakfast is not very good.

Good choice for Hualien.

I expected to have a bathtub but there was none. Good hot shower pressure. Hotel is either new or newly-renovated. Location is on a side street but only 1 or 2 blocks from the downtown area. Lobby is huge and impressive. Free wifi and buffet breakfast. Breakfast was a little bland although there was a good selection. Room was a good size, comfortable and beds afforded a good sleep. Overall, a good choice.

Stayed for one night. Room is clean and comfortable. Hotel is close to downtown, convent for dining and shopping. Asked the staff for tour information, they are very friendly and helpful. I'll stay in Arsma again if I come back to Hualia in the future.

Good stay in Hualien

The room is big and comfortable. It is located in the heart of the city centre where you can easily find a lot of local delicacies. Also you can reach the market and seaside within 20 minutes walk. However the views from hotel is not very nice.

Superb hospitality-prior to arrival til departure

First of all, the room is carpeted, which is great for cold weather. The toilet is clean and nice, with heated toilet seat and washing facilities (Japanese style toilet bowl). The location is great beacuse it's located right in the city, with all the famous Hualien food all around. Tried the famous Gong Zheng bao zi and various bian shi, and also lots of Hualien goodies to bring back home. Last but not least, the staff is the true gem of the hotel. Every single staff I met was cheery and helpful. Prior to arrival, Jasper helped to see to all my queries and helped me to arrange for a room of my choice. Upon arrival, check in was very prompt and the staff welcomed us in the lounge with drinks and taking luggage to our room while we rested. An envelope with all the essential tour and eating places info and maps were provided for us. The next morning, I had to catch an early train and the staff packed breakfast for me on the go and called a taxi for me. Great service and nothing to fault. Will stay here again next time I go to Hualien. Highly recommended.

great location, but can improve in overall service

I like the location very close to all the great eats but it is some distance away from the train station. Understand that I need to book one day before for the free pick up. I only emailed at 2am and arrived at the station around 11am. Used a public phone to call the hotel to try my luck but the receptionist insisted that I need to let them know one day before. I understand but I wished she can show more patience and probably help me with something. I am quite surprised as Taiwaneses are well known from their great service. Other than that, I was alright with the hotel.

A recommended stay in Hualien

Overall the hotel was nice and comfortable. The room reminded us of a hotel room decorated in the '80s, but it was clean, not new, but clean, and comfortable. The closet had a bit of a shoe odor in it, and there were no wash clothes present (just hand towels and bath towels), but the bed was comfortable, the shower was powerful, and the toilet was top of the line. The hotel may look like it's in a less than friendly area, but all of the side streets have that appearance. Good food and shopping well within walking distance, including a great local oyster omelette place. The breakfast buffet has mostly asian items, but there are numerous choices and they were all pretty good. The front desk is very helpful in telling you what there is to do in the area and they spoke English well.

Location: Situated in the middle of Hualien city in close proximity to the Golden Triangle of shops and restaurants that come alive at night. Quiet area. Less than an hour driving time to reach Toroko Gorge. Service: Free shuttle pick-up and drop-off to the train station. When their in-house driver was late for our pre-arranged drop-off to the station, they paid for a taxi themselves to take us to the station! They also helped arrange us with an excellent and knowledgeable driver for a private tour of Toroko Gorge for 8 hours, which was preferable to going in a large tour group or taking the public bus. Excellent English-speaking service. Amenities: Large, comfortable room with Japanese-style toilet that I had no idea how to use. Free wi-fi. Included breakfast is serviceable Chinese food that helps fuel you for the day.

very good experience. Hotel staff pick us up at the train station on schedule upon train arrival. Local tours were arranged without hassel. Drop off back at the train station which was very convenient for us to make the whole experience enjoyable.

Excellent hotel, superb staff

We stayed for two nights at the Arsma hotel and were instantly impressed at the hotel and the hotel staff. Jasper spoke perfect english and was fantastic in helping us with local knowledge and finding places to visit and eat. He even arranged a lift to the train station to book our trip to Taroko gorge. The driver who took us was also superb and helped us buy our tickets. The room was excellent and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. This should be given five stars. If we are ever in Hualien again we will definitely stay here
