Close to station and shopping. Lots to do around. Great experience!
Enjoying a great stay at APA
It was great!
We always stay at APA Hotel when we are in Tokyo.
Had a lovely week stay here. Just a short walk from metro station. Has multiple restaurants, convenience stores, and pharmacies close by.
Fairly simple—small rooms but clean and sufficient for sleeping. The spa was a nice touch.
I like the location. It is very near to the station. It is in convenient area with lots of shopping. I like the older shops. The staff is also very nice.
This is my 2nd time staying in this hotel with my family. The hotel is near to the JR Yamanote line 5mins walk. I like the area is it is very local there is a shopping Street and lots of small local shops selling a variety of things.
Staff is helpful.
Very clean, very nice customer service. Jr and subway is under 5 min walking distance. No complaints!
Nice clean room near station
Nice rooms, good location an onsen in building made for a pleasant stay. Rooms are small, which is mormal for Tokyo. Good size TV, bathroom a little cramped but functional.
Very convenient.
The green metro line is efficient and you can be at popular spots in 20-30minutes.
This hotel room and the bathroom is really small, super compact and hard to move around in the bathroom, can't fit much luggage in the room, staff are always replacing towels, cleaning your room, etc so I loved that. Staff wasn't so helpful when I was checking out. Staring and helping everyone else while I stood and waited with 4 suitcases but didn't reach out to help me at all until I finally lost my patience and got upset asking for assistance. Pros is that hotel is located in the midst of everything, 7-11, family mart and all restaurants are super close so I really loved the convenience of it and the train stations as well. Super easy to get around staying here and finding different spots to eat in the area.
Amazing location and staff. The hotel was only a 2 minute walk away from the station, where you can easily take the Yamanote line to go to other areas of Tokyo. The area around the hotel is very walkable as well, with food places and things to see and do. My one issue with the hotel is that there is no individual A/C in rooms. Many locals and businessmen staying in the hotel prefer warm temperatures, but as a Canadian the room was rather hot for me, even in a t-shirt and shorts. Other than that, the trip was very pleasant and I really enjoyed my stay here.
Small but useful
Don't let the small size of the room turn you away. The rooms have everything you want in a hotel room. Clean, tidy, and comfortable.
Location very good Room was way too small
Amazing stay
APA is always my go to, and this one I love because of the onsen upstairs. Too bad the room doesn’t have storage space under the bed. Other wise it would have been perfect. Location’s good and in a quiet area.
Great and kind staff! Had a problem with the Wi-Fi and they were able to resolve it in a quick and orderly manner!
The staff helped me and my children. I will never forget your kindness to me. Thank you for keeping us safe
Great staff and service!
The rooms were very clean
We often stay here.
My stay at APA Hotel Sugamo exceeded my expectations. The combination of comfortable accommodations and convenient location made for a memorable trip.
They were very clean. I liked that they gave the option for cleaning, meaning I can choose if I want extra days of cleaning, and they always left towels and extra toothbrushes.
This hotel is accessible to convenience.Located just a stone's throw away from local shops, cafes, and essential services, you'll find anything you want right at your fingertips. The staffs were also exceptionally friendly and helpful, most can speak English.
Loved
Very clean, great staff, although typically small room, it had all the amenities cleverly put to maximize space.
Front desk staff is very helpful and Kind always smiling Great hospitality Same with housekeeping This is my home hotel when I’m in Japan
I had a fantastic time staying in this hotel during my first visit to Japan. Very clean, safe and located a few minutes walk from well-connected Sugamo station. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful throughout.
Traffic convenience
Whenever I visit Tokyo, I stay at this location. It is conveniently located by 2 train stations. It takes only a few minutes to Ikebukuro, Shinjuku, Tokyo Dome, and Ueno. They have a nice Onsen bath on the top floor, so you can use it to relax for free. I recommend this hotel.
A hotel with an excellent location, Sugamo station is very close. You can leave a suitcase for me and after. They don't give the room to me for 15.00, even if you arrive at 2.45 pm. The hotel is clean. There is a free spa on the 14th floor
Apart from getting a smoking room, it was my fault, i thought i had booked a non smoking, the stay was great.
I like the location
Hotel with good conditions
A normal hotel
Convenient location close to subway, clean room
The hotel was fine, but there were a couple things about it that didn't suit me and will keep me from coming back: (1) the outlets were inconveniently-placed and (2) I couldn't get to the HDMI input on the TV, so I couldn't plug in my Switch. Aside from that, the fact that the room was apparently the left-handed version of the right-handed rooms I'd stayed in at other APA hotels kinda threw me (although I quickly got used to it -- but the bathroom was on the left side of the entryway, the bathroom had its shower on the left, the bed was on the left of the entryway, etc.). On the up-side, there was a nice Mcdonalds just across the street from the hotel (with self-ordering and table service) and a Family Mart just a few doors down from there. And the Mita Line entrance to the Sugamo station was, what, 30 meters from the hotel entrance? If those are conveniences you're looking for, then this hotel offers them.
I really enjoyed my stay
APA has never failed to impress. Rooms are very small compared to hotel rooms in other countries that I’ve been too, however very very cleaned and well designed and I got everything that I needed. Will always be my first choice whenever I visit Japan.
I love the big bath on the top floor, and their hours of operation is just perfect.
Clean and great service
Extremely clean and staff was attentive. Amazing location.
Area is very convenient for subway. For hotel itself, the hallway in the morning is very dirty, bags everywhere
Great staff. I accidentally booked a smoking room and they let us move to a non smoking floor for our 4 day stay. The smoking rooms are really strong it was unbearable. Area is okay I like the market that was located across the street to buy goodies. Train station located near the hotel. The rooms are extremely hot even with the mini AC system in the room. English movies available to watch on the TV pretty nice but limited
loved it
很方便,离地铁站很近,环境也很好,很安全
Great Hotel with good hospitality from staff.
The property was nice enough but very small, the bed was tilted from people sitting on it and it was not high enough to put luggage under it, so the cramped room became even smaller. Also the AC was set to heat while it said to keep the bathroom door open while showering. This caused the room to become a swamp and hard to sleep in, the front desk told us we were not Allowed to put the air conditioning on
This is my second time staying at this hotel. Location is good, very closed to the Sugamo Station on foot, and Ikebukuro and Shikoku by train. The rooms are very small, okay size for one person, but not for two.
It's very clean and accommodating. It's my first siginificant trip to Japan but I don't think I'll stay at an APA hotel again as the rooms are very small. My wife and I were just too squished in the room. But if you don't mind a cramped space the place was clean, safe, and affordable to my mind. But once you opened a suitcase on the floor (there are no dressers or closets to speak of) there is no space to maneuver.
It is the center of Ikebukuro, Tokyo. The train station is nearby, cute little shops, and convenient stores. The only issue I had was the airflow. Although, it had AC control, it felt stuffy and humid
Typical APA Hotel Stay but worse
I had a 2 twin bed room stay and for this particular room, it didn't have luggage storage under the bed and it made it extremely hard to store our luggage in a small confined room. Everything else was the same but the room layout was really small and not having that luggage storage under the bed killed it for us.
This was a great hotel. It was beautiful, comfortable and the staff were great. Tell the staff to keep doing their best!
I always stay here when i visit Tokyo
Great stay. Everything was clean and in order. I enjoyed the onsen. They offer tattoo covers at the front desk. It is just off of Sugamo on the Yamanote and is in a quiet area.
Amazing
Stains on the walls. Shower curtain stinks.
Hot spring is quite nice.
Very convenient to public transport, and lots of dining options around. Staff are very efficient. Rooms and facilities are very neat. I just hope APA hotels and resorts will allow guests with tattoos to use public bath in the future.
Love this place. Stay every year when visiting family. Inexpensive, quiet and close to transportation, shops and restaurants. Rooms are small however, so I always book a double for some extra space. Rooms are cleaned every day unlike the US hotels and they do a great job. Rooms are full of amenities and the WiFi is great.
Good location
Artificial hot spa is quite nice
The stuff very helpful and kindness
The hotel located in a convenient area but the room is really small.
Location is great.
The price is good.
Staff was soooo nice lived it here
Perfectly located next to Sugamo station on the Yamanote line which is ideal for all sorts of day trips around Tokyo. Located close to convenience stores and other shops.
Smaller size room as is the norm in japan, however were still spacious and comfortable enough for 1-2 people. Desk drawer wouldn’t close which was a small annoyance. Bathrooms had a damp smell to them (several of us stayed here and issue was the same in each room). Aircon is centrally controlled and cannot be altered which meant for us the rooms were quite hot, particularly ones which caught the morning or afternoon sun. Limited in room amenities (take away coffee cups and only one sachet of coffee and tea), although bathroom amenities were plentiful. Lower floors to the front of the hotel will unfortunately be able to hear road noise. On site sento (public bath) was very nice. Location is very convenient to all transport, shops, restaurants. Cleanliness could not be faulted. Laundry facilities for a fee although the heat pump driers didn’t work that well and still needed to be air dried on hangers in the room. Overall it was good, not great. It is very reasonable for a budget hotel on the popular and central Yamamoto line.
We choose APA hotels while in Tokyo as they are often near rai lstations, are very affordable, but are consistently clean and efficient. Be perpared for small rooms, but that is part of the experience. We muse that if there are accomodations on space stations, APA will design them. Great spa on the top floor. We chose Sugamo as it is on the main Yamanote line but not one of the expensive neighborhoods. A decent slection fo foood and shopping nearby, but only a few stosp from the main city centers, like Ikebukaro.
This property had the best location. It was surrounded by reasonable shopping stores.
Reasonable stay and location
Easy access and new hotel. Room is still a bit small. Spa service is really good in cold weather.
Super affordable hotel with excellent onsen
This hotel was recommended by friends who were also on vacation with me and my husband. There were a total of 4 of us each in 2 separate rooms which I' only review on our hotel room. APA Hotel is a very large chain of business hotels of which this one is located in Sugamo in Toshima City. It's just one block away from the JR Yamanote and the Mita Subway Line is just right in front. JR Sugamo Station also has arte vie Sugamo which has 4 levels of shops, restaurants supermarket and bakeries. Lots of other restaurants, bars and stores are in the surrounding area. I've noticed that APA Hotels are very close to train stations and centrally located to the city centers. There is only one restaurant next to the hotel lobby which none of us visited. There is no Fitness Club. But there is a Spa Onsen on 14F with separate areas for both Men and Women. Me and our traveling friends found ourselves going in the evening after a long day of walking, sightseeing, for night time relaxing. Hotel is very safe and secure. Elevator needs your hotel room key to activate. CCTV is also present all around the hotel grounds. Rooms are very small Japanese style rooms which includes either a twin or double bed(s). Like all Asian Hotels, toiletries and Yukata are included in the bathroom. No In-room safe, but the front desk has a safety deposit box. Self-service laundry room with trouser press is near the elevators on floors 3, 4, 9 & 10.
Close to the station and convenience stores and supermarkets.
Hotel rooms were cleaned properly. Bathroom was clean. The carpet in the hotel corridors were stained and looked dirty. Staff were well groomed and provided excellent service
Bathroom was not the cleanest when arrived and tap was weird but overall a great stay so thank you
Great property rooms are a little small but very comfortable. Great area near train station, McDonald's, 711, and various food choices all in walking distance. Enjoyed my stay here.
good location with a subway station and JR station within a short walk. I had issues with the fridge which stopped working 2 days into my stay. sento is a must and a good feature of this location with indoor and outdoor baths.
One of the nicest hotels I have stayed in for a short trip. Close to everything. Staff was friendly and very helpful. I highly recommend this hotel.
Great place to stay for business travellers
This hotel is located only 15min away from centre of Tokyo. The facility is relatively new and clean.Although the room is not spacious by any standard, I could managed to do some work and conference calls in there. Recommend for business travellers.
Everything is good
Too small space the room.
I lover this place. The only down side is that the rooms are small. I book a double room to give me more space. There is no closet or drawers, so unpacking is a challenge. Other than that, all the conveniences you can imagine are available in the room, and being mid-summer, the a/c works very well. Location is perfect. Close to both train and subway, and plenty of food options in the area, including Seiyu department store that has a good supermarket on the bottom floor. They clean the room daily and do a great job. On this stay I was on the 13th floor, and it was very quiet. The road noise is minimal. Staff at the front are helpful and always available. Room price is more than reasonable given the economic environment we are in these days.
The location of this hotel is close to places that are tourists-friendly.
Hotel in a good location. Small rooms can be managed. Clean hotel. 5 minutes walk from Sugmo station. First exit turn right at the traffic lights
Great hotel right by Sugamo station. Loved the bath and breakfast and the comfortable bed. This was my second stay here and I would stay here again.
The interior color scheme (black, white, silver) was modern and to my taste. The guest room was clean and contemporary. The chandelier in the main floor entrance added a sense of little luxury. The front desk staff are trained very well, courteous, knowledgeable, and efficient. I stayed 2 nights 3 days. The cleaning crew did not supply any nightwear (or a bath robe) after cleaning my room on Day 2. Unlike Toyoko-Inn, there was no complimentary small-pack lady's lotion as amenity. I would have really appreciate it if such an amenity was provided. Overall, I liked staying at the APA Hotel. I would stay there again.
Close to station is great! But staff need to know how to welcome people
Great value, clean room, public transportation nearby, quiet
The room is way tooooo small, and the front desk staff needs to be friendlier
The location of the hotel is my favorite part because the train station is 1.5 block away (3 minute walk approximately). There are a lot of convenient stores around and plenty of restaurants to choose from. The hotel itself and the staff were great as well as the amenities. The public baths were amazing and super clean. The rooms, although small, they have everything you need and more. The only recommendation I would give is to have more staff that speaks English because communicating could be a little tough, other than that im really happy I choose this hotel and I would totally come back
Air conditioning is not adjustable, too hot to not able to sleep.
Room was nice* - came for the hot baths
Stayed for 3 weeks - close to the Station and easy to get around to Ikebukuro. And any of the major stops on the JY line for Tokyo. Had a bit of trouble with communication as a solo traveler, even with practice and translation apps. But the front desk staff were always nice. The big drawback was the cleaning staff. It was always loud and messy in the morning from 8am to noon. So hard to do any work meetings in the morning, or sleep in. They also don't stick to the cleaning schedule. They would leave a note on my door almost every other day telling me they need to come in and clean, even though the note + new standards say every 3-4 days. So having to vacate fairly often, and they would not be nice about it - was not great. Also the hallways were always crowded with all of their supplies, and trash. A lot of it was right in front of my door. Other hotels they coordinate with you for cleaning, set a schedule - and just leave a note the day before. Here the schedule was random, and even though I would vacate some days to let them clean. They'd often leave another note the very next day telling me they need to clean again. They are also not very eco friendly. They seem to waste a lot of towels and giving out 2 a day. And there's not a lot of space to put them in the room, or a return anywhere. There were a couple of incidents involving the Police and some drunkeness during the evening on the street, so it did not feel safe for solo female, sometimes.
This is our first choice when we visit Tokyo!
Hotel location is conveniently located near JR. Room is small for two luggages. Overall it is good for short stay. Hotel staff are friendly.
Clean room close to the station.
Clean but small room. Convenient to the JR station McDonald across the street Like the local japanses traditional coffee shop (伯爵)nearby
Close to both JR and Subway stations (2 min. walk). The public bath is nice. A big three floors supermarket (Seiyu) is only 5 min walk away. The room is a bit small - was having a hard time opening up my 66L (medium) suitcase
The check in process is soo difficult. None of the staff help to do the check in process .
