Lots of charm and lovely staff
A first-rate hotel in a lovely part of Singapore.
A really lovely hotel in one of my favourite parts of Singapore. Very friendly, helpful and pleasant staff providing for a very personal and comfortable experience.
It was close to Maxwell
Wonderful place to stay.
Staff were friendly, helpful with great amenities. Room size were great and comfortable.
Beautifully restored heritage property in Chinatown area. Staff were friendly and attentive. Good sized room with good amenities and very comfortable. Although there was no restaurant or cafe in the hotel as such, there was a nice guest lobby area with many snacks available, as well as tea, coffee, soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages. Short walk into Chinatown area. Enjoyed the stay, and would definitely recommend this hotel to others.
I had a great experience at this hotel during my brief stay after a business trip to Australia and New Zealand. The staff were welcoming and efficient, even greeting me by name when I arrived late at night. Throughout my stay, they continued to be friendly and helpful. The hotel offered many thoughtful amenities, from a spacious room with a very comfortable bed to unlimited snacks in the lobby and a nightly happy hour. These little touches made the stay enjoyable.
Lovely quality boutique hotel.
Fantastic hotel. Great sized bed and large room - deluxe. We missed the Happy-Hour 'free flowing wine' unfortunately, but the free coffee and snacks are on the ground floor was great. Staff and service excellent. Great sized bathroom and toilet. Slightly surprised at no in-room telephone when we needed to ask for additional toilet rolls (apparently use your own mobile), but went down stairs and resolved quickly and efficiently. Lovely quality boutique hotel - and different. Immediately close to Club Street and some nice restaurants. One accommodated us at short notice and without a booking. Had a great evening.
Wonderful stay!!
Great experience at the Ann Siang house! We really enjoyed the free snack bar and happy hour as well as the hospitality of the staff. Only thing that was a bit annoying was the random steps to go down...and then up to our room. Otherwise, a wonderful stay!
Walkable and the coffee and snacks
I love this hotel. The room was spacious . The staff is very nice and attentive. The location is super close to maxwell food court too!
Nice design, friendly staff and excellent location
Clean hotel with character
We loved this hotel. The service was very friendly and we appreciated the snacks and drinks downstairs in the lobby. It is situated in a wonderful neighborhood in Singapore within walking distance to lots of restaurants and cafes. We would definitely stay here again.
Out of the 13 hotels I stayed in while in Southeast Asia, this was the ONLY hotel that did not provide a robe in the room. I arrived soaking wet after an afternoon downpour that soaked even the contents of my suitcase, and had to dry all my clothes (they do have a laundry facility), and had nothing to wear while I waited. I asked at the front desk and was told they didn't have any robes. A bit disappointing. This hotel looks and sounds better than it is. The location is great.
We enjoyed the hospitality of the staff.
The Ann Siang House is located very close to China Town. There isn't a restaurant in the hotel, but the Maxwell hawker center is just a block away and has any kind of food you would ever want. There are also several restaurants near-by. A metro stop is only a five-minute walk. The staff at the hotel is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are large and very clean. The 24-hour snacks, coffee, and sodas they have in the lobby are a welcome treat. If you arrive before check-in time, the staff will hold your suitcases for you. I definitely recommend this hotel.
Unique heritage hotel, great area, friendly helpful staff
Fantastic customer service in a very central and convenient location. The room is comfortable and modern. Would definitely recommend
One night Great location to walk thru China Town
Woman run boutique hotel. Great location in heart of old Chinatown. Can easily walk to eat or shop. Snacks/dinks available 24hrs.
A lovely little hotel in an excellent location with great staff
A very beautifully appointed property, with free snacks and coffee in the lobby. very well located to two hawker markets, chinatown, club street, and transport. There was a strange policy of requirement for guests of the hotel to register visitors, and a stated preference to meet them in the lobby, and conduct all conversations there, prior to 11pm. It wasn't enforced, but a kind of curfew was a strange thing to have to deal with, even as an idea.
Property was well kept and around a lot of things to do. Food was not even a block away. Hawker center was right down the street. The night market was really close by and nice to roam around in. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Bathroom a bit small but manageable. Staff there was super nice and helpful. Definitely stay here if you want to be in the center of it all.
Great location & service
Fantastic service by front desk, great location. No complaints about our stay
Loved the character architecture
Kimberly at reception was exceptional. She helped us in every way. Even answered questions we hadn’t even thought of. We felt so at home. The property is interesting and unique and we loved feeling like we found a hidden gem. So many delicious food options all around. Easy to take metro everywhere. I can’t wait to come back and stay here longer!
100% stay at this hotel!
One of the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in. The staff were extremely friendly, always on hand to help, and were just superstars. The hotel itself was clean, the room was more spacious that we thought it was going to be, and the location was ideal - right next to Maxwell Hawker market and Chinatown. I'd highly recommend this hotel.
They are currently undergoing some renovation on the first floor (which did not interfere with our current stay) but the staff are very friendly and helpful and the location is in the heart of many restaurants and bars along Club Street and around the Tanjong Pagar area. Also near to Chinatown.
Ann Siang
It was a largely business trip so you want a very comfortable hotel - well placed for the city and local restaurants to eat in - it ticked all the boxes
Quaint rooms in a shophouse setting. Very unique.
Weekender
Really nicely designed place (except for the cramped lobby). Staff were helpful. Room was great. It’s Ann Siang Hill so it’s a bit noisy outside until midnight.
Rooms were quaint and lovely, breakfast was poor but fortunately there are plenty of alternatives within the area
Ann Siang we will be back
Staff was pleasant helpful and attentive. Breakfast was a disappointment would ziggurat going out of hotel or buy at nearby 7/11😞location in China Town was great4minute walk to Maxwell Hawker court, Buddhist and Hindu temples 10 minute walk subway about 15 minute walk. Room was comfortable except the mattress needs replacement. It is an old basic hotel with very limited amenities. However the location is great. Many restaurants, pubs and food stalls within easy walk.
ASH has all you want located in the middle of Chinatown with good restaurants and two markets 5 minutes away. Our exec room was a little more expensive but the bed was worth it, bathroom lovely and although on the top floor, we couldn’t hear the rooftop bar. That was open till 12 but on the down side, was very expensive, although not run by the hotel. Would stay here again.
Breakfast was terrible. Breakfast only starts at 7:30 and the staff is not ready. Hardly any choice in food and the staff does not know how to cook an omelet. And this is a restaurant/bar which is supposed to be famous at night. A hotel which i will avoid as I value my breakfast.
The hotel is in the heart of chinatown and provides a luxury hotel experience for a fraction of the price and within walking distance of just about all the chinatown sites. The staff is AMAZING and the rooms are huge.
This hotel was modern, clean, comfortable and very convenient for site seeing. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Outstanding service
This hotel excels in customer service. Each staff member we encountered during our stay went out of their way to help us and make our stay comfortable. The rooms are spacious and very clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay there again.
Nice facilities
All's well. Nice ambience, room, facilities and accessibility. The suite had a small kitchen, was able to whip up a simple meal. However, the evening is slightly noisy till 12am dye to pubs and bars around the vicinity. So be prepared.
I don't recommend this place, airconditioning hard to deal with, room facilities are a downer. But it is a good budget place.
Excellent
Very good hotel
This is our third time staying at this hotel and this is one of the reasons we keep coming back to Singapore. The staff are so helpful and friendly. The location is great. Close to China Town and MRT and hotel is unique, with great rooms and a street atmosphere you can not beat on a Friday or Saturday night as an experience. Will I come back again, YES I will because, I LOVE IT, LOVE IT and LOVE IT. Thanks again to the staff for looking after us.
nothing else to add, so making this a required field might put other reviewers off going further.
Very friendly staff. Within walking distance of the underground. Food Hall nearby if you wanted to eat cheaply. Singapore is a lovely city to visit
We feel cared for throughout our 5 night day. The staff was always attentive. Unfortunately we experience a travelers worst enemy. Diarrhea. The staff was caring and helped stay comfortable in our space. They assisted with the local pharmacy. Called taxis when we visited the emergency room. The location of the hotel was prefect for visiting the famous food stalls and Chinatown. I cannot think of a better location to enjoy the city. My only wish is that we could have been more active and feel the joy that this hotel created.
This hotel is in a great location with many wonderful restaurants and bars located on the block and china town 2 blocks away. Hotel staff is delightful and very helpful in answering any questions. Room was like an apartment with nice finishing a and an amazing bathroom. Highly recommend
Best staff service Great little boutique hotel and staff make it great Good location to China Town s AS be MRT
Friends get together.
The hotel is amazing. Great area. Amazing rooms. Great if you enjoy an amazing boutique hotel
Good hotel in a convenient position for the MRT. Comfortable, spacious bedroom with excellent modern bathroom. The continental breakfast offer could be improved to give better choice.
Great room (Deluxe King) with walk in shower! including safe which was useful. Complimentary breakfast. Located close to China town was great as well as a local food market for authentic cheap eats out. Walking distance to Singapore centre (even Orchard Road for the adventurous) and several MRT's.
Great experience in Ann Siang House
Had a wonderful stay in Ann Siang House. Hotel was very charming & well-appointed. Staffs were very friendly & helpful & provided early check-in without being asked. Loved the vibe of the area/neighborhood. Great location with great food all around & was within walking distance to MTR stations. Good value for money. Will book again if I have the chance.
Friendly, helpful staff! Great location! Nice serve-yourself breakfast with round-the-clock delicious coffee machine. We had a few latte's each day. Enjoyable, fun roof-top bar.
All of staff was very kindness, and maked me happy during stay there. Should be next time I will stay there.
A little noisy but that was too be expected. Great location and very helpful staff. Rooftop bar and pizza restaurant were very good. Please note that if you press the make up the room button after taking the room card out, it will not light the indicator up
Great position. Beautiful rooms and huge bathroom.
Why Stay Anywhere Else?
Fabulous small hotel in the heart of Ann Siang. Service was exemplary, rooms were beautifully presented in historic house. Easy to access from metro.
The staff were amazing! So pleasant and kind. Amenities were good. We never received a welcome gift as promised in the booking. Also our handy phone never worked since it was taken off property. They tried to fix it multiple times but once we left the hotel, it didn’t work. Continental breakfast is ok but unlimited coffee makes up for it :) bed was firm. Cool roof top bar! All in all, we will stay here again.
The hotel employees were all extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was wonderful, especially the European style bread, location is very convenient- overall a really nice hotel!
Great hotel in a lovely building in a fantastic location.
Not the Room I booked
People who wish to book a room in Ann Siang House through Hotels.com should read this before acting. I saw Hotels.com displaying that the Culinary Studio with 2 twin beds is available. I booked a room indicating my preference with 2 twin beds in late January with full payment. My trip is in late July. Not until one day before my check in date in late July that Ann Siang House informed me that they failed to provide me the room I booked with 2 twin beds. The House claimed that my preference is a "special request" and they can't entertain that. The House even claimed that I have booked a room with King Size bed, which is not true at all. After several e-mails, Ann Siang House claimed that Hotels.com didn't notify them my preference on 2 twin beds in late January when I booked the room. Meanwhile, Ann Siang House failed to tell me what actually happened between late January and late July, the six month period before my actually trip, and up till now, the House failed to provide a reasonable, logical and acceptable explanation on this fault. After some other emails Ann Siang House finally apologised for not being able to fulfil the booking requirements made by a client six months in advance. This is what you get when you book a room at Ann Siang House through Hotels.com: the website won't transfer the details of your booking to the House ASAP, and the House would not give you what you prefer, and will only notify you one day before checking in. Be prepared!
Great boutique hotel in the best area of Chinatow.
Perfect position for sightseeing. Maxwells food court 5 minutes away for the best local food. A big must. Hotel staff excellent as my husband fractured foot on run near hotel & lovy staff organised taxi to hospital & helped when back & when we left for airport. Had the culinary room which was perfect for us. Breakfast was ok. Room good. Bed great. Fantastic area to stay.
Central location in Chinatown. Spacious rooms, great attention detail and excellent service, friendly staff. Very bust Street, we stayed Wednesday and Thursday nights not too noisy, but noted a street sign which suggested that many bars and clubs adjacent would be open to 2am Friday and Saturday so book this hotel if you want to party to the early hours!
Great all round visit and would stay there next time I visit Singapore
Breakfast was not very good and overall Area was too noisy.
Don’t hesitate just book!
Great stay, in extremely welcoming and would highly recommend to anyone!
Quasi-perfect!
The biggest strength of this hotel: its exceptional staff. Genuinely kind, helpful, attentive, and knowledgeable about the area. An absolute pleasure. The hotel location is very good AND the rooms are fantastic. Great space, great product, great logistics (very useful washing machine). Only weakness: a very light and very limited breakfast; the management should revisit this point. Everything else is per-fect! Many thanks to the staff!
Great service. Clean well appointed rooms excellent area with easy transport and lots to see and eat
Friendly comfortable stay
Nice room, good location, complimentary cold drinks and decent breakfast options. The area is quite vibrant and well located - although the noise from nearby bars and restaurants could bother some people. Complimentary laundry was helpful. Shower in bathroom didn't drain properly and no door meant the entire room also received a shower.
Loved my stay
Friendly staff with very helpful suggestions. Good breakfast. Very comfortable bed, clean, well appointed.
Great area close to Chinatown and hawker centres. Numerous eating places and bars/clubs in the Ann Siang area. Our room was spacious and very comfortable.
Friendly staff, clean and great location. Managed to get my former corner room. Big and roomy!
Very comfortable and even cosy. We used the hotel as a hub for travel to several nearby countries and stayed in three different rooms over the extended holiday. Each room was different but equally luxurious. The staff were friendly and helpful sorting out problems such as luggage lost by airlines and faulty SIM cards in a very competent manner.
Lovely staff, great location, spacious rooms and very good value. Complimentary Light breakfast was appreciated, as were daily water and soft drinks. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Ann Siang House.
The location and room was excellent. However due to the location and sound proofing of the room, you can hear exactly what the drinkers are saying downstairs and across the street via the window. The noise is pretty bad at night in the room from the surrounding.
The staff were friendly, helpful Andy always available. Even though the hotel is located in a "hot spot" of weekend night life, the sound proofing is so good that once you're done dancing in the street you can snuggle up in your quiet room.
Sketchy Location
I was traveling for business, I wasn't there to party. That's something that's left out of a lot of the reviews. This hotel is located in the middle of what I would describe as the red-light district. As a single businesswoman traveling alone, I did not feel safe in this area. It was close to where I had to be at meetings for the week, but not worth feeling nervous leaving and returned.
This hotel is lovely and the staff is absolutely amazing. However, Friday night the noise was terrible until 1am. I had to leave a day early so I could get some sleep the night before flying back to the US. It is a great place to stay during the week, but not on the weekend.
There where a few things here and there that were a little off. A nice nescafe machine in the room, but no pods or cups. No signs for calling room service, which is fine, but they could have had some info on local food delivery services etc. Easily available. Also, the stairs/stairwells could be better marked and kept free of clutter. They were clearly meant as secondary options in case the elevator fails, but at least one should be up kept for regular hotel traffic. Other than that, really gorgeous old building, freshly renovated, friendly staff. I enjoyed it. Bring your ear plugs. Ann Siang Hill is a clubbing neighborhood and the bars accross the street will be playing loud music from 8pm to 2am.
Excellent location for MTR, restaurants, Chinatown; small, boutique hotel with very friendly young staff (a few a little inattentive to breakfast service) and modern design; very personal; would definitely stay there again when in Singapore.
All You Need / Simple and Nice
Loved our stay at Ann Siang House. We stayed 3 nights and felt very comfortable. It's a simple hotel with all that you need. We enjoyed the continental breakfast each morning. Service was terrific and everyone was very friendly. Enjoyed the karaoke bar across the street. Really enjoyed the hawker center down the way which had fantastic food. China town is just down the street. Every day I went out running in the morning. Felt so safe! Would definitely go back here.
Quaint cosy stay in a quirky neighbourhood
Decor & design of corridors, the well-being suite itself was amazing with a unique elongated layout. Pleasantly surprised at a massage chair (Ogawa) upon entering the room, mediocre mini-bar (bottled water + coke & sprite) and a neatly tucked kitchenette with induction stove and microwave. Location is great for night owls and party people, not so great for those needing a night's rest unless group sing-alongs rocks your boat as lullabies - Noise level was significant from the bars along the street on a Friday night. Staff is relatively friendly, offers assistance and help promptly. Complimentary breakfast was quite sad - bread and spread, hard-boiled eggs with some yoghurt and a coffee machine. Highly recommend exploring the neighbourhood for some kick-ass brunch and munch. Perhaps expectations were raised from prior reviews commenting on 'fringe' snacks stocked in the common area fridge and in room's mini-bar - probably an 'opening' special? To be fair, it was a staycation and not a traveller's perspective, hence I did not utilise much of the services that they do provide. Price of room is rather decent for its size and location, otherwise, still a great experience and make sure to explore the bars and restaurants within and around ASH.
We loved our stay at Ann Siang House. The area was interesting and the building itself was older and charming. It was easy to get around. Staff were helpful.
Wonderful!
A great little hotel in a convenient location.
mini bar items are free which is something good. There are some sport equipment in the room which is also rare but good
This is a wonderful boutique hotel located just under one hour from the airport by train and near Chinatown. The staff were very accommodating and helpful. The breakfast, situated in the lobby, is more like a cafe than a hotel. The food on offer, although minimal, was very nicely presented and very tasty, along with a nice selection of beverages and good coffee. The room was something else, good quality amenities, nice relaxing bath salts for the weary traveler, a nespresso machine and a free mini bar (albeit without alcohol, unfortunately). The room decor was very nice with little touches throughout. Very good job on interior design. Being in a very lively area it can be noisy past midnight through to one am when the surrounding bars close. But with the help of the frontman (Dinesh?) I was even provided a white noise reductor which actually worked. Overall this hotel is unique. Relaxing, hospitable and one of the best hotels I have stayed in. Highly recommended!!
Very nice hotel but incredibly loud area
Very nice hotel, more like a bed and breakfast. Its comfy and cozy. But, the hotel has 3 stories, and is shaped as a "U". In that U is a bar/club outdoor, and the 4th floor is a roof top bar. The street in front closes to traffic at night on Fridays and Saturdays, for 100s of people to invade the bars and clubs. It is simply impossible to sleep until 2 am. So be aware if you want to rest and sleep, not the right place
Fantastic !
Gr8 location! With maxwell food centre nearby, nice places to walk around and chill and nightlife readily available. Completely enjoyed my stay !
Friendly staff, great location between China town and business district. The only improvement would be to increase natural light brightness in the rooms.
Rooms were very small, difficult to walk around the first bed to the twin. Bathroom window overlooked by other buildings, lack of privacy. Breakfast options very limited. However the staff were lovely
Amazing trip
Stay was amazing. Staff were great, location was perfect.
Great location.
My wife and I loved the location just a couple of blocks from Chinatown and the Metro. But it was noisy at night as the bars and restaurants spill out on the street. Very cramped breakfast room and food selection limited but fresh. The receptionist was especially helpful and friendly. Room quite large and well appointed. Would stay there again.
Amazing location close to various bars and a places to eat. Comfortable room with complimentary mini fridge (non alcoholic). Staff were friendly. Only downside was there wasnt much choice for breakfast buffet.
Loved this place, nice for a change from the usual places!! Would highly reconmend
Stayed for nine nights. Staff were courteous and friendly. Room was comfortable and clean. Location was excellent for local restaurants and food courts, and only a couple of minutes walk from central Chinatown and Chinatown MRT. Would recommend.
We really enjoyed our stay at Ann Siang House - the staff were delightful and the rooms were spacious and very comfortable. We had a room located at the back of the hotel and it was also very quiet. The hotel is in a good location for exploring Chinatown, very close to some great hawker food centres as well as other cafes and restaurants and is an easy walk to the Tanjong Pagar MRT station.
What a fantastic little gem! So close to everything Singapore has to offer! Great continental breakfast, very clean and free mini bar! Yes, FREE! Wonderful staff, very obliging and very happy to assist. Love their 'Handy' phone they provide with tourist attractions with discounted prices, Google and yes, free local and international calls. Will definately be back! To all the staff, Terah Makasih!
Lovely boutique hotel. Attentive staff, comfortable rooms and surprisingly quiet given it is so close to restaurants and bars. The breakfast was sufficient and well-presented. We enjoyed our stay and will come again.
Ann siang house
Room is well done . We should have free parking facilities
Nice comfy stay
It was a nice boutique hotel with just 20 rooms and this means that the hotel experience was an intimate one with the front desk doing their best to meet your needs. The room is surprisingly spacious for the small shophouse and the air con temp and bedding is so very comfortable. We were on a staycation and did not have much luggage but it might be a bit of a hassle if you are a travellor arriving by public transport. Also in a nice bustling neighbourhood which offers many dining and entertainment options

This was a lovely unique hotel with friendly staff and well designed rooms.
