Not a normal place to stay

I felt like we were staying on camping grounds rather than a resort. The place offered very limited anything. No where to buy snacks, internet service was bad, our shower barely had hot water and no stream, the room was old, had rips in the lamp shades, you could hear your neighbors, the staff wasn’t friendly in the lobby and place was managed extremely inefficiently. Never will recommend this place for what is charged.

Beautiful Beaches, typical Caribbean oasis which hasn’t figured out customer service yet. The property needs an upgrade. Some of the staff work as a team to give you inaccurate dinning bills and the taxes in Anguilla are too high. Aging property which requires more development and a staffing overhaul!

Beautiful beach!

This was our second time staying here and we love it! I think they have one of the best beaches! The staff, food, and drinks (especially the rum punch) are the best! Unfortunately, because of family crisis, we had to leave a day earlier. I hope we can get refunded for that; we can't wait to return again!

Right on one of the BEST beaches on the island!

My husband and I found this property last minute due to an unfortunate issue with our previous accommodations for our honeymoon and they were available and exactly what we were looking for. The beach is literally steps from our front door and the staff are absolutely amazing! This is a gem of a find on the island and we will definitely be back!

Very quiet and relaxing property older but very clean. Staff is excellent beach and water are beautiful. Very relaxing and quiet island vibe Food is excellent.

The staff were very friendly. The food for lunch was really good especially the curry chicken.

Beach

Old Caribbean charming property, rooms need some updating but this is reflected in the price you pay. Location is unbeatable, beach is one of the best I've been to. I went end of June in low season and the property was not full at all. Beach is public so there were other people staying in front of the property on the loungers. I assume during peak season it will be busy and you may have to scramble to find a chair and shade. Rooms are clean with basic amenities and toiletries, as well as beach towels, good AC, large flat TV, fridge was nice addition. I would have liked to have a small safe in the room as well. The back door was not really safely locked, and anyone could have walked in if they wanted to. The shower heads need update. The chairs at the front porches are ancient, I almost couldn't get up once I sat down on one, please replace them, they are unusable in current condition except to dry my clothes on them. There was good free Wi-Fi in the room but not in the lobby. The prices at the beach bar are pretty reasonable, you can get bottled water as well. Food was good and everyone was nice and welcoming. Pool is small and not really clean; the sign says 8 people max in it. It would have been nice to have the faucet with water working, so we clean our feet from the sand after we leave the beach. I saw people cleaning their feet in the pool and don't think this is good practice. Overall, I had a relaxing few days there and would stay again if I come to visit the island.

Ladies were nice and helpful.

The property was affordable, but it was somewhat rundown and unkept. The fridge in our room was barely cooling and there was no thermostat to make it cooler. The grounds had a lot of weeds and were not attractive. The beach loungers were in bad shape. The beach was not ever combed to remove trash or old, dried up seaweed. The restaurant is closed and the only available dining is the beach bar, which is limited and doesn't have a set closing time. The pool water was bath warm and it was full of sand and not ever cleaned. It did smell like chlorine though, so that is a plus. Responses to issues were quick and the housekeeping person did a great job.

A little dated but otherwise great

This hotel is in an excellent location on a gorgeous beach. It has good food and a friendly staff. The rooms are in need of some updating, unfortunately. I would stay here again though.

The entire staff and guests at the Great House property feel like family. Been coming to the island for over 20 years and it’s like coming home when we walk down the stone pathway. The location, charm and hospitality cannot be beat.

The property was located on a very nice beach. The condition on the room was sub-standard. The service in the restaurant was very bad. The quality of the food was very average.

Perfect location!

We loved the location and you can’t beat the price! The rooms could use some updating, but it was very clean. The bed was very hard and uncomfortable, but otherwise we were happy with our stay!

This property is very outdated. The pool wasn’t up and running, room had no soap or facecloths, no coffeemakers or bottled water. Night fest man was watching a show on his phone and didn’t give us the time of day. Would not recommend staying here.

Fantastic staff, Ok Hotel.

Staff super fantastic, everyone, receptionist, waiters and especially the cleaners, all doing their best and do anything for you. And this is where reviews get difficult as the stay was not up to the standard of a basic hotel let alone a 3 star Caribben beach resort. Many comments but will keep to two areas that need improvment. Restaurant- needsto improve the experiance, felt like a school canteen at times, so limited on menu and was our last resort. Take a look at other places on Island and implement changes please. POOL- felt really cheated as the pool was only usable for one day of my stay, rest of the time it was full of sand and debris, yes we had a storm but why was no staff cleaning it out the next day. 9 days not usable, totally unacceptable. Great location, great staff but so sorry to say poor hotel.

I would not recommend staying here!

This place was really out dated. Our beds were as hard as rocks. There was no soap or body wash in the room. Our key for the door took a long time to figure it out. The beach lounge chairs are a joke. They sag so bad in the middle your butt is nearly sitting on the ground! This place needs a major overhaul!! I will say however, that the staff was very friendly, helpful and kind. That’s the only good thing about this resort ! (Other than it did over look the bay) It was a rip off of what we paid!

The beach isn’t crowded and is clean but the garden view rooms are in need of repair. It’s not a luxury property but that’s also why they don’t charge a luxury price. If you want a newer more up to date room go to a different hotel. Personally I went to spend more time at the beach than in my room.

Beautiful beach

Bungalows with porches, sea views and just steps away from the most magnificent 2 1/2 mile Rendezvous Bay beach. Family-owned.

I loved staying at the Great House, the property is beautiful, great location, very friendly and accommodating staff, comfortable rooms. Would be nice to install new shower heads. Thank you for a wonderful week

Third time here. Best value on the island. Not the fanciest but this resort has all you need. Clean rooms, beautiful beach, no stairs, good food and great staff.

Island dream

The AGH is a slice of paradise! Modest amenities to lay on the beach and swim in the sea. Take a stroll to the left and have lunch or dinner at The Place or take a stroll to the right and have great bbq at the Sunshine Shack. All with incredibly beautiful views! This family owned beach resort will bring you back down to Earth to live in the moment.

Located beach front

Great location and customer service!

This property is located on one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. With a short walk to the beach, it is both quiet and very accessible to beachfront. There are plenty of chairs and umbrellas, service at the beach bar, and a short walk to a handful of other restaurant options. The staff is very helpful and will work to manage any request. The manager, Will, was especially attentive and truly cares about the guests and staff. Overall, this was a very quiet resort with wonderful access. I would recommend a car on the island as the taxis are not quite as plentiful as some other island experiences. Rooms are spacious and beds comfortable. Great wifi as well if you are working!

Nice location, staff helpful but property somewhat run down.

One of, if not, the best location on the Island. Wonderful staff, great food, awesome beach bar (where those that know go). If you go to Anguilla for the true Caribbean feel and love to swim in the ocean, you won't be disappointed, if you go for wash cloth swans and chocolate strawberries on your bed, go to one of the tourist traps. The Anguilla Great House is truly Anguilla at it's finest.

Not-So-Great House

Lackluster grounds No one in charge Servers were not engaged. Aloof. Impatient. Unfriendly. Essentially, no beachside service. Beach not kept clean, in need of raking No Security service on grounds Food was less than adequate. Pedestrian We checked out after 2 days of a planned 7 day stay CAVEAT -- Our opinion is just our feelings and observations after a short stay

Beautiful location on white sands, staff really friendly and happy. Room had any infestation and was reported daily but never dealt with which meant nothing could be stored in bathroom. Gaps around doors meant mosquitos could visit as they please.advertised as having Gym/Spa, this does not exist,

Great location, However the property is very old and is in need of a complete overhaul. The room has no amenities. the showers spray everywhere but on your body! The furniture is very old. The property needs a complete rebuild, and not a repaint. A lot of patch work in the interior and exterior. It's like that tried to put lipstick on a pig. The price to stay here is not worth it!!!

Our slice of Anguilla paradise

Excellent location on Rendezvous Bay and the beach. We explored the entire island and its many beaches and this was our favorite. The staff was very friendly, from restaurant waitstaff to housekeeping to groundskeepers to management. A very comfortable and affordable vacation. Rooms were spacious and well supplied with toiletries and towels. Coconuts Beach Bar was a plus!

Absolute dump. No food anywhere. Left and went to Serenity Cottages which was a fantastic experience.

This property is perfectly located on the beach. Close to all activities and conveniences. The staff, chelsea and Will were very pleasant and accommodating. They went above and beyond to provide for our comfort and satisfaction. Also, the food was DELICIOUS!! Freshly prepared. However, the property needs some updating.

A Secret Little Gem

The Anguilla Great House is not high end, not for the rich and famous. This place is homey, located on one of the most beautiful bays and beach’s in Anguilla with the mountains of San Marteen in the bank ground. There are some very special staff that work there to ensure you are taken care of it. Not fancy just special!

I could have stayed here forever. From the comfy beds to the friendly staff to the amazing beach, I have nothing but positive things to say about this place. The people at the resort made me and my friends feel like family. I have done a lot of international traveling and can honestly say this will be a resort I will regularly return to. If you're looking for the ultimate vacation, stay here! You will not be disappointed!

Located on probably the finest sandy beach on Anguilla. Great location next to Sunshine Shack for BBQ local food and The Dune for Bankie Banks legendary entertainment.

Stay away!

This is not a place to book! It's a island and not many hotels are available so if you go there for a week holiday, you are f..... The hole complex is ready to be replaced. It's not maintained, not prober cleaned inside and outside. We payed around 400 usd pr night, It's really way out of that range.

Awesome resort

Excellent resort right on the beach. Friendly staffs, very good people and very accommodating. Will definitely stay here again.

Friendly staff

Place was ok but staff was super nice and friendly. The staff was the best part of this place.

Most of the staff, especially front desk and Diana, were wonderful! It is very run down and in need of improvement. Best things were the bed, tv, wireless connection and the beach! The pool is scary - never cleaned, had bottle caps and sand inside. It looked green and not taken care of. The kitchen has a small dorm refrigerator, but no glasses, plates or any utensils. Cabinets are very dated and the doors are hanging crooked. The beach chairs have seen better days and the food was ok at best. If you are looking for a cheap place to stay with a great beach and not any amenities, this will work. If you are looking for a gym, pool, beach equipment and great food you will be disappointed. Beers are 3 for $10 which was awesome. Just go in with low expectations and you won’t be disappointed.

We loved that the property is beach front as this is one of the nicest beaches on Anguilla. However the images of the property portrayed on the website did not reflect the actual condition. There are not potted plants and flowing palm trees. The outdoor restaurant was is bad condition as well as most of the lounge chairs. The bathroom was deplorable. The quality of the food and service were poor. Our coffee was served cold and the food was mediocre. Overall disappointing.

Older property but maintained sufficiently well. Beautiful beach setting. Decent value.

Best bang for the buck!

Not being at the top of the 1% club, Anguilla Great House allowed us to enjoy a 4 star vacation without going home broke. Best bang for the buck on the island, not to mention it comes with Rendezvous Bay. Will be back and hope it's sooner rather than later.

Perfect for no frills direct beach access

This hotel is great in terms of location, but you really should be more of a self sufficient traveler. The front desk is not 24 hours and the restaurant has interesting hours that seemingly change depending on demand. I checked in at 750 pm and the restaurant was already closed though their site touts that they have 2 restaurants. The rooms are quite spacious and look like cute bungalows with 2 lounge chairs set-up in from of each. Who are we kidding?...you come here for the beach access and this is by far one of the most beautiful beaches that I've ever experienced. You have direct access from this hotel + they also have an outdoor pool. A short walk down the beach will get you access to some tasty food so don't let that deter you. It can be a bit alarming walking though a lobby with no attendant at 930 pm, but it's safe and for the price and beach it works. The hotel is a bit dated relative to some of the newer hotels and also seems to have taken a bit of a hit from Hurricane Irma as much of the island did, but I will certainly go back. Free wifi is included as well. Though it's meant to be for the rooms, my access extended to the beach so I was able to stream music on my phone while laying in the sun. Winning!

If you want the old Caribbean feel.

If you like the old Carribbean feel, this is the place for you. The staff was very professional and friendly. The beach is nice, however they could have removed the seaweed off the beach. Made this beach look dirty compared to the other beaches in the area. Food not the greatest. It took an hour for us to receive Breakfast. Which was simple bacon and eggs. Other than that, the location was great. For the money, the stay was great. Great people on this island.

Perfect location with minor drawbacks

I've stayed here before and I came back - the location is excellent for Moon Splash - you can walk home along the beach. The room had some issues: noisy airco, leak on the outside hallway area - could have slipped if I wasn't looking. The closet had one hanger. But the bed was comfortable, the towels large and thick - so it was a good choice in spite of those few things. Wi-fi was fine and free. No safe, though.

Fantastic beach just outside your door, but....

Great House is the low-rent alternative on an expensive island. Nice place with friendly staff, and the rooms are clean. But many little items are missing: soap dishes, light bulbs, etc. A saggy mattress. But it is cheaper than the other places.

If grandma had a place on the beach....

If you want ritz and glitz this is not for you. If you're ok with a little dated and like being on the beach in a clean, spacious room with friendly, helpful,staff...the place is great. Not a glamorous area but comfortable. Great value!
