Really lovely building & environment & the room was lovely & very clean The shower had very good pressure but too small & cramped and I kept knocking the lever by accident which either changed the temperature or switched it off. On arrival there was sparkling wine left, delicious pistachio cake & two nectarines left. Nespresso machine with very nice strong coffee but you only got 2 pods free (so one coffee each) each day, not the most generous. Free water left in the room every day though and also free water given out regularly at sun lounging areas. Food fairly good, but some poor choices like mussels which don’t work when left in a steaming couldron for a couple of hours. The salt baked fish also did not work as the chef was under pressure to serve it quickly with the big queue waiting so you mainly got a spoonful of skin and bone with a tiny amount of fish. They should remove the skin and bone before bringing it out. Bacon at breakfast was always cold. The sausages were very small pasty frankfurters which were awful. They excelled at puddings which were amazing. Lots of moussey type cakes and baklava type cakes which were right up my street. Good sunbed policy as they removed your belongings if you left your bed for more than 30 mins which meant that there were always beds available. Brasserie by the pool: was great. pool great. Entertainment & WIFI poor so little to do in the evening or in the rain, unable to stream a film or tv. Staff fantastic.
Amazing staff, property, area, beach
Our stay was excellent. The staff is all so pleasant and happy. Housekeeping was so friendly and accommodating. The service in all the restaurants was above and beyond. The only part we were disappointed in was the front desk. Not as pleasant as everyone else . We felt we were a bother, except when we checked in Faye was outstanding. It was not everyone just a few that had a difficult time be friendly and smiling.
Fabulous hotel, wonderful staff, amazing pool and sports and delcious food in 7 restuarants / bars
It was calm. It was too calm.
Overall, the property itself was OK. Rooms are outdated. Service is good but food is mediocre. But one thing I would definitely stay away from is booking any trips through the hotel. There is price gouging. The hotel charged me almost $800 to go for 4 hours to the ancient ruins and a museum. The cost of the trip was outrageous and the hotel refused to accommodate my concerns. Their description of the tour and the cost did not justify or reflect the services that were provided.
Great
Didn't like the amount of kids running around.
One of the premier, luxury hotel resorts in Crete. Not far from Heraklion. Staff are very professional, warm, and welcoming. The place has its own private beach area reserved for hotel guests. Breakfast and dining area is fantastic, lovely ambience, and variety of options within the resort. There is a convenience store within the resort and other shops which is nice. Night time entertainment / performance offers really nice atmosphere with tranquility. Plenty of activities to do whether it's outdoor yoga, gym, tennis, paddle, football, swimming, and beach. They have outdoor and indoor gym. I believe the resort can upgrade the gym equipment for their outdoor space. Some of equipment was not very comfortable. I had an early morning checkout, the hotel reception staff were so nice to have prepared a breakfast box to go. A really nice gesture. Would definitely recommend this hotel, especially if you are traveling family.
Very clean. Great servive
Great experiance
The outdoor area of this place is amazing, stunning. The rooms are very comfortable and the staff is very accommodating and friendly. Service is a bit slow but friendly. Food and drinks fantastic. The Wi-Fi is very slow. We asked and were given an in room router which made it much better. The bathrooms are a bit strange… the toilet was in a small little corner with a wall right in front of you and the shower very small with no door so water was everywhere after each shower. The big bathtub was lovely. Overall a fantastic experience! Private pool was amazing too!
Paradise on earth. Away from the hoards and busses b of tourists. Elegant. Beautiful. Amazing staffs. Great authentic dining options in and out of the hotel: real, authentic, tavernas in B near by villages. Fantastic wine and olive oil. My wife and I - 1st time in Crete, had a wonderful time.
Excellent property, very friendly staff. Two issues: 1) the WIFI quality is not good, keep dropping the internet connection, 2) the staff doesn’t communicate well in English; we had some tough time communicating basic things with them
Nice hotel on beach away from traffic noise etc. Smoking is allowed outside on the terrace where people are eating having their breakfast. A smoking zone away from eating area would be recommended.
Amazing stay . Best hotel in Crete
One of the best hotels I stayed in. Beautiful resort, friendly staff. The pool and the beach was amazing. Outstanding customer service. I will return for sure.
Beautiful premises, maintained daily.
Really great hotel in a picture perfect setting. Excellent food and service. Hoping to return to the hotel and the beautiful island of Crete.
Stunning views, excellent service, kids friendly, variety of restaurants with delicious food
HORRIBLE SERVICE THEY KEEP CALLING ROOMS TO REMIND US THAT WE NEED TO CHECK OUT IN 3 DAYS. WHO DOES THAT! HORRIBLE SERVICE NOTHING WORKS INSIDE THE ROOMS
Outstanding service. Great staff
Complete place to unwind and relax. Entirely excellent. A very gorgeous place!
It was an mazing resort but it’s a vip resort and I didn’t get anything no upgrade or even offered anything still everything about it was great but I have few suggestions they need to have more verity in food options there is a lot of pork lamp and seafood no chicken or vegetarian .. I would love to go back in a warmer months it was very cold and windy so we didn’t enjoy the pool or beach
Traveled with my family, the resort made feel like home. The staff was amazing and the resort was gorgeous. The food was great. The resort offered entertainment and many activities through out the day for the entire family. I would stay here again.
Amazing
It was an amazing getaway. Service was one of the best hotel services ever. The location is quite and isolated, and the whole resort is just amazing.
Stay away! This is no five star resort. Valuables stolen right out of our room and hotel management doesn't care. Cleaning lady stole multiple items, all the hotel can say is you have no proof. Didn't realize I need to put things like perfune in the safe as well. Will never stay at Grecotel again. Not to mention rooms were old, AC unit was noisy, gym is tiny and food is mediocre. There are much better options as I've stayed in many beautiful resorts in Greece.
The Garden Sea View Bungalow was ideally located for us as it was very close to the pool.It was also a quiet location
It is a really nice hotel and we loved staying there. As mentioned to the hotel staff, the biggest downside is that smoking is allowed in the main food area and you can need tell when someone will sit down at the table next to you and light a cigarette up. It is a real shame as it happens everywhere, next to children, pregnant women etc. Otherwise it’s a great hotel, the beach, staff and food was all amazing!
My partner and I stayed here for a few days in May 2022. Overall we really enjoyed the stay, were well fed, cared for by the staff and went home relaxed and refreshed. The resort is really pleasant to stay in. I loved the architecture, water features and the layout is easy to navigate. We enjoyed playing tennis, archery, a couple's massage and watching the sunset every evening. There is plenty to do here if you are a bit restless but ultimately it is a place designed to chill. I think we got lucky with our luxury sea view room, as it was at the end of the row and was much bigger and better than the pictures. There are several restaurants onsite, we only tried the buffet and an Asian place. The other restaurants require booking in advance, so we didn't get to try everywhere. We needed gluten free food and the staff were excellent in providing information on what could be eaten. We were offered gluten free pancakes in the morning, and even the Asian restaurant was able to make a couple of dishes gluten free which is rare. One of the positive highlights was that it was my partner's birthday during the stay. Without hinting or prompting the staff at all, they brought us a surprise gluten free birthday cake at the end of our meal (they must have recognized the birthday from the "Date of Birth" info during check in) which I thought was exceptional service. I wish I could have taken credit for organizing it but the staff really outdid themselves!
Wonderful Stay... Again!
This was our third stay at the hotel and we've had a fantastic experience every time. The hotel itself is stunning; the design and all the facilities. The staff are exceptional too. I really can't fault the place. If I was being particularly knit-picky, I'd like a few more vegetarian-friendly dining options.
The property itself was spectacular and the food and staff excellent the only drawback was I wish I would have known it was mostly a family resort.. Most activities were geared towards children and the place was full of kids and babies.. which is fantastic however not the place to stay if you're into more adult pursuits.
The hotel is excellent in all aspects specially the children activities
Poor front desk service for a 5-star hotel
- Poor front-desk/concierge service for a 5-Star hotel. On July 30 around 10am, we went to the front desk to book ferry and turned out to be more than a 30-min wait. There was only one concierge staff who was preoccupied by a previous guest’s long request. We then turned to the front desk for help on ferry booking (which we thought was a simple request), but a staff named Maria asked us to wait for concierge since it was not the front desk responsibility. During the 30 min when we were waiting patiently, the 3-4 front desk staff (no smile) were not engaged in anything at all, but they kept avoiding having eye-contact with us. When the 30-min wait already passed our patience limit and we requested for immedate attention, Maria then asked a front staff, who has been idle all the while , to book it for us at the front desk computer, which they could have done 30 min ago. And disappointingly, since the staff wasn’t experienced at all, I ended up being the one to make the booking on their computer all by myself. So in summary, we wasted all the time waiting to borrow the computer from them! How inefficient! Meanwhile, while I was using their computer for the ferry booking, I saw another guest came for help but again got turned down by the front desk staff saying their concierge colleague was still preoccupied with a guest’s request, and they couldn’t help at all. Think about the amount we paid per night at a 5-star hotel, it was not all worth it!
Beautiful beach, loved the ocean. The property itself is beautiful. Excellent breakfast buffet
Absolutely not a 5 stars hotel. It s more like all inclusive property full of kids and germans people. It is impossible to relax or to sleep. Pool is always full of screaming kids with huge inflatables. Kid club extremely noisy and suite with mini pools also full of kids who wake up very early mornings. Most of the rooms are connecting so you can hear all the discussion from your neighbour. Building are done of long tiles corridor and housekeepers hoover the tiles floor and bang on the walls every early mornings. The blinds in the bedroom are too old or too thin and do not protect from the daylight at all. They advertise few restaurants actually the restaurant places are the same location and you just get 2 different menus. The buffet restaurant close at 10pm, which means that at 10 sharp they have removed everything ( including the desserts) even though you are still seating in the restaurant. Food is overall very average . That is probably why you cannot find any menu of their restaurants online on their website. Moreover the description of the food you order is rarely comparable to what you will get. It seems sophisticated when you read but it s more like basic room service food. They do not have a 24hrs room service which is unacceptable in a 5 star hotel. From 11pm you can only have 2 salads, one toastie and no dessert. Lot of alguae on the beach and there s never enough sunbeds on the beach. I try to meet the manager while i was there but he was invisible.
Perfect.
Amazing! This place is so peaceful. We had a great time with our toddler. Staff was friendly and helpful, facilities are well kept, food is tasty with wide variety. Perfect stay, can't wait to go back!
Luxury in Crete
Most amazing architecture of any of the hotels on Crete - perhaps in all of the Greek Islands. A masterpiece of architectural forms and planning. Very comfortable and spacious villas, amazing salt water pool, excellent buffet breakfasts included - restaurants all in a great setting.
The hotel did not have internet working when we got there. Our room was on the 3rd floor and the elevator was out of service the all time. No hot water the first morning and barely warm the second day. We were supposed to stay five nights we cancelled and left the second day...
An oasis
Hotel is great - we stayed for 4 days and the hotel is comparable to Maldives experiences in terms of comfort and quality of service and food.
I'll be back!
Have been to Crete quite a few times, but first time at the Amirandes. Usually head to Elounda for the stunning sea views, Daios Cove being a favourite if you don't mind the steps and the price. It's definitely on a par with the other 5* hotels on the island, although none of them can match Asia or the Middle East in terms of quality (so don't expect this!). It's a quick 15mins taxi ride from the airport (fixed fare of Eur30 is pricey but that's Greece!) Hotel is in a good location, and some nice restaurants within walking distance. The hotel is large and spacious. Always free beds around the Olympic size swimming pool (not heated, but yet to find one that is!) or down on the private beach. If you can afford it, book a room with the sea view, you will not be disappointed. The balcony doors open fully, and there's really no better way to end the day. Rooms and fine and bed very comfortable. Not much of a sofa in the room, but tended to sit on balcony in the evening. Two things stand out for this hotel - the friendliness and efficiency of all the staff and the quality of the food. The hotel has a number of restaurants, including the buffet which most people opted for, although they might have been half-board. Can thoroughly recommend the Blue Monday (Asian) and the Italian and the Grill. All of them are pricey, but if you can afford to stay here in the first place... try the rib-eye steak and you see what I mean.
Best experience you may ever have on Crete
That's an absolutely another Greece while you are staying in a Grecotel. Wonderful stay, actually worth the price. Those bungalows on the front line are simply gorgeous, highly recommended!
Great for families. Staff really friendly. Property very secluded from everything, if you want to be closer to the cities go to Xenia. I had a great time though.
3rd stay in August
As good as ever. Food is a highlight. WiFi needs a bit of a boost, otherwise a perfect stay, again.
Wonderful Hotel
This is the second time I have visited the hotel with my family and we loved it - again. Everything about the hotel is spot on, the hotel itself and the surroundings are beautiful, the staff are amazing and the beach and pool are perfect.
WOW
WOW,Great resort, and the Best service ever.
Very nice hotel and amazing Ambiance
Highly recommended hotel with an amazing friendly staff from reception to room service. Our chamber maid Voula was exceptionally attentive and most accommodating. We enjoyed our stay to the maximum in a relaxing happy atmosphere. The entertainment in the evening was also exceptional with the 3 young tenors whom I fail to remember their names but they were majestic. All in all the hotel with all its facilities are tip top and we enjoyed every minute. Thank you Amirandes for the wonderful time
The staff made our experience at this hotel spectacular! They were incredibly kind and attentive and made our stay so very special. The resort is spacious with plenty of places to relax by the beach and lots of activities to participate in. The one thing that we didn't love was the dress code at the restaurants - there should be some restaurants that don't have such a strict dress code (Ie where shorts are allowed for men). Nevertheless, we would highly recommend this hotel!
Better than the Ritz!!
This is definitely a 5 star hotel and more. The service is amazing they are very generous and attend to your every need. The beach, pool, views... are one of a kind. Well worth the price.
Amirandes Amazing
This hotel is truly amazing and great for relaxation. It is in an area with not much around it so you have to take a cab to go into town or to other restaurants. But the hotel has a few restaurants in it of different cuisines. If you are there to explore the island then rent a car. If you are there to relax, then this is a perfect place.
Posh resort that aims to please!
When we checked in our room smelled of mold and the bathroom ventilation was very noisy. The front desk quickly changed us to a different room, and we received a complimentary amenity for the trouble. That was the only problem during our stay. The property is a large resort with a beachfront, pools, full service spa, recreational facilities, shops, four restaurants, a playground for children, and nightly entertainment on site. There is nothing for guests within walking distance outside the resort, except for a public bus stop. (We took the bus to the picturesque town of Agios Nicklaus one day). A lavish buffet breakfast is included, and they gave us early breakfast on two mornings when we needed to eat before the buffet opened. All of the staff were were friendly and helpful.
Relaxing stay
We stayed at Amirandes over the half term break and found the hotel to be excellent, great views, clean rooms and high quality facilities.
Good for families
Very convenient, friendly and helpful staff. The free kids lunch is a nice touch. A few minor criticisms: the hotel restaurants are terribly expensive for what they are, so we ate out every night. Definitely worth hiring a car as the resort is a little isolated. The pools are pretty cold in October as they’re not heated, but the sea was nice and warm. Also, for a hotel of this high standard we found the pillows and bed linen generally to be of poor quality. And while the breakfast buffet was generally good, it’s a shame that omelettes and scrambled eggs are made from cheap powered substitutes. Other than that, it was a very pleasant stay.
Wonderful resort
Great place to stay, facilities great. Bit hard to use outdoor pools as they aren’t heated. Has a good mini mart, lots of food choices, buffet options were ok. Nice place to walk around. They facilitate lots of kids so have lots of things for them. Lovely resort
Love greek style
We LOVE this place and would not hesitate to recommend it to everyone. From arrival to departure Everything exceeded our expectations. Check out spa package for weary travelers. The best $ you will ever spend. Buffet breakfast was superb as were the meals in all the restaurants. Truly a gem of a hotel. Kudos to the very friendly and professional staff. Will definitely return.
Really great hotel with fabulous facilities
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Amirandes. The staff were super friendly, the hotel in great condition and the facilities are great. Full length 50m pool (a little cold in October but still great) and a private bit of beach kept the kids occupied most of the time. The football activities in the late afternoon filling in the rest of the time. Overall very happy with our stay.
Beautiful place
My daughter and I stayed late October for 5 nights in a Luxury room. Very nice - staff extremely friendly and efficient. The grounds are beautiful. The kids club animation team are amazing. We weren't so lucky with the weather but that's life. My only note is that the room was a bit cold in late October (no heating), and pools were freezing (no heating), and the shower leaked a bit onto the bathroom floor. But these were really minor points on an overall great experience.
Excellent place especially with family. Rooms a bit dated but still very functional$ the grounds of hotel are amazing!
Great for families and couples
It was amazing, the stuff are more than welcoming and very helpful. Amazing breakfast. The lunch and dinner are a bit expensive for the area but tastes amazing The hotel is great for family vacations
Beautiful setting with private beach.
Excellent staff who go the extra mile to make your stay enjoyable. You will always get a sun lounger whenever you turn up and the restaurants are a delight, particularly the Cretan restaurant offering local dishes.
Beautiful hotel
Loved every minute of being at this hotel - I would recommend a hire car
Amirandes Grecotel review
Amirandes Grecotel - great place for romantic getaway! Good food. Nice pool.
10/10 on hotel and 20/10 on service
It cannot be described. We were 11, 8 adults and 3 children (12, 3, 1).From the time we entered to the time we left, it was WOW! If the hotel was awesome from the view, facilities and the landscaping perspective and you thought things cannot get any better, they prove you wrong with service standards that even airlines should learn from. If Singapore Airlines and Emirates are standards of excellence, Amirandes service even beats that. I travel extensively across the world but would not hesitate to say that I would give Amirandes a 10/10 on the hotel say and maybe a 20/10 on service and helpfulness. This is a heaven for kids of all ages as there is a lot for kids to do and kids eat lunch and BF free. That's was the sweetest thing they have done. Believe me, if kids activities and meals are taken care of, you can have a blast too. What a time we had. Simply superb.
Fabulous Hotel in not so good location!
We have just returned from a 1 week holiday at the Amirandes Grecotel in Gouves, whilst we had a very nice stay in the most fabulous hotel, it should be mentioned that the hotel is located away from any other establishments an it is very difficult to walk to anything out of the hotel, unless you clamber over rocks and up very dodgy steps or a risky walk up a lane. Taxis's are available, but we like to walk whilst on holiday. So with this in mind unless you book full or half board at the hotel, you may go hungry. You can upgrade to the option of half board at the hotel on a daily basis but at €50 per person for a buffet, we thought that this was a bit over expensive. After all that the hotel is extremely good, the service is second to none and the rooms very luxurious, and all very very clean.
Very enjoyable and romantic break
Had a very enjoyable stay at the hotel. It is a beautiful hotel situated on the beach and facilities are as expected of a 5star resort. The pool is large and there are plenty of sun loungers whilst the beach is kept in a good condition. The selection at Breakfast is wide ranging and the restaurants are of a good quality with excellent service. My only reservation is the qualtity of service provided by the reception, hence the four star rating. I expected them to be able to recommend places to visit and restaurants but they struggled on occasions. In addition, on leaving the hotel I felt aggrieved when the concierge didn't bother to load the car with my luggage leaving. Despite these reservations, I would definitely recommend this hotel. Overall, I had a very enjoyable stay.
Aufenthalt
15' vom Flughafen!
-
Beautiful hotel, great staff (actually I rarely have seen so friendly and competent) , great swimming pool and beach but room looks cheap (plastic floor, outdated furniture..)
Love it
Everything was perfect. Just one thing, the room had a smell coming from the toilet, it was a mix of heavy detergent/cleaning product plus toilet smell. We stayed at one of the bungalows and the smell is evident when you walk in from outside into the room, you get used to it after a while. However at night the toilet smell was more evident and we had to open the door and turn on the AC full speed to make the odor go out. Other than that the staff, the hotel was perfect.
Amirandes, A Grecotel Resort To Live | Hotel in Hersonissos | Travala.com
Disappointing stay , as beautiful as the property may be the service is terrible for a 5 star resort . Resort is very loud with kids running up and down hall ways , front desk can not even recommend a restaurant. Very low quality of food . Would not recommend
