Lovely B&B with a lovely host.

Didn't see when booking that this is a B&B. Found out after arriving thats what it was. There is limited parking here, so if there isn't a spot in front of the house (4 total) then you have to park in the drive under the tree. The entry and exit is desigened to direct you a certain direction so it makes you take wider turns which was a little hazardous. The bed was nice but took up most of the room. So if you need a lot of space for luggage you wont have it. The bathroom is big enough for 1 person with a small stand up shower. If you have used one before its not a big deal, but could be difficult for a foreigner. The staircase is very narrow, so again, if you have a lot of luggage its hard to go up and down and kind of hazardous. Breakfast was good, Marie is very nice.

The hostess was pleasant and this property seems to be busy/full due to the location near Galway. The room is very small and you have to carry your suit cases up the stairs to the second floor. Bathroom is small but OK, with a shower. Parking is first come first served. Very tight if you come late in the evening. Breakfast was included and the parking was free.

Comfortable stay

We had a lovely stay. It was a busy weekend at the house with lots of guests. Rooms were comfortable. All very close together.

Nice house, caring staff.

There was mistake with the days of my trip but Almara House was very efficient and she solved the problem sending us to another hotel with similar facilities. She drove us to the new hotel and she was in contact with us to know if eveything was ok.

The property was great. Located in a nice area, and Marie was an excellent host. I would highly recommend her B&B if you are planning a stay in Galway.

While our stay was OK, the cost for B & B was disproportionate to others we stayed at. Rooms were clean but very small, parking was very limited. Location was away from downtown and not very covenient.

Mari was great and very helpful. The room was very comfortable and the breakfast was always delicious.

What an absolutely enjoyable stay! Everything was pristine and breakfast was great. Marie was so kind and even called a local music shop to make sure they would be open when we came to visit!

A gorgeous retreat in Galway

What an absolute treasure our host was. We had the most gorgeous loft bedroom and wished we could have stayed longer!!! Very well appointed, spotless and super comfortable. Delicious breakfast - we felt spoilt. Great value and perfect for exploring Galway, particularly if you have a car. Would love to return and highly recommend to all!

The best place to stay in Galway

I was in Ireland for my son’s wedding .. staying at Almara house was by far the best place we stayed. Marie the owner was incredible.. the home was beautiful and clean 10 stars .. I will book here every time.

Nice last minute arrangement

The rooms were lovely, very comfortable, and Marie was extremely helpful with suggestions for touring sites. Breakfast was delicious!

We loved the host and had such a fun time talking with her. Also the homemade pancakes were great!

Couple 3 day visit to Galway.

Excellent, 5 Star, although out of the centre of Galway it’s on a bus route only a very short walk from this property, with frequent buses . We would recommend without hesitation.

Good, but Basic

This is a basic bed and breakfast, but lovely and clean with great breakfasts and real brewed coffee. The city center was a short taxi ride or bus ride with the bus stop right in front. The bathroom was very small, but the bed was comfortable. The innkeeper was very helpful and gave great advice about what sights we should see.

Exceptionally clean and a wonderful host

We had a wonderful stay at Almara Houe. Marie is an awesome host, and she made us a gourmet breakfast to start our day. The place was exceptionally clean and well maintained!! We would stay here again in a heartbeat!!

The house is well maintained, clean and very comfortable. The host is friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was good, and parking was easy. It's not in the city center but an easy drive or bus ride. The area of the property is quiet and safe, and easy to get in and out.

Hidden gem.

This is the most amazing, spotlessly clean, b&b I have ever stayed in, and I'm on the road, touring with clients, all year long. I'm just surprised I haven't been here before! But I most definitely will be back, if there's room!

Lovely spot in Galway with a great host!

We stayed here in late August. It is a lovely B&B and the host was so friendly and helpful. We were there with my 18 year old son and he was suffering a little cold and the hostess made up a special hot concoction for him. We missed one of our nights here due to a delay from the airlines and I was disappointed to not have more time in this charming spot. The beds are very comfortable, the breakfast is wonderful and she even had extra electrical converters available. Not right in town, so you do have to drive into Galway, but it makes the spot very peaceful and quiet.

Clean and pleasant; hosts were so helpful!

We greatly enjoyed the Almara House; it was very clean and decorated nicely. They offered great breakfast options. Though the rooms were smallish, it was adequate. The hosts connected with each traveler and helped them in their travel plans. Lovely place! Good location, close to a pizza parlor and Italian restaurant.

The room was small and cluttered with 1 chair for the 2 of us and the shower was tiny. There were no common rooms where we could go to read or stretch out.

Pleasant stay near Galway and has a bus stop right in front of B and B to go into Galway center. Matt was very welcoming and made sure everything was alright and also helped us with the bus schedule. The room was very clean and comfortable and even had a usb charger. The breakfast was served at either 8 or 9 am and had a lot of menu choices. I recommend staying here!

Excellent Stay

Our stay at The Almara House couldn’t have been better. The owner was nice enough to call a cab for us so we could make our dinner reservation on time. She gave us great tips about our upcoming road trip to Cork. The breakfast was wonderful and the rooms were great. Highly recommend.

Very accommodating and was eager to help with anything I needed.

Hostess is great cheerful and helpful. Room ceiling height is too low for anyone over 5ft 9in tall. Banged my head badly 6 times in two days. Bathroom is definitely too small. Breakfast was ok.

Excellent Hotel Accommodation

I would highly recommend Almara House as our experience exceeded expectations. We were warmly welcomed and our hosts, who could not do enough for us during our 3 night stay, even driving us into Galway for dinner to avoid a taxi cost. The rooms were serviced daily, fastidiously cleaned and very comfortable. Breakfast was a menu selection, cooked fresh daily and generous in serving size. There were a range of options including cereals, fresh fruit & yoghurt through to a full Irish breakfast. Our hosts made tour bookings, organized washing and provided knowledgeable and relevant tourist information during our stay. We were made feel very comfortable, nothing was a problem. If staying in Galway, Almara House is a perfect B&B close to the city, but far enough away not to be impacted by noise and busy streets.

A bit out of town but not far at all if you travel by car. Otherwise excellent, I highly recommend it.

Modern, spacious and well-appointed townhome 15 minutes from downtown Galway with full breakfast and comfortable rooms. we were three to a room and it was big enough. The bathroom is tiny, but did the trick.

Perfect location for those who are staying in Galway. Very clean and comfortable. The proprietors, Matt & Mary, are very gratuitous and accommodating.

The owner and her husband were very helpful and welcoming. They helped arrange out bus tour one day.

Elegant B&B

We loved our stay here. Elegant attic room. Tiny bathroom but ok for overnight stay. Lovely breakfast cooked by friendly hosts. Would happily stay here again.

Quiet neighborhood with a restaurant within walking distance. Top of the house was a bit warm on the hottest day, so far, of the year, but a fan helped tremendously. Lovely welcome, delicious breakfast.

Marie is a wonderful host and the breakfast was fantastic. The quality of the bed linen and beautiful woollen blankets ensured we all slept soundly in our upstairs room. A lot of thought had gone into planning our room to make it as comfortable as possible. Plus chocs on the bed - yum!

What a fantastic stay! Marie was so extremely welcoming and immediately made us feel right at home. The room (and the whole house, really) was impeccable clean, and breakfast was delicious! An ideal B&B if for a visit to Galway, we would highly recommend.

Top Notch

Was my first stay st a B&B and won’t be my last. Everything i needed or wanted was at my fingertips. Great location and local bus right outside . The host Marie was super friendly and always chatting with all the guests to ensure all was good . She is an excellent t cook and her breakfast were delicious! Hot or cold or both .. She even drove me to the bus station . Would definitely recommend this guest house .. very clean and attention to detail!

Our stay at the Almara house was nice. The whole place was very clean and the folks running it and making breakfast were very friendly. Excellent eggs Benedict!! The parking outside was a little tight, the shower was tiny, and the toilet was loud and slow to refill after a flush. We found the place listed as close to NUIG, but it wasn't really that close. We had to drive and park to do anything in the city center.

Charming, near to downtown Galway

Not usually a B&B guest, I had some trepidation at staying here. But Matt and Marie were extremely helpful, the house is charming and comfortable, and breakfast was excellent. We would absolutely stay here again.

What an experience!

Forget corporate hotels. B&Bs are the only way to go. These folks pay very close attention to details and it shows. It's the seemingly little things that they do that take in the guest. Case in point; I didn't bring the appropriate outlet adapter from the US. The hostess, Marie, was gracious enough to lend me one. One day later, the corporate hotel in which I was staying was "gracious" enough to sell me one for €4.00. This very same corporate hotel advertised "self parking." Took me a while to figure out that, yes, I would most ASSUREDLY pay. Parking at Almara House? Free! While staying at Almara House, I had car issues which necessitated repairs. While I overstayed my welcome by a few hours, Marie assured me that it wasn't a problem. I've never met a more hospitable host. This is the quintessential bargain in all of Galway. You would definitely be remiss not to stay at the Almara House. When something goes south at the corporate level, they have the option to blame others - even the customer. The proprietors of B&Bs throughout Ireland are totally self reliant, so you may rest assured. When it comes to customers' satisfaction, these folks are "all in." And they will bring corporate Goliaths to their knees every time.

Mary was so very nice and very accommodating and the price was perfect. The bed and breakfast was clean although nothing fancy or spectacular. No soap or shampoo was provided and the room lacked any updates to paint or fixtures.

We had the attic room. It was immaculate and the bed was so comfortable. The owners offered assistance with local dining and activities.

Hakuna matata

Location was very convenient, 8mins from city center. Hosts were super nice and helpful. They helped me book my Cliffs of Moher day trip, and they called the company to come pick me up from the house instead of going to city center without me even asking for it. 6 stars for this place, highly recommend it.

Marie and Matt welcomed me into their home and it was a pleasant stay. They arranged for a tour for me the next day and also a taxi to pick me up. The breakfasts were excellent. The shower in the room I stayed in was quite small but probably fine for most. I liked being outside of the city and public transportation was easy to access back and forth to Galway.

Very nice B&B and owners

Checked in late (about 9 pm) after calling ahead. Owners were very accommodating about late check in and gave us advice where to get a late dinner nearby after arrival. Following day had a good breakfast and owners were very helpful with advice as to where to park the car for the day when we told them we wanted to spend the day sightseeing in the city. Facility was very updated and clean and comfortable...had family room sleeping 4. Would highly recommend to others and will stay there again if visiting Galway.

Awesome stay

We had a great time. This was our first time staying at a B&B and it was the best. We arrived early into Galway because we were lost and Marie showed us how to get where we were going. She was better than our GPS. Outstanding service

OK stay

The room was fashoinably furnished, neat and clean. Amenities were adequate and it was nice to have a small refrigerator available so we could have cold water. The bathroom was the size of a walk-in closet and appeared to be added as an afterthought. The shower entrance was nearly blocked by the toilet. You could easily hear other guests talking in their rooms and the noise level was distracting - had to use earplugs. Overall, the stay was OK, but certainly up to the levels of friendliness and comfort we encountered throughout the other portions of our visit to Ireland.

Super friendly hosts at wonderful B&B

We had a wonderful stay at Almara House B&B. Cozy room and hosts Marie & Matt were very friendly! They made delicious breakfasts with plenty of options to choose from. They were also very helpful in suggesting some places to visit in Galway. The town centre was a short bus ride away and the B&B was in a very safe area. We'd suggest this B&B to anyone visiting Galway!

Great Option

We were warmly welcomed and felt at home from the start! The hosts were fantastic and gave us some great ideas what to do and where to go. We went on a tour to Cliffs of Moher and we were collected from just outside the premises - doesn't get easier than that. I would definitely recommend this establishment and if I am back in Galway I will definitely go back.

Lovely B & B, hosts Matt & his wife were very nice people and couldn't do enough for you. Chocolates on arrival and breakfast was included. Bus stop right outside, just a short trip into the town centre to find all the shops, bars, restaurants etc. Comfortable room & bed.

Lovely Stay

Matt and his wife were super friendly and the included Irish breakfasts were wonderful. We were able to park on property and take a bus half a block away. The bus was a 15 min ride right to Eyre Square. It was much easier than trying to navigate our car.

Lovely B&B!

This is a charming and beautifully decorated B&B just ten minutes from the center of Galway. The owners were so kind and helpful, and we were very impressed by their exquisite taste; the rooms were the nicest I've ever seen at a B&B, very modern and sophisticated. We were blown away by the breakfast, which was delicious and elegantly presented (what you would expect from a fine restaurant rather than a hotel).

5 Star Treatment

This was a lovely experience from start to finish. Matt and Marie are gracious hosts who made us feel very welcome in their home. You would be hard pressed to find better treatment at a five star hotel. The room was beautifully appointed, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was elegant. There was a huge selection of teas and coffees plus lots of information about what to do in the surrounding area. Highly recommended.

Cozy B&B, convenient to the city

While not right in the city center, it wasn't very far out, and there was a bus stop just out front to provide easy access if the 2km walk is a bit far (the taxi fare back after the buses stopped running was less than 10 Euro). The room was comfortable - probably the most cozy bed of all the places I stayed touring the country - and well decorated. I had one of the top level rooms and was greeted in the morning with a beautiful rainbow in the view outside my window. Matt and Marie are the sweetest people and helped me out when I realized I left one of my belongings there after I'd driven on to my next destination. Breakfast was delicious and I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Great b&b

Went to visit galway to see the Christmas market and it was so easy to get into the city centre as there was a bus stop just outside the house. The room was a nice size, it was warm and cosy. Would definitely recommend to friends

Fantastic B&B

The couple that runs the B&B is fantastic, they were helpful in assisting my daughter and I find our way around the city and even arranged for the tour we wanted to take to pick us up right at the B&B. I would go back there again and again.
